Whilst visiting Clithoroe we asked at two shops for a recommendation for a sandwich and a drink. Both recommended Brioche and how right they were. A friendly welcome on arrival, a good selection of food and drinks. Highly recommend the Canadian beef sandwich and the Club sandwich both served with a very good coffee and a tea. The club sandwich was so large we left; with half in a box. Excellent food and service at a very reasonable price. Next time we visit Clithoroe we will return without hesitation.

Saw the good reviews so decided to try for lunch. We were ignored and not welcomed when we arrived. Stood waiting and being ignored for 5 minutes until a waitress told us that they are full downstairs and aren’t using the additional seating. They could have told us they were full instead of ignoring us and making us stand around waiting. They didn’t even say hi to us. Poor service and everyone looked miserable

Found this gem 3 weeks ago whilst on holiday in Lancashire. Nice table with a view from the window out onto the street. We liked it so much we returned there before we went onto our next stay in Yorkshire. The home baked cakes were divine, fresh, and served by a very pleasant and friendly young assistant, who went through all the choices of cake individually for me to make my selection. He also helped us with queries we had regarding the local area. The coffee was freshly made and delicious. Very good experiencde, and excellent value for money. We will certainly return when we visit Clitheroe in the future. Thankyou.

It's always good to find an independent cafe that I've never been to before so we popped in for cake and coffee on a winter morning whilst shopping. It took ages for someone to come to our table to take our order, even though there seemed to be plenty of people serving and it was nowhere near full. Eventually a sullen-faced girl came over and we ordered. We had flat whtes which were too bitter and not to our taste; my son's babyccino was huge and boiling hot. I had the Mars bar cake: it was clear that very little Mars had been used in the making of said cake. Husband had the custard tart which he enjoyed. There wasn't enough to draw us back in future.

I’ve been getting lunch from this cafe for over a year now pretty much once or twice every week, as I work locally. The staff at Brioche have been lovely there until a new lady who started a couple of months back, I ordered a take out and this particular lady packed up my order and left out the chocolate brownie by mistake. When I returned half an hour later she accused me of lying and told me to wait to the side, after serving another two customers she finally came back to me and in front half a dozen customers standing there said that she had included the brownie in the bag and that I was lying, then gave me another. When ever I get served by this lady (black hair) she is always very abrupt and rude. Because of this incident they have lost a long term customer as I will not be buying my lunch there anymore. P.s I haven’t taken this up with management there as there doesn’t seem to be any management present whenever I go in, unless the lady who served me is the person responsible there. Then there is going to be a lot of unhappy customers!

Arrived for breakfast yesterday and the cafe was perhaps half full. I ordered our food and drinks and shortly afterwards my wife’s breakfast arrived, by the time she had finished it, nothing else had appeared ! I spoke to the waitress who had served us who couldn’t offer an explanation. Someone who appeared to be in charge then stated that the coffee was on its way and did I still want it. He didn’t explain where my breakfast was and when I suggested that the basics of good customer service was everything you’d ordered arriving together. He responded that they were very busy !! That’s not good enough. Another customer was making the same complaint at the same time, and the cafe was far from full. A nice place, I’ve visited many times before, which will lose custom very quickly unless there’s a rapid re-think about dealing with customer complaints.

This is the third time I've had dry cake from here. I chose the lemon cake as it was whole so needed cutting, and threfore expected a fresh cake. Unfortunately it was dry and portion size was tiny for takeaway, it was put in an bag haphazardly & icing stuck to top so best bit was lost. A quick lunch in what looked like a busy cafe. My wife ordered an omelette which arrived and appeared overdone. Mushrooms were ok but the rest was like rubber. With hindsight we should have sent it back straightaway. When asked by the waitress we told her it was inedible, she duly apologised. On exit paying the bill the manager told me she was not going to charge me for my wife’s cup of tea. Didn’t quite understand the thought processes as it was the omelette that was the problem!

