I visited this restaurant with my wife and 2 friends late on a wet Friday afternoon. It was chosen by chance as we strolled to London Bridge station. The food and service were simply excellent. We were all delighted with our meals. I had the Scottish mussels as a starter. They were in a delicious cream sauce. This was followed by the smoked brisket burger. After some consideration I can truly say that this is the best burger that I’ve tasted in my life! I also had a little of my wife’s hake which was superb. Service was very friendly and efficient. I hope to dine here again when I’m next in London.

Good food, service and atmosphere. My son said it was the best burger he has ever had. Chicken Caesar salad excellent too.

The Brigade is a wonderful place to host a corporate event! Daisy and Kate especially are so responsive, helpful, detailed, and patient. Would highly recommend!

I organised a conference for 40 delegates and chose the Brigade as they have meeting rooms on the floor above the restaurant Each delegate loved the lunch in the restaurant. The whole day was perfect, the meeting room and then the food, service and atmosphere. I would seriously recommend this venue

Staff are class, very welcoming. Amber makes the best Old Fashioned in London, bar none. Food is great, not too pricy for London.

Post-lockdown 2021 we used the May lunchtime discount to return here. The food was as good as we remember and so was the service. Without the discount it's not cheap but it is a very good project which they've managed to keep going despite the pandemic. We definitely think it's worth supporting!

I had dinner at the Brigade yesterday evening after a visit to the Bridge Theatre. I was dining alone and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. The waitress was kind and attentive, bringing me a delicious (highly recommended ) pork croquette to try as I’d said a starter would be too much - as I’d normally just pinch a bit of my husband’s. The main of brisket in a bun was full of flavour and fell apart as it was so tender. Fresh, tasty home made slaw, excellent chips (again were helpful when I asked for a half portion ) and a flavourful crispy carrot and charred smokey tasting hispi cabbage side. One of the guys who’d been through their training programme came to talk to me about it - brilliant work they are doing there - and he let me talk his ears off. The waitress came and replaced my untouched affogato desert, unasked, as I’d let it completely melt while I chuntered on - another kind touch. The manager came over to say hi, too, but was more adept at escaping my yakking. Excellent food at a very reasonable price, with a final touch of £10 off the bill as an extended “eat out to help out offer”. Can’t recommend highly enough.

We had an early dinner taking the benefit of the discount offer during September. The food was delicious, the portions generous, the service friendly and the atmosphere comfortable. We will definitely go back and it's great to know we are supporting such a worthwhile enterprise.

I've been a few times to this place. The food is a bit hit and miss, and the staff are a bit slow. But that's all fine when put in the context of why the restaurant exists. There is a lovely ambient in the evening and it's clear that loads of people pop in after work for a drink or two!

Nous avons passé un excellent moment, tout le personnel du restaurant est à l'écoute et attentionné. Nous avons appris qu'il s'agit d'un restaurant école qui existe pour former les gens en situation précaire afin de les sortir de leurs mauvaises conditions de vie et leur offrir une perspective d'un avenir meilleur, ce n'est donc pas un simple très bon restaurant. En bref, je le recommande vivement pour ses nombreux points forts ! Et mention spéciale à Hervé, notre serveur, service excellent, personne très gentille et passionnée avec laquelle nous avons beaucoup aimé discuter.

For a restaurant with this price point and perceived quality, I was appalled by how poorly my lamb cutlets were prepared. I’m not demanding Frenched-lamb cutlets (although it’d be nice), but I do expect the cutlets not to be overly fat, and with fats not rendered. I was served two cutlets where there were more fat than meat. The unrendered fat was terrible to eat, with little meat left if fats were removed.Other dishes were okay at best. Positive is that there’s Good selection of quality wine. Ambience was good for business meeting

Nice place if a little on the pricey side. I met with two colleagues for a work meeting. We sat in the bar area and had a few bar snacks. Food was tasty, atmosphere was good and staff made people feel welcome.

