Brewers Fayre Flagstaff Island in North West Leicestershire

Staying at the hotel next door, I have been eating at the restaurant each evening. Carolynne Is fabulous. Always a warm welcome and the service is exceptional. Highly recommend the food and the staff.

Carolynne is an absolute diamond. Short on staff the night I was there she went above and beyond to keep everyone happy across the bar and the restaurant. Can't give her high enough praise for the work she did.

Very fantastic service from the 2 girls Molly and Carolynne, especially Molly, even though people are shouting and walking out on these guys Molly still smiling while serving me the good beer! Well done girls, whitbread needs to pull there finger out!!!!

Helen our waitress was very pleasant, chatty, helpful and suggested things for us on the menu which turned out to be delicious. There was 7 of us all together and we all enjoyed our meal and deserts. We had a meal for £8.99 for 2 people, and the meal was huge, presented very well, and cookd to perfection. Compliments to the cheff. As there was an odd number and i did not have anyone to pair up with for the offer, i was able to take a meal home which was boxd up for my teenage son, it was prepared not long before we left and even my son was complimenting how nice it was and the large portion. At the end of our meal, a new waitress carolynne joind her shift and she too was very welcoming, and pleasant, We had unlimited drinks and when we went to refill the machine was not working properly, so the lady bar manager? Can not remember her name very kindly helpd us , but instead gave us a soft drink from behind the bar, she too was very polite . Overall, we had a lovely meal, in a clean and friendly atmosphere with brilliant staff. Will defiantly be returning :)

Have been staying at the premier inn located next door for business, took full advantage of the meal deal option when booking as this is the most cost effective way of getting a great meal both breakfast and dinner.Was served by Carolynne on many occasions and found the service warm and welcoming.Will be looking to book here again next time I am in the area both business and pleasure.

I am currently staying at the premier hotel and I can’t rate the staff at brewers fayre ( the restaurant on site ) enough. They are very friendly and welcoming and the food has been lovely. In particular Ben and Caroline at brewers fayre can’t do more for me whilst I am staying at the hotel during breakfast and dinner as I am here whilst my house is under repair ! Under these circumstances I couldn’t have asked for a friendlier service for food whist I am away from home :) They have made my stay most enjoyable. Highly recommended .

I have visited brewers fayre restaurants before and this has to be the worst one i have experienced. We popped in here at lunchtime as we were waiting to check into the Premier Inn next door. We were seated to a table by a pleasant member of staff and thats about the best bit..... We were handed our menus and the drinks menu was covered in old food, including quite a noticeable piece of lettuce . Baring in mind that hygiene is very much at the forefront of everything at the moment this didn't seem to bother the staff member. After seeing this, we decided to grab a quick bite, so chicken goujons and dirty fries. The goujons turned up very well done and the dirty fries, what a rip off, 4 quid for 10 fries, tonnes of cheap bbq sauce, 2 bits of bacon and a sprinkle or should i say a dusting of cheese!! Whilst looking around waiting for our plates to be taken we noticed the dirt on the floor, now you would think the restaurant was full... No there was us and 2 other tables. So no excuses for not having a quick sweep to clear old food off the floor when there's 2 staff members on. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you were desperate. I would recommend using the hand sanitizer on your way out!

Had a meal here. Positive staff were rushed but efficient and all pleasant enough. My wife had an average burger I had a sirloin steak that was more fat and sinew than meet not a great meal staff didn't ask how our meal was and I couldn't be bothered to moan. So as I said pretty average overall experience. Beer was good.

We stayed in the premier Inn next door (we'll adjoining really) we booked a table for dinner so we weren't messing around trying to find somewhere. The staff were excellent, food fantastic and very reasonable prices. £35 for both to Have meal, pudding and drinks. Really good service. We also had breakfast Which was equally fab.

Visited here for dinner whilst staying at the premier inn. Overall we were pleased with the food and service. Food was a good standard. Portion sizes on the smaller side. They had ran out of a few items which was slightly annoying but understand these things happen. Reasonably priced. Quick and friendly service.

We came for a family meal for a breakfast. We were a group of 10 so were sat on separate tables but we were still next to each other which was great as we were with family who have come over from the Isle of Man for the weekend and haven’t been seen in over a year due to covid.Mark was very accommodating and we couldn’t have asked for a better waiter! We didn’t have the easiest of orders but he made sure that we all got what we asked for. We had a vegetarian and a gluten free order and Mark was very accommodating with this. He kept our drinks refilled at all times (this was a lot!) and was very helpful and friendly and nothing felt like it was too much to ask for. Thank you Mark! Food was great and came quickly. Thank you again Mark!

