Brennans' Bar in Belfast

Great traditional bar with excellent food and lovely staff. We had an Irish stew, full of melt in the mouth meat, an all day fry perfectly cooked with and soup and a sandwich combo. Everything was served quickly and was hot and freshly cooked. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.

I had a red ale and the chicken burger. Food was great as was the bartender. I felt comfortable eating at the bar alone.

A nice pub where we enjoyed an all day fry and a couple of pints. The place is clean and cozy, and the staff is very friendly (like all Irish people) and welcoming.

The guy behind the bar was definitely working in slow motion . Sure he forgot all about my pint of Beamish and went away for a shower of something the amount of time he took .

Had a mates meet up in Brennans in Belfast opposite the Europa. A range of selected pints were £4.95 which was a good intro. We had planned to move on for a late lunch elsewhere but the staff were so accommodating and it was comfortable we asked for the bar menu. Between us we had chicken curry half & half, chicken coupons and chips and fish and chips. Everyone enjoyed and the portions were big. I can honestly say my fish & chips was up there with the best...photo attached. Highly recommend

Read sign outside..world famous fish n chips 🍟 omg 😲 was worst ever i tasted. Frozen hard chips, fish was not white in colour you can guess the rest. Never be back. Terrible meal.

Food served very quickly was tasty and hot.

Called in to watch the Rugby and have food and a couple of drinks .. Bar was cold and dirty and pints were not great .. My Wife said the ladies toilets were vile , gents wasn’t much better ….4 of us left at half time .. didn’t try the food as if that’s the hygiene standard of the bar and toilets I wouldn’t take the chance the kitchen would be any cleaner

Brennan’s Bar in Belfast is a hidden gem! We loved the traditional stew, the famous fish and chips, and the surprisingly good zero-percent Guinness. Fantastic food and a great atmosphere!

The fish was nice but I was disappointed at the skinny chips. I ordered fish and chips not fish and McDonald's fries!

Really good value food here, so good we went twice. £14.95 for the fish & chips is the star attraction. The downfall is the chips are a pile of cheap fries. But everything else makes up for it. The fish is large & cooked really well, still moist on the inside & with the added bread & butter & salad etc it's very good value. The stew & sausage (4) & champ were also really good value & tasty. The service is also incredibly fast & staff are friendly & efficient.

Went to Brennan's yesterday as we were hungry and it's convenient to the new Grand Central Station. My partner and I both opted for the highly-advertised "Fresh cod, chips, mushy peas and bread and butter". To say it was disappointing would be an understatement. Dried-up fish, cold skinny fries and a basic small piece of salad, with two slices of Lidl's basic white bread. Our 6yo(celebrating her birthday yesterday) chose the kids goujons and chips and ate basically none of it. Along with a Coke, a white coffee and a very ordinary pint of Guinness, the bill was just shy of £50. My partner actually felt ill after we left. The food was disgusting. Have a word with your chef Brennan's-they obviously take very little pride in their work and your bar will end up a "Beaten Docket" once more. Will never be back!😡

Loved this place sitting upstairs waving at the tourist on the bus invited them in for a drink, thank feck they didn't as it would have cost me a fortune. Food and staff outstanding.

We visited on Friday after not being able to get a drink at the excessively crowded pub next to it. Much more welcoming environment and seating available. Got the best pint of Guinness I was poured in Belfast during our entire four day stay there. Proving the touristy type pubs there aren’t always the best.

Went here last night with some of our Bus Pass Members and we had a great time, entertainment was fantastic, big thankyou to Emma and Kieran who kindly accommodated us nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back thankyou 💕

Great pub near Belfast's main rail/bus station. Less touristy than the (admittedly stunning) Crown Liquor Saloon on the opposite corner of the street.

We went for the famous fish and chips but were disappointed, the chips were french fries and the fish was quite greasy. Other people's food looked good. The atmosphere and service couldn't be faulted.

This was the first place I went to for lunch on a recommendation and the last place I sent to before I left a few days later and the young lady actually remembered me!!!! I wish I got her name (blonde hair usually in a ponytail by the bar) very friendly! The food was so good! It was my luck that each time I went, the chef hadn't started yet 😆 so I had to wait. Really great atmosphere whether with friends or solo like I was! Great memory! Will be back!!!!

Fantastic place! I used to have a Brennan's in my home town that was owned and run by a lovely couple. So, naturally, when I came across this Brennan's I had to give it a sample, and boy it did not disappoint. Go in, order the Irish stew and have a pint of black gold

Ulster fry was delicious! And they pour a great pint of Guinness.

