Bruno's fish and chips in Castle Point

Ordered our meal over the phone for delivery. Great customer service and offered to cook chips separate as I am a vegetarian. The food arrived very quickly by a very friendly girl. Overall cannot fault anything. Would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic meal at Bruno's. The food is amazing and fresh evertime. The staff were attentive and friendly, providing excellent service throughout our visit. Without a doubt, this restaurant is a must-try.

I recently visited Bruno's and while I usually order his grilled Salmon, decided to take a chance and ordered his grilled cod instead. I asked for the thick end of cod, seasoned, with butter, lemon and all the trimmings..... I'm not sure what I was expecting, because if I'm honest, cod isn't my favorite fish, but what I received, was something really quite exceptional. In spite of being grilled, the large, thick piece of fish was succulent. I have eaten a lot of grilled fish but I have never had a piece of cod so beautifully grilled before. It was so flavoursome as Bruno had added his unique blend of seasoning, along with butter and lemon and basted the cod while it was being grilled. This must have kept the cod moist while adding layer upon layer of flavour. I was really blown away. To take a piece of cod and turn it into something SO delicious really deserves praise indeed. So, if you're health conscious, a fish connoisseur or just want a change from the usual battered cod, please try Bruno's grilled cod with his own unique seasoning, butter and lemon. All I can say is, you won't be disappointed and will be in for a truly delicious treat. I will definitely be having the grilled cod again. DELICIOUS. EXCEPTIONAL.

I've lived by the seafront all my life and never really found a fish and chip shop I really like, until I come across brunts, it's fresh, always served piping hot and tasty. Never will go anywhere else

we went in lunch time for fixh and chips. We have eaten there before and it has always been excellent. Their fish is usually cooked fresh to order and is a good size with thin crispy batter. Chips good too

The place is a joke.. so I wanted some nice fish and chips and that’s exactly why I chose Bruno’s. I proceeded to order my fish and then I waited. And waited and waited………….. anddddd waited. When they finally called my order number out I got my fish and sat down with it. The women tells me that’s the wrong fish and it’s someone else’s order. After me splashing loads of salt and vinegar on top of it. She takes the order back and says “oh your ones ready now” As I’ve just sat back down and waited for 25mins for my fish the least she could do would be bring it round to the customer. BUT NO she was rube about it and said “you ready it’s waiting up here” Just so rude in there. Never coming here again, also ! Ketchup sachets are 40p so bring ya own sauce.

NOT DOG FRIENDLY: Went on a solo trip to the seafront with my little dog. I asked if I was able to order to takeaway, however I was rudely asked to wait outside. After people had been served the girl who told me to wait outside didn’t take my order. I had expected better considering the location. Very disappointing.

After reading some of the reviews, thought we’d give this place a go, it’s local too, so within walking distance. It’s a nice looking chippy, down near the seafront, plenty of tables if you wanted to eat in. Lovely big counter and plenty of staff on hand, staff were polite and helpful. Menu is pretty big, plenty of options, and although some people have moaned about the prices, I thought they were actually pretty reasonable, especially compared from my old chippy. Ordered fish and chips and a couple of saveloys, was served in a box, ideal for eating on the front. Thought the chips were really nice, decent sized portion too. Sadly the fish and savs weren’t as nice. The batter on the fish was decent, but the actual fish tasted old, and it was really dry, considering it was cooked fresh, I was quite surprised. It was a good size, so maybe a little overcooked? It’s a real shame, maybe it was just an off night, I will go back and try again another time, the spicy potatoes looked really good, so maybe I’ll give them a try next time. As I said, lots of different options, so I’m sure there’s something for everyone. Fingers crossed for next time. EDIT - Went back again the other night, ordered the special spuds, and wow they tasted as good as they looked, will come back for more of those soon! Massive portion of chips, great chips again, proper chippy chips and a couple of nice crispy battered sausages! Stars increased to represent my 2nd visit, thanks for a lovely meal!

I was not happy to be charged 10p for a bag that I didn’t ask for and was not told about this extra charge, Bring back the good old fashioned paper bags that were free, I know everything has gone up but come on I’m also advertising your establishment for free hence Bruno’s on the posh bag, I’ve never been charged in a fish and chip shop for a bag, I would sooner put the money in a charity box.

Okay, a family asked to go try this place out, she said their food is really good. I’m now wondering if she was playing a joke on me. Chips were awful. I believe they were kept being reheated. Did not like them whatsoever. However, the girls who work there were really warm and welcoming.

