Braintree Garden Centre in Braintree

I visit this store frequently as I live in the area and have always had a good experience for many years but last evening, 28th, I bought a few jellycat purchases for family that were Christmas presents and got outed by the shop assistant as I approached the till with them…..oh here she comes with her expensive teddies…..I laughed it off at first….and said they were gifts for my niece who collects them…..then the lady was laughing and discussing my purchases loudly with her colleague…..”oh only a small gift” I actually found it extremely rude……and actually none of her business what I was purchasing……I was polite but furious as I left the store…..who are you to criticise me for spending money in your shop? Would you speak loudly like that about someone who had bought a load of plants?? I was disgusted and really annoyed!! Not the stores fault but her and her colleague should learn some manners! It’s put me off coming back!! I was in there at around 3-4pm……learn some respect! Not impressed…..!

We visited here many years ago when it was Wyevale and were passing by and it was lunch time so popped in. Clean tidy and like the way of ordering at counter with everything then served to table. Had the Brie and Bacon Ciabatta x 2 plus side portion of chips. Good quality but perhaps the portion of chips was a little small for the price. Ciabattas were excellent and nice side salad.

We visited for the pre-booked Xmas lunch. Great room, festive decorations and table. Very nice staff, thoughtful and helpful. Great roast beef and super vegetables. The only criticism most of the roast potatoes over baked so too hard for our group. Delightful dessert. We will come again. Thank you

Terribly overpriced for what we got. Ordered scampi & chips. Got 5 scampi & I wouldn’t even say a handful of chips. Cost £11.50 each totalled nearly £30. Could have gone in the pub next door for the same money & had a decent meal. Will never return for a meal.

Nice quick service, all of the food was correct and warm when it arrived, the waiters aren’t in your face but are happy to help whenever

Extremely friendly helpful staff! Called and asked them to hold a plant behind the till for me and they happily did! Many thanks to the staff that helped!

Great food nice to have area for customers with dogs friendly staff and lovely garden centre nice for lunch or coffee and cake, tables available and cleared quickly to allow others to be seated .

Had lunch with a friend and had a small dog with us. Really welcoming with dog friendly area as part of the main restaurant. Lovely lunch and excellent service. SO much better than the Stanway branch I visited 2 days ago where we had to sit in the freezing extension because of my 4 legged friend. Have also had excellent carvery here on a Wednesday. Well done!

The Sunday Carvery is absolutely amazing and great value too. Was extremely busy, but service was great, you get decent slices of meat (not the wafer thin slices that others give you!) and so many vegetables to choose from. Highly recommend

Have visited this garden Center on numerous occasions and have enjoyed the meals in the restaurant. The menu is good and varied on certain days they have a carvery, we haven’t had that but it did look very nice. An excellent thing about this restaurant is that they have a separate area for visitors who like to take their dogs with them, if someone is not keen on dogs it means they have a separate area away from them. The food is very good and reasonably priced and freshly cooked, the staff are friendly and polite. The garden centre itself has a great selection of plants and gardening items, a lovely place to wander around. The Christmas section is just being sorted and looks very festive already.
