Bryncae Arms in Rhondda Cynon Taf

It wasn't busy, but our food took over an hour to come. Drinks order was taken when ordering food. I had to go to the bar to remind them. Beetroot burger was dry and not served with any slaw as advertised. Lasagne was disappointing. Chips were cold.

Had a poor experience today at Bryncae. Used it quite a lot for birthdays etc in the past. Had Sunday lunch which was well below par. Service was extremely slow, meat was overcooked, peas were hard and the yorkshire pudds were all burnt and unedable. It was a birthday celebration and the whole table felt the experience wasn't great. This might be a one off but it will be a while until we try it again.

Amazing food HOWEVER!!! Got greeted with hostility, Then got “given” the bill today without asking for it and was not asked if our meal was ok. Made to feel quite unwelcome. Been to the Bryncae before, and would always recommend however today was my friends first visit and I was embarrassed by the staff’s behaviour. I hope this is a blip on their behalf cause the food, drink and venue are Fabulous. But today was not a day for their staff, which was disappointing.

It was my 66th Birthday ,Ben was very nice and helpful and so was the waitress,our meal was Good value for money and Huge portions and delicious.We love coming here.The atmosphere was very nice .

I had the chargrilled rib eye steak.. It was ruperbly done. I must say the quantity looked less but it was just right. We had the meat platter between the 5 of us. The dessert of fruits and icecream was splendid. we finished all that we ordered. And the price was worth every penny. The staff were friendly and cheerful. Service was quick inspite of having other customers. The atmosphere and ambience was lively.

Food was great and the staff was very lovely and accommodating. However we felt like the land lady was trying to rush us out the door and was impatient when my elderly parents took a while to order. Which was a shock because the resteraunt was basically empty. Didnt know it was the land lady at the time, but we asked a waitress who she was after our meal and she told us that she was the land lady. Other staff were lovely, but the attitude of the manager was disgusting. Don't know if we'll be back again which is a shame because the food was fantastic.

Local to us and a firm favourite. Exceptionally talented cook and great staff. The menus change periodically and everything is home-made. Sunday lunch is probably the best I've ever had in a pub restaurant and I'd happily eat here eery day if my waistline could stand it.

Welcome was great. Sat us down immediately in a quiet part of the restaurant. Ordered food and was brought to us quickly, service was ‘OK’. If you want a quick bite to eat local you can’t go wrong, but don’t expect to be wow’d

Stunning Sunday lunch, loads of meat, beautiful fresh veg and lovely homemade gravy. Nothing too much trouble defo worth a visit

I went Thursday lunch time for a Christmas meal and I have to say it was fantastic.There was 16 of us and no complaints from no one.Everything was home made.l had fish cake to start then beef it was the best beef ever didn't need a knife. Would highly recommend and the staff were so pleasant.

Only booked this meal for eleven of us at the last minute so we were grateful to Dai and Michaela for fitting us in. As usual we were well looked after and the meals enjoyed by everyone and my wife is still going on about how good the belly pork was. Thanks again to all the staff.

Over priced, bog standard food with shockingly rude service. Pre paid, wrong food delivered to table as it was given to another customer. No offer to replace the meal or even an apology. Surprised at the lack of care or assistanceI, asked politely " please could you sort it". The response was hostile and rude and was further insulted. In an attempt to get some clarity on the situation my husband enquired as to who the manager was......it was the manager who was the culprit! NEVER again will I visit this establishment, and I certainly would not reccomend it ( unless you like a pot luck surprise meal and getting insulted!)

We had the two mains lunch deal for 14£,it came and it was all delicious.there is a lovley atmosphere here always.Ben was very polite and very chatty you can have a laugh with him.will come again.Oh yes the desserts were delicious too.

Spent a lovely afternoon at the Bryn cae arm. Fantastic meal off bar menu belly pork mash peas followed by mini pavlova and fresh friut excellent food and such good value . Staff so polite and helpful. Sorry no photo.

Went with service user who I support when I'm working,very quiet when arrived but bar mam friendly and ordered food ,it arrived generous potions and hot compared to other places freshly cooked and excellent value for money.will definitely return

We came for dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was almost empty which should have been a warning. Firstly they had only two white wines available and no Prosecco by the glass so we bought a bottle which was very sweet and clearly cheap....

