French Village Botanic in Belfast

Really enjoyed a slow Saturday morning breakfast here. The cinnamon swirl was delicious warm. We had the Veggie Fry and the French Fry. Coffee was good and smoothie was delicious. Slightly confused by the pancake, potato bread combination in the breakfast but individually all delicious!

Anytime I’m out for lunch I always get a Caesar salad and this is one of the nicest I’ve had and definitely great value for your money. I am so bored of food places charging you extra for chicken.This place doesn’t :) For £9 the salad was huge… there was so much I honestly couldn’t even finish it. I also love cheese and it was covered in parmesan which just made it super tasty! We also ordered the club sandwich which was super filling and delicious. There’s a lovely seating area outside, perfect for the sunny weather coming in :) However, there are a few steps leading to the front door so I would be wary of this if you suffer from mobility issues as it may not be totally suitable for you. I’d also like to add that the iced chai latte was super small…. Honestly about a third of what you get from Starbucks or any other coffee shop :( which is why I removed a star

I had high expectations for French Village Café Botanic, but unfortunately, today’s visit was a huge letdown. From the moment we arrived, the service was disorganised and frustrating. Despite queuing patiently for a table, the staff handed menus to people behind us in the queue first, which immediately set the tone for the poor service to come. Once seated, we placed our order and then waited… and waited. Over an hour passed before our food finally arrived, with no updates or apologies from the staff. For a café, this level of delay is simply unacceptable. This additionally goes for all French Village Cafés I have visited, they are simply so slow in the kitchen. When the food finally came, it was clear that style had been prioritised over substance. While the presentation was nice, the flavors and quality didn’t justify the hype—or the excruciating wait. Overall, the experience was frustrating and not worth it. If you value your time and good service, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. I simply believe French village is far too overrated.

Very nice food and service. Had the club sandwich with gluten free bread. Super fresh salad - perfect bacon - chicken a little dry.

The menu all sounded very tasty, it was actually quite hard to choose. The serving staff were all very friendly and efficient. You have to pay at the counter even if you're dining in so don't forget! The deli attached had some delicious looking baked goods and you can sandwiches and salads there without a queue. We had to queue to get in on a Thursday so it must be popular.

I have only really heard of the place due to the tray bakes. The place is small and the tables are a wee bit too close for comfort. I kept getting my chair knocked and got annoyed when trying to drink. Food is very good but price wise I wouldn't pay the money for it again. There is better food around Belfast that is cheaper . Nearly 15 pounds for a fry is just too much, a fry can't really be cooked good or bad. It is just meat and bread and some beans

My family and I were in the Botanic restaurant earlier this morning and unfortunately had to witness an interaction between a staff member and management. We found it rather uncomfortable & unprofessional that this ‘meeting’ was happening at a table across from us bare in mind the restaurant was packed and just found it strange that this happened on the shop floor and not out of sight from customers. Obviously we have no idea what the actual story was and it was absolutely none of our business but the fact we witnessed a young member of staff cry after being spoke to and overhearing parts of the conversation as we were in earshot was extremely unprofessional on the managements part! It was not nice to witness a young person be embarrassed like that! Especially from an established business!Aside from the service & food were both lovely😁 But just a wee thought to have conversations like that away from customers as it did impact our experience.

So I got a bit too excited and forgot to take a picture of my food, but atleast you get to see my empty plate. The main reason that it was empty is because it looked like a damn kids meal. The food was very good tho. The lads had their english breakfast which I shouldve picked as well to be honest.

One of best chocolates I ever had. Also I tried the Banoffee for first time. It was delicious 😋.

Disappointed with the chips being frozen and for 7 pound. 19 pound is too expensive for a sandwich and some frozen chips.

Unfortunately think the driver helped himself to our food, and what was delivered was freezing, I would really suggest putting stickers on the boxes to stop any tampering! Could see on the tracker the driver taking d-tours then sitting in forestside car park for 25 mins before delivering only one meal and the deserts. Not the fault of French Village at all - actually ordered last Sunday and it was amazing, the food was hot and the portion sizes good.

Food was excellent and great value but items missing though just eat refunded me ok. Will definitely use here again

Decided to come here for brunch during our stay in Belfast due to the menu having good vegetarian options, and it did not disappoint! We had the Turkish eggs, garlic butter chips, the pepper burger and the homemade lemonades and everything was amazing! Eggs were cooked perfectly and was truly delicious. The servers were fantastic too:)

Had a wonderful brunch here. Our server, Ben, was incredibly kind and efficient. I wasn't a big fan of my bacon and Brie burger, but my friends loved the Turkish eggs and Irish breakfast.

The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because our server was an absolutely amazing human being. Rarely do I ever leave bad reviews but I am just so disappointed. 3 of us ordered the soup of the day and nobody finished it. It was very very salty and just didn’t take like potato and leek soup at all.I am a soup fanatic and I’ve never tasted pot and leek soup so horrid ever! Our other guest ordered focaccia and received the chicken one rather than the vegetarian one which was a genuine mistake that our lovely server was more than apologetic dealing with the matter. I just had heard so many amazing reports about this place but unfortunately I left very disappointed. However once again thank you to the blonde shortish haired server with coloured streaks in her hair (sorry I can’t remember her name) but you rock and genuinely kept the atmosphere amazing so well done.

