Berners tavern in City of London, Westminster

The food here has remained very good, and the level of service is top notch. Professional but very friendly staff, trained to see that diners have a great experience. Add to that the sumptuous dining room and all in all it’s a treat. I found the desserts slightly less excellent than the rest of the food but still very good.

Great, the location looks first class. Service is also beyond reproach. I really liked it and it was in a great central location.

Overall a bit underwhelmed. Nice room, incredible ceiling but the artwork looks better in photos- rather cheap looking prints, photographs and a few actual paintings here and there. Enjoyed the Pork Pistachio Pie immensely. The mustards were zingy and the pickles nice but could have benefited from a different level of vinegar/sugar/salt in each one. Ray Wing Schnitzel was well cooked but topped with a very acidic fennel orange salad which really lacked balance. Lamb Rump was switched for a different cut, with a few small adjustments to the accompaniments. It was also good but not superb by any stretch. We decided to pass on dessert. When the bill came it was clear the server, who was fine if not overly attentive (the room was less than half full) expected a generous tip on top of the existing service charge. My partner described the place perfectly- it’s slightly elevated hotel dining. Don’t expect more and you should be fine.

We had the most amazing meal here! The pork and pistachio pie was inventive, with complex flavors, and the macaroni and cheese really scratched that “missing food from home” itch. The montepulciano was also fantastic. Fejdis took such good care of us and made us feel at home! Best meal we ate in London!

We had such an amazing dinner experience here. The staff went above and beyond to make our night very memorable and special. The waiters and hosts were super attentive, welcoming and in particular, Gi Gi learned all our names at the start and organised for a phenomenal gift for us to take home as well as a surprise cake. Very grateful to the team for making this such a personalised evening for us and could not recommend this restaurant enough, the food and atmosphere are next level and the service really is one of a kind! 10+ stars across the board!

We recently visited Berners Tavern, and it was a memorable experience. The cocktails were absolutely delicious—full of bold, layered flavors that really impressed us. Each one felt carefully crafted and unique. The setting is also something special. The hall of the tavern is simply stunning—elegant, grand, and full of atmosphere. It definitely adds to the overall experience and makes it feel like a treat. On the downside, we did find the prices a bit steep. Yes, it’s a 5-star hotel, and we understand you pay for the setting and service—but £20 for a cocktail feels a bit much. We're from Switzerland, and even there the prices for cocktails aren’t typically that high. Reducing the price by just £2–3 per glass would make it feel a lot more balanced and fair. That said, it’s still a beautiful place with great drinks—perfect for a special night out.

Emanuele and John offered us an amazing service and let us try their new list of cocktails which were of an amazingly wide range, from refreshing and revitalising to the strong and impacting which I enjoyed the most! Definitely a place to be tried!

So elegant yet so disappointing. This restaurant looks amazing with dramatic painting-covered walls and cozy leather booths. Yet the food and service are stunningly off. The risotto was so oversalted it was inedible. The lamb was so completely rare we expected it to start bleating. The spinach and wild garlic soup was very good. Our waiter was extremely charming but mysteriously disappeared for 30 minutes in the middle of the meal. It is like Berners was conceived for Instagram — but no one bothered to put care into the food and service.

Quite an overpriced and underwhelming experience. The Lemon Sole was dry with a smattering of diced prawns, and the Côte de Boeuf just ok. I think we’d have had more fun for less at a pub.

Absolutely gorgeous room, but the food was awful.

The space is cavernous and very grand, and the food was similarly quite grand (but still very good). I had the pork pie and cote de boeuf which were both excellent, and the service was mostly very good.

Really lovely room and comfortable bar area for pre-meal drinks. Couldn't fault the staff or service. They were all excellent. However in my opinion the food, good though it is didn't blow me away. I was expecting better at this price point.

This is a magical atmosphere restaurant in the middle of the city. Lovely stuff everybody's very helpful. They gave us a very nice circle table for eight people. All the walls are full of amazing paintings. Starters were lovely fish was excellent but the meats we have eaten was not that good at that night. They politely tasted themselves and made it up by offering and bringing other great foods.. So even in the best restaurants, it's OK to have some difference in sometimes overall be out there. We will definitely give another chance. .thank you

Excellent atmosphere, great vibe for a Saturday. Not all the wait staff worked in sync with each other. I usually don’t find restaurants immediately taking our drink & food order together. Also one staff member came off entirely rude. Food had a lovely presentation but meats were not of a lean cut. Careful what you order here.

Very bad experience last night. Even if online there were free tables for two at the restaurant, the manager decided to place us at the bar. While they took the coats of other guests none took ours. We were very disappointed about the service! The food was average for the expensive price and the cake was not good at all. The restaurant looks beautiful but the atmosphere is a bit fake. I would recommend to go somewhere else!

10 out of 10! Great ambiance, loved the decorations. The service was immaculate. The food & drinks were delicious. The space was airy and we could hear each other talking , it wasn’t a super loud place. We had the best time with my girlfriends, definetely feels like a great choice for a special night out.

Had set lunch menu. Burrata with focaccia toast was absolutely delicious. Risotto was good but artichokes were a bit uncooked. Would def go back.

Five of us were here last week for dinner to catch-up with friends in this beautiful place for the first time and we're all very impressed! Food is excellent. Côte de boeuf, tuna tartare, chateaubriand and lobster mac & cheese are my favourite. The service is top notch! From the manager Predrag to the DJ turned sommelier Ricardo (who recommended us Amarone wine - so so delicious) to our knowledgeable waiter Mr Gigi ... They worked seamlessly, not intrusive but very efficient. All made us feel very special. Highly recommend to everyone. Definitely will be back!