Saturday 28th November 2020 Wedding, Food, Atmosphere, Perfection!Well I honestly don't even know where to start!My husband and I were due to get married and had booked a beautiful wedding venue in Cardiff. As we were in local lockdown we started to panic that our wedding would not be allowed to go ahead. We decided to keep things simple and try to book a local pub.After many, many reccomendations on facebook we contacted Michaela and Dai at the Bryncae Arms for the possibility of a meal after our ceremony. Not only were Michaela and Dai happy to put a meal on for us, they went completley above and beyond to create a wedding reception for us!! By wedding reception I mean the whole works.. chair covers and bows, lovely table cloths, flowers on the tables and even table confetti! Michaela is literally a wedding co ordinator and she thought of absolutley everything! We were blown away when we saw the room and how much effort and thought Michaela, Dai and Staff had put into our wedding!Dai and Michaela allowed us to stream our wedding ceremony to the pub where our family and friends watched us get married.When we arrived at the pub everything was perfect. Michaela ushered everyone into the function room and even introduced Mr & Mrs Gifford! The 3 Course Meal was out of this world! Every single guest had commented on the quality of the food, one cheeky guest even tried to pinch recepies. The portions were huge and very well spaced out between courses. I don't have enough words to describe how good the food was! If you haven't been here for food you need to go!! My parents have already been back for an evening meal. We feel it was a blessing in disguise to book the Bryncae Arms, we really didn't expect a lot considering they are not a wedding venue but I honestly feel we wouldn't have had a better day if we did have a proper wedding venue.All of our guests have commented on how lovely our reception was and how friendly, helpful and attentive all the staff were. They couldn't believe that it was Michaela who decorated the room! Everyone was telling me that I had done a lovely job on the room!When the word 'Wedding' comes into the mix the price goes up! Not at the Bryncae Arms. Michaela and Dai made it clear that they are here for the community and not to rip people off.The Bryncae Arms had only 4 weeks notice for our Wedding and they did an amazing job making sure we had a really special day! We are sooo happy that we made the decision to hold our wedding reception here and we cannot thank everyone enough.Michaela, Dai and every single member of staff - Thank You so much for creating the perfect wedding for us!The only regret we have is not booking with you guys from the start. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a quality meal out. First class service, staff are all so friendly, beautiful presentation of food and big portions with lovely sides and garnish.

Love this place. Sunday lunch is by far the best around. We go every week. Have taken family and friends and they've loved it. My Dad who normally finds something to moan about said it was delicious and commented on how big the portions were. Great food and great service, everytime!

Having seen a negative review from someone who is quite barmy ? There is nothing negative I can say the food is so good and huge potions and good service with the food and bar with a good range of beers and wine , would recommend the fish it’s huge .

Had so many visits to this place, absolutely the best food, service with a smile,friendly and welcoming. After reading the last review “absolutely disgusting and don’t bother” were you having a bad day?? In no way is it disgusting, it’s one of the best pubs by far for eating out, Sunday lunch is good to, tho I would book as they are always so busy. recommend

We dont visit this lovely local pub often enough. Every time we do we are utterly blown away, its fab! This time we had the festive afternoon tea. There was so much food and such good quality, for so reasonable! Hands down the best afternoon tea I've had. Would recommend to anyone, and will be trying their normal afternoon tea asap.

Lovely Christmas lunch but could have done with more waiting staff as food going cold waiting for veg and gravy.

What a find!! Polite, attentive staff..lovely atmosphere despite being quiet. Great menu, something for everyone...decided on the smoked salmon, crab fishcakes and seafood platter.Did not disappoint! Best seafood platter in a long time, with proper seafood like squid, prawns and octopus all served on a sizzling platter, not all the deep fried rubbish you usually get in some places! Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu and will highly recommend to friends!

Just come back after having Xmas dinner with a crowd of friends that get together on Thursdays. Really enjoyed the meal ,well cooked ,hot and enough to feed an army.Sevice was great ,nothing was to much trouble. Would definitely recommend and I will return again in the near futureThank you

Have been here a few times over the years but yesterday decided to try Sunday lunch and it was really lovely. All fresh, Beef cooked perfectly. Plenty of it and extra gravy and all for £8.95. Great staff and service and it really is a gorgeous building inside now. So much effort has been put into this pub that I feel ashamed that it’s in walking distance and we don’t use it more. Definitely going to be our new local

Attended the Bryncae Arms on a Saturday afternoon, the atmosphere was welcoming and the waitress & bar staff were very attentive. The steak was cook just right and the quality of produce spoke for it’s self. Thank you.

