Brilliant Fish and Chips in Great Yarmouth

Really is brilliant fish and chips. Our first day staying at Great Yarmouth area and we needed food! This was good prices, hot fresh food and everyone ate the lot. Definitely visit again thank you.

Recommended this place by a local as we were visiting from London. I have never tasted fish and chips as nice as this in my life! I will be back. It was perfect, they had scraps! It was all fresh, 0 complaints! I could eat it every week.

Wow enough to feed an army, we ordered 1 large chips(enough for at least 3 people, husband had large plaice, I had fish bites, easily enough for 2, lovely tasting batter, and fish was great, highly recommend this establishment, caister on sea.

We were on holiday nearby last week. Decided we wanted proper fish and chips and that's what we got. Lovely fresh fish and the chips were great too.

After looking on google, this place had the best review and was open on a Wednesday lunchtime (most others were not). There was a medium queue just forming when we got there but others queued after us. Luckily we only waited 5 minutes. Large cod, large chips and can of coke was 12.50 and was worth every penny. Fish was crispy and huge and the chips tasted lovely, none of it was greasy and didn’t have that taste you might get if oil is over cooked. We drove to a car park 2 mins away by the beach and they were piping hot. Car park attendant even let us off paying as we were only there to eat our grub. Would highly recommend. We drove past another chippy 50 yards up the rd and although open, it was empty. Brilliant !

Top fish shop. Good food at reasonable prices.

After a horrible meal from a Hemsby eatery, we decided to go up the road to Caister and had fish and chips from Brilliant Fish and Chips. It did not disappoint. Fish was perfectly cooked, chips were tasty and hot and the whole meal was fresh and utterly delicious. Even my fussy son has asked if we can return before we go home. Absolutely what you’d expect from a coastal town chippy. 10/10!

Was on holiday in caister on sea for 4days 2weeks ago went in here twice and the fish and chips was blinding 2nd time went in got 2 quarter Pounders with chips were luvly and the staff who served me was so friendly and polite made to feel very welcome brilliant prices and the best fish and chip shop around ta very much see u when back in caister on sea on holiday 👍🏼

We were out and about looking for nice fish and chips for tea in Caister on sea . Our usual choice of chippy was closed so it was down to two that we could see open. One with no queue no people and the other rammed with a queue out the door. No brainer let’s try Brilliant Fish & Chips! They were very tasty and very fresh given the amount of people waiting. My only complaint was my medium cod could only be described as small! Xx

Highly recommend this fish and chip shop. The food was excellent. It was extremely busy and popular, so I would recommend to perhaps ring and order first incase you may be waiting up to 30mins.

The name of this “Chippy” is more than apt, the food is definitely “Brilliant” for sure. Absolutely amazing Cod and Chips. The staff were happy, friendly and good at what they do, from the lady taking the orders to the guys cooking and the lady preparing your food to go. And the scampi was the best I have ever had in my whole life “Just Wow 😯” Don’t bother searching if you’re on your “Hols” for a good chippy in the Caister area just go here you won’t regret it !!! Great tasting and reasonably priced A1+

I recently visited about 2 weeks ago, I chose to obviously have traditional fish and chips with mush peas as we was at the sea side, I can honestly say it was one of the nicest meals I’ve had from a chippy in a long time, I didn’t actually go in my self on my first visit, it was my husband, however I did go back myself the second night we was away and I only went in to order chips and gravy, i walked in and everyone was lovely all staff greeted me and said hello, great presentation of this lovely little chippy, nice and clean and tidy, upon receiving my chips and gravy the lovely man behind the counter put me a sausage in my order, honestly the food was piping hot both times, and I’d definitely recommend and return here

Ask for a saveloy and chips when I got back to my caravan I noticed they gave me a sausage in batter and chips not a savoy as requested

Well best £5.30 I spent in a long while. Large battered sausage and chips. Freshly cooked no grease afterwards. Vinegar wasn’t watered down full of flavour too. I know it’s a little thing but good vinegar on chips makes a chippy stand out. Portion size was spot on.

Tried these last weekend when was down for few nights… Ordered scampi chips beans and jumbo battered sausage And it really didn’t disappoint, clearly busy as cars parked everywhere and lot of people reccomend this place so glad I tried it…. Fresh, chips cooked to perfection and lots of flavour

Stopped for lunch beautiful fish and chips, served with a smile, excellent and quick service reasonable priced.

Normally when we use this chip shop we always say it lives up to its name but this time we were somewhat disappointed. We had a large cod, beef and onion pie, large chips and a bag of scraps. The pie and scraps were delicious but unfortunately although the fish was nice but the batter was chewie like cardboard and the chips tasted like they were leftovers. Hopefully it was a 1 off and won't stop us using it.

It's an extremely popular fish and chips shop but I don't think they can handle the amount of orders. I waited over an hour in the shop for them to complete my order. Not sure how great the communication is between staff taking orders, and those staff cooking it.