We stopped in and were pleasantly surprised. They have an amazing story here. They employ and train homeless people. The food was great! We started with a few appetizers and then we shared the roasted chicken and it came with the best roasted vegetable dish ever! Dessert was delicious. The bartender made me an amazing old fashioned, I would go back just for that if I could.Support them if you are looking for a good meal and nice atmosphere

Whilst the ethics behind this restaurant is amazing, the food on our visit was distinctly lacking, which is a real shame. To start we ordered some sharing dishes, and had the sourdough bread and butter. Whilst it was OK to the taste it wasn't anything special, the restaurant could see we were a party of four, but served three pieces. Some common sense needed as we would have bought two had we known. As the main course I have the Cornish rump steak, ordered medium with chips. Firstly, the steak, whilst very nice, was undercooked to the point it was more rare. Not a problem for me, as I enjoyed it anyway. However, the chips were more like very large potato wedges and not "chips". Secondly, you get nothing else. It is simply steak and wedges with a small smattering of rocket and somewhere in there apparently was horseradish, but it literally was a sprinkle. For dessert, I opted for the apple & cinnamon crumble with milk ice cream, whilst the plate was hot and the food dessert not bad, it was actually cold in the middle. It wasn't until I got quite far in you would discover this so again, a pretty underwhelming dish. Friends had the coal grilled aubergine, harissa & labneh and another in our party had the smoked chicken, and both were reported again as OK, but nothing special.On the whole, the whole dining experience was pretty underwhelming and sadly I would not recommend as a positive dining experience.

The reason why we went was because of the amazing cause it stands for. Helping people to get that second chance in life. Amazing. The food was tasty but not quiet for what you pay. It might be an off day so I’ll see you soon. Thanks

The Brigade staff were friendly and welcoming, as well as very accommodating. We ordered the wood fired vegetable sharing platter - which was well worth the money! They suggested we swap the side dish (as it was seasonal veg) so we got to pick something else to try. The food was lovely, a generous portion - split between we were very full afterwards! Only gripe with value for money was the cost of a sauce on the side, which seemed expensive for the very small ramekins worth provided.Would return and will be recommending to others that they come and support this charity and the good work they do!

Was invited her as part of a large group. Large group dining can be hit and miss with cold food and slow service. Not here. The service was prompt and efficient, the food was well prepared and tasty.

Great food, great were were numerous with a lot of small children, no problem for them. Service not perfect, but it is the point of the location.

Brigade is an above average place to eat. It serves the community well - helps and train the young, and vulnerable into work. They are open from breakfast thru to dinner. I mostly meet friends for drinks at brigade. And drinks are not cheap (there are other pubs on Tooley Street which are cheaper). On my last visit I wasn't particularly pleased with being overcharged. I ordered and paid for drinks and food at the bar for myself and a couple mates. Later my friend went to the bar and ordered the same drinks, but less food. When she returned she asked why her bill was more when she ordered less. It turned out that service charge was added to the bill. Naturally, we had to query why queing for 10mins warranted a service charge. The bartender seemed undisturbed by this. We then requested to see the manager. When asked about the discrepancy between the two bills, the response was "the till sometimes add service charge". Well, I did not think that this was an acceptable reason to tell the customer. If you know the till adds service when it should not, you see it that it is corrected, not fall foul with the next customer. We duly requested the service charge be removed. Not impressed. What I would say is, if you go the bar and order drinks, don't just pay (i.e. contactless), be sure to check your bill. Better still, get a receipt, like I did!

Had no idea where to eat when visiting London for Bridge Theatre....... and happened to come across Brigade on Tooley Street........ from outside no visible menu, always makes me nervous re availability prices (especially in tourist areas),,,,, but went in and asked.

Éramos una fiesta de 4 que fuimos a cenar el viernes por la noche. La comida estaba bien, y debido a que el servicio era muy lento no estaba caliente cuando llegó. Nuestra camarera desapareció a mitad del servicio y tardó una época en llamar la atención de cualquiera para pedir más bebidas y pagar nuestra factura. La presencia de cualquier camarero en el piso era muy escasa. Es una pena, ya que esto nos ha retrasado el regreso de nuevo.