Lots of paintings on the wall, yet cosy and friendly service. We had breakfast which was delicious and very nicely served.

Gran comedor, gran decoración y muy pintoresco. La desventaja es bastante ruidoso dado que el ruido rebota por todas partes. Comida muy bien hecha pero el tamaño de los entrantes es realmente pobre (50 gr de comida max) , esto es realmente empujarlo siento. Entonces £ 47 para un ojo de costilla que es muy promedio y no particularmente grande. Con un precio de la carta de vinos que comienza en aproximadamente £ 80 la botella, esto no es una buena relación calidad-precio en absoluto. No voy a volver.

It's worth a visit if your out in London. For a bite to eat on your own or with friends. The food is top end. I liked the eggs Benedict and the French Beef. Cooked medium rare just how asked for. Staff ate friendly and happy to help.

Great place, I recommend visiting. Amazing design. Good service, according to all the rules of etiquette, i.e. if one of the participants does not finish eating, then the next dishes will not be cooked, they serve food at the same time, on the right side. Food. I tried salmon with egg and caviar, everything is fresh and goes well. For the second course there was lamb, it was juicy. Fruit salad for dessert, it was decorated like a cake. All the dishes were delicious. I can recommend this place for enjoying the combination of quality service, delicious food and incredible design.

The atmosphere was amazing and service was great.The food was full of flavour and would recommend it to any one 🫶

A highlight was definitely the nice interior of the restaurant. The food was good, although, the vegetarian dishes were overpriced, in my opinion, compared to the meat-based dishes. The servers were generally very nice, however, the server assigned to our table came across as a bit unfriendly (table 16). We also felt that the tables on the side were a bit too close to each other - seating is probably best at one of the center tables.

Was there for the second time and dont think will return. Not worth the price for the food quality. Menu hasnt changed for over 11 months and food choice totally boring and not worth the extremely high prices. Double tables are too near making it impossible to have a private conversation.

Was a wonderful dinner! Everything was perfect! From the plates to the service to the location everything was top of the top! Can’t wait to be there again! One of the best restaurants I have been during my vacations

My son and daughter in law ordered the chateaubriand. It was very very expensive. But it was inedible — so gristly you had to chew a bite for 10 minutes. I ordered a fish dish but the waiter later informed it had tree nuts (which I am allergic to), but the menu didn’t list any tree nuts. So I had to order a fish dish almost twice as expensive. Overall the restaurant was very disappointing.

Amazing service from these staff, very welcoming and helpful. Food was delivered steaming hot not one bit was cold, very enjoyable food and service. Atmosphere was impeccable could not have wanted more from this restaurant.

Overall a positive experience but some areas that could be improved. 1. If I’d wanted Champagne I would have ordered it. Very awkward when it is bought to me as host with guests to say no thanks when it then looks like I’m turning it away for my guests. At mid price £35 per small glass it was an excellent sale but it won’t encourage me to return. 2. Online there is a lunch time set menu. This wasn’t even offered. Again very awkward when I’m the host asking my guests to also have a cheaper menu, even though what we chose was on it and I would have paid much less for exactly the same 3. Still water at £7/ bottle. Again no pro active offer of tap water or a statement after choosing still that it wasn’t feee! 4. Hard floors make it noisy and harder to hear even when close. That having been said, the service was excellent and the greeting on arrival very warm. Super setting for the restaurant. Food was excellent and of good proportions. This could have been so much better. Short term wins on the prices I paid are a long term loss as I’ll not rush to return feeling hard done by.

Service was slow. Steak took a long time coming and was cold when it came and instead of medium rare as requested was medium as had clearly been left "cooking" on the side for too long. Lovely ambience and amazing room but let down by service and food.

Berners Tavern is what is referred to as upscale, in a beautiful room, with carefully rather than creatively or brilliantly created food and is very expensive. Cheapest fizz per glass is £25 + 13.5%) and is optimistically wheeled into frame with its (even) more premium stablemates on a trolley when you sit down. We were there for a family brunch on Saturday. It wasn't particularly busy but what surprised me was the gentle thoughtfulness of the staff. They didn't try to up-sell us, were happy to let us drink tap water, explained diligently how they couldn't cook a hamburger medium rare even though they liked that too (health and safety) and were very thoughtful in offering help to my daughter who is unwell. The same gentleness was evident from everyone - from the lady at reception to the delightful Filipino waitress who attended our table, reading the pace of our group perfectly. Hats off to the team. Sometimes it is the little things that matter.

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. I really liked the food, especially the sole and the sirloin. The tuna appetiser with wasabi is next level as well. I feel the waiter can be less pushy when ordering, as we were only 2 and still wanted us to order more sides that were unecessary.

This is the first time we have eaten at the Berners Tavern and we had an excellent meal last night. One of the best we have had in London and we have eaten in many restaurants in town over the years. We loved the ambience and the service was very good too.

Excellent food I had the salmon starter and the mackerel and tarte tatin Service was impeccable and friendly at the same time. My belated birthday was celebrated with a lovely little chocolate treat and we weren’t expecting anything at all. Thank you so much!!!

Beautiful setting a very attentive service. Starters and mains were excellent, the dessert could have been better. Ordered the apple Tatin, was expecting something warm with burnt caramel, got strange apple slices that were cold as a witches tit. Pecan pie was great but again, very cold. Overall a good meal but the puddings could be better, quite pricey for what you get but would still go back and

Exquisite or divine, choose! The setting is particularly exceptional too, you have to eat here. We strongly recommend you to live an exceptional moment at Berners Tavern!
