The worst bouncers I have ever come across in all my years of drinking and i will avoid the establishment forever because of them. I had valid government ID and it came up on their system as a yes but they put me on pubwatch and stopped me going places because it was too much effort for them

Part of the Otley run, student, and fancy dress bar. As it's set over 2 floors, there's more room than looks from the outside. Service is quick. Expect a queue, and I.d check when going in.

I went to BOX for a lunch with my colleagues and found it as a very pleasant atmosphere and environment. It was clean and the staff were very pleasant. I was first worried because we have a set lunch time and the cricket was on in Headingly, but I was reassured by the staff before we ordered that we would get our lunch at a reasonable time and be in time to get back for a meeting at work. The food was beautiful, the whole site was clean including the loos. I would 100% recommend it to my friends!

Barmaid (didn't catch her name but had medium length brown hair on top floor 10/7/24) was incredibly friendly and accommodating, couldn't fault her service and she made my night! However there was a specific bouncer who was particularly horrible, and elbowed my partner in the chest as he walked past and generally made the whole place feel incredibly uncomfortable:( Also I saw a girl sweeping, who accidentally got a piece of toilet paper on someone's leg be incredibly rude to the person she did it to unfortunately. Wish I could come back without the negativity 👎👎

Decent atmosphere, right on the Otley Run so there are plenty of characters coming in. Staff very friendly and helpful. Spent all day in there would definitely go again.

Clarke was absolutely amazing! He recommended us a drink and made it infront of us. He honestly made the best p*rn star martini I have ever had. He absolutely made our night and organised our pool table for us aswell. He is a credit to this place.

A wonderful venue for elevated beer gardens. Drinking in the clouds. Ground & first floor bars. First & second floor beer gardens. Modern student & visitors complex.

Food was great better than expected. Good friendly service. Atmosphere not too my liking but great for the young people there.

So they use the dash sign as 2 things. Student discount is sun-fri which is fine. 50% off food is mon-thurs but that means Monday and Thursday was told they reserved the right to cancel any of there deals.

Standards have slipped since I worked here. Booked a table for food for my birthday at midday. Stiff waiting outside in the freezing cold and no one unlocked the front doors. Waited almost 15 mins but went elsewhere instead. Can’t comment on food as didn’t get the chance. Very disappointing

VILE BOUNCER. I came to the box a couple weeks ago (2.12.23) and am appalled at the way the bouncer treated me. I came with a group of friends during the Otley run and after queuing for about 15mins I gave the bouncer my ID and he pointed down the road and said “if you walk down this road, there is another entrance to the bar at the end which you need to go in from.” There was no other entrance, I went back and asked him why he made me walk alone down there he replied that it was because I was “too drunk” to come in. If he thought I was “too drunk” then why on earth would you make a 19yr old girl walk down the street by herself in the dark. Absolutely disgusted by the dangerous position he put me in, super unprofessional and puts a bad name to a nice bar.

Carly, Cameron and Meg served me— they were so patient with my allergens and they create such a wonderful friendly environment :) Cam made some lovely cocktails as well!! I had an amazing experience at Box Headingley last night, and it's all thanks to Pawan Patil, their exceptional bartender. Pawan's service was outstanding, and his drink recommendations were spot on. The atmosphere at Box was vibrant, and my night was made even more enjoyable because of Pawan's friendly and professional service. Fun cocktails and a good atmosphere

I recently visited Box Headingley, and Pawan Patil served me as the bartender. I had a great experience during my visit. Pawan was friendly and provided excellent service. He made some fantastic drink recommendations, and the overall service was top-notch. I had a wonderful time, and I'll definitely be returning to Box Headingley for another enjoyable evening.

Best sports bar ever visited. Best place to watch football matches. Also, special shout for the Pawan, best hospitality service provided by him .

Best place to visit on weekends. Their Box Iced Tea is amazing, must recommended. Special Kudos to the efforts of Pawan Patil, their bartender. Amazing place, I also got 20% student discount.

The staff are nice considering the people they have to serve. It's a decent place earlier in, but after a while it attracts a grimey vibe that's just not pleasant at all. One of my least favorite places in headingley Lowkey. Foods aight too.

What a good place, never had the food, always gone in for the day or when doing the otley run, brilliant atmosphere, they have a roof top bar too, always packed out, dance floor is quite big, and they have a downstairs area too. Lovely Lovely people and I shall return.

Didn't have food but everything else was good

As someone who worked in a pub before, I totally understand you guys need to have a time to refuse anyone coming in before you close, but if you close at 1am, your bar is still selling, why can't I coming in at 12:20 to buy takeaway drinks? It won't take 5mins, I know the security dude is doing his job but I think in catering business you cannot refuse service at opening times without justified reasons.

