Browns Bar & Brasserie in Liverpool

Visited today for lunch with my friend. We'd not seen each other for over a year, and Jason was very patient with us, allowing us extra time to choose from the menu, as we were so busy chattering away. He was so warm and welcoming and really put us at ease straight away. The food was gorgeous, but I think what really shone out for us both was Jason's excellent customer service. He was polite but friendly and checked in with us regularly to make sure our food was up to scratch and we were enjoying our visit. A real asset to the Brown's team!

Wonderful service. Once again from Gary He really is an asset to Browns and always ensures that the order is 100% . He will also accommodate any charger that we request too !!

Had a great time for an early evening meal before the theatre. We had a 3 course meal for £23.95 each, which was a bargain considering that the food was delicious and our server Lisa was brilliant. Will definitely be back again!!

My boyfriend and I came here for a date night and both got the fillet steak with scallops. The steak was so chewy and fatty and definitely not what you’d expect for £40. To add to it it was our second choice as the chateaubriand which we initially requested was not available. The waitress was lovely but they were understaffed and service was slow. £129 for 2 fatty chewy fillet steaks and a bottle of wine is outrageous. Won’t be returning as this is our second disappointing visit

Me and my girlfriend came here today. We tried ordering the chateaubriand but was told this wasn't available, I get that produce run out but they could have told us before sitting down and deciding what we want. We then went for the fillet with scallops (was 40 each compared to 70 between both for the chateaubriand) scallops were amazing can't fault them, if i had 20 of them on its own this meal would be 10/10. The steak was the worst fillet I've had. So fatty, tough and horrible. This is the second time I've been here and ordered the fillet, first time was the same but assumed it was a bad day. Paid £130 for the meal for 2 and honestly regret it. Aldi fillet steaks are better quality. £3 for a fimble full of pepper corn sauce is shocking as well. Would happily pay these prices if the quality was worth it but browns just isn't. 3rd visit here and most certainly my last

Very disappointing delivery of what should have been a lovely New Year’s Eve menu. -Despite booking over a month ahead, pre ordering and paying the deposit, one main of our 4 had ‘run out’. -The bread pieces on the plate of one starter were so hard that they could not be put on a fork without being propelled across the room. - Elements of the described dishes were missing - eg no samphire with the fish. -the monkfish was cooked enough to bounce. -the eton mess had one sliver of meringue but was otherwise cream and the pineapple in it was neither ‘caramelised’ nor properly removed from its tough core. - No truffles or mince pies appeared with the coffee despite being part of the advertised menu.. -The live piano music stopped at 9 despite bookings running on into the evening. All in all, this was a poor show Browns only redeemed by the pleasant staff.

Great food, lovely ambience and fantastic service. We visited Brown’s whilst in Liverpool on a festive break and weren’t disappointed. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely return!

Huge thanks to Anthony and Harry for an absolutely wonderful time at Browns. Walked in being in the mood for cocktails, and within mere seconds they gave us a full list of recommendations and nailed down exactly what we wanted to a T!! Absolutely terrific little chinwag, made us feel right at home. We'll be sure to come back again soon for more drinks after Christmas shopping. Four of us went to Browns before going to the Liverpool game last night, we were delighted with the food and service, Gary looked after us very well, we chatted about football and he confessed he was a Tranmere fan, I work for M&B and offered to pay his bus fare to come and work for me in Derby, he is a credit to your team, keep up the fantastic work

Fish & Chips were delicious, and server Rach was really polite today with excellent service. Just took a bit long for the food to arrive but other than that not really any issues.

We had to call into Liverpool on our way home from work , so decided to get something to eat while we were in this incredible city of Liverpool . Most of our usual places were closed as it was a Monday night, but all was not lost as Brown’s were open. Have to say inside is really pleasant and comfortable , great decor and the food is spot on.Our server Emma, worked tirelessly to make sure that we were looked after and all done with a beautiful smile ..that girl does not stop … thank you so much for making an impromptu evening meal a true pleasure J:o)

Service is terrible, food was cold and vile , never eat here again, dry and nasty , no offer of salt and pepper and not seen anyone since we made our order! Avoid if possible guys , waste of hard earned money

My daughter treated me to lunch here after shopping trip. The food was very good and the staff nice and friendly. I had crispy duck and melon as a starter but there was too much carrot. The waitress said she would tell the kitchen and she agreed with me. The main I had fish cake but rather a lot of Kale which I hate. The meal was very good. We have been before and would go again.