Estoy seguro de que todos saben que generalmente los lugares en el centro de Londres son una estafa. para estos almuerzos navideños. Aqui no. Fantástica comida, excelente servicio. . . vale cada centavo. Sin duda es el mejor de la zona. . y ayuda con los aprendices de personas sin hogar, etc.

Service warm and friendly, the food was wonderful. I had the venison, with a salad both were delicious; the sourdough bread was also a not to miss. A real value for money and you are helping the apprentices and trainees for the future.

Whatever the philosophy behind this modern restaurant and bar the main thing is that it’s good.

We were well looked after at the brigade, first for a family meal for 12 and afterwards when joined by another 10 friends for drinks.

The Brigade is a social purpose venture offering hospitality job training to people who may not otherwise get a foothold on the employment ladder. Food is really good and service likewise.

A lovely warm welcome that made me feel instantly comfortable, which is a must for a solo diner. The staff were all really friendly and attentive to just the right level. With two choices for the fish of the day the menu caused a lot of difficultly on decision making in a good way. I just couldn't make up my mind as it all looked so good. The food lived up to my expectations and I was really happy to have an English white wine as an option with my fish.

I had to meet two officials from government in Japan. I chose the Brigade as I feel most comfortable there and know the food I'd good. The staff looked after us and it was a successful meeting.

Acompañé la chuleta de cerdo con batata asada que era una buena combinación, al igual que las verduras de temporada de leña. Terminado con la bagatela de verano que estaba limpia y refrescante. Todo estaba regado con una buena botella de rojo español. Si bien no es barato, la comida ofrece una excelente relación calidad-precio.

I live nearby so come often. In winter they do a good roast but their summer menu is excellent too. Great for Saturday brunch. The staff are really great!

Went to Brigade for a late brunch on a Saturday and enjoyed a lovely meal. The steak and eggs was one of the tastiest, tenderest steaks I have ever had. Both people I was with also enjoyed their choices. Followed by delicious desserts including a lovely seasonal trifle. Service was really good (thank you Amanda). Highly recommended and excellent value.

Live very close by and walk past every day on my commute without ever having visited. Due to a friend staying in London we decided to book a table here and were not disappointed. The food was absolutely sensational, with every mouthful offering a different burst of flavour. I started with the bone marrow which was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth followed by the lamb chops which had been cooked beyond compare - slightly pink in the middle and exquisitely seasoned. Unfortunately we did not have time for desert but looking at other tables I do not think we would have been disappointed had we tried one. I would highly recommend The Brigade as a premier restaurant near London Bridge, and well worth the slight price premium compared to its nearby competitors. I will certainly be returning.

Met friends and family here for dinner. Lovely food with interesting and varied menu. Excellent friendly and efficient service. Great atmosphere. Stayed all evening and thoroughly recommend.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon after reading the menu outside. The waffle and buttermilk chicken caught my eye. It was beautifully dressed with a Burford brown fried egg, sriracha and maple and pickled chilli sauce. The combination of sweet and heat was well balanced and delicious.

Muy mal servicio. Tenía el domingo asado, la carne era muy cruda. Solo logré terminar 1/3 de la carne, pero el personal ni siquiera se molestó en preguntar si hay algún problema con la comida. No nos han avisado que la carne sería tan rara. Si nos hubieran dicho cuándo haríamos los pedidos, habríamos pedido el pollo.

My husband and I stopped in for a beer one afternoon after seeing the sights. The bartender was friendly, the beer was cold and there was a variety of tall tables to stand at as well as soft banquet style seating. We liked it so much we went back a few days later!

Our experience in this restaurant was very nice. Food it’s very good and the staff they all are amazing.

