Food was lovely full of flavour would definitely have again

Cold late and dreadful. The only way to describe one of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time.

First time ordering. Ordered a chicken tandoori and actually got sent a lamb tandoori and it was very oily so couldn’t be eaten and the meat was very tough. onion bhaji were very oily to and the garlic Nan wasn’t really that garlicky . The chicken tikka masala wasn’t the best it was very bland and not creamy. over all i’ld give a 5/10

Went to try and get a table and was told all food had been sold out

My partner and I came here for dinner, I have been here with family before too and had takeaways from here too. The food everytime has been incredible and delicious, the staff are really helpful with choices to recommend if your not sure what to have. I highly recommend this resturant and will definitely be coming back.

Polite staff lovely poppadoms and dips..Cobra tap on bar but not available, menu outside prices incorrect. Award winning onion bhaji were soggy..the 2 main courses did not arrive at same time. Side dish was cold as was the first main dish these were taken away and reheated. Staff did not approach again to ask if ok Vindaloo arrived hot and spicy hot too but not tasty. For the price expected better

New to the area have been here twice, dont think we will be back the male toilets are a disgrace. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and came second time only to find the toilets were worse. I told the young waiter at the desk and he said its been a busy day but trust me the toilets haven't been cleaned it at least months as thick dust and grime. Its a real shame because the food is good but makes you wonder how clean is the kitchen????

Pick orde up and a dish missing. Pointless driving back. Fuming . Do your job and give people the food they pay for

Lovely well well-mannered Indian staff in the British way of ladies 1st. Food is exactly how the British like it. At times, a tad slow but no complaint there as they had gotten really busy for a Tuesday and they coped very well. We would certainly go again if in the area and that's praise indeed1

We had a very nice dinner here on Easter Sunday, during a visit to relatives who live in Walton. Very tasty food and plenty of it, with friendly and efficient service.

Second time eating here, this evenings meal was fantastic and such a good price.

Overall, not a great experience. Some of the wrong food was delivered, it was delivered early when I specifically stated a time and somehow was still cold when it was delivered. Will not be ordering from here again.

Visited with family and had a very enjoyable visit. Dill and his team are very efficient and we were well looked after (as per usual). There was a very slight delay on the mains, but we were in no rush , given it was the weekend and that meals are cooked to order we didn’t mind at all. Excellent Overall!

So dissatisfied with this order. Dhal was not thick enough. Chicken was tough.potatoes very dry undercooked and NO sauce. Puri were hard. Onion salad was so small I almost missed it. This was surprise for my sister as I’m visiting from London. You are supposed to be an award winning restaurant but I’m sorry I certainly waisted my money which as a pensioner I can’t afford to do. Very disappointing customer.

Previously I had left a 5* review but we visited yesterday and were rather disappointed. The service was ok but the food was dry, some of it burnt, and the lamb in particular was extremely chewy. It also seemed to be much more expensive than before. Not sure I’ll return.

Amazing food and great service will definitely visit again

This was the first time I have ordered from British India and I have to say it was the best curry I have ever had. All the meat was so tender and flavoursome. Will definately be ordering g feom here again.

We were not disappointed, the food is first class and lives up to the claim of best Indian in Essex. Service was good and we didn't feel rushed at all. We will be going back as we have found our new favourite Indian 👍

We went there on a a Monday 4 weeks ago and been every Monday since the food is so delicious and the staff are fantastic. I’m in no doubt this is the best Indian food I have.. well done 👏

Der Clou kommt mit der Rechnung , es wird 2x abgerechnet ,da ja 2 Personen gegessen haben. Echt jetzt -Frechheit . Ich kann absolut keine Empfehlung geben. Wir waren nicht die eizigen , die verduzt waren.

The food was good but extremely small portions for the price. The poppadoms were erring on the stale side and not a lot of meat in the dishes

when you’ve spent a large sum of money and paid extra charges for services and delivery you expect it to arrive on time or have your delivery slot changed to be more accurate

Had better from this restaurant. Today it was late, which I appreciate but then our poppadoms turned up as 1 smashed in a bag. Chutney missing (although they were pointless without poppadoms) and the Korma was so watery it make the rice soggy. Not a wonderful meal.

One of the worst restaurant experiences ever. First, the waiter somehow forgot that we ordered starters. We've waited for an hour and only after asking again they realized they forgot us. He also forgot to bring us napkins and when he did after finishing the starters, mine was dirty. I ordered a simple dish, it was a chicken omelette with fries and peas. I never thought peas could be screwed up. See also picture... I think they were left for years in a freezer and then heated up in the microwave. At least it's how they looked like. Just disgusting. The omelet was dry and also the fries were squishy like they were heated in an oven.

Food was ok but not great and pretty expensive, the lentil dish was very poor and watery

Delicious food, great quality. Very polite waiters. We had coconut rice, mushroom rice, garlic naan, peshwari naan, chicken passanda, balti chicken tikka, fruit chicken, prawn puree and a mango lassi. All absolutely divine. Personally, I'd prefer a more decorated location with dimmer lights and music. Also upgraded toilets. I imagine that a takeaway is ideal from them. Best Indian food I've had in a long time. 😋

My god the food here was absolutely stunning Really fresh clean taste, sauce was a beautiful consistency, Nann bread was puffy hot fresh Onion Bajais were crisp beautifully cooked Value for money and the food was superb Easy to see why they have won an award for the restaurant Perfect do not change anything is my advice Clean Great atmosphere Friendly staff And food was outstanding Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Had a couple take away meals from British India including one last night. They have been absolutely delicious. Generous portions and fresh ingredients. The service from the lady and gent as you enter is brilliant. Very warm and friendly and they are great to chat to while Mum and I waited. Another amazing Independent business making Frinton awesome. Thank you British India.

