Bread & Milk in Brighton and Hove

Our 2nd visit to the Bread & Milk and it didn't disappoint on either visit. The sandwiches are delicious and generous. Coffee is excellent and cakes look yummy but we resisted the urge. The staff are friendly and helpful, with a nice atmosphere, just a short walk from the main throng of the North Lanes. Worth a try if you're nearby.

Very expensive. But tasty. Got a Matcha Latte and bacon and tomato sandwich. Outside lovely but it a busy walking path.

Coffee was subpar. Carrot cake was dry and extremely sweet.

This place was spot on! It’s light, vibrant, lively and so tasty. The array of sandwiches is top notch, especially the pesto, pastrami and mozzarella, chefs kiss, and the pastries. The drinks selection covers all the basics with few creative juices as well. For a bite out in the sun on the cute tables out the front, a quick coffee or bite to eat as you walk the lanes, this is the place I’ll be heading back to. The service was cracking as well, Very friendly and efficient :)

I have popped in here a few times now for a coffee and cake. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Do try the banana and chocolate bread. My wife prefers it heated up by I find it nicer cold. The only slight drawback is the proximity of the toilet to the cooking area.

Excellent, excellent coffee. Bakery goods also looked tastey but didn’t have time. Put this on your list.

Amazing and beautifully made sourdough baps, rolls and sandwiches! We spent a couple of days in Brighton and came across Bread and Milk accidentally so we went back the next day too.....we're planning on working our way through the entire selection as we come to Brighton regularly. The only downside is the inside sitting space which is tiny....we had to do a bit of strolling and return to get a seat indoors as it was freezing outside so too cold to take advantage of their outside tables, however it was worth it. The fillings are so generous, the sauces are so tasty and the prices are so reasonable it's worth the wait.... the drinks are great too, staff are friendly and there's a toilet for patrons!

Second time I’ve come in at 7:30am when they open, I notice the croissants are always stale..? You’d think being there first thing in the morning they would be fresh out the oven but they’re definitely from yesterdays batch. First time I assumed it was a mistake but second time it’s clearly just their practice to charge you 7£ for a coffee and a stale croissant. Kinda scandalous if you ask me.

Good coffee and food, been here a few times as it's close to a parking spot and wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff (weren't upset with me when I thought they opened earlier) and decently priced so might drop by again next time.

Lovely atmosphere, good coffee and cake, would have been 5 stars but the service was a little slow and an item was forgotten.

So friendly and polite and welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and the food and drinks are so good, the salted caramel brownie is delicious.

I visited here 3 times whilst in town and really enjoyed the three coffees I had. Lovely staff. Food looked great but didn’t try it. Nice place to sit alone and people watch.

Highly recommend this cafe if you visit Brighton. My partner and I went for breakfast and fell in love with their breakfast bap. The bread is crispy but soft at the same time, inside there were sausages, bacon, salad leaves and tomato. We chose to add eggs inside and this choice just made the bap more delicious. We also ordered blueberry bakewell, cinnamon bun, Nutella croissant, carrot cake for take away. They were all tasty. We will definitely visit again when we go to Brighton.

Excellent service, 10/10 food, reasonably priced, and great atmosphere. Cafe furniture was very comfortable, modern, and stylish. Would highly recommend. 10/10 for the name, too 😎

Sandwiches were pretty good tried halloumi. I asked for a long black it wasn’t what I expected. Overall a good place for a quick bite. Outside sitting area a bit small but nice.

Food and drinks are absolutely Delicious !

Absolutely disgusting! I have been having nausea ever since I ate a tuna-cheese sandwich. It was supposed to be tuna mayo and I realized it was melted cheese. This combination is absolutely rediculous since it can actually cause stomach sickness! Atrocity!

Great cafe, great cakes, great staff. Ticks all the important boxes. Recommendations would be the chocolate brownie type cake, sugaryest thing I've ever tasted 10/10.

Service was terrible today, as always, on a Saturday morning the place was very busy. Yet one of the four staff member occupied a table space for her break, and customers had now where to eat/drink. They’ve got these fancy Tea pots which staff don’t understand. Two much tea was used and it was over filled and so when it drains into the cup, it caused a flood. No apologies, implications were it was our fault. Tea ended up being over brewed as well. Get a grip people! Grilled cheeses here are ace. Hence two stars.

One of the best coffees I've had in Brighton, the cappuccino had the perfect amount of froth. Very limited indoor seating but a nice modern and light interior.

I used to come here pre covid19. Staff were so polite and kind. Now, they’re so rude and argumentative, and not willing to make for you what you want. Very disappointed with this attitude.

It’s a nice breakfast place. The food was good and ambience is very nice.

Went to this lovely cafe to get a few hours of work done. Great free wifi! The staff were really sweet, and the chai latte I had was one of the best I’ve had! A pot of tea was around £2.50 which is a lot cheaper than other places. The chai latte was a standard £3.00 or so. Definitely will be coming back, great cafe to sit outside and people watch or get some work done.

Friendly. Very large toasties. Had the reuben- only complaint was there was only a single slice of pastrami which couldn't cover all the sandwich. Sausages were also very coarse.

Best breakfast bap I've had in a while! :) And they open at 7:30 so you can actually have breakfast before everything opens up and gets busy. The coffee is very good but a bit on the small side for my liking.

