All the other reviews about dreadful customer service sum up exactly how I feel. Great products but not worth the rude and disrespectful staff - with a few lovely exceptions. There’s better bakers on Cregagh rd and Donegall street without the attitude.

People visit Belfast for all sorts of different reasons: the geological curiosity of the Giants Causway; the magnificent Titanic Museum and surrounding area; a general interest in the history of the Troubles... the list goes on. Forget everything else and get yourself to Bread and Banjo bakery. This is a Holy place, where Saint Patrick himself may appear on a Saturday morning in anticipation of a seasonal offering, such as a miso caramel cupcake or a fresh 'everything' bagel. This place was so terrific during covid and their amazing gluten free bakes were a beacon of light during otherwise dull days. However, the quality of their offerings has deteriorated steadily in recent months - trainees I think - and the past few times I've been in one of the staff members was so rude to me I actually burst into tears when I left. Really unpleasant experience and I am so disappointed that there'll be no more high quality gluten free products as it really was an amazing spot to get treats before the extremely talented baker left.

I love coming here for pastries and coffee. The crossaints, bread, cookies are all amazing. I love being able to see the cooking area where everything is prepped! Staff are always really friendly. But get there early before the pastries are gone!!

First time trying the bakery. I asked for a vegetarian option and was directed to, what the assistant called a corgette pastry. I thought it would have then been light, with maybe a few other different vegetables. However , it is was so thick and eggy, with huge lumps of potatoes inside. I wasn't right until the next morning. Too heavy with ingredients that didn't compliment each other. However, staff were friendly and helpful

Terrible service unless you are already friends with the people working there. If you want to place orders, good luck, none of their details are correct and you will be redirected constantly from one place to another.

We hadn't been in Banjo for a couple of years and were surprised to see the changes- kitchen expanded hugely and seats gone. We were a little disappointed that we couldn't sit and eat all the delicious goods, but the wider range of stuff more than made up for it!! From the Oreo cookies to the range of vegan baguels to the date and walnut scones- such tasty, high quality baking. Coffee is great too, and there's two little stools if you do need to take a load off while you choose. Yummy

Nice bakery and I do frequent it every other day but my main gripe would be the demeanour of some of the staff which I find off-putting. A couple of the girls could benefit from trying to smile now and again, sometimes from the look on the (owners?) face it's a chore to have paying customers actually buying their products...

I really don't know what we did before Bread and Banjo opened! This seriously popular bakery has the best selection of breads, bagels, cakes and savoury items anywhere. Their Sourdough loaves are wonderful, and made every day on the (tiny) premises. Everything else is made in-house as well. There is a wide selection of rare and wonderful edible adventures - their savoury selection (their sausage and vegetarian rolls are so good) is perfect for a lunchtime treat, while there is a wide selection of sweet items available as well. One of the things I like best about Bread and Banjo is that you never know exactly what you're going to find - tasty baked creations from all over the world, brought to the Ormeau Road by the skilled bakers in the shop. There are several new things to try every week, whilst still providing the most popular breads and cakes. They regularly offer Gluten-free, Vegetarian and Vegan choices. They use a wide range of nuts on the premises, so sadly the bakery is not suitable for those who suffer from nut or seed allergies. You can also order custom-made Birthday and other occasion cakes which look utterly amazing.

After seeing the post on their Facebook page I went in to buy a loaf of Sourdough. I was one of about 4 people out buying their weekend papers early to be told it’s not ready until after 11. Then when I got the timing right, another day, I was rather surprised to find the price was £3.30. Don’t think I’ve ever paid that for a loaf before. When I tried it at home as soon as I got it home, I found the loaf was heavy and dense and extremely hard to eat. Part of the bread that was kept until the evening had to be thrown out. Completely inedible and nothing could be done to soften it. It just became even harder, wonder if the dough was proved properly?

I found this place recommended on TripAdvisor and wanted to give it a go. Alas there is no place to sit and eat anymore. There is a relatively small selection of products but we picked 6 to take away and sample. The Yum Yums and Peanut Butter Cups were our favourite and all 6 were extremely well made. The Bread and sausage rolls I haven't tried as yet so cannot comment on them. This place makes quality products at reasonable prices for what they are. I went to Belfast to try this place and will return.

Twice in the last month I have pre-ordered from this bakery on a Friday, paid upfront and been assured my order would be ready the next morning at the time I asked, have gone in and my order has not been there because they “forgot”. Not good enough. I suspect that ambition and greed has overtaken quality service and loyalty to community here. Yes the baked goods are delicious, that cannot be faulted, but I will not be going back based on these experiences. Don’t promise what you can’t deliver.

I have been going to Bread and Banjo for years now and their range of bread is amazing: I can’t recommend the challah enough! Their sausage rolls are the best in Belfast and an absolute treat in the morning after a long night shift! They have a unique range of sweet treats too, with my partner and I living for the Yum Yums on a Saturday morning.