Me and my family came here for a joint celebration my 18th and my sisters graduation the overall vibe of the place is very comfortable and the food was amazing no complaints we would definitely eat here again and our waitress Keira was amazing she took care of our every need and was a delightfully bubbly waitress.

We went for the festive menu on a xmas shopping trip mainly due to the lovely xmas meal we had last year. However the standard was nowhere near last years, bland roasts, gravy, greens and stuffing. everything was average at best. Cheese and biscuits with no chutney, fig or celery part from that it was as listed! Service was good but won't be back anytime soon for the price point and quality there are better options.

Came here for my birthday, amazing service and amazing food , fabulous waiter named Judah who ensured everything was perfect and was happy to help sort out minor issues we had with ID. Service and food was impeccable will come again !

Enjoyed a fantastic Christmas lunch with nine colleagues. The atmosphere was relaxed yet enjoyable throughout the restaurant and the food was fantastic. Browns put a different twist on a Christmas lunch we was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. We were served by a young man called Judah who was outstanding, he was very efficient but also had a very friendly manner and nothing was too much trouble. Judah made a very good meal perfect with his serving style. Browns Liverpool is highly recommended.

Slow kitchen service and average food. Table for four booked for 8pm. Eventually sat down at 8.30 after reminding them we were still there. Two starters ordered, one of them was wrong! We reminded them at 10.15 (!) that we were still waiting for our mains. We were offered a drink while we waited and one glass of wine was ordered. Food came eventually and was average at most. There was a service charge in the bill and the one glass of wine “while we waited” had been charged for. We complained and it was taken off as was the service charge and 10% of the bill. There are better places to go in Liverpool I’m sure.

Booked in here for Afternoon Tea 8 months in advance. Actually booked for the Browns 50th Birthday Afternoon tea as it looked better than the ‘Festive one’ when we arrived we were given the afternoon tea that was meant to be festive, nothing festive about it. The waitress argued that there was no way we could have booked for the Browns 50th Birthday Afternoon tea. Er, we did !! What we received was disgusting. Cakes were small and very boring. Sandwiches soggy and the choice was dire. I was really looking forward to this and brought 20 people with me. Very disappointing. There were so many managers in that place and no one had a clue !!! I usually love Browns but this was appalling, the worst afternoon tea I’ve had. Complete waste of money. We left most of it, well we boxed it up and gave it away to a homeless bloke. Save your hard earned money and go somewhere decent.

Popped in for an impromptu Christmas lunch when I was in the city for work. Food was excellent and my first turkey dinner of the season was lovely! Great veg and excellent gravy! Top notch from the kitchen!!

Disgusting food in a confused atmosphere. We had our family Christmas gathering here last night. They had clearly over booked aside from that the food wasn’t good enough to serve to dogs Prawn cocktail - lettuce left wet so sauce was like water Fish and chips - batter was black it was that burnt and chips clearly cooked in old oil Burger- bloody and undercooked GF Sea bass - served not GF so made my aunty immediately ill Child’s sausage and mash - sausage burnt to a crisp Apple crumble - cooked in a pot that had previously had fish in it as there was a distinct fishy taste in all 3 servings Shepherds pie- watery mash All meals cakes at varying times, sides forgotten. Waited two hours for our water. The most insulting part was that they offered to ‘remove the service charge’ only to reflect this appalling service. Having sent the bill back twice we left. Some of the party having not eaten. Utterly disgusted and upon reflection should have refused to pay altogether. Such a shame as this has been a regular spot for my family for years The toilet facilities were filthy and some of them flooded I felt so sorry for our waitress Lisa who had to negotiate with people bringing our food out whilst she attempted to clear our table. I hope this review helps people avoid disappointment
