If you are visiting Stockport , come and try the best chippy around. Cooked to perfection , the premises are absolutely spot less and the staff are second to none.

Since its takeover we have found the standards have dropped & the menu reduced. Staff not as friendly

Had chips with steak & kidney pudding today but the chips were dry and not hot. This used be a good chippy but I'm afraid I wont be back. Poor standard

The Britannia Fish Bar is consistently good. It is very popular and they cook the food fresh for the customer. the fish is substantial bt you can order a small fish if required. Other dishes are also offered from pies to kebabs

Excellent, thinly battered fish & proper chips: one large portion is enough for two people usually. Fish is packed in a cardboard box which stops the batter steaming & sticking to the paper. Sometimes I stop off to just have the fish. The staff are pleasant & helpful. It would be fabulous to have a couple of varieties of fish but for that you need to keep walking to the Easy fish restaurant which is superb but it becomes more expensive & more formal in the evening.

this used to be a fantastic chippy, good quality fish and great chips. of recent times our last 2 samplings have been disappointing. the fish is not good quality and does not look fresh, batter is soggy, chips are soggy. Why the drop in standards?

Separate fryer for gluten free so more than purely traditional. Me, I just wanted comfort food after office drinks and a bus ride home! Small fish and chips for £4.20, served open, not really small - excellent. All cooked well and very tasty, couldn’t expect more.

A great local hippie, they do a range of food as well as traditional fish'n'chips. It's freshly cooked and served by cheerful friendly staff. We like the way they do two sizes of fish - the small portion of fish is big enough for us.

When nothing else will do, this fish shop is just the job. Fish is cooked to order and the are other foods on offer, just as well cooked. Friendly staff, short queues. What's not to like?

This is a great chip shop, my daughter in particular LOVES the kids meals that come in a box with a toy and treats.

This was an excellent fish & chip shop/ dinner kebab/ burger place. As you walked in you ordered the fish ( thin batter please) & it was cooked for you. Mother ran the business with her sons! The chaps were always smiling & welcoming & whatever was ordered was tasty. Now the fish is cooked from frozen & sitting in the heated eye view place. I support the local business but please cook the fresh fish on demand. I can wait! Good luck.

Not the best chippy in the world. Chips were warm but not hot, and very mushy. Didn't taste very good. Fish was very average and tasted a bit strange. I wont be rushing back.

Went in at 9 45 to be told they closed at 10pm. I asked for a few chips to be put in the fryer but it was already closed down. Lazy. Have no concept of customer service. Avoid. No idea what the food was is like because they were too busy to go home than serve customers.

Overall reasonably good food. Chips a bit on the greasy side but all freshly cooked. Fish was good and a cracking portion of mushy peas!!

This is a lovely family run chip shop and in recent years has become excellent in terms of the quality of the fish and chips. The fish are cooked to order so always fresh and the chips are consistently great too!

Proper quality fish and chips. Pity there's nowhere to eat there, so that you can get it piping hot.

Been going to this place for a while now.Overall quite good but there are some problems; chicken kebab recently changed looking and tasting not as good as it used to. Burgers are average. Fish is good and tasty.Chips are really good too and portion fairly generous. Chicken kebabs and burgers need to be improved though.

Fresh fish coated & deep fried in front of you & to order! I always ask for the thin batter which they call LIGHT batter.The fish is juicy inside & delicious. I pop in for the fish without the chips to have with salad at home unless my husband is ordering then I will have a few of his chips.Chips are tasty & the portions are large.Friendly staff!

have always found it to be busy so usually food is freshly cooked and the standard is consistent which is unusual nowadays for a chippy.

Given that there is a cracking chippy in Heaton Mersey, this place needs to step its game up. Nothing is ever ready and you have to wait while they cook more chips and fish. The quality of the food is good however... You have to make sure they don't wrap it though in one of those polystyrene takeaway containers as everything becomes soggy by the time you get home.Guys visit the chippy in Heaton Mersey and see how it should be done! I usually drive past you to buy from them... If you just fixed the above issues I wouldn't need to!

currently dieting so cannot visit as often as i would like! but will be once ive lost some weight! proud that this is round the corner from me

Huge portions of good quality, well cooked fish and chips. One portion of chips is more than enough for two of us and the fish are so big, they dont fit on the plate. One of the best places we have been to for Cod and chips.