There was a nice atmosphere and the staff were very well turned out and pleasant. There is a decent selection of food and it's pretty good value. I ordered the chickpeas and lentil soup which was ok, not great, but edible if hungry enough. My husband ordered the cheese and spring onion panini, which was served with crisps and salad, the panini was cut in half and lain across each other, he struggled to pick the top piece up as the cheese was on the bottom holding them together making it messy to hold and eat, he tried to eat some of it, but realised very quickly that the cheese we could see on the outside of the sandwich was around the total of its existence. We cut the bread open, the half he had tried to eat was bereft of cheese, spring onions or butter, the other half looked like it had been frightened by a sprinkling as the cook, sorry probably 5 year old child played make believe (sandwiches). No spring onions in either piece. When I went to pay I was asked if everything was ok, as our table was facing the counter I indicated to it saying definitely not, that we stupidly expected the cheese to be in the panini, with the absent spring onions stated on the menu, I was then asked why I hadn't said anything I replied no-one had been to ask, and that I had expected something as simple as a cheese (and onion) panini to actually arrive with the ingredients inside of it. When taking payment, and I would actually score her a 5 at this point for customer service, she only took payment for the tea we had had, and did at least apologise profusely, when dissatisfied in the past, I have usually been met with some kind of grunt, and still charged for food which is usually neither consumed or consumable.

We chose this establishment to have a light lunch. We arrived at the peak time, and managed to grab 1 of the couple of remaining tables downstairs. There were 3 young female waitresses taking orders and delivering the food, who were dressed in "house" uniforms. They were attentive and helpful, but seemed to be a bit stressed out by the lunchtime rush.We ordered a chicken and bacon club sandwich, which took longer than expected to arrive. There was an apology for the delay, the sandwich itself had quite chunky bread, and did not include any egg, which was advertised as part of the package. It was tasty enough, served with a small cup of crisps and side salad. My partner found it a bit dry and too chunky, difficult to eat easily. It would have been nicer and a bit more substantial served with chips Lots of locals were queuing up for takeaways, and it seemed like they needed an extra person to permanently man the till, to keep the queues down. What we had was fine, and by the time we left it was much quieter, but we unfortunately just arrived at the peak period when the staff were rather stretched. There was additional dining and toilets upstairs. The place was clean and tidy, bu tthey were a bit slow clearing the tablesAn extra member of staff would have improved things, and there could have been better organisation of who did what, Several times the till was unattended, and customers had to wait a while for someone to turn up to deal with them. It satisfied our hunger, but was a fairly average experience, somewhat marred by the slow service

Waiting on staff seemed very busy but the only thing that we noticed was a man who I assume was a manager standing just watching staff work so hard clearing and serving and he didn't lift a finger to help, just slurped on soup over the counter! Left a bit of a disappointing feel as having worked in cafes myself, a manager who helps out is worth his/her weight in gold. Not sure if I would visit again to be honest. I use to love getting my lunch from brioche everytime I was in clitheroe, the sandwiches and paninis are delicious however I have stopped recently due to the lack of organisation and the time it takes to be served and actually revive my sandwich. When buying lunch I always have to be as quick as possible and at brioche it always takes way too long considering how many staff are always on at one time and they are hardly rushed of their feet due to the size of it. I work in a much bigger restaurant and sometimes we have less people on than they do and we are so much more efficient.

Not too expensive and the staff very helpful and friendly. If you are wondering where to have lunch in Clitheroe today then look no further. 5*!

Service lets this place down a little and the soups were disappointing . However the cakes and other items were good . We prefer the coffee down the road at Exchange though!

Small, clean ,smart cafe. Service quick and very friendly. We had mocha to drink. Was actually slightly on the cool side but immediately heated up on our request.Food piping hot and very generous helpings. I had cheese jacket potato... Far too much cheese for me but potato was delicious. Hubby had mushroom omlette. Both great.

Lovely cafe where you can sit on an armchair ,settee or a bar. Clearly very popular and with the usual format of various drinks and light lunch options. Well served and despite the busy lunchtime no problems with service at all. Food sandwiches and salads fine and enjoyable. Another Clitheroe location where I didnt feel the need to move on after my food and drink. Most welcome.

Always happy faces with great service and a variety of seats, not your standard cafe. A wide choice of cakes and snacks.

Had a late lunch with my husband. He had a sandwich and I had the soup. The bread was lovely but the tomatoe soup could of done with a little more seasoning.

We have been to this cafe a few times recently and always had great service and lovely food. Home cooked food, good value. It's now on our regular places to visit in town.

My husband and I had scrambled eggs on a bagel. The eggs and the bagel were very dry. The interior is also quite cramped, not very relaxing when you have people pushing past your table.