A beautiful place to grab breakfast! 🌅 I had the pleasure of being the first to try their French toast with strawberries and cream, and let me tell you—it was absolutely mind-blowing. 😍 The flavors were rich, the texture was perfect, and it’s easily one of the best breakfast dishes I’ve had in a long time. And don't even get me started on the *pain au chocolat*—it’s pure magic! ✨ I’ve never had one quite like this before. Every bite just melts in your mouth, soft and buttery with the perfect balance of chocolate. 🥐🍫 The loaded chicken fries are to die for. Also, whether it's sunny or cloudy I love sitting outside because when it's busy, the inside gets stuffy. The service was great, too. The waitress with the purple hair had such contagious energy—she really brightened the whole experience. 💜✨ Someone please give her a raise! There are just two small areas of improvement: the juice smoothies were a bit of a letdown, lacking flavor and tasting quite bland. 🥤 Also, when I asked for warm water, I didn’t get it until I went inside to remind them. They were waiting to bring it out with my order, but a bit of communication here would have been nice. Still, overall, it’s a fantastic place, and I’d definitely recommend stopping by for a delicious and memorable breakfast! 🍽️💕

Me and a group of friends came unknowingly near closing and we were still served coffee which was so sweet. In addition our waitress was so lovely and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely recommend it and I will probably be back again soon

I have been a good few times now and the food is always excellent, I would say even though the staff are pleasant enough some could probably do with a bit more training, seems a little chaotic at times. I have had to ask for my order to be taken, even after others who sat down after me have been served and waiting on simple things like a tea spoon and sugar for your tea for 5 mins after you've got your tea! Nothing that couldn't be sorted with some training and leadership on the floor. Other than that the prices are fair and the quality of the menu and the food is 100%

I have used French village before when I am in Belfast. It is popular and never fails to please.

The French toast is really nice. For me the compote was a little too sweet. The cappuccino is also very good!

Food was fine, three of us dined there and each plate was mostly made up of bread. Service was good if not a little forgetful although it was busy. Be prepared to wait for a seat. The tea isn't great, had to ask for extra teabags

A long wait for the food to arrive and when it did my poached eggs were hard boiled, the flatbread was so overdone I could barely cut it with a knife and the tea was so weak I had to ask for another teabag. Even the waitress admitted 'they aren't great teabags'

Tengo la tostada de aguacate y pudín negro extra, mi marido tiene una fritura y pudín negro extra. La comida era deliciosa, PERO el pudín negro fue cremado, podría haber sido encantador. Ambos tomamos té y honestamente podemos decir que fue el peor té que he tomado, ¡realmente fue como beber agua de vajilla! ¡Por favor, cambien sus bolsas de té! Sin duda volveríamos para darle una segunda oportunidad.

Stumbled on this place on sunday looking for breakfast before leaving belfast and so glad we did , was a small wait but was well worth it. The staff were so nice nd couldnt do enough from the minute we got there, Will deffinatly be back again 100%

First time eating here. Staff were lovely, place is lovely but the food was just OK. It was the hottest burger I've ever had in my life, hot in temperature, not spice. I would say for the price I expected a bit better and a bit more. It was just burger and chips, no coleslaw, side salad, or anything like that.

What a real treat for breakfast. Pancakes were great. The Avo Toast was on point and the Turkish eggs are simply delicious. All topped of with great coffee and very kind staff. Go there for a very good start of your day.

French Village is one of my favourite lunchtime spots. It never disappoints. The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is cosy.

when the food got to me it was completely cold!! over toasted so not as if could be reheated in anyway and i was unable to contact french village to complain and try to get the food resent warm!!! disgraceful

Only realised on the way out this establishment has a 3 star food rating and on reflection you can see why.

A small but well served bistro, which we stumbled across for breakfast. There are only around 35 seats in the small dining room but we were seated and served very quickly. By the time we left (around 1100 on a Sunday morning) there were people waiting for tables (which is a good sign I'm sure). I had the "French Fry" and my partner had the French toast with Berry compote. Both served very quickly and was hot. Food was delicious and I couldn't eat all of my French fry as there was loads (shock horror). Very cosmopolitan feel and atmosphere and would highly recommend!!

We got the breakfast bap and the buttermilk fried chicken on French toast. As an enthusiast for black pudding, its crisp and flavour hit the right spot for me. It also compliments the hashbrown, sausage and bacon on the breakfast bap. I thought the toast of the bread was just nice it adds a crunch to the dish. Next was the buttermilk fried chicken. The big and chunky chicken filled me up for the rest of the day. I'm glad I got the French Toast as it's a lil sweet with that thick french-toastie taste which I loved. To add on, what scored the points had been its texture - how it just melts in your mouth. The waiter who served us this morning had been really sweet and attentive. Didn't get his name but his service gave us a good impression about this store!

The peppered sauce was just thrown in upside down and went all over the box with the chips, all over my drink and leaked out of the bag onto my sofa, had to scrape the bottom of the bag for some sauce.. first and last time getting from here..

