Lots if people passing this newsagent will not notice that it is also a cafe. We have been using it for several years and have to say that they serve the best coffee in Matlock and it is so reasonable. The cafe area is at the rear and has a bay window overlooking the River Derwent. They serve delicious home-made cakes, scones and toasted teacakes and a choice of coffees and teas - my own favourite being a Cafe Latte (large). So you can buy your paper or magazine and sit with your coffee and cake enjoying views over the Bridge and the River Derwent!

Church StreetA really lovely pub in a beautiful location, with genuinely friendly, welcoming-yet-unobtrusive staff. The food was tasty and well-presented, with good portion sizes for both adults and children. Just be aware that a 10% surcharge is automatically added, and given the drinks are already quite overpriced, it does make it a more expensive meal out. We didn't mind too much as it was a Christmas treat, but since we'd like to return some time, we'd need to factor this in.