Three of us visited the Bryncae Arms recently for a late lunch. Extensive menu and specials (2 for £10). We all ate from the specials as it was a late lunch and all had sweets (very reasonable prices). The place was clean pleasant and the food delicious.

Excellent food.....well cooked, large portion and good value for money. Friendly and helpful staff. Was so good that planning another visit next week !!!

A group of six of us visited this venue and came away a little disappointed. It's location is fine and it is clean, tidy and well presented with a separate dining area. It has a nice little beer garden located at the rear in the form of a courtyard and on such a balmy night it was most welcomed.

Been here many times and its always an excellent meal. Food is always freshly cooked and portions large. A very large selection of beverages, including some very nice gins. A great place to meet with an outside area if we get some sunshine.

I would like to thank Claire and the management for helping myself and my family receive an absolutely amazing buffett for my mams funeral. The food was spot, there was an amazing selection of great sandwiches and different dishes. Which was freshly served and elegantly arranged.

All had a sunday lunch. Prices were very good. Plenty of food had the gravy was nice and think which you don't get often these days. Beef was very tender and portion size was good.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon,passed several times and always comment how nice it looks so decided to give it a try,Well the Decor is lovely and easy access for wheelchair.We had meals for 5 adults and 2 children and the food was an excellent standard with Homemade chips,had gammon,scampi fish and steak,kids had wraps and gammon all meals were very good value and will definitely return,shame it's not on our doorstep as would be the only place we would go,staff very welcoming and friendly

The staff in this place are very welcoming and never fail to make sure everything is top standard. We visited a couple. Of weeks ago for food and ordered the tapas. (first time trying it) I have to say it was fantastic everything was cooked to perfection and couldn't find one fault with it. We arrived at a beautifully decorated pub with friendly staff. However all was not well, as we ordered our food and I can honestly say it was some of the worst we have had (can't say eaten as we walked out). We literally sampled a few things and got up, even left our drinks, it was that bad. I told the lady at the bar how bad it was and not even an attempt to put it right and we paid full price. Definitely will not be returning.

I haven't eaten here for a while due to mediocre food and menu, but today was a pleasant surprise. The rugby was on (we won tough luck Scotland), but the full menu was available up until kick off. The food was excellent I had slow roasted belly pork, with pigs cheeks and black pudding and the wife had the fish and chips. It was cooked perfectly and tasted devine. The menu has loads of good choices and the prices aren't silly. Try it, you'll love it.

We used to come here at least twice a week as a couple and with friends but have now stopped coming due to rudeness of staff. Always get turned away when wanting to order food. Long waits at the bar even though there will be no one else there as the bar staff just seem to always ignore us and one always seems to be drunk. Never felt more unwelcome somewhere which is such a shame as we have spent a lot of money here over the last year and now need to find a new local as it just ruins a nice night out when the staff are treating you like rubbish. I wouldn’t even bother wasting your time here as they clearly do not care and there is never an atmosphere. One good thing to say is that even though every time we order the tapas the dishes seem to be different, they are always really nice. Such a shame, would love to come here more often just the feeling like we are intruding in somebody’s house and not wanted is extremely off putting.

Went for a Saturday night family meal, as a change from our usual haunts in Bridgend.

By far the best Sunday lunch I've had. I had the beef it was tender and juicy so much flavour throughout my meal all the veg perfectly cooked and the gravy was so delicious. My parents had the pork and chicken and they was extremely happy and gave massive praise to the meal. (Which takes a lot to for my dad to gave praise) I can't wait to come back! to anyone looking for a delicious Sunday lunch then look no further this is the place to stop beautiful pub with restaurant all the staff very friendly and happy to help. A warm welcome. The food was excellent pub grub and the wine was good. The lunch menu at two for a tenner is unbelievable value and the bill was £46 for four including wine. The fish and chips were superb.

Being a local, I eat here a couple of times a month but the food recently has been great. Now and again it's too busy to serve food as its prioritized to bookings but they never fail to serve me. I love this place. The staff, management, kitchen staff and locals make this a friendly place to visit. Plenty going on... sky sports and BT and the pool table and dart boards are back.

If you come here expecting fine dining or even some glorious comfort food then I fear you will be disappointed. This is a “cheap eat” venue and if you go with that in mind then it’s an ok place to eat.