There were 70 to 80 of us for lunch; the staff were outstanding; helpful, professional, serving with a smile. This restaurant is a not-for-profit business. They take people who are at risk of homelessness and train them for a career in the catering industry. AND the food is great.

Lors de notre week-end de pâques à Londres, en famille, nous avons fait un arrête à la Brigade. Un petit verre en terrasse, au soleil, que demandé de mieux. Mon compagnon étant pompiers volontaires en Belgique, il était normal pour lui de s'y arrêté. Nous avons discuté avec le serveur, un Français expatrié ;-) Une très gentille personne, passionné par son boulot, et ce bâtiment pour le plus grand plaisir de mon homme. Un lieu magnifique, décoré avec beaucoup de goût, et une belle carte, même si nous n'avons pas mangé sur place. A notre prochain week-end à Londres :-) On reviendra! Sous le soleil :-p

Came in midday, quite empty. Stood at the front desk, waiting patiently for the host while he chatted with a colleague. Eventually he spoke to us and asked us where we'd like to sit. Sat us down. Never returned. My partner walked to the desk as no waiter had approached and ordered coffees for us. Coffees came and still no waiter approached to ask us if there was anything else we'd like etc. Might have had something else but since no one came to ask I just went to the bar to pay.

We were looking for a restaurant close to our hotel on London Bridge and when we saw it we thought it was looking very nice. Welcome was nice and we immediately got the high chair for the baby.

It was very noisy and crowded though as you had to walk / push through the bar to get into the seated area. Service was a bit slow but the food was tasty and it is a good way to get some homeless people of the streets and trained and in work. There is a lovely area that you can ask for and it is just like eating in someones front room, you can close the door if you wish.Just a few minutes to get to London Bridge station so in an excellent location.

First time visit to The Brigade this evening, four of us for a colleagues leaving do. We opted for a main and a desert, and a bottle of wine. For mains we had, lamb, beef and chicken, followed by sticky toffee pudding, chocolate cremioux and the bavarois. All was delicious and accompanied by great service. The decor and ambience of the restaurant is lovely, on a Tuesday evening, busy enough to be buzzy but still hold a decent conversation. What made me score it 5 stars? My two friends who had the sticky toffee found it rather too salty and we fed this back, they took our feedback on board and shared with the chef and his team. What knocked our socks off is that without asking, they were knocked of the bill. It’s that level of service that will ensure I visit again. The Brigade is not cheap but for lovely warm service, good food and a comfortable setting a stones throw from London Bridge - we’ll be back.

Quite apart from the fact the restaurant provides apprenticeships to folk who have been down on their luck. The food and service here warrant five stars.

My boyfriend and I went to the Brigade after the theatre last week and were incredibly impressed by this restaurant. The wood fire oven gives off a wonderful smoky smell and the food is first class. I had sweet potatoes baked in ash with spicy chicken breast, which were delicious. My boyfriend had hake, which was the catch of the day. But what is really impressenve about Brigade is that it trains and employs homeless people.I was served by two waitresses who had finished their training programme and were now employed by the restaurant. It's a great way to give people a second chance and to get them off the street. I'm thrilled to see a socially responsible enterprise that is working.

Visited for my birthday lunch as had not been in years. I was slightly apprehensive about the Menu as I loved their old menu and it looked very different. I didn't need to worry, the food was delicious!! I ordered Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich and my partner ordered the Beef Dip Sandwich. Both were divine, as were the chips we shared. For dessert we had a Sticky Toffee Pudding between us which is one of the best I've had in a long time. I couldn't fault the food, the atmosphere, the decor or the food/drinks service, the only niggle would be that it took a while for the bill to come. Will definitely be back, I love the look of the Sunday Lunch and Supper Clubs!

Opened kitchen, where you can see the chef preparing your steak. Simple, but very attractive menu based on fresh ingredients grilled with XO oven. The chef is a great showman and trully profesional. Aged beef steak finished with sticky toffee pudding is a must to try. However the service staff needs an improvement.