Security let down what is a great venue

I am a social assistant for the Leeds University International Summer School and organised a social event for the students at The Box. I could not be more grateful to all the box staff for making this event unforgettable. I called up just 1 day prior to the event to ask the box staff it would be ok to bring approximately 50 students. Olivia’s communication with me leading up to the event was incredible. I want to express my sincere gratitude to her for going above and beyond to make this event so successful. Olivia arranged for us to have an area reserved upstairs, got the pool equipment out for us and blocked off a section downstairs so students could take part in the quiz. Unexpectedly, over 100 students turned up to The Box. Olivia’s professionalism and dedication to customer service were evident and her ability to handle a significantly larger crowd than expected was truly impressive. Her flexibility was outstanding. The students all ordered food and the kitchen staff were phenomenal and worked tirelessly to ensure all the students received their meals, despite their only being four of them in the kitchen. I am so grateful to them. The food was delicious and all the students loved it. There was such a great range of choice and it was all 50% off. The bar staff deserve such high praise for their friendly and accommodating demeanor. They effortlessly handled the increased demand and remained calm throughout the duration of the event, making everyone feel welcome and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all the students. The students had so much fun and The Box was the perfect location for the students to socialise and get to know one another. I wholeheartedly recommend The Box as a venue for hosting events. Olivia demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, making our evening unforgettable. The level of care and exceptional service provided at The Box is truly commendable. Rude security, tried to get a drink in the same queue as everyone else and got refused for no reason. I then questioned this and got kicked out by a bouncer. Rude and would not return in the future.

Staff are exceptional! Lost two phones & both were kept with a staff member until we claimed back - were so understanding and helpful! Couldn’t thank them enough for helping us! Bouncers as well!

Excellent spot if you are heading out on Headingley! The box is a must visit place for 20-40’s age group and maybe a bit older if young at heart. Can get extremely busy and a tad rowdy during student nights and events but the staff are good and the security people are fantastic, very helpful and professional. Also has live sport and bar games such as pool.

The bouncers at this establishment are incredibly unprofessional. We abided the request to stand in the narrow line outside the pub that had been set out for us. However for the bouncer on this particular day I wasn’t Crammed in tight enough to the people around me. I moved back into the que meaning I lost my place. The bouncer then proceeded to call me multiple terms of powerful paraphernalia and stating -“GET OUT OF MY VENUE”. After this he pulled the rope above my head and squared up to me. Shortly after he then decided to stare at me threateningly whilst I crossed the road. All of this because I couldn’t fit into the gap they had set out narrowly from the wall of the pub to the roadside. Extremely disappointed that what seems to be a fine pub is ruined before you can even step foot inside.

Usually have an okay time in here.. but the past experience was awful. Went out with work friends, and at a random point in the night, a very aggressive security guard came up to me and another girl and kicked us out. When I asked why, he didn't give a reason. Then security at Manahatta told us that there is a well known Box security guard that just kicks girls out for no reason. Won't be going back to spend money there.

Very fun, good university environment and young and it has pool and a betting game where surprisingly you can win money.

Went here last night very busy place. Myself and couple of friends was at the bar for 30 minutes without getting served one of the bar staff kept serving all young lads jumping the queue, when we challenged her another staff member jumped in and said stop giving us attitude, their was no attitude we was just pointing out the obvious. We got no apology just attitude of the bar staff. I know it was busy but that was out of Oder the way i got spoke to think it might of been the bar manager she needs some training in customer services. All in all good place unfortunately just a couple of staff that let the place down.

Food was amazing, staff were sooooo attentive and helpful as I had a stroke recently and opened a downstairs area for my group and made sure we didn't feel left out.

Can be hugely student heavy (fine if you're a student!) So I'm perhaps more strategic in when I choose to visit, but the food is good, cheap (on a Thursday) and plentiful. Lots to like here.

Good if you're under 25 or want to watch sport on multiple big screens. Bar snack food was really good.

Me and my friend were treated very well at this pub, where there is a fun atmosphere even beginning at the counter and music is played! We enjoyed our 2 for 1 cocktail offer and when I became sick from having drank at too many pubs by then, the staff were helpful and patient. I had to use the toilet and cleanliness had been maintained, like at the seating that is highly comfortable!

Hey last night I was very disappointed, I'm not happy with one of the security, he was very rude to me. I won't return. Advice for business owner if you want a good business have good staff.

It’s ok, musics a bit naff can be overcrowded at times, probably the most Leeds like bar in Headingley.

We booked for 13 people and what a great service we got !! easy to book we arrived and Olympia took care of our needs she welcomed us with a big smile and made sure we was accommodated!! Rhi served us in a professional manner. We would definitely recommend the box as a place too get together and have a celebration the food came out altogether and was amazing definitely value for money with the best service you could ask for we will back for sure thank you guys.

Standard student bar, few pool tables and a big screen for the football

One of the best bars in Leeds for atmosphere, karaoke and sport. The bar staff were stand-offish and a bit rude to me when I tried to order food one night, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt; perhaps they were just having a bad day. There are pool/snooker tables and 2-4-1 cocktails. Great place for everyone!