Cannot thank David & his team for making this a memorable evening for us both, family & friends. Food was outstanding from the presentation to the taste. They decorated the room for us, there were 25 of us and all stated that the food was good. He catered for everyone's needs as we had a 4 year old in our party. Everyone who had beef stated how beautifully cooked the beef was and so tender, in fact everything was cooked to perfection. i would highly recommend this venue to anyone who wishes to hold a celebration, great food, lovely place and friendly staff, always made us feel comfortable & at welcome when booking and any alterations we had before the event was never a problem.

Visited Bryncae arms today for a family Sunday lunch, couldn’t fault it. Beautifully cooked beef, lovely selection of veg, Yorkshire pudding light and fluffy and very tasty gravy.

Sorry guys. Don’t like writing negative reviews but the food here was poor as was the service really considering it wasn’t busy. Service opened at five to order food. We were first to order yet seemed to wait a whole 45 minutes for the food to come through. A couple got served before us even though they were after us. When the food arrived, we had to wait a further five minutes for the sides by which time the food is getting cold . Unacceptable. Waitress didn’t seem too bothered whether we had our food or not. The quality of the food wasn’t nice when it did arrive. The chicken in the chicken and mushroom pie was non existent and the pieces that did exist were chewy and inedible. There was a order of a sirloin steak but when that came out we all questioned it as could have sworn it was rump steak and I’ve seen a lot of steak in my time to know the difference. It was over cooked when asked for medium rare and the burger was hard and chewy with no onion chutney as to what i requested. These are basic meals and it wasn’t busy at the time. No need for it guys.

Went to bryncae arns for a luncheon meal, I must say the quality and the amount of food which was served was amazing. The staff were really friendly and could not do enough for all of us. Would definately go back.

Called into this lovely pub today at the end of a good walk. What a revelation! There were thirteen of us and amazingly we had a table that accommodated all of us. The lunchtime menu was excellent and really good value for money. The waitress was meticulous, pleasant and helpful. The food arrived in good time, generous, tasty and hot. The desserts were beautifully presented too. Everyone was really happy with their meal, probably the first time we were all in agreement. We were so impressed that we booked our Christmas lunch there and then.

Visited last Friday night, amazing food and atmosphere, chef was trying out new desserts and they tasted just as good as they look and top off good laugh at karaoke

Visited the bryncae a month ago to go and have Sunday lunch and it was fantastic. It’s all homemade food which was a bonus. The staff were fantastic and very helpful and escorted us to a table and then took our order. The food didn’t take long at all and the way the food was brought out was fantastic. Will definitely be going again.

Visited here last Friday waited 20 to be served with our starter, of soup which was like dish water, although only 2 tables were taken, in the whole restaurant, wanted fish cakes for starter no fish cakes as advertised, waited 40 mins for starter to arrive only one of us ordered, we all ordered simple fish and chips waited another 15 mins to arrive 2 meals weren’t cooked the fish was like jelly inside very undercooked could not eat, one was edible out of the 3, my chips were black, as per picture I will never ever go here again even the waitress agreed the fish was undercooked

On recommendations we went for Sunday lunch.. such a friendly pub.. staff couldn't do enough for you..Excellent service, very quick. The food was delicious, freshly cooked vegetables and plenty of them. I had beef and Yorkshire pudding with plenty of rich gravy. The dessert were home made and delicious, presentation was wonderful. We visit this area regularly to see family but always eat at one of the local chain restaurants. So pleased we found Bryncae Arms instead! The food is freshly cooked, wholesome and delicious. Well presented, good sized portions and the service is friendly and efficient. We will be returning here every time that we visit. Can't be a better recommendation than that!

We visited the Bryncae Arms to attend a baby shower. Afternoon tea had been arranged.

We went out on a Wednesday night for the grill deal. Didn’t know what to expect but we were not disappointed.

I did not think it was possible for anyone to "out do" my wife with a Sunday roast but Dai, Mikaela and team gave a lesson in beautifully cooked outstanding food and service this last weekend with a meal that will be remembered for a long time. Rest assured that my wife and I will be back for more! And the gravy? OMG! Almost................as good as Jayne's.........almost.

We had a very nice meal. The service was good.The set up of the pub and restaurant is well set up. Really enjoyed our food and will defiantly go back.

Went here Saturday to watch the rugby with 3 other couples.we had a great table to watch the game although it's busy there is plenty of seating.