Called into Brioche 8 for a Saturday breakfast treat with my partner, although it was already busy we managed to grab a table. The two ladies who were working were rushed off their feet, and didn't take our order for at least ten minutes which is understandable but the waitress seemed a little off-handed with us. The food and drinks arrived promptly, however I asked for brown sauce and my partner asked for extra toast- both were forgotten about. The brown sauce issue was quickly rectified (once I'd managed to get hold of the waitress, who was extremely apologetic) and we didn't need the extra toast after all. The full breakfasts were lovely, you could tell high quality produce had been used. Prices were reasonable and the range of cakes looked good too. I would definitely go again but I think it would really help if they had an extra member of staff so small details could be worked on, especially when they're running a takeaway sandwich service too.

A pleasant surprise to find a place where the atmosphere is lovely, the staff pleasant and the food excellent. It is a welcome addition to Clitheroe, somewhere you can enjoy a coffee or a snack or just take away. I had the beef and onion sandwich, which was excellent, my wife had a salad which she enjoyed and then scones for afters. Good value which the other cafes in Clitheroe should take note.

Long wait for two salads my mum sent her Greek salad back after two mouthfuls because it had a overwhelming lemon flavour my mum never sends food back or is picky so I knew it wasn't right. They offered another salad to her but we were in a rush so I just had mine which was not very good. On paying my mum asked for the Greek salad to be taken of the bill only for the lady to ask if she had eaten any of it like she would charge us! She was then was then moody with us and this just made the whole experience a lot worse. I will not be returning here again.

Sorry but the salad boxes to take away have become very mean. Portion size seems to depend on who is serving you!.

Well worth a visit for lunch, or even just a tea/coffee and cake! Nicely placed in the centre, on Wellgate, helpful staff and nice atmosphere.

Since being on maternity leave this year I've been a regular customer at Brioche with my baby son and often friends or my husband. The food is lovely and fresh and the cakes are delicious. My recent experiences have not been so good unfortunately though. After meeting other Mums there a couple of times, we've been made to feel not-so-welcome with our prams (despite taking up as little room as possible) and asking to use the highchair. On the last occasion it appeared that one member of staff was actively avoiding serving us! Despite the cakes being so good, we have decided to take our custom elsewhere for a while as it seems we're not wanted.(Note for other parents, there is nowhere to change babies other than the toilet floor)

Went for lunch today never been before and was pleasantly surprised. I had the tomato, mozzarella and pesto pannini which came with salad and coleslaw, the portion was generous and was tasty. Service was quick and pleasant. Wished I'd had room for the cakes because they looked lovely.

Called in 1030 on a Monday for Brunch. Had a bagel with scrambled egg& bacon and a cappuccino. The decor is nice, new and newspapers to look at. The food was ok just not exceptional and likewise coffee was just ok. With other places providing better quality I wouldn't revisit- but it's my first and only visit so might reconsider.

My wife and I came across this quaint tea shop quite by chance, as it is on the outskirts of the village and laid back from the road behind a small cobbled forecourt. On entering we found it contained eight tables and quite busy for a Saturday afternoon. We ordered coffees and sandwiches which were made to order and absolutely delicious.I shall definitely return and tell my friends about it.Im not certain of the opening hours,so will need to check before I return.I thoroughly recommend it.

Spent an evening here with some friends, staying elsewhere. First up, it's uphill, and I mean uphill, to get here but the views and the service were easily worth it. Kaitlyn (really hope I remembered this right) properly looked after us. Thank you.

Great food, great service, reasonably priced. Would recommend. I ordered the ox cheek pie and husband ordered the fish and chips which were both lovely, being really picky the mash were a bit on the dry side, but I would still recommend.

This was not our first visit to the Calf’s Head but it has to be the best meal we have ever had. It was a large family gathering and despite the size of the party the service was friendly and efficient. Looking forward to a return visit, hopefully not in the too distant future.

I tried to order a full English breakfast without a few items and they wouldn’t swap me anything and tried charging me a extra 1.50 so I thought man 10er for my breakfast that’s a bit steep . So just got bacon and sausage baton and I got one bacon one sausage for 5.50 and to top it off it was cold and chippy sausage. Joke off a place will not be going again . And there is dogs running around in the kitchen