Nice pub, great for a drink. Ideal for larger groups because it is not very busy, unlike the adjacent pubs.

Never been in a pub which charged more for a guinnes than an ordinary pint..Thatcwas a first..Other than that great atmosphere, love the jukebox and the girl serving was very happy in her job..

Pint tastes like it was poured through a dirty sock, and price was well over charged, staff to busy talking and one is just aggressive, no idea why as he looks like a child with stupid cap. Over 6 quid for a pint is a joke.

We ate in the restaurant upstairs, had fantastic service and great care taken for a person with allergies. Couldn't have asked for better!

No WiFi for prices dearer than Dublin (except Temple bar) "Artist" was simply doing karaoke and the songs so sounded the same because of that. Wasn't that busy on a Friday at 7pm says everything. Top prices and minimum wage kids serving them. Only 1 cider on draught too. I got 10p change out of 10 sterling for one pint of cider and one 200ml Coke. The sweets I bought elsewhere softened the blow 😂

1 Apr. Monday a cool evening outside a warm welcome inside. Found a seat for my wife and I. The bar person came to take the orders for drink and food. The food arrived minutes later. Boiling hot and lots of it on hot plates. It was delicious 😋 . The atmosphere was friendly and typical pub vibe of sport on the TV. Still... Nice place for great food and relaxed chat with company 👌 good value for money 💰

I popped in for a quick bite. Service was fast and pleasant and the food was good. I had the burger but they seem to promote their fish & chips. Looking at a couple of plates being served to another table the recipients seemed to be intimidated by the large portion. I'm regretting not going for it.

I was here all day watching the football and rugby. Drank too much and had the chicken burger which was great. Although Fibbers and the Crown Saloon is next door, Brennans was well worth the visit!

The food was AWESOME, especially the beef and mushroom pie. The prices were absolutely reasonable, and the service was very good, especially considering how late my party came in.

On arrival to this bar I was looking forward to a nice pint. 2 young staff behind the bar very rude & then served 2 sloppy pints. Locals weren't friendly at all. Hostile environment in the bar. Drank small amount of pint & left.

Didn't have food so can't comment on that. The person who served me honestly didn't have a clue what he was doing. Could have been new staff but definitely has alot to learn.

Very nice place to grab some beer. First we wanted to have just one each but as the athmosphere of the place was really good and the singer was really great we decided to stay longer. It's a bit noisy place to be but we felt relaxed and happy and that's what makes this bar unique in my eyes. As the bar next to this one was full we're glad we found this place.

Had something to eat and it was ok. Basic pub grub on offer. Good atmosphere downstairs with a good singer.

Guinness is good and prices decent. Fish and chips are a generous 4/10 and that's their most advertised dish. Was quite disappointed with the food.

Perfect place to have a pint and watch any of the matches. Big screens inside. Pints are not expensive either. Very friendly, quick staff

Difficult to watch the rugby when the band was so loud. Would have been better without the music.

A great pint of Guinness 9.4 and a great atmosphere in here, the football was on and it was packed but we managed to find seating very easily. The service was great and staff friendly Again so many tourists and quite a few regulars, love the diversity of the bars in Belfast.

Staff couldn't care less. Stand with they're back to the counter ignoring customers. 3 people standing waiting to order drinks and waiting near 10 minutes for a member of staff to actually do something.

My wife and I went into the bar and were totally ignored by the staff who served other people who came in after us and it wasn't as if the pub was busy. After patiently waiting and being ignored we left. Will never go again.

Food was great (mushroom and beef pie) along with a pint of Hop House 13. Ate dinner with another family we met in the pub up from the Republic on Holiday.

A better pub than the over promoted rival next door, good prices,friendly service and seats available.

Awesome place. I have been away from Ireland for many a year and just had a family meet up. The entertainment, food and staff were magnificent. It really was a highlight of our trip and I will be sure to go back when visiting again. Thanks folks.

Service was very slow but the food really good and atmosphere was pleasant so was worth waiting for, great pints of Coors also . Worth the visit.

Randomly walked in on a Saturday night as the first bar on our belfast trip - was not disappointed! Loud music, drinks galore, dancing, singing, friendly people, quick service. We finished the trip with a visit here too it was very good! We didn't get a chance to eat but the menu was vast, the food looked fresh, piping hot and huge portions.

Dropped in for lunch quiet at the time staff friendly and welcoming, food great and plenty of it. Very clean place

If I cloud give 0 star I would fish or what ever it was soggy and frozen chips come on takes few minutes the peel and chip few spuds and the beer flat and attitude because you complained says it all stay away floks there's far better in town than this place
