Great sandwiches when on the go or to simply take home, freshly made, far better than the cellophane and carboard box now seen common place...

Visited Bridge That Gap when visiting from Newfoundland, Canada. Fair to say that the service I received was still to the highest standards as it was when I left England over a year ago. Good quality food and good prices. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing by in the area.

Sandwich bar that offers top quality ingredients. Branded products here, no cheap wholesalers own name stuff. Quality back bacon with ALL the fat trimmed off, fantastic tasting sausages. Fresh bread, not out of the freezer stuff as other shops try to palm off. Wiltshire ham etc, all served on traditional baked that day Yorkshire T cakes ( for persons outside Yorkshire these are very large plain bread baps, barms, stooties, buns, breadcakes.).

Whether it's a bacon buttie or a lunch sandwich with a sausage roll this place is a little gem! I hear they deliver but never tried that out as I always walk down.

I like the Bacon, Egg, Sausage and Tomato buttie for £3.55 (at present) but I've had a few pork pies over the years and they're alright. You want a buttie, this is a pretty good place to get one. Not much more to say about it! Oh, I usually have my dog with me so the staff will come to the door to collect the money and then bring me the buttie, which is excellent service for dog walkers.

Great little place to buy a bacon or sausage bap made to order. Not expensive, quite quick, tea and coffee nice too. The only thing missing is a welcome. Never any chatter or good spirit. Imagine going into a doctors waiting room..about as friendly and convivial. Even a 'good morning' would be nice.

They've changed the menu to tapas recently and unfortunately the menu is expensive and limited for a tapas menu. Portion sizes are small, e.g. £5 for 4 small slices of bread and a dip, some tapas dishes are upwards of £15. I ordered a hanging kebab while the other 3 in my party did tapas and so their food came out way before mine and I was eating after they had finished so it ruined the experience. If we all had tapas it would be okay, but if none of us opted for tapas the only options are the kebabs so again the menu feels limited. A failed experiment.

This is a little gem of a cafe in the Piece Hall in Halifax. I came with a coach party from around the Blackpool area and we were dropped off at the Piece Hall first. It used to be a cloth merchants place many years ago and I worked just around the corner from here in an office in the 90’s and could not believe how much it had changed. It is full of little independent shops well worth venturing inside to look around. The stone work has been cleaned and the walkways/ floor redesigned. It’s beautiful now. A lot of money has been spent doing it up. They were just preparing to hold a Eurovision Song Contest party and I believe they held a Coronation party also for King Charles on May 6th. I ventured upstairs, there are lifts as well as stairs and came across G’s cakes. I love a nice latte and cake. Already members of my coach party were inside and I was served by a really lovely lady called Helen. She said she loved her job and you could tell. Nothing was too much trouble. I had a latte which was just perfect and a large slice of Victoria sponge. It was delicious. There were so many cakes to choose from. I was told they also had another outdoors eatery downstairs. It was so nice in G’s cakes, I went back before the coach headed onto Shibden Hall.
