Absolutely my type of place, the staff are amazing too, ordered food with a little wait but they profusely apologised and as I was on my own I asked them could they mind my drink while I nipped the loo (on my own) and they kept it safe for me (not that I think anything would have happened to it) couldn't fault them

I had a terrible experience at The Box. The manager was incredibly rude and kicked us out for no reason. We were respectful customers, yet we were treated with unnecessary hostility. Instead of addressing any concerns professionally, the manager acted aggressively and made us feel unwelcome. It was a disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values good customer service. There are plenty of other places where you’ll be treated with respect—this is not one of them.

Played Shuffleboard, Manager was so helpful and friendly. Great bar for everybody, we will be coming back. Big thanks.

Went there to watching the boxing on Saturday 22nd Feb, lively atmosphere. Reserved a table upstairs ordered the chicken shawarma and house fries was absolutely delicious I was very surprised as I didn't have expected but it was delicious the bread was super soft the salad was fresh and lightly picked the chicken was succulent and well cooked, the fries were fresh nice. I would definitely try something else from the menu next time. My friend ordered the lamb kebab because I was so happy with my food and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Pina colada cocktail was very nice I had 2. Only downside was that cocktail were not available upstairs so I had to downstairs to order my drinks.

They need to sort out table reservations better. We went to watch the football & sat at an unreserved table, ordered food & drinks and were quite happy. Then with half an hour to go in the game a member of staff came up & told us the table was reserved & we had to move. We explained there was no reserved sign on the table & never had been. Then she told us ‘some people’ rip them up - which we absolutely did not do. Went downstairs & stood up to watch the rest of the game & saw the same thing happen to 2 other groups (told to vacate tables which weren’t marked as reserved when they sat down). No problem with the bar allowing customers to reserve seats, but they need to better manage it.

Booked a table to watch football to end up sharing it with 4 others, luckily a nice bunch of lads but the box allow a free for all, no point in booking a table if it's not private, bar service poor due to lack of staff on a Saturday lunch time KO, could be handled better by management with the amount of ppl in the bar watching United in the middle of Manchester. The demand should have been expected QR code turned off at table too! Much better drinks in other bars in the city centre

Oh the loaded fries were delicious. The inside was spacious and fresh too and ladies I do suggest you check the toilet too it has a cute design.

It had to be some experience, and honestly, I am not disappointed at all. The place is simply buzzing. Sports Bar, multiple screens, 2 levels , brilliant service, wonderful food and last but definitely not the least, great cocktails to accompany everything else ... Staff extremely rude, went to the Birmingham chain and it’s significantly better. Every question we asked about food or seating during an England rugby game was replied with an extremely rude response. Overly full and nothing really worth coming back for. Staff were also stopping for chats whilst working and chewing gum on shift.

Have to say was massively disappointed. Booked a table for the last F1 race, and it was pretty poor. We had a table of 10, and the place was full. One person on the bar, was chaos. We then ordered from the QR code (had to use another table as our tables wasn’t there) we told the bar staff, waitress, and the manager what table we had ordered on, and what table we were sat at and they still took it to the wrong table twice. We got there 20 mins before the race started and our first drinks turned up 20 minutes after it started. In terms of watching sports it’s a great set up but it was just a calamity in terms of service. Food was good though.

Was waiting my turn at the bar like a civilised person with one guy ahead of me. Suddenly a bunch of guys came up. I still waited thinking I would be catered to first as I was next but the bartender lady started asking this other dude first what he wanted. I thought at first maybe she did not notice me so I leaned closer but she did not even look at me still and catered to another person who clearly came after me. The bar wasn’t even all that crowded at this point so she clearly did see me standing there and just chose to ignore me. Not sure if this was because I was a person of colour. I finally did not place my order out of utter disappointment and left. Will choose to go somewhere else next time.

241 cocktails - seems like a good idea, but they are teeny tiny cocktails. Not been at the weekend, so can’t compare - but even 241 it did feel very pricey. £5 happy hour beers are good value though.

If i could give 0 stars i would… my boyfriend and i went in for a couple drinks and we’re loving it - staff were so nice until they served us as lights went on. The drinks were charged and then we were told we needed to leave within 10 minutes meaning we would have had to down 2 doubles? When we just asked for a refund because they were shut before we even got the drinks the bar staff mocked and said just drink it you’ve got time. When the bouncer said finish up drinks when we got back to the table we decided we didn’t want to down our drink so went back to the bar and asked for a manager. The bar staff gave us dirty looks and the manager was rude. No apology even though they had “ILLEGALLY” served us after their close time, we got a refund but the staff couldn’t of made more uncomfortable even though it was their mistake.

All we wanted was to watch the Ireland vs all blacks and it was on almost evevery screen so it was perfect, only slight problem could be the lack of seating, but a fantastic sports bar non the less! Then after the rugby was live music which was also brilliant! Didn't get food so can't comment.

Went for drinks and see a live band. Good big place. Lots of seating. Dance floor. Games. Good place for a fun night out.