Had a lovely time this evening with my mom out for a Sunday treat food was lovely service even better our waitress carolynne was amazing very friendly and even more attentive fantastic service would highly recommend will be coming back

Food portions shocking no value for any money the lady on mornings breakfast has a shocking attitude not a morning person at all however evening shift Caroline is fantastic can't help you enough service with a great attitude and a lovely smile which goes along way in my book the staff definitely need to take a leaf out of Caroline's book 100% needs promotion

Came out with the lads for 60th birthday! Great service. Caroline the acting duty manager welcomed us in. Will definitely be returning again.

Great staff, food is great, not every day you get a salad that's hotter than ya breakfast 🤣🤣 but Carolynne my waitress was excellent, deserves a promotion!

Went here for my grandson’s 6th birthday breakfast. His choice. He loves the pancakes with chocolate spread. Staff all very friendly and professional. Nothing too much trouble. Very well set out taking into account social distancing. The choice for breakfast is excellent. The hot food was well cooked and tasty too. The sausages were very tasty. Great to be able to choose what you want to eat. Must be really hard for staff now not able to provide buffet service. Great value for money especially taking into account the ‘Kids eat free’ offer. Definitely use again.

Possibly the worst meal I've ever had in a pub. The food was so late it must have been under the heat lamps to dry out what little was on my plate but that wasn't the worst of it. Most of my vegetables came in installments due to them not being on my plate, as did the stuffing which looked like it used to be part of the cavity wall insulation! The wife had the smothered chicken which, I'm guessing, was the reason the food was late as it had been cremated. You can tell when the staff know they've served you rubbish, they're trained to as "How is your meal" when you're eating and they must have realised that they'd get both barrels from me and the wife told me not to send it back because of how long it took in the first place. Both my wife and daughter enjoyed the desert but I'm guessing the "chefs" had very little to do with that. I have eaten here before, be it a few years ago and I've eaten in a few Brewers Fayre's but this will stop me going to one for a long time. Its very rare I don't tip but this dinning experience was so awful it really didn't deserve one. There's a McDonald's next door, try that!

Currently here on a 3 night business stay and have had different experiences each night the first night I couldn’t fault at all good food a great pint and fantastic service by Louis I was seated and had a drink in hand immediately promptly followed by my food but also with exceptional manners and ensuring everything was perfect the only time I have felt service like I was given was by a pub owner The second night is quite possibly one of the worst experience I have ever had after being seated I waited 30 mins just to order a drink and food and then my food arrived before my drink I finished my meal and was then left 20 mins after finishing before I finally gave in I spotted louis that had served me the night before ( the pub being split into serving sections this wasn’t his section ) I explained my annoyance at the service and asked if he could sort my desert he was very professional and in less than 2 mins my desert and drink where in front of me along with an apology and again ensuring he went above and beyond to ensure everything was right The 3rd night again I was not overly impressed by the service but unfortunately no Louis to save the day this time It’s quite clear what members of staf take pride in the jobs, go above and beyond and have fantastic customer service skills and what staff are there for the pay check

We dined here as part of our hotel stay. COVID restrictions are in place and fully adhered to. Friendly staff and we couldn’t fault our server Louis enough, very tentative and he was so helpful,kept us fed and watered all night. Food was good, hot and portions were very generous. We will be returning soon when we come for our next stay!

We often eat at The Flagstaff Ashby-de-la-Zouch, but today was exceptional. Amazingly friendly welcoming staff & management. The relief manager had recognised us from last weekend and was so friendly. They'd obviously been busy, but Millie still gave a great hello. The food was lovely & nothing was to much trouble, the cranberry juice is lovely, and the teabags make a great cuppa. The poached eggs are cooked to perfection & the bacon & sausages are great, and nothing is too much trouble.

Visited today for lunch with a few friends, we were slightly late for our booking but they were more than understanding. The staff especially millie our server went above and beyond to accommodate us and made us feel very welcome. Everyone was lovely and a real tribute to the hospitality industry even with social distancing measures in place everything went very smoothly and we were really looked after.We were given plenty of time to make choices on what to order. Food was very quick with any drinks we ordered. Just an excellent restaurant with great food. Highly recommend!!!

