Great place to go for a couple of drinks before the races

Had afternoon tea, food ok but no facilities to bring home what you don't eat and it's to expensive to waste at £26pp. Staff very clumsy, knocked over milk and was going to walk away from cleaning it up and did not bring any more. They eggnored any contact once the food was served for drinks refill.

Plentiful afternoon tea in elegant surroundings. Great views! Asked as soon as we arrived if we'd like still or sparkling water (money spinner). Opted for Tap water. Lovely sandwiches and cakes. The scones were disappointing, overcooked and too hard-replaced on asking with fresh. £43 for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Pleasant, efficient staff.

The restaurant is on the 5th floor of the building over looking Chester race course. Amazing service and food. Very friendly and professional staff. Good price and superb location

High expectations. Let down. Family Christmas meal was really poor in the end. Poor greeting from the staff. Service was confused and poor. Slow to do anything, no knowledge of the menu, no knowledge of our pre booked booking and what was included. Drinks were poor. Food was average. Wouldn’t recommend, and you pay a pretty penny to top it all off..

Stayed at abode for two nights Danny in the bar and restaurant was absolutely. Give this man a pay rise he goes above and beyond for all customers he is amazing and so are the drinks and views 😍

This is the 3rd and final time I have visited this place. As someone that lives in Chester and goes out for drinks and food often, this is by far the worst bar and restaurant. The only good thing is the view. Don't waist your time or money.

The only reason I gave it 2 star is because of the view and their wine collection and their service, otherwise the food was awful. Tried their 30 days aged rib eye steak, for that price I would expect a better quality meat.The pepper corn sauce was not spicy at all, it was rather sweet and tasted horrible. To be honest you are better off going to town for a better quality food.

very disappointing breakfast very underwhelmed with the quality of the breakfast at the abode I appreciate the hospitality industry is struggling at the moment but the service was slow and the cooked breakfast was in our opinion poor my husbands poached egg was broken hash was greasy bacon and tomato were both burnt overall it was poor

Always a fantastic atmosphere and service here. The staff really go the extra mile and are clearly passionate about what they do. The food and drinks are both amazing. I cannot recommend it here enough.

Decent spread in the menu but quite overpriced considering the quality. The soup came and was lukewarm at first and just not overly tasty. Good ambience though.

Gordale Garden Centre held their 70th Anniversary at the restaurant. 110 staff, family and friends were looked after admirably by the Abode staff. The food was delicious, served promptly and hot and we all had a fantastic time. Can recommend.

Lovely place but service was very slow.

Expensive, and not quite up to the standard the price would suggest. A rib eye steak that was £24 was small, thin and dry. Pressed hock starter was good, as was the white crab meat starter. Lemon sole was good, steak was very disappointing, ice cream puddings were, well, ice cream. With one cocktail, that came to £96.00! For that money in Chester you can get a much higher standard of food, or conversely, for the standard of food we received you can get that much cheaper elsewhere. You can probably tell I wasn't bowled over.

We went for the five course tasting menu with a glass of wine chosen for each course and it was excellent. The kitchen turned out some exceptional dishes and the front of house staff were all brilliant. Highly recommended.