I booked afternoon tea for 19 people for a friend's baby shower. The chef and staff at the bryncae arms were so helpful and they had no problem in making separate sandwiches to meet people's different dietary requirements. The restaurant area where we were sat was lovely, bright and clean and they had no problem with me decorating the area for the baby shower. I would highly recommend and will definitely return for food again

My partner and I visited here as we are new to the area and it's our closest pub. The place has a lovely feel to it and it wasn't busy. The server was very polite. I ordered the fish and chips and my partner had the mixed grill. Took a while for the food to arrive (it appears from the other reviews there is only only one chef). However it was well worth the wait. The fish was cooked to perfection and the sausages on the mixed grill were lovely quality. The lunch time menu is really good value at £6.50 for a meal or £8 for a main and a dessert. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I decided to call in for an early evening meal, we ordered our drinks and taken in to the dining area which was quite pleasant but we found it was not very warm as no radiators were turned on .

We started the with an afternoon tea party which was lovely. The room was tucked away towards the back of the pub and it was well set up. There was a good choice of sandwiches and cakes and the scones were delicious. I didn’t have tea but there were plenty of large pots to go around.

Had a family lunch here yesterday. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked. Would certainly recommend the food here. My grip though is my food being served on a wooden platter, peas in a mini saucepan and chips in a mini chip basket. What is wrong with a plate for goodness sake!!! Arrange the food in a pleasing manner by all means but put it on a plate that has been warmed.

As regular visitors to the Bryncae Arms, we were very excited to come for my birthday meal yesterday evening. As one of the couples we were with had a baby, we booked for half past 6 in order to eat early.When we got there, we had a drink and ordered our starters. They came within about half an hour and were tasty enough. That is when the problems started.The tables around us (who had arrived after us) started to receive their food, and we heard whispers of gone off fish and ham that was 'clearly out of date'.That was off putting, however we continued to wait for our main meals. At 10 past eight, about an hour after ordering, we were told they would be 10 minutes. By this time two tables had left without paying for any of their meals. Quarter to 9 came and still no food. We had no choice but to leave as the baby was still awake and we had been waiting almost two hours.As much as we had a terrible experience with the food/chef, I must say the two girls who had been left to deal with a large amount of disgruntled customers were fantastic and it was by no fault of theirs that our experience was so awful.Absolutely gutted and disappointed as it was for a special occasion and as said before, we are regular visitors of the restaurant and have had nothing but good experiences in the past.Unfortunately we will now be reluctant to book again.

Dreadful evening. Visited here yesterday with family to celebrate my grandson's 5th birthday. There were 6 of us.It started off fine but rapidly went downhill.We ordered 3 starters which came quite soon . There after we waited one and quarter hours with still no sign of our meals. When my husband asked for an explanation he was told the manager had gone home and the chef was on his own in the kitchen and no idea of when food would arrive .

Had a baby shower for my daughter at the Bryncae Arms and couldn't be more pleased,the afternoon Tea was amazing as good as anywhere else I've been.if not better, the staff were so welcoming and helpful even though the pub was busy as it was during Sunday Lunch,big thanks to the Staff a great afternoon was had by all, we will be back

Visited this pub by chance on Saturday afternoon. The welcome was friendly and the pub is well decorated to a high standard. The food was also excellently priced with a lunch time menu for £6.50. Had the liver in onion gravy which was superb. Would highly recommend this pub.

Excellent food, great service and a superb family atmosphere. First visit, definitely not the last. Good selection of beers and wines, soft drinks for the kids and whoever is driving.

I am origionally from Llanharan but this was my first visit to the Bryncae Arms. It will not be my last.The welcome was warm and friendly. The service was very good. Food ordered, it arrived in good time. Quality good. Taste Good. Price Good. All in all a refreshing experience.

This is my local pub and I go here regularly with my partner and sometimes friends/neighbours for drinks and occasionally food. It has great artists performing on Fridays and Saturdays, the drinks are good and reasonable, the atmosphere is nice and the staff are always friendly. The food is okay, typical pub food for the most part and not a great choice for vegetarians however the garlic bread is probably the best I've ever had!

Isn't it just typical you travel miles to get good food then discover that one of the best is on your doorstep. They serve great value lunches with plenty of choice and generous tasty portions at just £8 for 2 course or £6.50 main course. To be recommended
