Brooks & Gao in Lambeth

Walking with my 2 young daughters (2+5 year olds) the plan was to go for a coffee but once we got there, noticed there was no indoor seating. So was not ideal for us but as always my daughter wanted to go to the toilet. So politely asked a staff member if my daughter use the toilet. To my surprise the staff member without thinking was like THEY ARE FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY. I was completely shocked by this, how could someone refuse a child to use there toilets.

The savoury food is incredible, the pastry’s/indulgent bites/cakes are magnificent! The coffee is fantastic. Honestly, if you would like a coffee and some food it’s the most elite place on the high street.

The quality of food here is unbelievable, if you stumbled across this in town, or on a city break somewhere, you’d be recommending everyone you know to go, we’re so lucky to have it in Streatham Staff are always lovely too

Kids friendly cafe! With seats outside, it is easy to bring prams and meet up with other moms and babies here. Good coffee, wine and pastries.

I happily walk past a dozen cafes every time I visit knowing I'm going to have one of the best coffees locally, amazing blood orange juice when it's in season and delicious food! Only complaint is it's hard to walk out without buying all the other produce they have!

Always an incredible selection of pastries, sandwiches and deli products. My favourite local spot for a coffee or a quick lunch. The focaccia with burrata, fennel, radicchio and chilli was divine. Great place with wonderful people

The place itself is lovely,the cofee is nice and there is a wide selection of croissants, cakes,options for breakfast etc. However, despite that we felt rushed every time we came. Once they had plenty tables available and they collected all plates and cups as soon as you finish your coffee, which is indirectly saying pay the bill an go. This may make sense if there are plently people waiting to get seated. However, it is not a nice feeling not to be able to take time at the coffee shop.

I can’t believe this place exists in this high street that is so dominated by chains and average food options. Everything on display looked amazing and left to my own devices I would have spent a little fortune and the rest of my morning eating through it. Great deli selection and tasty pastries. I didn’t try the coffee but had a blood orange juice that was fantastic. I will definitely come back for some of the lunch options once the weather improves! (The only seats are outside)

Terrible that you charge 50p extra for somebody to use plant milk instead of cow milk. Awful for people who are unable to drink dairy, and for people who want to be more environmentally friendly and/or ethical since dairy milk is far worse for the environment than oat milk and also involves animal exploitation and slaughter. I know oat milk costs you more, but not 50p more per little splash. Outrageous! Also they don’t even warn you when you order of this extortionate extra charge. Will never return. Coffee was gross anyway.

Unbelievable food and fresh hot pastries- the cinnamon bun and empanadas are just unreal! Everything is fresh and gorgeous!

The cutest neighborhood deli + coffee place! They always have a delish range of cakes and baked goods, and recently tried their grilled cheese with n’duja and it was just as insane as it looks. They currently only have outside seating so make sure to wrap up warm if you want to eat there but totally worth it, everything I’ve tried from there has been incredible - the carrot cake is also a personal favorite!

Very nice coffee and great cheeses & wine, however the seating is very awkward. Tables are on busy pathway right next to a busy road. Not relaxing at all.

Been a loyal customer of Brooks and Gao since 2018, it is the best food and produce you can buy in Streatham without a shadow of doubt. If you haven't tried them and you're a foodie, get there asap, it opens Wed-Sun 10-2:30

A lovely deli and cafe — they have an excellent range of produce to take away, including lots of lovely cakes and pastries, really good fresh produce and different wines. Their menu of sandwiches is delicious and made with top quality ingredients, as is their coffee. When I went around Christmas to find a present the thing I was after was temporarily out of stock, but they kindly delivered it to me once it was in stock again. Highly recommend.

Just moved to the area and was looking for a new sarnie spot. I saw this place online and had the focaccia, salami rosa, aioli, pistachio salsa, radicchio. It was comfortably one of the best things i've ever eaten in London, I cannot gas this place up enough. Also speedy service considering it's made to order. Bit pricey yes, and brief opening hours each day, but the quality speaks for itself and is worth every penny and definitely worth scheduling your day around. Looked like there was a wonderful selection of European cheese, wine and bread too so I'll definitely be going back!

A lovely cafe on the Main Street with a wide selection of cheese and breads to takeaway. We enjoyed their drink selection and were delighted with the very cheesy toastie. A local must!

Such gorgeous high quality food, you feel like you have stepped into a little Spanish restaurant! Absolutely love the variety and colours of the food they have, all done to such a high standard and they know a huge amount about where everything has come from. Recommend there lunch dishes and most of the cheeses!

During this latest period of restrictions, B and G have reinvented themselves as grocers par excellence. I have enjoyed unctuous, soft jams from The Frenchman, a beautiful range of cheeses and exquisite handmade french butter. The tomatoes, peaches, nectarines, cherries and wild garlic have been a tonic for drooping spirits. Dan and Cheng are thoughtful, committed providers, stocking and serving food you cannot easily find elsewhere. If you want to eat great food served by genuine guys, come here.

Amazing coffee, great atmosphere and even greater service

I had the most delicious tomato and burrata salad from here. It was so good I literally cannot stop thinking about it! Lovely, friendly team that work there too. Highly recommend

I found this gem a while back whilst working nearby. Possibly some of the best small plates in London - better than most cafes in London right now ( and I have been to most of them!! ). Excellent well sourced quality ingredients. Delicious coffee and baked goods( especially the brownies ). Amazing wine selection to try and also buy as gifts. Overall wonderful- must try!

The best brunch in SW16 by a long way! We also love their evening menu, with superb wines, charcuterie and the most delicious artichoke ever.

