I visited the small cafe and what a wonderful place experienced a lovely meal and atmosphere. Service The service was very good your treated like a personal customer friendly and well informed. Food The food was well cooked hot and and I asked for my egg to be well done. The egg was superb so was the drink a really nice one. Where The cafe is in debradelei Mill near Morrison’s in Belper Derbyshire. it’s on the first floor and is accessible if you use the small lift not the large one. Staff will help if you need it.

I recently celebrated my Birthday at the Belper Rugby Club. Stacey supplied my buffet for the evening she was extremly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food she supplied was super and plenty of it. I can highly recommend Brettles Bistro outside catering service if you want personal service.

Booked here for a party of 8 for Sunday lunch. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and very clean. £12.95 for 2 courses or £15.95 for 3 courses from a set menu but plenty of choice. The meal was excellent, home cooked food, just like mum used to make. Would highly recommend.

Found the Mill when exploring Belper on a Saturday lunchtime and then found the Bistro on the 3rd floor. Nice and bright and very clean so thought we would take lunch there. It was also not very busy with only half a dozen tables occupied at most. The menu was two sheets of A4 attached to a clipboard on each table. Some items priced, others not. You go to the counter to place your order. I ordered a "Derbyshire breakfast" to be told not available as only served until 12. This was despite signs around the building saying breakfasts etc are served between 10 and 3. No problem, changed the order for a gammon ham with salad bar with some chips. Tuna and cheese melt for the good lady and two pots of tea. Then told the tea would be some time as they had a backlog on the drinks. In fact, two or three customers who ordered just drinks and were told of the delay changed their mind and walked away. Tea did arrive after about 10 minutes. Drinkable but certainly not what you might call hot. Then my ham arrived. three slices on a plate (cost nearly £7 with chips £1.95 extra) Visit the salad bar where there are four bowls. One contains 3 halves of boiled egg. Second contains coleslaw, third some salad leaves and the fourth, salad leaves mixed with peppers, cucumber and spring onions. It was tasty but very little choice and does not compare to such as a Harvester salad bar. In the meantime, the tuna and cheese melt arrived. It was sent straight back as it was cold and the cheese had not even begun to melt. Not sure how much this was as it was one of the items not priced on the menu but the whole lot came in at just over £18. Another table clearly had some issue as the "chef" came out and explained they had a backlog. I hate to think what it may be like if they were busy. It could be a very nice place to eat but some thought needs to be put into their processes to be more efficient and speed things up. Won't be returning anytime soon I'm afraid.

To do this review I am going to do a couple of comparisons. On Saturday in Southport at a Costa Coffee my mum and I had 2 large coffee's one Latte one Americans, one hot bacon bap and a millionaires shortbread cake all delicious and fresh at a cost of £8.60p in very comfortable surroundings. Today at Brettles Bistro my partner and I had two Lattes I would say medium size, with a cheese toasty each which came with a tiny bit of what one can only describe as four day old wilted salad😠. The bill for this gastronomic plate of yuk was £16.95!!!! To say my ten year old granddaughter could rustle up a more appetising and fresh snack is an understatement. Shame on you the owner of Brettles you should be publicly flogged for serving dead food overcharging for it to understand what good food at a great price is read my next review on The Boat Inn Cromford.

Our first visit - found by accident whilst passing through Belper! A pretty cafe cum bistro set within a lovely former mill building (worth a visit to the building itself for the fabulous period life with original lift with 2 sliding doors). Nice décor to the café with mill artifacts adorning the walls and tempting gifts to peruse. Stopped for lunch and treated ourselves to the Vegetable soup served with either bread or a homemade cheese scone. Fairly priced, our bill coming to £12 or so including drinks. Soup looked really nice but to be honest was lacking in flavour however the scone and bread were really nice. Service was good and it was a nice relaxing lunch. Would certainly re-visit when in the area again.

Great to see the old Mill buildings coming back to life and this cafe is just what the shopping centre at De Bradelei needed. Well laid out, spotlessly clean with good decor and I love the big windows. Warm and friendly greeting with that all important smile, coffee and cake hit the spot. If you want a breather from shopping give this place a try.

Finding myself with a couple of hours to kill I wandered around the De Bradelei factory outlet and found this little bistro. I ordered a latte and the carrot and coriander soup and it was lovely. Fresh whole meal bread on the side. Would definitely visit again.

We really enjoyed our lunch at Brettles yesterday. There's a great choice and the homemade cheese and onion quiche was the nicest I've ever tasted. The chips are homemade and well worth ordering as a side or bowl. There's a help yourself salad bar to accompany most of the mains or you can opt for sauteed vegetables and new potatoes. The staff were lovely. Will definitely return.

What a great place to have lunch. The atmosphere is lovely and clean and the staff are friendly. The menu is vast with daily specials but I opted for a jacket with tuna which was served with a lovely dressed salad. You can see where they cook the food too. It’s a nice place, food was great and at a good price. It should do very well. You should visit if you get chance! Apart from that it’s set in a lovely mill environment with some nice shopping and my favourite shoe shop - Pavers.

Recently I meet up with a friend for coffee which turned into breakfast then lunch, yes the food was that good! We were both very impressed by the new management at Brettles Bistro. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the furniture very comfortable. I had a Bacon Sandwich which was cooked fresh on thick brown bread filled with lots of crispy bacon, delicious. We came back for lunch and both had a freshly made omelette with fresh mushrooms a colorful mixed salad containing fresh grapes, spring onion, radishes and red onion to name but a few items. Served with chunky chips to share. All the food is fresh and cooked to order. Looking forward to visiting again soon to explore the menu.
