A horrible place worst bank holiday weekend we've ever spent on a campsite! No entertainment absolutely nothing! In spite of it being so quiet we still had to wait ages for a drink! The landlord was aggressive & rude right from our arrival & for facilities it was expensive! £30 per night Inc electric but when our electric kept tripping he blamed us! We were disappointed & went to local shop for our food & drink for the rest of our stay! We'd hoped to socialise & make new friends but not there you won't!

The landlord ( paul) has put his heart n soul in this perfect site..If you want to relax its here, if you want good food its here , good beer/ and top shelf is well stocked..showers on site, lots of electric hookups..Its a good site for the campers as well plenty room for the small or large tents.. walks along the trent can go for miles if you want..If its raining the pub has a large room for the family ( children must be supervised) pool table large screen tv, jukebox. The restuant is very good too. lots of choice, both adult and the kids food, with waitress service...Honestly its the best site we"ve been to for years. cannot fault it...

The Brownlow Arms is welcoming to all. Staff are hardworking keeping the drinks flowing, the food is delicious and the entertainment and venue for parties is great. Nice for a family gathering, couples drink or to socialize with friends. It’s a pub you can go in alone and not feel awkward also. I recommend a visit and they have camping pitches available too.

New management in and the food is lovely, menu changes and specials are a lovely twist and value for money, visited over Bank Holiday, fabulous disco on the Sat, all tastes catered for so cannot understand the review about it being terrible, maybe it’s someone who needs a hearing test or a moaner who dislikes music and fun, either way get a life, the band on the Sunday were also good, all in all a good entertaining weekend. Big difference in the pub especially from my last visit, nice to see it busy again, hopefully the new management will improve the shower & toilets in time but everything looks promising for the future and I will deffo visit again. Nice to see friendly bar staff as well.

Lovely spot with a decent campsite. Great for families with walks along the River Trent. Pub serves decent food at reasonably prices. Range of lagers and real ales. Entertainment is often provided.

Nice campsite at the side of the river Trent. Play area for children. Plenty of walks for the dogs. The pub and campsite are under new management, not quite a month since they took over and the campsite is better organised, the facilities are being improved, the pub is clean and welcoming. The food is reasonably priced and good. There is sometimes entertainment on a Saturday afternoon till the evening.

Campsite Dirty and unkept. Traffic cone in middle of field where tree had been felled. Toilets and shower facilities dirty and unstocked. No toilet roll or hand towels. Hand wash left empty so I had to fill with water and make do. I paid £15 per night to basically park my van. Saturday we found the toilet block locked. We were told it had been miss used and the block would be locked, with a key available from the pub. Totally unsuitable. The landlady even told me that the use of toilet block was at her discretion. I am sure Environmental Health will be interested in her attitude. Pub Booked for 630 on Friday of stay. Ordered food and sat in a corner table instead of with group we had booked with who were in a separate room. The table next to us was used and vacated. Noone came to clean it in the time we remained there. At 745pm asked bar staff how long our food would be. Told a couple more minutes. At 815 we asked land lady where our food was. We were then told the chef was young and new, and they'd had some trouble. By that stage I was too hungry to wait any longer so cancelled, paid for our drinks and left. Attitude We were treated poorly all weekend by staff. It was even reported that we were badly spoken of to other guests by the landlady. I will not be returning. And am saddened I have to give any stars in my rating as I would have given minus if able to

Camp site small, amenities ie toilets for the campsite dreadful, don’t mind rough and ready but unkempt and unhygienic that’s another matter! Food was several hours late even though it was pre ordered, lots better sites out there for the money we paid.

We found this little gem whilst out on a cycle explore, excellent beers on offer, and a good choice of wine, we opted for the lager on this occasion due to being thirsty, well kept and served with a smile, no food being served when we visited but we'll certainly be back to try it.

The pub has made CAMRA REAL ALE GUIDE thanks to the hard work of the staff, the cellar and real ales are top notch, so once lockdown lifts and this lovely pub opens I really cannot wait to sample the resident and guest ales on offer, the food is good too, the pub also offers caravan and camping so I recommend it well worthy of a visit

We've been and eaten at this lovely pub lots of times, and visited today for Sunday lunch to try it out as it had new owners and a new menu. We were not disappointed. 3 of us had the turkey, 3 had the beef and it was all fantastic. The meat was fab quality, as were all the trimmings, all home cooked and delicious. There was even extra gravy served which was great. The only (very slight) negative was I would say the roast potatoes could have done with more cooking as they were a bit hard, but that hasn't affected my rating because the food was so good, as was the service and the warm welcome.

Visited the campsite and eat here several times, it has never disappointed. A proper English country pub but with lots of character and excellent service. The food is home cooked and you get lots of it. The campsite is located just over the lane from the pub and a couple of minutes walk from the river. Retford is only 20 minutes away too. Definitely worth a visit.

The pub itself was heaving probably due to the campsite attached here. The smell outside was awful due apparently to a neighbouring business but luckily it didn't follow us inside. The menu is HUGE with lots of specials which seems that's just the ordinary menu. The food arrived hot and the medium rare steak was exactly as ordered which doesn't happen all that often. Nice sized potions and value for money. Only gripe was the broccoli was overcooked but can forgive them as everything else was nice.