Me and a my mate stopped off at the flagstaff before we went into town, Carolynne welcomed us in and sat us to a table straight away.. was very efficient and also a great laugh. I bought a meal deal for two weeks stay which includes, 2 courses and unlimited breakfast. The food and service was perfect and prompt, nothing was too much trouble and the staff were always happy and welcoming. Special thanks to Helen and Linda for their friendly service each morning, it felt like home from home - 5 stars! :)

We have finally been able to catch up with friends. I recommend this restaurant. The food was hot and plenty of it. The staff are so friendly especially carolynne. She was our waitress. Will debe returning soon.

Service was appalling takes ages staff to take the orders. unlimited breakfast that was burnt and also had a hair on my egg didn’t bother asking for seconds as the first plate was bad enough. Unlimited drinks but if you ask for more then one you get the death stare. Could hear very clearly the kitchen staff swearing. Please avoid not worth the money. My mum also brought me here last year she chocked on her food and not one member of staff came to see if she was ok.

I have used premier inns and their on site restaurants for work since 2002. And i can safely say that the meal i tried to eat on 21/05/21 was the worst i have had in 19 years. We both ordered lasagne and with "garlic" flat bread. When it came to our table it was blatantly microwaved and had an inch thick of cheesy melted oily sludge on top. And tge grease had leaked all over the meal. It was a poor excuse for a meal and to be charged £11 a pop is just a mickey take. The "garlic" flatbread must have been prepared by a vampire as there was as much garlic on tge flat bread as hair on my uncle Rogers head and he has been bald since he was 19. The best part of the meal was the side salad. Honestly my 10 year old nephew could do better. We did say something to the staff the young lad apologised and that was it. Avoid at all costs there is a KFC and McDonald's next to it.

Service was great during breakfast and dinner, Carolyne was great during dinner. Only thing was I had to wait like 15 minutes for my drinks to arrive for breakfast after I ordered them, no problem though I got them in the end.

Had a lovely night's sleep in Premier Inn next door, let down totally by the morning breakfast. Ordered cooked as I knew it had to last me all day and was very let down. Ordered scrambled egg, bacon, mushrooms and hash browns but everything was tepid at best in fact it was cold. Bloody awful and a waste of money. Avoid

As we were staying at the premier inn for a week we used the bar and restaurant everyday, the place was clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the service and food good, we had always just gone in on spec and was always ok because hardly anyone was in, but we were always aware that during busy times we may have to book in advance, however, yesterday, my wife and her friend attended the restaurant and kindly asked if it was ok to go to a table ( as there was hardly anyone in) only to experience a harsh unfriendly and offensive response from the person on duty stating that “all” tables were booked and even if you are resident you still have to book in advance, it’s not the fact that it was “allegedly” fully booked, that was the issue, although, seemed unlikely as we had been every day for a week and it had never been close to capacity, it was the tone and manner of the person on duty, all other staff we met there had been first class, it’s such a shame a business has to suffer for the sakes of “one” staff member...We won’t be returning.

Had a lovely catch up at the flagstaff with friends. The roast beef was very good. And very good value. Carolyne and Josh served us. They are a credit to the place. Will definitely be returning soon.

We use Flagstaff on a regular basis Carolyn serves us most of the time. All I can say is Carolyn is absolutely fantastic she knows what my order will be before I have even ordered. She is always happy and extremely friendly to all guests. Keep up the good work.

I returned to this restaurant because of my last experience and I was not disappointed again the food was fantastic, I definitely recommend the cheesy chilli nachos! I was welcomed by Caroline that tuck us to our table and made us feel safe from COVID-19 so professional and welcoming and once again nothing was too much trouble I could even feel her smiling behind the face mask we would definitely recommend Caroline for a promotion!..

Had an absolutely lovely meal and 10/10 service from Carolynne ! Was really pleased with the Mac&cheese meal i had and all the other meals hand no complaints and were delicious! Carolynne was very polite and made sure all our meals were out in good time and was very friendly! Can't thank her enough for making out time there very pleasant! We reserved a table for 19:30 but when we arrived on time we were told that we would need to wait outside in the rain as there were no tables ready. I can understand that with this terrible COVID situation that these things might happen from time to time. Whilst waiting outside in the pouring rain I saw a table being cleared, which I thought would be ours. Ten minutes afterwards, still outside and soaking wet I went back in and asked for my booking to be cancelled as it was clear they had forgotten about us. I mentioned that I saw a table being cleared and remained clear but still we were not invited inn. The host on the reception desk advised that it was a bar (drinking) table and not for eating. But why could we have not been invited to take that table whilst we wait for a dining table ..... I would have been happy to buy drinks.