I wanted to like this place more, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. We came as a group of 10 people, and had a room in the back for privacy. The ambience was great, and service was friendly. Unfortunately service wasn't optimal - multiple dishes were brought out that weren't ordered by our group, therefore leaving some people without the meals they ordered. That resulted in some people having to wait for their dishes. This happened throughout the meal - appetizers, main course, and even coffee.

Youll have to fight your way through the suits and bags etc to get to the restaurant if you’re going midweek.

Been to the restaurant twice now, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Breakfast was definitely better than the dinner.

Svært god mat, stedet var rent og hyggelig betjening. Vi fikk ristet brød med salt smør til forret, røkt kylling til hovedrett og varm karamell kake med karamellsaus og is til dessert. Alt var nydelig tilberedt.

We have just returned from a pleasant evening at Brigade. We had been recommended this modern eatery and decided to give it a go.

I live nearby, and reckon this is the best place in the area for breakfast or brunch - really top quality food. (Or joint best with Cafe Piazza, when it's warm enough to sit outside.)

Whilst the appeal of The Brigade is its charming interior and charitable ethos, one of the small criticisms i had of my experience there was... well, the food.

Service good (except when we eventually needed to pay the bill). Food different, well-cooked and not too overpriced. Wine perhaps a little pricier than expected, especially for a "house" wine. Would return.

Delicious food with a good vegan choice. Service was great, just the right level of attentive. Good coffee and nice dessert, though not huge portions (probably for the best). Beautiful surroundings add very impressed with the ethos; highly recommended.

We came across this restaurant by chance and are glad we did. Reasonably priced for the quality & portion size. Nice selection of dishes which were well presented and tasted yummy. If in the area again would definitely come here again. A bonus is that the restaurant helps homeless people get a leg up in life by giving them apprenticeships in catering.

We visited for our anniversary meal and the service was superb. We were greeted at the door and taken to our table straight away where they offered to hang up our coats. I ordered the lamb chops and my partner ordered the chicken and both were delicious and came to our table quickly. Our waiter (didn’t get his name, but he was a tall man with tattoos) was very helpful, polite and always made sure our drinks were full and table ready for our food. Wish we’d been able to have a dessert but we were both so full! Will definitely be coming again next time we’re in a London and will recommend to friends and family! :)

It was the first time I've been to The Brigade since the refurbishment. I was very impressed with the new lay out, the speed at which the staff behind the bar took and delivered orders and the food we had was great, clean, plentyful, and delicious. Jon who I believe is general manager was very hospitible, I'll definietly be visiting again and the work they do there & the whole ethos is a very worthwhile project.

We had a fantastic brunch here today. Staff were lovely and everyone left well fed despite our large party having a whole host of different intolerances. I’m sure it must have been a challenge for the staff but they were so helpful and accommodating.

As my headline suggests have in meal out in December you should never really expect too much I guess.

We stayed in London just for the night to go to the ceremony of the keys, and we found this beauty that was only a street away from the apartment, I had the poached eggs on avocado and sour dough with sirracha sauce a dish I usually make at home, I will definitely be adding the chillies and chives at home, and the eggs where so fresh and cooked perfect, only thing I would say my daughter had the porridge with apple, I think an apple purée would go better in the porridge but maybe it’s because I asked for it without the cinnamon

We had a fantastic lunch and were really impressed from the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly welcoming faces. Staff were excellent and very informed, we had 4 different starters and the barrata and beetroot were delicious and the salmon so fresh it melted in your mouth. We went for the sharing plates of steak and it was cooked perfectly and really well seasoned. The beef dripping focaccia was amazing and if you can squeeze it in try the pineapple glazed with rum and coconut as well as the sticky toffee pudding, it will not disappoint.

The best Sunday roast I ever had. The service was perfect and the food extraordinaire. The perfection on the presentation, the explosion of many different flavours it’s something I can define with the Word “Bravo”.