Very disappointed in the service I asked the women 3 times if she had put salt on my fish !! She said she did I replied and asked her very nicely that I only see her put salt on one of the fish then she spoke to me in her foreign language telling me she did . I was eaten out next to the beach and I think fish and chips does not taste nice with no SALT .

Always excellent. Freshly made to order. There is no shortage of staff, so even though the fish is freshly prepared, there is not a long wait.

Whilst this fish and chips shop has got fantastic reviews, tonight's service was really poor. Queues were out the door (good sign!) but having placed my order at 6.05pm I eventually was served my food at 6.50pm!! I heard the 'boss' say to the server on the till 'you haven't called out every order' which she claimed she had. People were served after me and received their orders before. I think poor communication just compounded the delays. Advice: food is delious but I strongly recommend ordering over the phone and then collecting. I think this will help enormously.

Ordered a Large Haddock and chips. Shop was busy so was expecting Great fish and Chips. Haddock was just OK but for £2.80 expected more than 20 chips? Chips were luke warm and not fully cooked. 1st time trying. Don't think we'll be rushing back. Thank fully only a small order so damage limitations. Shame as looking for a good local chippy for regular use.

They were just getting ready to close as we arrived but stayed open to cook us our meal. Which, as the name suggests, was indeed brilliant and even threw in an extra bag of chips .

Very very good chip shop, foods lovely, generous portions and the scraps are a nice added extra, I don't get them back in London (hint, hint, London chippys take note).

A great chippy, I tried rock (bull huss) for the first time and definitely going to have to get it again, everyone loved there meals, very tasty cooked fresh everyone was very chatty and helpful, they even had pictures of the fish that you were going to eat!

The staff or owners are nice. Unfortunately the fish and chips was not. Probably the worst fish and chips I have had in the UK. The smell from the oil was not okay, don't know why. Kids portions was good, but adult not so much. I did regret buying from here.

Visited Brilliant Fish and Chips 4 years ago and was surprised at the quality so much so we ordered again 2 more times while on holiday. On holiday at Caister again and was looking forward to visiting Brilliant Fish and Chips again but I don’t know if it has changed hands or we caught it on a bad day but our large fish was anything but large and the chips seemed like they had been kept warm too long as dry as anything, certainly not like they used to be.

Very tasty fish for a good price. The fries were also delicious.

Four of us had large cod and chips on Friday 6th Oct '23. Service was great. The fish was cooked to order so was fresh and tasty and not greasy. Portions were on the large side and they threw in some fish scraps. Really enjoyed it! The staff was decent, think the guy there was called Wahin or Wayne. Would definately go back when I'm next in Great Yarmouth. Thanks.

Popped in about 8-8'30 as it on the main drag it seemed busy, as it's a small shop so, I ordered and it took a fair time to be cooked, I paid as it was wrapped getting to our work rental, we were disappointed with the small rations fish just cooked as the not fully dried batter slid off, & the chips semi soggy, it may have been rushed? (we are staying just around the corner) portion size left us a bit hungry! So not so brilliant for me! Our time in the area has been extended, so a good chip shop is always welcomed but not here!

Unfortunately we couldn't eat any of the fish. The fish was bland and greasy and had a funny taste. The workers were blunt and rude when we was asking questions. Wouldn't go again. I personally think they should state if they are going to leave the skin on the fish too. Chips were also cold, and we were only round the corner. Mushy peas was nice though and so was the chicken nuggets. This might of been a off day for them but unfortunately it wasn't a good first experience for us.

I have been reading some of the reviews and I'm disappointed to read what some people have put. Yes sometimes things go wrong but not very often especially how busy they are. As I live in Caister I can say its the best one around. Its BRILLIANT. Give it a go you will not be disappointed. Keep up the good work guys.

Best fish n chips we've had in a while. Cod, chips, Mexican burger, battered sausage and savaloy all good. Parking can be tricky

Been to this chip shop over the years. Different people now running the business. Order some chips that took nearly 15 minutes, even though there were chips ready to be served. Extremely slow service and not for the first time. Staff don't appear to be able to coordinate and work as a team. But can not fault the food.

Cod was nice , but medium chips was very small could of been bigger, very disappointed so won't be going back

This chippy was recommended to us by the driver of the land train. We were staying at Seashore so was only a short drive to collect lunch. Parking outside shop. Lunch for 4 adults and 2 kids freshly cooked and large portions. Great value for money, will return.

My Mum and myself travel an hour and 40 mins for these fish and chips and they are so worth it. The fish is thick and juicy, the batter is crisp and so tasty and the chips are chunky and not greasy. They do take time to prepare but that is only because they are made to order. Perfection!

Had a really nice large haddock , chips and mushy peas. The chips was so tasty , im sure they were cooked in beef fat 😋. As for the haddock, yummy is all I can .

Recommended by a friend who lives locally and now I use every year when I return, as my 10yr old says - the best fish and chips he has ever had.

I ordered a large Fish and Chips over the phone and went to collect. Fish was lovely although when I went to open the wrapped food, I was appalled at the amount of chips for £15!!. When I called I apparently ordered a medium, but £15 for the amount of chips was disgraceful.
