Our experience at Brasserie of Light was overshadowed by an unpleasant start. Upon arriving on time for our reservation, we were informed that our table was not ready and were asked to wait by the bar. However, when we approached the bar to order drinks, the barman rudely told us he could not serve us and to stand away, delivering his message with a disturbingly smug attitude. His was appalling with a clear contempt towards customers. Brasserie of Light, you managed to make your guests feel as welcome as a hedgehog in a balloon factory. While the meal itself was good, the initial unpleasant encounter with the barman cast an unpleasant shadow over the evening. And not one single apology. I guess they are popular enough not to care.

Very impressive as you walk in from separate entrance along the eastern side of Selfridges. You get out of the lift and the first thing you notice is the noise of the music coming from the restaurant. This gets worse as you approach the doors and reception desk. During our meal the music was just about bearable, but would stop me from returning for a second visit. The fit out is great, very blingey, but its supposed to be all a bit over the top. Service is a little too efficient, we felt like we were being rushed through our meal and twice had to stop waiting staff removing glasses/plates etc before we had finished. Presumably all about reselling the table...annoying. Food was very good and nicely presented.

A fabulous meal yesterday late afternoon before visiting the theatre. Myself and my mum both loved the food, all served hot and tasted fresh and delicious. Staff were so polite, helpful and attentive. A great choice of cocktails and food. Gorgeous surroundings too. It was a belated birthday meal/gift for my mum and after paying I commended the manager on his team and food. I mentioned we were on the way to the theatre for my mums birthday treat (she was visiting the bathroom at the time), on her return she was presented with a lovely gesture of a birthday desert and some bubbles for us both. It was such a kind and unexpected thing which we both really appreciated.

I’ve been before but not for years. It’s a glamorous cheery place with music and a good vibe. The menu is good and the food tasted good. But the service! Missed order, late orders, wrong orders. Chasing for wine to be topped up. Felt a bit chaotic in an early Saturday evening. Not sure I’d recommend on the basis of this experience

It was my daughter's birthday yesterday and we booked a table for 5 people during lunchtime - with a note saying it was my daughter's birthday. I got to the restaurant early and I asked the lady at the reception to keep the cake that I had just brought from Lola's and add the candle to it at the end of the meal. She said we were not allowed to eat it and I said ok but can you bring it out anyway. She barely nodded at me and I said to her again would you be so kind as to bring the cake to us at the end of the meal with the candle lit. She reluctantly looked at me and said yes. We sat down and ordered and the lady that served us couldn't even break a smile, she was so miserable, no happy birthday or friendless whatsoever. When my daughter went to the toilet at the end of the meal. I asked the waitress politely if she could bring out the cake and explained that the candle was stuck on the top of the box, she said yes. So she brings out the cake in the box with the candle still stuck on. I was so annoyed as I asked 3x for the candle to be put in and asked them if they had ever done this before. The Manager (I think he was French) came up and apologised and organised plates for us to eat the cake and also asked me to sign a waiver form for the cake. He deducted the drinks off the bill which was nice, but still it was frustrating and I think the lack of English from the staff was poor too. It was probably the most unfriendly staff I have ever come across. Do not go here to celebrate a birthday but the food was good (small portions) and the mocktails were nice.

Best to try it out before getting all lit up about it! The beautiful lighting and mirror surrounds certainly make it worth a visit! Got greeted by girls in trim pink uniforms and got the receipt in lovely pink card! Had delicious Malaysian Prawn Curry with tasty, innovative Butterfly Flutter as dessert! Nice to try somewhere different!

Despite seeing this place being mentioned on various social media platforms I am sadden by the experience I’ve had. I attended the restaurant at 12:40pm 5/4/24 and was not welcomed politely by the doorman who was extremely passive aggressive. When talking pictures and trying to sort my things (I am not from London) he started shouting and asking questions in a very uncomfortable way. I immediately felt picked upon and ruined the experience. After reporting my shocking experience at the door to the manager (who only gave us a free drink), the food was nice however I was still shocked from the disgraceful behaviour I experienced. The doorman proceeded to follow me around the restaurant and repeatedly telling me what I can/cannot do even though many times I had been doing what every other guest was. Very disappointed and felt racially discriminated against.

Had a lovely lunch at the bar. Even though it was busy I got my lunch quick. The ravioli was really delicious and went well with my wine. This is my go to after work for a treat and they looked after me very well.