Upon arrival we were seated quickly but where not provided with any food menus, after 10 minutes we asked to see the menus only to be told we would have to wait until they take another tables order as they did not have enough menus. Food took around 90 minutes to arrive, whilst we understand the restaurant was full at no point did any member of staff explain there would be a lengthy delay, the real issue was after waiting for 90 minutes most of the dishes arrived cold…. If your kitchen can’t keep up with the orders and keep the food to your high standard which you somehow won an award for then you should restrict the numbers in the restaurant

Not impressed at all. I just spent close to £50 for a delivery dinner for 2. I can live with it being delivered 40 minutes later than advertised as it's a Saturday evening & they're busy. I can't live with the fact that it was 90% rice though. We give this restaurant a chance every 2 or 3 years, thinking that it's going to get better. More fool us. Never again. I could have & should have cooked it myself & saved £45.

Visited last night with my partner. We were both really impressed with the experience from start to finish. We were welcomed by a friendly faced gentleman who took us to our table, which was lovely and clean with some well presented origami napkins. We ordered drinks, starters, mains, sides, and dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly, meats were tender and of good quality. The taste and aroma of the foods were beautiful. The dessert was coconut ice cream topped with a cherry in half of a coconut shell, which was a nice touch. On our visit, the establishment was clean and tidy with friendly and welcoming staff who had great knowledge and recommended some wonderful dishes. All in all 5 star experience. We will be back soon for sure. Thank you to all at British India who made our evening nothing short of wonderful 😊 I must add that the prices are great, I was very surprised to see we spent under £50 considering we both had drinks, starters, main, sides and dessert.

Pretty good food. The grilled paneer and the onion bhajis were particularly tasty and the okra dish very flavourful. Decent value too with a discount on collection.

Worst Indian restaurant ever, my bin juice has more authentic flavour.

Vegetable curry had only a stock cube taste to it with no spice at all so was disappointing and would have loved to have seen a veggie masala or korma on the menu.The Bhajis were very tasty and authentic as were naans. The Chicken was a nice large portion but slightly dry. The Paneer could have coped with less sauce and more paneer for a main portion. All very nicely packed and labelled. Overall a Thumbs up.

Easy to order and collect, food was ready on time and was delicious

Really excellent food with lots of it. Captured the flavours of India so well. Service really good also. Good value for money. We are vegetarian and there was plenty of choice for both vegetarian and vegan diets. We will definitely come again and would highly recommend it to others.

Fancied an early curry with my wife, l looked up on google for a local restaurant that was opening soon or open and the British Raj came up, opening at 4-45 pm. we left it until 5 and walked into the " best indian restaurant in Essex" as the sign said. l asked if they were open when a womens voice from further down the restaurant greeted us with a very loud "NO" We was so surprised by her bluntness that we just walked out. Perhaps it should be called the "rudest indian in Essex". We will not chance going there again.

Stopped for dinner on the way home from family, absolutely lovely curry and rice with poppadoms and naan. Really delicious and lovely staff.

It was very average considering the apparent awards and plaudits. The meat was tough and the prawns were stringy...never had stringy prawns before, ate 1 and binned the rest.

The food in British India is always 5 stars. This is the best Indian food I ever had, ever. The service could be ever so slightly more attentive but still solid 4 🌟. I'd highly recommend this place either as a local takeaway or a restaurant.

4 of us went to this restaurant after hearing about awards won and great reviews. Well it was one of the worst Indian meals we have had .Not just one course, every course, from undercooked prawns to chicken with absolutely no taste. Even the peshwari naan which was under cooked when we asked for it to be changed the replacement was even less cooked . We paid for 50% of our bill . Which even that was to much. A dreadful experience

Minimum spend is just getting too expensive now. Whenever I'm ordering for just myself I'll have to order from Star of India who has no minimum spend.

I’ve ordered a number of times from British Indian but the last three orders have been worse than the last. The ‘chicken’ on my last two orders tasted of cheap chicken with pure fat taste. This time absolutely no flavour to my CURRY my poppadums had more flavour. I understand cost of living and increasing price or reducing the quantity but QUALITY shouldn’t be compromised. As a paying customer I expect a decent amount of quality to be upheld! If I could request a refund I would. Wasted the entire order it’s now in the bin!

minimum spend.i have been a customer for around a year.average spend on 30 orders about 20 to 22 pounds,if you are going to force me to spend 25 pounds minimum.i will use go another restaurant

I found plastic shards in my Bombay potatoes

Food was barely warm on delivery, korma and tikka massala sauces were watery and very little flavour. To top it off an item was missing from the order but wasn't able to get through to anyone about this.

The Chicken Tikka Dhansak and Peshwari Naan were both straight 10/10's.

Really tasty place, love going here, have been many times before and would happily return many more times. Highly recommended for curry lovers! Really nice atmosphere from the venue, we did happen to go when a very loud family was in there that was the only disappointment as they was chatting very loud about fight and drugs… not the typical family from frinton I would assume. But other then that the staff done a fantastic job getting our food out as we was a large group, all came at once and all correct so great work team!

One of the best! When ever I come to visit family from Birmingham I always make a stop here. Honestly have not found another Indian restaurant that even compares. Keep up the good work guys.
