Brambles Restaurant in Braintree

Went in for breakfast with my son and his wife on the 17th of January this year we ordered three breakfasts with toast two teas and one soft drink Came to over £47 Food was average Which is a shame when my wife was alive we used to go regularly to this cafe food was Always lovely and reasonably priced suffice to say, we won’t be returning

Popped in to have something for lunch. There was a list of food on the wall but when it came to choosing, there was only what they had on the counter that day. Not a great choice. We went for chicken, mashed potato and peas. It was the worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant. Watery awful mashed potato, chicken not very nice and watery gravy. We had two cups of tea with it. But at £30 for that is unbelievable.

Terrible" apart from the nice staff don't bother two scones which where both dry and a cup of tea and a Pepsi which doesn't come with ice ? If I could give zero stars I would and very expensive this come to over a tenner you could go to wheatherspoons and get a full english breakfast and free refill of coffee for £8

Food remarkably average, older colleague very unhelpful, young waitress was good. 6 staff stood around not doing much, like going back to the 80s

Very bad experience apart from the staff this place is very poor and very expensive. £16.00 for a breakfast and a hot drink !! Added to that pod arrived cold, all in all was a very bad experience and will not return.

Was charged £12 for a small piece of Quiche and a small side salad. Extortionate My grandson had a small chicken leg with chips £12. Will not be going bk Very unhappy 🙁

4 out of 5 of the meals on our table were cold, served on cold plates. Food was advertised to be freshly made, however from the taste of the food, it was far below par of what you would find in a school cafeteria. Some food came out piping hot as if it had been microwaved. The food was bland overall, pastry was soggy and undercooked, and uneven throughout. The best part about my meal was the overpriced crisps. The decor and overall atmosphere of the place is dreadful, the feeling can only be described like a retirement home. For the price payed, it's definitely a huge disappointment, I recommend taking your money elsewhere.

Excellent selection of English favourite dinner options that are all delicious. Highly recommended.

Had a roast dinner it wasn't nice very expensive with two teas £28

A very good dinner here if one likes home cooking food. Always a good welcome from all the staff. It generally is quite quick.

Visited this morning for some toast and coffee. Service was pleasant enough but when I asked for another little butter as what I had been given was just enough for one slice, I was told there would be an extra charge ! So for the sake of about 10p they have lost a customer that has been going there for 3 years. I left and went to a high street chain coffee shop instead. I will not be returning.

Went for lunch again at about 12.15 , the food looked great so had Steak and Kidney pie, what a huge disappointment. Luke warm pie with very little meat, plenty of carrots though plus a few sad chips and gravy 2 lunches and 2 teas £25, It’s a pity the ladies are very pleasant and helpful but the lunch was a disaster. FYI had the same issue 3 weeks ago but the pie was a little better then Sorry no more chance’s for that price we can find a pub

We usually go in to meet friends on a Saturday morning, the food is excellent and hot, the staff very friendly and helpful, never had cause to complain

The food here are proper meals and decent prices. Great for families and a nice place for the grandparents to take the grandkids to eat out. Breakfast isn't great though. Not much breakfast on the plate and just average really. Other than that pure lovely. Good drink options as well. The food here is just lovely!

Have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. The food is freshly cooked and there is a good variety to choose from. The portions are extremely generous and always hot. I would recommend their steak pie.

Popped into Brambles while shopping in the department store and was very pleasantly surprised. At first glance you think this is a coffee and sandwich type eatery but it offers so much more, with at least half a dozen freshly cooked hot dishes. We had the liver casserole and pork chop roast dinner. Both were very well cooked and delicious. Portions were generous. The staff were lovely - very friendly and efficient. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely return when we are next in Braintree.

£5 For these two plates of "chips" some under cooked didn't taste great kids didn't even want to eat them!!!! Poor quality waste of money!!!!!

Great choice of food/drinks. Hot dinners to sandwiches to cakes and scones. Value for money. Relaxed atmosphere and excellent service.

Really wanted to like this restaurant, food disappointing, warm and tasteless. When speaking to someone about it was told ‘ nobody else had complained ‘ Left the meal, expensive drink with no food !

Brambles is a lovely restaurant, the food is good, a good variety and the staff are excellent, I highly recommend it.

Proper, honest, traditional home cooked food. I've lived in the Braintree area for over 30 years and have only just discovered Brambles Restaurant. At first glance you'd think it was just somewhere to get a cup of tea and a snack but look closer and you'll see a wide variety of freshly prepared, traditional dishes. Its simple stuff done very well (which is increasingly hard to find these days). Very good value too. Highly recommended!

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the Co-Op department store within the George Yard complex this is a great place for a quiet refreshment away from the masses that will frequent the usual suspects in the town centre. The fare is as you would expect - tea & cakes etc with the off-site prepared meals that has become the norm in cheap eats these days. Service is good and prices are low.