3 of us had lunch in the Brigade - before the food had hit the table there was a very dark long black hair - I politely told the waiter to take this back to the kitchen. When later asked if everything was OK I stated I was surprised to see none of the kitchen staff wearing hair nets. They sent the manager over who replied "we are not Mcdonalds!!!" If the likes of "low life" Mcdonalds (as he clearly has a poor opinion of them) and the likes of Gordon Ramsay's staff wear hair nets then I expect chefs with long beards and kitchen staff with long ponytails to also wear hair nets - the managers attitude was disgusting! - Yes they gave a discount but the point was his attitude stank!

This place ticks so many boxes.

The decor is lovely and everyone at our table loved the food. Tip: if you're going for lunch, try the beef dip sandwich!! Was DELICIOUS but honestly, it's a bit hard to pick a favourite dish as the dip sandwich, the pork shoulder salad and the buttermilk chicken burger were all winners.

I had really high hopes for this place, but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations.

Primera visita como parte de un grupo en el comedor privado. La habitación es bastante pequeña y solo puede acomodar hasta 8 personas cómodamente. El servicio era bueno, pero el bar / comedor principal estaba muy ocupado y por lo tanto era ruidoso. Trató con alergias muy bien. La comida era buena, pero los platos necesitaban ser calentados y los tamaños de las porciones eran desiguales: el pollo era enorme, la porción de pescado era pequeña, un montón de papas fritas pero porciones muy pequeñas de verduras en el plato. El vino era bueno para el precio. El personal muy amable. Recomendaría.

Enjoyable flavorsome roast. Only constructive feedback to the restaurant would be: please can we have more than one carrot per person, the plates needed to be warmer and the side dish should have come with a serving spoon – other than that it was great.

We were looking for somewhere to eat and to have a drink to shelter from the rain and this was the first inviting non chain place we found.

We came here on a Friday night and had a delicious dinner with great service. We were slightly surprised that it wasn't busier but there were quite a few people in the bar. We'd definitely recommend it.

This restaurant was a great find on Tooley street on the south bank of the River Thames. They’re pretty close to City Hall, the Tower Bridge, and the London Bridge tube station. The restaurant is in an old fire station and has an open kitchen where you see everything as it’s being prepared. I find that fun and entertaining as well as educational seeing how the chefs work. Try the Octopus Salad to start and Rib Eye for your entrée. We had cocktails and wine with our dinner and the check came out to about GBP80 for two people. Pretty reasonable for a great meal in London.

Dropped in here around 5pm for a meal which was to serve as lunch and dinner, having just dropped our bags at the Premier Inn Tower Bridge and heading for The Bridge Theatre. We were greeted warmly and given a choice of table as there were few other diners at that hour though some people at the bar across the room. The menu was interesting with some old pub favourites but sufficient new choices to attract. We chose seared beef carpaccio with rocket and parmesan, followed by hake with tenderstem broccoli. The menu accompanied this with Jersey Royals but we asked to substitute triple cooked chips which was agreed. When this course came the substitution had not been made but when we pointed this out, chips were brought after a brief pause for no extra charge and quite gladly. For pudding we both chose Ashlynn goat's cheese with Miller's apricot toasts (listed as 'fruit bread') and chutney. We shared a bottle of Viognier and one of sparkling water, had an Americano each and the bill with service added was £99.45.

A delightful restaurant with a social mission - training unemployed young people for a profession. The food is excellent (try the aubergine lasagne!) and the service attentive, courteous and prompt. Very reasonably priced and located close to London Bridge.

Came here for a business dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tasty, original and well-balanced food in a welcoming and cool atmosphere. Great spot for a drink in the bar too.

Had a beer outside, nice place, excellent friendly staff, and the beer tasted extra good when this restaurant works for a good cause

We had an evening meal here with our children. The staff were very efficient and super friendly. The menu offered a good selection of meals. The food was very well prepared, presented and delicious. Appreciated even by tired and “hangry” children!