Booked a table for 3 to watch the Formula One, arrived and was sat on a table in the middle of the room with just two small screens showing the F1, without volume since American Football was on. The connection they had kept dropping meaning it would lag out and disconnect all the time, so we missed the start of the race. Seemed like there were quite a few dissapointed F1 fans there from the groans. Pleased to say had no issues down the road at Skyrack for the F1.

Waited ages to get to the bar, then the tender took a 'holiday' so the area where I was didn't get served... I was waiting at minimum 20 minutes after reaching the bar.

Full of students which is fine but to find a pouch of pills on my table (upstairs) was enough for me to leave. The fact the bar staff didnt know their own drinks (I ordered a Zubrokwka and they had no idea what it was, despite me pointing to the bottle!) was also rather odd!

Illegal, unethical labour practices (same company as manhatta). There are much nicer, less pricy pubs nearby anyway. Staff are bullied into completing lengthy training unpaid. They are also expected to come in early before every shift uncompensated. Wage theft is rife and confrontations about missing wages are ignored. Shift and break lengths are unlawful. I've lived in Leeds all my life and its a shame to see more and more money grubbing companies taking over areas which once had heart. Please avoid supporting the exploitation of employees.

This is a solid bar was pretty decent food. Burger and chicken type stuff but a decent quality. The beers are pretty good on draft and on a nice day all the upstairs is opened up to outside. The bouncer is a bit of a militant for the Covid-19 rules but at least they were enforcing them unlike some places. Easy place to go if you want a couple of beers with the boys and some food while the sport is on....

Awful customer service. Staff were very rude when one member of my party tried to explain he was exempt from wearing a mask due to having panic attacks. If you have a policy that doesn't allow people in without a mask that is absolutely your choice and completely understandable. HOWEVER there is no need to be rude to your potential customers.

1. The security guards were extremely rude and obnoxious, I appreciate it’s difficult in “covid times” however there was no need to talk to people the way they did. Walking around shouting “who wants to be the first to get kicked out” left me feel intimidated and feeling like I can’t enjoy my night. 2. We were asked to leave our table at approximately 2200hrs although my booking was until 2230hrs. Once again we were bullied of the table by security and put outside in the rain. We were left with 10 beers that we still hadn’t drank but we had no option but to leave due to the pushy staff. 3. During the course of the night I felt my table was singled out by the bouncers. I felt as if they were watching our every move and felt like we had been picked on. No other table near to where we were sat had a dressing down like we got over and over again. As a professional I understand how hard it is to keep things managed over the duration of Covid 19 however I can not seem to get my head round how my friends and I were treated last night (18/6/21). From what should have been a night to enjoy turned into a night of constantly watching over our shoulders feeling as if we were going to get thrown out of the bar for doing nothing wrong at all. It just seems as if the security use Covid legislation as a way to bully people rather than legislation that is present to keep people safe. So all in all I did not enjoy my night here and felt it had been totally ruined by the rude bullies you employ as security,

The deposit seems a little high but worked out quite well for the amount of people and wasn't too difficult to redeem on the app. Although at peak times it can get very busy and noticed others going from their table to strangers hassling young women which is a little unsettling. Not really my usual go to setting but a decent menu overall for choices.

We booked a table in advance (given the COVID rules) in order to watch the Leeds vs Man United game. We specifically asked for a table that we'd be able to watch the football on and they took a non refundable deposit from us knowing that was the case. None of the TVs in the outside seating area on the roof where they show the sport were visible at all because of the lighting. I suggested to the bar staff that they should put something on top of the windows to prevent the glare from the sun, but they seemed to just find it funny that people who wanted to watch the football were getting riled up for not being able to do so. Plus the beer was rubbish and served in bog standard pint glasses despite the place not being that busy due to COVID. Won't be coming back and it's getting skipped the next time we're out on the Otley run

Booked in to watch Leeds v Man United. Given it's a sports bar, you'd assume that they would check you'd be able to see the screens from outside when accepting bookings that were specified as being for outside viewings. NOPE. You can't see a thing, whether the sun is out or not. We were not told this and just missed a very important game. Never coming back for this reason.

Had to pay £10 each before arriving and then charge £5 as an 'admin fee' if we cancel. Needless to say we booked somewhere else instead round the corner. Poor money-grabbing attitude is not acceptable.

Terrible bar, staff arrogant...look out for Olympia who thinks she owns the place. Atmosphere, food and drink very poor, better to go to one of the adjacent bars. Gives Leeds a bad name. Much better elsewhere.

Best bar in Headingley and has been for years - drink, food, vibe and staff all amazing. Unfortunately, a few (not all) of their Bouncers can occasionally be needlessly thuggish. Additionally, I'm not sure what the toilet attendant does aside from handing out lollipops and sprays of knock off aftershave for a fiver - he certainly doesn't clean anything.

It's the same has it's always been, it's the bar open latest in Headingley. The floors are a little sticky, on both floors, and it's packed with the younger end of the spectrum getting ready to go to town. The beer isn't too highly priced, but it's not the best tasting either. If you're ready drunk you'll be fine.