Usual lunchtime visit served by the lovely Helen , who always makes the visit extra special. Lots of laughs and a cheerful smile which is even more important in these troubling times.

We came for lunch with our little girl. The social distancing measures in place were brilliant, well planned and thought out.Our waitress was Helen, she was so lovely, made us feel so welcome and couldnt do enough to help. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced. We did have to wait a while for food but in all fairness Helen came and explained why, so cant ask for more than that. Will definitely come back

As we arrived we was welcomed and seated quickly. Helen served us today, she was very helpful, friendly and was very good with my autistic son. Her personally glows and made us smile. Food was yummy, my son who is very picky ate very well and left very happy.

This was our first visit after lockdown we were regular customers before Covid 19. We both enjoyed our lunch. Thank you Helen always cheerful and creates a good atmosphere.

This restaurant covered all the Covid-19 procedures to make it a safe and comfortable place to eat and drink. The staff the were all very welcoming and friendly making sure that the tables were regularly cleaned and social distancing was adhered to. Well done!

Been here for a week on business and what can I say.. many thanks to Molly, Caroline, and Caitlin for thier exceptional service and friendly smiles! The food was incredible and on the table in a blink of an eye..so well done to the chef too! Chicken/bacon burger and chips or the 6 oz cheese and bacon burger and chips so so delicious! Nothing was too much of a bother for these ladies.. went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in a relaxed atmosphere after a hard days work. Even the early morning breakfasts were top notch and the morning staff I believe,.. Helen and Linda also overly welcoming and attentive to your every need.. no hanging around. Room was excellent and the bed so comfy... even the guy on the hotel reception thru the nights .. didn't get his name.. also extremely friendly and helpfull.. a massive thank you to a great team.. a memorable stay.. thankyou Flagstaff island brewer's fayre/premier inn .. hopefully I'll be back again soon.

I often stay in the Premier Inn in Ashby on business trips and I always enjoy eating in the Brewers Fayre. The breakfasts are superb and the staff are especially nice, very efficient and friendly service, in particular I'd like to give a special mention to 2 of the regular breakfast ladies, Helen and Linda, what a couple of stars! True legends of the breakfast experience! They are doing a magnificent job under the current difficult circumstances with Covid-19. As for dinner at the Brewers Fayre, that is also great, nice tasty steaks, washed down with a pint of Guinness. The dinner staff are also super nice, great service, very kind and thoughtful, really know how to make me feel at home! So a big thanks to all the staff at the Brewers Fayre!

We had a very good dinning experience We havnt been since they reopened it was very safe and clean. The staff put on aprons and gloves to wipe the tables it made me feel very at ease. We will be making regular visits now we have been. They are doing a smashing job.

Have ate here before and knew the standards were good so I thought I would stop off again. Friendly welcome and lots of safety measures in place. The manageress was very welcoming and couldn’t of been more friendly. The food came quickly and was delicious. I will certainly be popping in again.

Here with the family for a few days the breakfast was delicious great service from helen and millie they made sure everyone had everything they needed kept everything clean and tidy following the government's guidelines its a place we come to offten when visiting family and Helen and millie always here with a smile Thank you

Upon arrival the woman at the counter was very abrupt regarding the COVID rules, I understand that the are new rules to follow but there are ways of delivering this information and she just didn’t have any customer service skills (something that carried on through the whole visit). We were shown to our table - we were literally the only people in there and there was only 3 adults & 1 child in our party so no excuse for the slow service we received. When our food finally arrived my sirloin steak looked very grey & anaemic (unappetising) but it was also lukewarm at best. I sent it back and the replacement was exactly the same albeit clearly a new steak so the issue seemed to be the actual skills of the chef. I felt I had to eat this one but didn’t enjoy it at all and the only saving grace was the current 33% off for blue light cardholders...I would have complained if paying full price. The moral of the story is that both the service and the food is bad so my suggestion is to avoid this place at all costs.

Ventured out for a family meal, good social distancing in place and service was excellent. Restaurant was extremely hot, but certainly couldn’t be helped, after all we chose to go out for a meal on one of the hottest days of the Year. Felt really sorry for the staff who were boiling but it certainly didn’t stop them from being cheerful and very helpful. Food was delicious and at £10 a head for 2 courses and drinks we certainly have no complaints. Thanks for Megan and Josh who kept smiling through the heat.