I like Bruno's food and he's a lovely bloke , I however have one gripe and it's people parking on the bend outside your shop to pop in

BEWARE OF HIDDEN CHARGE.we came to Bruno’s for lunch and ordered our food.we waited 15 for it when the shop was not busy.while waiting and checking our receipt we found we had been charged 10p for a bag we didn’t ask for and we’re not told there was a charge for one.why should the customer pay for packaging and advertise your business for you at the customers expense? The food was tasty but not generous portions and the battered sausage would hardly feed a mouse.Disappointing.

Best fish and chip shop on the island always great food and service

The food from Brunos has always been 5 star. The reason for only 3 stars , the cardboard box (understand why but please find another choice) the smell was horrid and really off putting re food. I can still smell it now and it's in the bin. As the box was wrapped in paper anyways, can we please ditch the box it's just awful does no favours to the food and adds extra packaging. I can honestly say it was like eating out of a amazon box.

Despite fish price going alarmingly high. I can’t deny the service and quality of the meal was good. So far best chips I’ve had. Fish wasn’t bad either.

Food was fresh and still hot. Delivered about 5 minutes or so earlier than scheduled...so all good.

After we placed the order, lady said it’s going to be round 10 minutes waiting time, however we waited for 20 minutes. Atmosphere is really odd as the man behind the counter was busy talking on the phone about his holidays in Crete. There was no music or anything in the restaurant, so all everyone heard is him loudly talking on the phone and discussing him wanting a nice rental car and hot weather. not a nice first impression as you should leave these things in your staff room. Then after he finished his so important business on the phone, he started to have a go on the girls and rushed them to pack our order out 🤣 Paid £27 for 2 large cod’s and one portion of large chips. I’ll leave a picture in the review for you to be the judge of a large cod costing £11…. Fish was lovely but size you get is definitely not worth the money

Ate takeaway at Brunos a few times this time the batter was awful didn't taste right and fish dry. Chips was great. Put me off going back as it wasn't cheap for three people.

Really good food and so much choice. Staff are lovely and seem to know most of the customers well. Little wait for food but definitely worth it to know it’s all cooked fresh. Communication is good and they will let you know how long it will be when placing your order.

Bruno's was mentioned by locals on a FB page for Canvey we joined. Our order from Bruno's was enjoyed. We ordered a cod special and it was a good size portion. We ordered from across the menu and was very happy. Delivery was spot on and food was hot. We will be ordering again.

The food is so delicious! The prices, the portions and the flavour I cannot fault! This was my first time eating here and it most definitely won’t be the last. I had the 2 small cod with chips, and the spuds.. so delicious! Im not too local but I already can’t wait to go back for more! 100% the place to go if you’re visiting canvey island. Food was not all that. Due to location not much choice so had to visit. Chicken was bland chips were bland.

Bought three portions of chips at 3o'clock today they were horrible looked like they had been there for ages all shrivelled up I would have taken them back but we had to pick my daughter up personally I would not go there again.

Placed an order/delivery on just eat. Food arrived before estimated time given. Would recommend the milkshakes (I ordered a banana one, it was thick and tasty). Would differently order again on Just eat.

First time I've been to Canvey for donkeys years. Only came for a couple of hours and a walk along the prom with some chips. Only bought 2 bags of chips but they were excellent, perfectly cooked, thoroughly enjoyed them.

Best fish and chips around! We come all the way from se london for Brunos food! Couldnt rate this place enough! And im an extremely fussy eater! Even the kids love this place. Have been eating here since they opened and have not found a better fish and chips anywhere we have been!

My first time in Canvey Island and a good way to round off the day with a nice portion of fish and chips. The cod and chips was wonderful, a nice large piece of fish in my box. Very good.

Payed £12 for a medium cod and chips , to get some dry saggy chips and a cod that smelt and tasted off absolute Disgrace of a chip shop shall never be going here again considering the next day I tried a diffrent one on the island same order £9 cooked well and didn't smell off

This place is good very good food, really clean and the staff well no words they are 💯% would of this world very friendly polite fast and will help with any thing you need. My wife wanted some potatoes 🥔 and they had ran out but the got on the phone and ran another fish bar and got them for us how fantastic is that. If you are in canvey island 🏝 go and give it ago you will not be disappointed..