Booked a table. Staff on entry were very polite and although we had to wait past our allocated time, they were very accommodating when we wanted to change tables. We had the chicken Milanese which was really good. We both had the apple tart for dessert which was gorgeous. Staff kept checking on us and were really friendly. We were not rushed and had a lovely time. It is pricy but the service met expectations for the price. Cannot wait to return.

Booked for a friends Birthday , food was good service was fantastic , Erica was so good making sure we had everything we wanted/needed as was another male member of staff but I didn’t get his name . Mainly our friend had a great birthday meal .

We enjoyed cocktails in the Brasseries of Light, we had not booked but the team here were so welcoming and helpful and managed to fit us in for one of their wonderful cocktails. We have eaten here in the past and can also recommend the meals here - breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Believe some guests were enjoying a champagne afternoon tea which also looked good!

Went with my family for my wife's birthday. Superb destination - setting is lovely and the food is just as good. A really interesting menu and the prices were not too bad given the quality of the food. Well worth a visit for a special occasion

I love going to the Brassiere of Light, Selfridges, I have visited with my family for birthdays, Mother's Day etc. You can go through the Selfridges’ store to get there, however, I love going through the main entrance of the restaurant on the ground floor on Duke Street a few metres away from Oxford Street. You are always greeted by a friendly and helpful Doorman, walk into a beautiful small lobby and go up via the lift into another stunning lobby that leads into the restaurant's entrance. It is better to book, however, they do seem to get some walk-ins that they are able to sit. We have always booked to ensure a seat. I always go for their breakfasts, so I cannot comment on their lunches and dinners. There are foods to suit all palates, which is beautifully presented. I would have given 5 stars however, on my last visit - the service was disappointing. I received my tea when my breakfast was virtually finished and my family member received a breakfast she did not order, which was promptly rectified and other things that detracted from the overall experience. Usually, the staff go out of their way to ensure you have an exceptional experience. Hopefully, this was a one-off. If you have never been, it is worth a visit. You will love the decor and ambience.

What an incredible place. I initially came here in early December last year with two friends, we were shopping and wanted to find somewhere to have a quick drink. We went in and spoke to a lady who told us that the bar was full so if we wanted to come in we’d have to eat- we all decided we were quite hungry and got put on an amazing table right at the centre of the restaurant by the large windows. We had nice drinks and then ordered some mains, including the duck, steak and fish goujons- all incredibly nice. The atmosphere was great and I enjoyed it so much that on New Year’s day I took my girlfriend back up to London so we could visit it. We made a b-line for it when we got in Selfridges and again was seated to a table very quickly but in a different spot this time- although equally as nice. We did ask to move to get a seat closer to the window and this wasn’t a problem at all. Again we had nice drinks and some amazing mains- however we did have desserts this time and all I can say is that they were fantastic! I had an exotic fruit platter which had amazing fruits that I hadn’t even seen before and I thought that as a whole it was really well priced. Our server on the second time could not be more helpful but also had a sense of humour too which was great! I would definitely recommend to anyone who asks and I will be going back soon.

Average at best. Overrated. Coat check lost a very sentimental item. The response was absolutely terrible. My response was not stellar however calling security was extreme

We normally always head to Alto on Selfridges roof but wanted to try Brasserie of Light. We were three friends on Saturday who meet every few months for a nice, relaxed lunch. This was far from it. The staff were rude, we had to keep asking for our wine as we were sat with empty glasses. We only had time to share some starters before we were told our time was running out (1 hr 10 mins we had been there) and then were told another two times we had to leave as they needed the table and everyone gets 90 mins. If you wanted a three course lunch you would not have time! We managed two bottles of wine and some starters and had no time for any other food! Such a shame as we thought it would be good but far from it-don't waste your time or money when there's much nicer places within minutes of this venue!

We wanted a Nice, Classy Place with a View for My Daughters 16th Birthday Photo Shoot and was Rewarded with a More than Excellent Service, a Table with a Awesome View and a Birthday to Remember Especially for My Daughter. On our Next Visit, We'll Sample the Food. I Cannot Praise the Staff and the Establishment Enough

My family and I went to the Brasserie Saturday evening and once again had a great meal, the service was amazing and the food matched it. We had the oysters to start and I had the sea bass fillet for main I highly recommend this place
