Brackley Central Cafe in South Northamptonshire

We were looking forward to coffee here. But despite the cafe being advertised as open on Mondays, it was very shuttered up and very closed. Shame that the website didn’t mention that, as we were disappointed. Perfectly understandable in the current economic climate, but we would have preferred to know in advance.

Friendly staff, quick service, tasty lunch, and so much better than options on the A43. Plus, it's all in the setting of the old Great Central Station booking hall. Well worth a detour

Visited for the first time yesterday- slightly hesitant to go initially because I had seen some negative reviews regarding hygiene & issues with long waits, however we had absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Staff were attentive and friendly, drinks came out within a few minutes, everything was clean & tidy. Would definitely return!

Popped in mid morning for a drink and snack. The service was not the best, the two members of staff appeared totally disinterested. we ordered two drinks, a pastry and a granola slice. We were asked to take a seat. It was not busy, but the tables that had been used were in need of clearing and removing the used cups etc. We had almost finished our drinks and had to remind the staff we were still waiting for the food. If it had been busy I could have accepted the lack of service.

Just wanted quick lunch and cuppa and found this gem in google maps. Just off A43, old station building, lots of tables in and out, my partner good meaty pasty and I had cheese filled croissant. Both young members of staff. Couldn’t be more friendly, attentive and chatty. Reasonable prices, definitely recommend

I was one of 20 cyclists that visited the cafe on Wednesday 22nd June. We had phoned ahead to pre-warn the establishment with our approx arrival time & numbers. Our 3 groups arrived at 5 min intervals to find the cafe single-handedly manned by one member of staff. The queue obviously increased however this amazing young man created amazing coffees, served cakes & warmed pastries. He was extremely polite, welcoming, apologetic and professional. He efficiently worked his way through the queue without becoming stressed & it was great to watch his multi-tasking skills whilst meeting everyone’s individual needs & requirements. I hope his bosses appreciate him, just wish I could remember his name. Thankyou young man, Rugby 2 Wheelers

Needed a coffee stop on the A43, so dropped in to Brackley. So glad I did, as this is a great place. The character of an old railway station, good coffee and pastries and quick friendly service.

I was in the area doing some photography work on the Great Central Railway for a book I am involved with, however, having read some awful reviews on this establishment I approached it with a degree of trepidation. It does make me wonder some times if the negative reviewers have been to the same place as I, because in this case I found it to be an excellent place to eat. It was very clean, the young man serving me was extremely polite and efficient, and the toilets were pristine. The coffee and caramel shortbread met my expectations completely. If I am in the area again I shall definitely return.

A lovely cafe but the slice of cake I ordered was stale. I also noticed they didn't revocer the cake cover after they took my slice...which might be reason for it being stale!

Very expensive for small portions of food. We had an anemic sausage roll with hardly any sausage and the customer service was not friendly. Toilet absolutely disgusting!! With covid about there was one towel to share yuk!! Floor was filthy and the bin was overflowing. Definitely would not be returning.

Great setting but prices way way too high. No mention of prices being increased so hugely especially when they OFTEN do not have semi skimmed milk!!!!!

I have been many times -sometimes they have no skimmed milk sometimes no semi skimmed and once no coffee! despite Sainsburys over road. Situation convenient and staff nice ( should blow noses out of sight) but over £3 for coffee no way worth that. All tables dirty. i got my own serviette and put on hand gel and cleaned crumbs and stuff off table. but other tables were in similar state. Coffee was hot and good.

A nice cafe next to the dog groomers in Brackley. Visited for coffee and cake while I was waiting for my puppy to get a groom. Good location to have a sit down and take a break.

This could be a really nice cafe. BUT there are uncovered cakes on the glass cabinet within breathing/coughing distance of queueing customers - really? So wrong in normal times, let alone at the moment. Being short staffed isn't an excuse for grubby, uncleared tables and bits of dropped food, cupholders and napkins all over the floor, especially when one of the staff there is on her phone in between slowly making coffees. Why not pick up dirty cups etc from tables on your way back to the kitchen after delivering food to other tables? Delivered boxes on the floor by the exit (fire exit?) and cluttered around the counter - dangerous, unhygienic and not that nice to look at. With a few quick and easy fixes you'd get much better reviews.

Been going in here since it opened but oh dear today’s visit will probably be the last. We know places are struggling for staff due to COVID but this is ridiculous. Appears to have young untrained staff. After sitting down at a dirty table when we thought they were meant to be clean at the moment we asked for it to be cleaned before our order arrived. Food particles were picked off one at a time by hand and then a very wet cloth used to wipe the surface of which we had to go get serviettes to dry it. Oh not to mention the dirty serviette that was left on the table. Ten fifteen minutes later we had two cold cups of tea arrive and one scolding hot coffee. Don’t believe in spending good money on an experience like this.

Happily, there are many cafes springing up in the Brackley area and competition should raise standards. Unhappily, Brackley Central do not recognise this with dry and stale cakes on offer - coffee good but you can't have one without the other.

We decided to try out the breakfast here. It was delicious...very good value at £7.50. It included two eggs, bacon, black pudding, tomato, sausage, baked beans, hash brown and mushroom, with toast and butter as well. Coffee is always good too.

Excellent service and food. Dog and baby friendly. I wish it was nearer to me. The pain au raisin was every bit as good as in France. Definitely worth a visit.

Brackley Central is a great place for coffee. The bacon rolls are just the best ever, and they have a very good range of cakes and tray bakes including gluten free. The atmosphere is friendly, there is plenty of free parking. Highly recommend it.