AVOID, we were sat at a table with an hour to go to close and after our main course the staff wouldn't serve tea or desert as it was too close time, 20mins still to go... Terribly Poor service and a very average over priced meal that was very salty. Won't be back, exceptionally over rated

Greasy food, poor service and inattentive staff.

Had avo and eggs on sourdough toast (gf option as well). Very tasty with a mix of garnishes including touch of hot sauce / chili's adding a mild kick. Eggs could have been a little bit softer to give a runny yoke. Coffee was good too, with oat milk available (if that your thing).

Came in for a late breakfast around 11am. We had the soup of the day an apple and leek that was very good. The soup tasted very fresh, bright and sweet. We had 2 butter croissants, we were hoping for almond but they sold out. The butter croissants were absolutely amazing! We would have loved to have tried the almond. One of us oregano the Turkish eggs and was extremely pleasantly surprised. They were different menu item then what we are used to seeing and tasted great. The flavors of the yogurt with the eggs and seasonings were different and absolutely a delicious combination. Someone else grabbed the open steak sandwich and was in love with the flavors of the sandwich. Three of us order a coffee of sorts, iced americano, cappuccino, and a latte with oat milk. The coffees were great and hit the spot! The other member of our party ordered a tea and that also hit the spot for them! We really enjoyed our brunch at the village cafe and bistro. What would have made this a 5 star experience was if our server was a bit friendlier and attentive. We had to ask for our check twice and waited a bit for her to be able to pay. The staff who brought our coffee and food over were helpful and attentive though.

Sat down to eat lunch and told staff that I had to take my child to the bathroom and we arnt finished food yet only got a few bites in and came back and the food was gone what a disgrace

Enjoyed a tasty Veggie Fry breakfast and was impressed with the quality of ingredients and portion size (the smashed avocado was delish). The girls working were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere perfect for afternoon brunch. Bonus: Got an entire carrot cake for 50% off on the way out - great deal!

Me and my friend just walked around wanted to find some place for a coffee and sit outside for a while. The guy who came to take our order was super nice, smiling, refreshingly friendly, so helpful in regards to our specific wishes :) so we got exactly what we wanted. It was only coffee, but it was excellent and we definitely come back for some meal.

Fry arrived cold. Eggs rubbery and over cooked. No bacon a in both breakfasts and a half pancake each and no extra items to make up for the missing items. £28 for two inedible fry’s and the quality of the products has seriously went down hill. We would have went to the cafe on Sundays for a fry regularly and one of the stand out items was the quality of the butcher standard bacon and sausages used. These have now been switched to the cheap deli sausages. Can’t comment on the bacon. Generally just disappointed

Fine for what it is. Very basic lunch spot if you’re in the area and can’t find anything else. Basic food that is overpriced and probably out of a packet. Had the chicken and chips.

Dined here previous day for breakfast and had the French toast which was amazing, and as was close to where we staying decided we go again next day as said was open at 8.30am which suited us as travelling but when got to store and walked in the unlocked door were told they don't open until 9am. Advertised hours don't appear to be correct. A shame as was looking forward to the vegan stack.

Food was lovely but would appreciate a bit more variety with their vegetarian options. Staff were all fabulous!

Nipped in late morning for quick snack. Shared club sandwich which was very tasty and ample. Staff were so friendly and were there when you wanted something but not making you feel like it was time to move on. Busy place but would recommend.

You placed the caramel Square on top of the hot food item which meant it was melted everywhere on arrival and left it on edible

Ordered French toast the French toast wasn’t great the bacon was so fatty the best part was the blueberry compote.

This is a godsend in a food wasteland haha Ireland is not known for its great food but this is a hidden gem - Staff lovely food really good …a little taste of home ! It’s a busy place so grab a table - you can even make your own sandwich choosing whatever you feel like ! Really good food and great staff in a pretty location - worth a visit !

Cold. The delivery driver couldn’t find the correct house. Was on the wrong street and tried a number of different addresses.

Eaten twice here in the past week. Lisburn Road ordered French toast and was served stale dry bread with absolutely no egg soaked through it. For 8.50 not acceptable 😔

incredibly delicious breakfast, despite the full room we received the order in about 10 minutes, and the coffee after a while after ordering. The portion is really big. If you are looking for a place where you can eat a really delicious breakfast, we recommend it wholeheartedly ❤️

Excellent service and experience

Delivery time got changed 4 times and once my food arrived the driver rang me to come outside and take my order of him from his car!

Place has changed alot - used to have an extensive menu and everything seemed to be homemade. Now the chicken goujons seem like they are from out of a bag and the menu has shrunk but prices inflated. Sad to see such an icon place do that after years and years of catering to the surrounding student community so well.

Was ordering cupcake gift for a friend living in Belfast. I had to phone the bakery to help with my order since online has a payment limit. Shannon who I spoke with with was absolutely superb and helped place my order for delivery to my friend. I live in Dublin, so could not arrange collection of the cupcake gift. Really appreciate all the time she spent on the phone to me and advising with the order. Customer service was excellent. Thank you Shannon!
