Excellent - and well priced - food. We had dinner here after a day's sightseeing in town. Excellent service; the 2-course for £25 was perfect. Wine menu was a little expensive, but I guess typical for the area. Really nice, smart, but friendly atmosphere. Would book again if in the area..

Had the pre-theatre set menu with my mum for her 70th birthday. It was perfect! The staff were friendly, the portion size was spot on, the food was super tasty. And they gave my mum a birthday plate with happy birthday in chocolate and a candle. It just made it extra special! My mum had a wonderful time and really felt they made an effort to make her feel special on her birthday!

Booked here for lunch for 7 of us but a few were early so asked for coffee. This took over 10 minutes to arrive and in that time we were asked by two there’s waiting on staff if we wanted to order anything. Also asked for tap water which arrived at which point all the wine glasses were removed. We basically had the set menu and the soup and the trout salad were good. Main was ordered and we asked for the seasonal veg and some wine at which point the glasses were returned. The seasonal veg was anything but seasonal, carrots and French beans. Two of the party asked for crumble for a dessert and requested whether custard could be served with it. We were told it could so went ahead with the order. Dessert arrived with ice cream to be then told the kitchen couldn’t make custard! A little more training was necessary as the location is spot on and the service spoilt a family lunch especially when a service charge of 13.5% was automatically added to the bill and no reduction was given.

Absolutely perfect way to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday after watching The Phantom of the Opera across the road. Cosy ambience and food is excellent. I would come back for the slow-cooked pork cheeks - very tender and flavourful. Good value for money on the pre-theatre menu. But what sets it apart is the extremely friendly and attentive service! They brought out a special birthday cake and accommodated all our requests (and even threw in a chocolate cake on the house without us asking for it!) Special shout-out to our excellent server Nathan, restaurant manager Bruno, as well as Elina and Menal for going the extra mile! Top-notch service (and I don’t usually post reviews)!

We arrived prior to a show at the Haymarket Theatre and order the pre-theatre dinner-one had steak and the other had essentially a chicken pot pie. Both were sub-par. The beef was tough and full of gristle and the pot pie was flavorless. Maybe a la carte would have been better but we had a time limit. Even the wine was bad.

Came here to celebrate my birthday for a pre-theatre dinner. I really don't recognise the comments below. I really should of known better, the lady behind the bar didn't crack her face to give us a smile which is really poor. The other bar staff were delightful. Our dinner was blighted by items missing from the menu which we not advised about and then luke warm food served to us. We wont be returning and I'm not sure if the management really care as they have not replied to one comment below. What a shame and so close to the theatre. To be fair they did offer to replace the food, but we didn't have time to wait for replacement main courses and in the end we were not charged for the less than hot food but we would rather of paid for hot food than not paid for luke warm food that we didn't eat. I don't think we will return and I'm not sure if they were fussed or not, what a shame, really spoilt our evening, however we popped up the road to the American restaurant just next door for desert and to be fair the food looked amazing there and no one was complaining....

Wonderful! Friendly (not familiar), helpful and courteous staff who knew their job. We went for cocktails and a delicious dinner before the Theatre and loved it so much that we went back there after the Theatre for a nightcap. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. The decor was colourful, eclectic and tasteful. The all important lighting was a perfect balance of a relaxed atmosphere but enough light to see everything. Definitely worth many many visits and perhaps stay in the hotel next time. A delightful place. Oh! By the way “Brumus” is (or was) apparently the name of the owners dog. Sweet. It’s not possible to recommend ALL of the dishes but our dinner was marvellous.

The service was slower than you can believe. Really. We came to this beautiful restaurant in Haymarket an hour before a Saturday matinee. We ordered salad and soup and told our waiter we were seeing a matinee. Nothing. We nudged him again. More nothing. 40 minutes later we got our meal. Seriously: what were they doing? How on earth can a bowl of soup and a salad take 40 minutes? Including us, there were four tables occupied; 11 customers. Food was actually good, but no meal is worth sitting like a chump, worried you're going to miss the play. (We made it with all of three minutes to spare).