If you’re looking to grab a quick bite to eat and want something that’s tasty, freshly made and filling, Bread and Milk is the place to go. They make fresh sandwiches and toasties that are satisfying and a great bite to eat. They do a really nice iced coffee too. They were doing a fancy Nutella filled croissant when I last visited which was filled with the perfect amount of Nutella among the many layers of pastry! It was… incredibly delicious!

THE ABSOLUTELY BEST COFFEE IN BRIGHTON. Their cappuccino’s froth is the same you get in Italy, their shop is lovely and chill and the staff js super friendly!! The quality for the price is really good too. N’1 coffee recommendation in Brighton for sure - also their almond croissant is to die for.

Great place - breakfast and lunch menu is superb and the lunchtime melts are especially recommended. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a good mix of inside and outside seating. Well worth a visit.

Came here on Sunday and had a really nice vegan sausage toasted sandwich. The smoothie I had was lovely, however it was very overpriced. Either way, I enjoyed my food and drink, and would definitely recommend.

Great gourmet food, good service, although the place gets very busy and can't fit a lot of customers. Have to book in advance to get a table otherwise it's very hard to get one.

We sat outside in the sunshine and ate fantastic sandwiches. I think they were called 'Reuben' good value for money.

Delicious vegetarian toastie and chai latte

One of the best coffee shops in Brighton, the food is delicious especially the Danish 😍, friendly stuff, and great atmosphere.

I’ll start by saying this is the best coffee shop in Brighton. Incredible coffee. Friendly staff and great selection of foods. Atmosphere is perfection. After the Xmas break I returned for a takeaway morning coffee and breakfast bap to-go (worth almost £9 for the quality) But for the first time the food was terrible. I think the far left grill wasn’t working correctly. When I took a bite… half warm, half was stone cold. The tomato made everything soggy and mushy. All the meats were different temps. Had to throw it away. They were closed when I went back in the afternoon to tell them unfortunately. I’m 99% sure it was just a one off. I’ll Just double check the temp of the food before i leave the cafe in future. I would recommend. All drinks. Most of the food. Go try for yourself. Mistakes happen. When the venue is this good then I’ll continue my business with them. 5 stars ( well. Maybe 4.5 out of 5)

Our fave place in Brighton for breakfast and coffee. We have had the much carbier options and when we are healthy we had the yoghurt Granola bowl. Staff lovely and friendly. Food menu concise and tasty, lovely atmosphere on the corner with a nice bit of sun when the weather's nice. Watch our for seagulls though they can be cheeky but just increases the experience if you ask me. Fab times!!

We liked it here, it felt cosy and friendly and yet quite modern and stylish - not the usual and overdoen rustic decor - it made a fresh change. Also locals were wandering in chatting to the staff which made for a nice atmosphere. Especially good was that they had vegan croissants, cakes and sausage rolls and nice coffee.

Catching up for a coffee with a friend? This is the place. Wouldn't recommend for parties over 4 people as the tables are made for small and intimate sits. Well lit and airy despite its small square footage. Seating available outside but mind the gulls, they know the sarnies served here is 🔥. Perfect spot for a light Sunday brunch.

The tastiest toasted bap ever! I had the halloumi with chilli jam and it was incredible. My friend lived the vegan falafel toastie too.

Worst service I have ever come across in Brighton. Can't comment on the food, didn't even get any, walked out after the rude woman behind the counter was so complacent, disinterested and unhelpful. I only wanted a drink and a sandwich, you would have thought I'd asked for gold dust! She lost a customer and many more I'd imagine. I will not be going again. There are plenty of other great places around that area with very friendly warm and helpful customer service. Perhaps some staff training on attitude is an option.

Probably the worst toastie i have had in my life. Break was heavy and soggy. Not toasted no crunch at all. Completely flavourless. Tasted like cardboard

We tried a lot of coffee shops during our 5 days in Brighton and this one topped the lot. The fruity danish, sausage roll, brownie and coffee were all delicious. We were gutted we found it on our last day! Would highly recommend

Really nice cosy place. We enjoyed a nice breakfast. I had the vegan sausage roll and my mom had the meat version, some earl grey tea and a matcha latte. Friendly service and great atmosphere for breakfast.

Stopped for lunch in this quirky little cafe. Outside seating in the sunshine. Had the best toasty I’ve ever eaten and the best freshly made melon smoothie. Lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return.

I live right by here and am lucky enough to have numerous excellent cafés nearby. This is possibly my favourite. Certainly my go to. The food selection range is pretty wide, catering for veggie and non veggie quite well the quality is good, tastes great and it's all good value (for Brighton).

Work in Brighton and used to go to any cafe. Since being shown Bread and Milk cafe, due to the amazing food selection and friendly team, it is a great place to go for your lunch.

So nice to find a coffee shop that is accepting keep cups. The coffee was made with a perfect "no touch" technique, so no infection risk whatsoever. And it was a lovely cappuccino, thank you! Keep it up.

Forgot why I stopped coming here oh thats right! £3.20 for a coffee with oat milk ?!?!?! it wasnt the best coffee.by a long stretch but yards away @cerealcafebrighton do way better tasting coffee.with oatly barista for £2 ! CafeSixteen it's £2.30 but sadly both are closed due to covid restrictions , please set a fare price! making my own from now on. There should be a 1 in 1 out policy as the doorway gets blocked by customers coming in behind you making social distancing impossible.