Qué lugar tan fantástico. El edificio conserva mucho de su carácter histórico. Las habitaciones están muy bien equipadas y muy cómodas. Mi habitación tenía un gran baño muy moderno. Lovely building in the Lincolnshire countryside. Nice welcome and went straight to our table but then we waited about 10 minutes for a drink order to be taken and menus to arrive. We were in the smaller of the two dining rooms and it was very hot. Windows didn't open and air con didn't work so towards the end of the meal it was unpleasant. The food was well prepared and enjoyed by us all. Braised Lamb was a big hit with one of us and poached chicken was very well prepared. Bill was £145 for 4 which included 3 beers and a bottle of wine. So it's a nice place to eat, service is but slow and on our night it was too hot.

I stayed on the Brownlow Arms camp site for most of the summer this year whilst working away from home. The owners and staff are very friendly as are the locals and the curry night on a Tuesday and steak night on a Thursday are both excellent value and offer exceptional value for money. There's an excellent variety of good and drink here and the premises are cosy if s little tired in places. Overall if you like your pub food you can't go wrong here.

I visited the Brownlow Arms last weekend for the first time with my partner who knows the area very well and who has gone fishing in the River Trent nearby and has stayed at the camp site next door. It was a Saturday night when we visited so the pub was quite busy. This is the sort of pub that I like to visit. Old school, no frills food, no fancy tills and orders written on pen and paper and taken by hand into the kitchen. My partner had a sirloin steak which he enjoyed and cleared his plate and I had beef medallions in stilton and pepper sauce which again was excellent. The gentleman behind the bar, I'm guessing he was the landlord, was very polite and apologised that I had to wait a few minutes to order our food. I can recommend this place to anyone who is looking for somewhere different to go, as the setting of the pub and the friendly people are definitely worth the visit.

Great setting shame about the food. 4 adults 4 kids. all food ice cold and amazingly small portions. Gravy arrived 10 minutes later, maybe to warm our food up. Unfortunatley we had all either finished or just left the food and written it off. anyway gravy turned out to be cold. Shame really because set in quite a nice setting but this is probably the worst We've ever had.- 1 derees outside but guy turns up in shorts, maybe just a weird place!

This is a lovely pub in a nice setting. I've been a few times now. It has a nice atmosphere and is always fairly busy. They always have 3 or 4 real ales on, including Timothy Taylor Landlord which happens to be one of my favourites. The staff are quite friendly too.I've eaten a couple of times previously too and on both occasions the food was lovely and the prices were very reasonable. I've recently started writing Trip Advisor reviews so was looking forward to leaving a review for the Browlow Arms following my next visit. However, on this occasion I was slightly disappointed. The steak was as tasty as before (and only £7 on a Thursday night) but the rest of the meal was poor. The chips were frozen oven chips, where as previously they had real homemade chips. The mushroom and the peas were really dry and of low quality.Slightly disappointing because the meals had been brilliant the previous two times. I'd be tempted to go back eventually but it's quite a drive for us so things would have to improve.

This pub is in a great location for a Sunday afternoon beer near to the river Trent. It has a good atmosphere with the main lounge area centred around a boat-shaped bar. There's also a more functional games bar. As other's have said, the food isn't of the highest quality, but it is good value. There's a small beer garden that's very pleasant, plus a large grassed area to the front of the pub with a children's play area.

Don't get me wrong the food is not al la carte but what they produce for the VERY realistic pricing is great also the menu choice is massive. The abbots ale was on form on Saturday evening and they accommodated our 6 person party with about 15 minutes notice. To say this place is tucked away it was quite busy. Well done Brownlow keep up the good work!

Four of us cycled to the Brownlow for a pint and a spot of lunch, what we got was decent beer and humble pub grub in a cosy bar with a roaring fire. If you're seeking fine cuisine, go elsewhere, but the Brownlow is cheap and cheerful fuel - albeit from freezer to microwave.

Frozen chips, dried up garden peas and what appeared to be a boil in the bag lamb shank! The menu stated that it was cooked in a minted sauce.....no evidence or taste of mint, just a congealed tasteless gravey! Sorry the food was awful.

We decided to call in to the brownlow as it had been advertised in the paper recently. We both orderd a mixed grill because it looked excellent value. It arrived the chips were frozen there was one mushroom, the onion rings were frozen, the steak was cooked how I asked but you couldn't eat it as it was to grissely. The advert for the food stated kidney but ours didn't come with any. A very disappointed meal was had, no one came to see what we thought overall very poor visit.

Staying in the area for a week and always like to try the local village pub. This one has to be one of the best, especially for food. Had lunch on Saturday absolutely amazing pork belly tapas with fries plus mac n cheese and went back the same evening for specialty burger plus a grilled garlic chicken all things worthy of a 10 out of 10 some of the best food ever tasted. Add to that very reasonable prices lovely staff friendly locals and impeccably clean toilets. Wish this pub was in our home town

Stayed here overnight after going to the nearby Race course Really nice place with its history and clocks! Friendly staff and a very efficient waitress at breakfast. Bed wasn’t the most comfortable but only stayed for one night, otherwise would have requested another room. To be fair we were given that option upon our arrival. One other downside was that the neighbouring room complained about the noise of our TV, which wasn’t actually that loud. The adjoining walls are clearly paper thin. All in all we would use the place again if needed.