We booked this at 6pm thinking it would be ideal before a theatre show nearby at 7.30 pm. The staff knew we were going to the theatre and our first courses came fairly quickly but by 7pm our main courses had still not arrived. We asked twice what had happened. The first time the waiter never came back and the second we were told that they were very busy that night, and the food finally came out at about 7.05 after we were ready to leave after there was no reassurance that our food was actually coming. I had ordered mussels and didn't have time to finish them. It was not the relaxed dinner that we had hoped for. Communication was really lacking and no one apologised properly to us. We noticed that couple at the table next to us were similarly inconvenienced. We have been to Brumus before and found it to be a lovely venue and the staff seemed very professional but when something went wrong they weren't able to address the situation properly. The food was good but overall it was disappointing and I wouldn't risk going there again before the theatre.

My wife booked a table there to have a dinner before The Phantom on the Opera. We have selected a set menu (2 course for £22pp). It's quite obvious, that if you have selected a set menu, that shouldn't takes long to cook it as the most of items are ready. We have spent 1 hour and 30 minutes there. Which is quite fair time. However, we have ordered 2 glasses of Chablis (very expensive white wine), that was so warm. Cesar salad was served like some one chopped wherever it was available and added £1 Tesco sauce on the top. Second meal we were waiting for 40 minutes!!! Seriously!!! That is not good timing for set menu. We have chaise our second meal several times. As the result, we have had our second meal overcooked (they kept it too long into heater or re-heat this one several times), mash potato was cold, fish too dry. They even haven't offer a tap water. I've ordered the second glass of wine and they couldn't serve it for 15 minutes!!! Very bad management and timing. All of this happened on our Wedding anniversary day (we are married for 25 years) and that evening supposed to me something very special. So, avoid that place if you don't want to be disappointed. Oh, the guest taken they desserts in a box, as the kitchen couldn't serve them on time as well. Manager offers me a special treat if we came back there again. No f......g way I'll return to that place even for free of charge!!!

Spent £85 for 2 people on a 2 course meal which was the most boring meal out in a while. The tortellini and the soup would have been nicer had they come from a nice supermarket as a ready meal. The atmosphere was also not nice and the staff mostly seemed like they didn’t want to be there and we were a bit of an inconvenience to them. I decided to take my Mum for a pre theatre meal here, as the pre theatre menu had good reviews. The decor and service was good but we were disappointed by our food. We both had sea bream as our main which was OK but we were surprised that the dessert was either victoria sponge cake, plum frangepane tart or chocolate fudge cake. We chose the chocolate fudge cake and the plum frangepane tart but the tart was still very chilled almost frozen and so we couldn’t eat it so we asked for the victoria sponge cake instead. The cakes were nothing special and we expected something a little more exciting than a slice of cake as the dessert option.

The fish over cooked and tasteless. Vegetables were cold. - wine was £12 per glass: pricey for what it was - if the food was low-average price then it would have been acceptable experience but it was £130 per couple. Stellar experience. My mom and I were visiting London and came across this lovely restaurant from the sign posted outside about Jazz night later that evening. We decided to ask for a table and although full the manager, Alin, was kind to take our name and mobile number and mentioned upon our return when ready to dine he would find a table to accommodate. We returned earlier than expected and to our delight his offer still stood and he offered us a table in the bar area close to the Jazz with the ability to still have dinner in that room. The waiter, Josh, was very hospitable, polite, professional, timely, and always with a smile. He was the kind of waiter you hope to have service you at every restaurant. I had ordered the steak well done and when it arrived, I took notice it was not well done at all. Considering how busy the venue was that evening and accommodating us last minute with a table, I managed to eat most of the steak. However, I noticed it was raw and then Josh appeared and noticed as well and was very apologetic. He took the steak and even though I asked to just quickly flash it no worries, he returned with two complimentary champagne glasses (one for me and one for my mom) to apologize and then returned with a whole new steak and fries. Just wow. Completely above and beyond. I was so impressed that I just thanked him over and over for his attention to detail, tipped him extra and also informed his manager Alin especially that it's the holidays, review time, bonus time - Josh is a true example of the standard wait service should match. Thank you Josh and Alin! We will certainly return for a future visit. Good steak, good service, good music is a win win situation for a delightful evening. MANY THANKS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Fantastic food and fantastic service would recommend to anyone who wants good fine dining. The venison was melt in the mouth, in fact everything we had was cooked to perfection and the maitre d was very on point

Great food!! Haven't been here for a while - just as good as we remembered. The decor is understated and the food is excellent. Service was as good as in the past and the new manager balances friendliness with professionalism.

