This pub is the only one I have visited without pumps in the bar. Instead the barman disappears (if you are in the inside bar) and draws your pint direct from the cask in the cellar (which is also the outside bar - it’s in a hillside). Therefore there are no lines to get dirty. Anyway, whatever the reason, they served me a pint of Branoc (Branscombe Brewery) that was absolutely perfect. Oh, and the pub is also in a beautiful location. And you can walk from Topsham station, or take the bus.

This is a real treasure of an English public house. The interior decor has not altered in over a hundred years. The ceiling of the bar is unashamedly stained with wood soot and nicotine stains from days gone by. It is an old and preserved building that speaks to my retirement age soul as a reminder of how real pubs used to be before 'bistro' became our most prevalent oxymoron. The pint I drank was dark and full of flavour and my only regret was we had not arrived in time for many more. The pubs great location outside Topsham on the River Clyst affords the numerous riverside tables a fantastic view of the river and the wildlife. Food here is simple and is not the type that requires cooking. Pubs were once for drinking and a light snack that enabled you to stay a little longer. This is what The Bridge does. Simple snack food. I was lucky enough to see the meeting room at the side of the building that is licensed for weddings and also holds numerous evenings of classical, folk and other music. It's rare these days to plan a journey around a visit to a pub but I can think of few better ways to spend a warm Saturday afternoon than drinking excellent ale in this excellent pub. It's also a few minutes walk from the local train so driving need not be an option.

Stunning views, exceptional beer that changes all the time - they only have 5 beers on at once, 1 barrel of each so once it has gone, something different comes on. Simple food, pasties, sandwiches & ploughmans. Nothing else except the usual crisps/nuts. And staff who genuinely seem to love the place! And it shows.

I visited The Bridge for a CAMRA pre Christmas drink, there were about 25 of us there. Most of us had a pre ordered pasty, which I was told came from Chunk of Devon & were delicious. 😋 There was a good range of Real Ales available, from Bransconbe Branoc 3.8%abv, up to Crossed Anchors Red Rocket 7.2% abv,. 🍺😋 Wow, that was good!

A real, classic old world pub serving superb real ales on stillage (sadly a very endangered species). On offer is a very pleasant, unfussy lunch menu (on reputation, the vegan pasty sounds better than the meat version!). Parking is available. Access may be a challenge for some during winter, but wonderful during Summer to sit overlooking the Clyst with a well kept beer in hand.

Fantastic pub for fans of real ale, but if you're a lager drinker you might be disappointed. Very traditional opening hours so if you visit mid afternoon there won't be anyone there to serve you! What a brilliant OLD traditional pub. It has some wonderful Ales and Ciders to try. There are a few limited seats in the pub jn a couple of very small rooms with old furniture and tables. Both these rooms have a fire. They serve some limited food options like sandwiches crisps as well as toastie and pasties. There is a seating area outside with a few benches and a covered area too Opening hours are very old school. Opening at Midday and closing at 230pm everyday. Reopening at 530pm closing at 930pm. There is also a larger indoor room that accommodates live music. A brilliant place that is well worth seeking out. You may even be given a little guided tour too.

My lovely wife and I did an impromptu visit last night (Thursday) and after many years of hearing great and wonderful things about The Bridge and it's early years were delighted to find them all true. The people who were there and serving were do happy and a mine of information. The beers were all local and from the tap, not pumped. Kept to perfection and as we sat outside on the larde area set with benches, we were able to watch the ducks and their chicks, and a visiting swan in the warm summer evening. A grand experience. And I'm sorry guys! We will be back,! Beni (HRH)& Mike Keep doing what you're doing. It's good 10/5

The definition of a local gem, we have had the chance to enjoy both the excellent catering from Goierri, but also have been to the restaurant several times - it is now our go-to for when friends or family come to stay and we want to show off the excellent food available in Exeter. Eric, Nita and their family are not just talented chefs, but wonderful hosts. We love their ethos of minimising waste and delivering the best value and freshest of food, by getting people to book and pre-order their meals; meaning from the moment you arrive you can sit back, relax and look forward to all the wonderful flavours to come. The mussels in the Basque salsa verde are fabulous, we can't not order those when we visit. There is a fantastic range of different pintxos, tapas (hot and cold), as well as main dishes and of course the paella which is just delicious. The only thing that could possibly be improved is that they get the opportunity to have more space and more tables - but as that would mean they would have to move, I am very grateful for the current intimate set up and location!