We had a great meal here even allowing for late arrival due to traffic hold ups. From the initial greeting to service throughout it was excellent. All staff were friendly helpful & their attention to Covid prevention was exemplary. We observed tables& chairs cleaned throughly after use & many other precautions are taken, including several “sanitiser points.”Each of Our meals was delicious & the slight problem with my daughters was dealt with by Carolynn immediately with no fuss, thank you.

A nice and affordable place with lush food! Had a smothered chicken burger which definitely lived up to expectations. It was nice eating somewhere with a good atmosphere. And the service from waitresses Megan molly and carolynne topped it off!

I went for a meal with my family and was served by a lady call Carolynne she was nothing but AMAZING! so good with the kids getting them crayons and entertaining them and made us feel really welcome and nothing was to much trouble for her extremely polite and helpful. She made it one of the best dining experience we have ever had as a family and the food was good for the money to! Thank you so much we will definitely be coming back again!! X

We visited this pub one evening last week as we'd had a long journey and just wanted a quick bite to eat for us and our little boy.Nice and clean in there, very friendly staff - particularly Carolynne behind the bar - and tasty food. Never thought of going there before, but we will be back!

Was greeted very kindly by carolynne as we walked in a was seated straight away! Which was lovely! Brought the family including 2 young boys which she helped out with the kids menu! Service was excellent with no messing about and done with a smile! Food was great too! We recently returned for a family meal. Unfortunately over Christmas we visited we a large party and experience wasnt great. However returned the service and food was amazing. The staff greeted us with smiles. Carolynne is a credit to the place. Nothing was to much trouble. Our kids loved her :-)

This was the first time I’ve visited the company. Business meeting meal and drinks. We were given a quiet area as requested. The service was excellent. Molly and carolynne served us with a warm smile. They catered to our needs. Very chatty and approachable. More meeting will be made at this company. Thumbs up!

We have used this place for a few months for cheap eats. The foods not great but its cheap. The service is dreadfully slow and there are always people moaning about waiting.My issue is there are just so many people sending meals back and complaining its not a nice atmosphere to eat in.Friday we were the only table that didnt send meals back. The table next to us 3times.Then they sit complaining and everyone joins in and you just want to leave. I dont think we have been for a while and NOT seen meals sent back but recently its just unbelievable.I cant understand how they just accept so many meals being sent back.

Just off the A42 so popped in for a snack. Our waitress Molly is certainly a credit to the place, as she was warm and welcoming and she simply couldn’t do enough for us all! The restaurant is well kept and the food tasty, just what we were looking for to break up a long trip!

I have to be honest the drink s were bad. Some of the meals the family had were not Great! Staff where slow. My food was ok. I think again before coming here again!

Friendly helpful staff. Plenty of parking. Changing menu. Children's menus. Free refills on soft drinks.The choice of food is very good. There were 12 of us and it did take a while to be delivered. The food was plentyful and tasty It is always good when we come here.

Great service, food over priced & looked nothing like the images. Portion size also dubious to the images.

Food was grate elanna did a grate job with the puddings. Would definitely recommend to anyone for this place.

After reading some of the reviews, I was expecting the worst but was pleasently suprised that there were no issues what so ever. Great service, great meal.

Gave this place the benefit of the doubt and tried it a second time after a terrible visit which resulted in a full refund and included my child being served dirty carrot peelings under the guise of carrot sticks. The second visit was no better. Starter undercooked, and both mains were wrong (one was the wrong type of burger completely, and the other had 50% of the meal missing and was burnt). Clearly understaffed and the noises from the kitchen sounded like a chimps tea party. Shockingly poor.

Went a month ago and it was not good - food lukewarm and no staff available. Thought we had hit a bad “one off” so went again last Thursday. There is a sign asking you to wait to be seated but a member of staff totally ignored us so we found a vacant table - there were many empty tables. You now order your food at the bar but there was no member of staff behind the bar so I waited until someone appeared. The drinks and then food arrived. The food looked very uninspiring and again was hardly warm. When the waitress eventually came to clear the plates I said the food had not been good and was lukewarm. She apologised. Would not return. If you are staying at the adjoining Premier Inn would suggest eating at either KFC or McDonalds on the same site.