My friend and I had the set menu and were not disappointed. We both chose the same: Smoked trout parfait, Sea Bass with sides of frites, and roasted root vegetable follwed by the Treacle tart with sauce and ice cream. The portions were all of a good size and were all very delicious. The waiters were cheery and friendly. Amor was our main waiter and was charming. We left with full stomachs and were very happy with everything. We both would have no hesitation to return here again. Go on, try it!

a good set menu but my main came up cold - it was taken back and replacement arrived 15 mins later when friends had already finished their meal. Had no cutlery either. Pudding arrived and no cutlery. All in all very disappointing although the food...

Moderately priced, well designed place with a cheap, generic-looking, pre-theater prix-fixe menu. A La carte, the celeriac and truffle soup is very simple and tastes like unadorned autumn. The pumpkin risotto was also nice, as was the poached pears and fried oat ice cream.

Our party of five chose from the pre theatre menu We all had two courses and were all very happy with our choices. Very good value for money. Our first choice of wine was not available, but the second choice was satisfactory. Service was friendly if a little slow, but understandable to a point given the pre theatre rush. Lovely ambience. We will definitely return.

What a find! A Pre theatre meal at this really excellent restaurant last week with friends made us determined to go again very soon. Firstly, it’s an elegant and pleasant room which feel’s comfortable and welcoming, long banquettes along the walls, interesting artwork, intimate lighting....

To get a three course lunch of this quality in The Haymarket in central London for £28 a head was astonishing. We were treated with care, attention and respect.

Two of four main courses were wrong. By the time this was corrected, we had to bolt our food down and run to theatre. Charged full amount inc service - not amused. Shame, as it is a lovely place.

Pre theater dinner for two from the set menu. Portions just the right size (not recommended if you are looking for huge meals), served quickly, efficiently and attentively without being intrusive. Lovely decor too. Will definitely go again.

Came as part of a Christmas party last week downstairs (didn't even know there was a downstairs!) The food and drink were great and Cherly and the team looked after us well. Hopefully will be back for next Christmas if not sooner!

Don't go there!... We arrived before 1 p.m. and ordered 2 croque monsieurs, we said that we would be served quickly (so we immediately booked a tour of Westminster for 2 p.m./2:30 p.m.). At 1:40 p.m. we were told that our order had not yet been issued (even though there were 9 customers in the restaurant), and that it would take 7 minutes for it to come out. We confirm that we are taking it anyway since we had not had breakfast. Well, at 2 p.m. we got up and left without having seen the shadow of a croque monsieur. So we ran to Westminster to enjoy our visit, on empty stomachs from the day before. And so I'm writing this message at 5 p.m. still having eaten nothing. Ashamed !!! Noting that when leaving we still paid almost €20 for our drinks for a coke and a spritz without the slightest action being made. In short, if you want to waste your time, you understand (and even then I find it hard to imagine if I had ordered a slightly more sophisticated dish)

Service was good and drinks fine but the food was not good. The focus seems to be on speed of service and keeping prices fair instead of quality. We had two very basic roast meals. Turkey dinner was almost barely warm including the gravy, no pig in blanket, carrots boiled not glazed. Roast beef with cold gravy again and the roast potatoes were dry and tasteless - reheated (at 1pm?) and not warm - certainly no duck fat involved. We pointed out the food being cold and just got a shrug. They did reheat the gravy. We ate it as no time to complain and start again elsewhere. It was edible - just a disappointment. Charge a little more if you need to - just provide value! Wine and beer were fine.