I love the atmosphere in this little Streatham Hill Cafe. I have coffee and cake there every time I visit my daughter and her partner and it is one of my favourite places

Delicious coffee, tasty breakfast and amazing cakes - especially the Breton cakes - so buttery! The staff are lovely and the surroundings are pretty chill. Great place to sit and get some work done whilst grazing on tasty treats.

It's the only place in Streatham so far where I can take my book and not really be disturbed. The menu can be something really simple or something a bit more exotic and the staff usually seem really friendly.

El servicio fue rápido y el personal estaba bien informado sobre las ofertas especiales y excelente para recomendar qué platos probar. Just wanted to say how lucky we are to have this great place on Streatham High Road .No need to stray to Balham ! Our family's "go to" for weekend breakfasts and also great in the evenings for light tapas style dining . Lovely simple beautifully prepared fresh produce . Breakfast sandwich is awesome , really nice cakes/pastries , best coffee , interesting wine list (evenings of course) and attentive pleasant staff . We are big fans !

Burrata with preserved lemon was wonderful, as were the grilled padron peppers.

Brooks and Gao are (luckily) our closest restaurant to our home in Streatham, and we have been visiting every week since we moved in last September for one simple reason: the dinner is the best in Streatham and maybe even the best in south west London. Dinners are tapas style small plates with influences from the Middle East, Mediterranean and even France (with their small plate raclette, roasted fluffy potato and cornichon dish), and it’s the epitome of keeping things simple but using only the finest ingredients. You should order between 4-6 plates, and what you get is a flavour explosion in your mouth from the various flavours and influences from around the world. Dinner runs from Thursday to Saturday each week, though they might soon start to do it Wednesdays (Summer months) too but let’s see when/if that happens. Love the service, the passion of Daniel and the friendliness and commitment to quality. Do yourself and favour and head down here for dinner on a Thursday Friday or Saturday! Oh and try the primitivo!

Really good iced coffee which was surprisingly quite strong! The cinnamon bun was unusual but really tasty and not very sweet so was right up my street. Would go back to try the brunch. Tables and chairs were a bit wobbly so you had to balance your eating experience a bit - but good all round!

We visited this cafe by accident. We entered and it was not clear what sort of place it was, furnished with old scholastics chairs (some of them broken) and a counter with food products that the flies could eat too.. we sat and waited for the waiter to come to take the order, we waited more than 10 minutes but the waiter did not approached our table. My boyfriend had to go to and order at the counter, which seemed silly to me because I was seeing the waiter moving between the tables at sloth pace caring to clear tables and not caring about the customers that had a menu in front of them nodding to him like “hello can we order”. After long wait again, we received food and drinks, and the food order was wrong!!! The person who took the order at the counter said that he could add a sauce to the dish. I found the price of what they serve to be ridiculous, because these dishes have no special preparation. They just take simple ingredients and place assemble them on the plate. We saw a family entering the cafe saying they had a reservation, they took seats... the waiter and the cook started to laugh in front of all the customers like making fun of the family for saying they had a reservation. Yeah Brooks and Gao too cool ..

Food is variable, I've had great food but I've had awful too. Coffee is bitter to my taste, and served in a glass - so too hot to hold and pretentious. Creative but pricey menu, great looking space, but the owner can be unfriendly and surly at times. Better to go to Boyce da Roca up the road.

Great little cosy place on streatham high road. It was a Tuesday morning when I visited so it wasn't super busy but customers were popping in and out continuously which gave it a good energy without it feeling manic. The lady on hand was super friendly and attentive and service was great. The menu was different to other traditional breakfast and brunch menus I had seen which I loved. A mix of Spanish, Italian, Greek, middle eastern dishes. I had the baked aubergine wig eggs. This was DELICIOUS. The aubergine melt in the mouth, the eggs cooked perfectly. It was really savoury and the bread complimented it perfectly. I also had a well made oat milk cappuccino. Overall a lovely little place in SW London.

My first time here. Really cosy rustic little cafe on the high road. They have a great menu and selection of breakfast and brunchy food. I had the baked egg and aubergine which was DELICIOUS. Everything was perfect.

Came here for breakfast on Saturday morning just before 10. We were the first customers in, and received a warm welcome. My first time here, but the coffee was excellent and the food quality was very good. The portions were a touch small - I ordered the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast, and my partner the gigante beans. The cooking was superb and the ingredients tasty - an increase on portion size would result in this being a 5*.

I love visiting B&G - it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon post a gym workout. It's also great for families, friends and couples. The food is scrumptious and so is the Oat Latte. However, there is one problem that has been preventing me from going regularly, and that is the bad smell that lingers in your hair and clothes when you leave. The Kitchen doesn't seem to have an extraction fan and therefore more often than not, the entire dining area is filled with smoke with a smell of cooked food and oil. I do also think they should mix up the menu ever so slightly.

I absolutely love visiting Brooks & Gao, as their food is delicious & the coffee/tea they serve is great. One of my favourite places for food in the Streatham area. Really recommend the gigante beans with baked egg & feta! They have one problem that needs looking at though - they don’t have any/adequate extraction in the kitchen. When you leave, your clothes & hair smell very bad. Sometimes, I’ll choose to go elsewhere for brunch, if I know that I have plans afterwards - as the smell is that bad! You need to invest in an extraction unit to deal with the cooking smells and smoke! If the extraction problem was sorted, every visit would be a 5*. For now, I will continue to visit Blackbird, Boyce de Roca & some of the other lovely food spots around Streatham.

Nice people and good coffee. Not many savory gluten free options. The decaf was alright but not the most flavorful beans I've had. The have oat milk but no coconut milk option.