***Do NOT book here to watch NFL*** regardless of box being an official sports bar partner of the NFL. We had a 3.5 hour booking to watch the NFL game this Sunday and 2.5 hours into our booking they switched all of the TVs onto the England vs Finland game. There was about 20 mins left of the NFL game and they could have left it on the one small tv viewable from our booked table but they didn’t… we ended up missing the end of the game. 1 - you should have told us at the time of booking you’d be switching to the England game before the NFL game finishes - then we would have chosen to go elsewhere. 2 - you could have grouped all the NFL bookings in one area and kept 1 screen showing this game until it finished in this area. It was quite obvious some of the people that were watching it (we were all in jerseys). Extremely disappointed. Will not be coming back for a sports booking again.

A brilliant pub we returned to a few times during our stay in Manchester. Excellent choice of beers and plenty of tv's to keep up to date with all the sporting events. Live music was good to! Shuffle board was excellent fun!

Visited Box on Saturday after Celtic Legends friendly at old Trafford we had a young girl with us aged ten The bouncers were welcoming despite how busy the bar was for the Ireland /England game the service was quick and friendly. Food was excellent girls loved the garlic bread with mozzarella pizza Good atmosphere everyone enjoying themselves nobody too drunk all good

We went midweek as a party of 4. The service was slow, the team were unhelpful and uninterested. The food took over 30 minutes, it was 3 pizzas and a burger. A meal was brought out that was wrong and the waiter was informed who called over the manager, who addressed the table in an unprofessional manner, their response in what can only be described as a tone of voice that didn't seem bothered/interested stated "I heard you wanted to speak to me, what is the problem" to which the 4 of us, sat there in disbelief because a) we hadn't asked for a manager, we had commented that the meal distributed was wrong & b) what sort of approach is that? Not rushing back anytime soon & that's a shame as we had previous positive visits.

Not sure what the food is like as I haven't eaten here but had a good time here few drinks with friends watching the football friendly atmosphere

Sports bar./boozer. Batch made cocktails but doesn't pretend to be anything else. The odd live band and even bandeoke on occasion.

Had a reservation for 6 people with confirmation 3 days before coming here, they said they didn't know anything about the reservation, and also they were unnecessary rude to me. I understand i'm a tourist and not a local, and there was a mistake with the reservation maybe, but treat people with respect. Never again.

The place is beautiful, especially if you have company and want to see a sporting event. The food is acceptable, average for English cuisine. The service could be much better, especially if you could order directly from the table without having to get up every time to get a drink

If you want to watch other teams rather than England, go somewhere else... We booked a table to watch Spain v Georgia, right after England v Slovakia. After the England's win, Spain v Georgia was in the screens, but not sound at all. Instead there was a live band playing music to celebrate the English win. I know we are in England, also know that celebrating is cool, but offering a service to watch a match properly and then not doing it is not professional. Other times all the matches were offered with sound and a good atmosphere, but this time it was just a party with another match on the screen. We left and went somewhere else to watch it. At least for the Euro 2024, this is not a Sports Bar, it's an England bar, which is ok, but then it should be advertised as such. We won't be going again and will choose another place treating the football atmosphere with more care and respect. By the way, when leaving, I mentioned the situation to a member of the staff at the door and he just laughed, really respectful and good way to treat customers...

We came in to watch the Euros games on a Saturday night and I have never been treated so rudely and with such utter contempt by any establishment in my life. We entered Box at around 6pm grabbing a table with a booking placard that read it was finishing at that time, so we were in the clear and to our knowledge the table free. We stayed on this table for around two hours, ordering food and drinks until a member of staff at 20:57 pulled the placard, revealing another booking for 21:00 from the table and said we had three minutes to leave, with full plates of food infront of us. The staff offered no alternative and said we had to eat our plated food standing up, which was frankly an outrageous solution, have you tried to eat a full meal stood up with a knife and fork? When we objected the bouncer was called who took/STOLE our food from and threateningly ejected us. There is nothing more to this story we were two friends only enjoying quiet conversation with each other. The management took extreme measures that I can only describe as disgusting. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS RUN BY THUGS AND CROOKS

You kicked me out because someone drank from a tap then spat it in my face and accused me of ‘being involved’ lol - you might to evaluate your guilt by association policy.

This place is really nice. They have live music and people are so nice. The only downsides are their expensive drinks. We tried pinacolada and a few beers. All their drinks were too diluted. You wouldn't feel the alcohol kicking in even after a few drinks. Rest assured it's a fun place

Check your menu facts. Some are wrong. For example - Northern monk, in the menu says 5.4%. Yet on the can it says 5.0%. In the menu no other beers besides CANNED beer. Why not put TAP/draught beer in the menu???

Visited this bar for the FA cup final at the weekend. The bar itself is absolutely lovely, but every single table was reserved and about 60% unoccupied an hour before kick off. I get that it's the FA cup final and it's going to be very busy, but they had signs on the table saying that you are welcome to sit at the table until the time of booking. Yet we get rudely asked to leave the table well before the time it was booked. So we move to another table and the same thing happened again. Basically shouted at as well because we wasn't moving quickly enough. I asked what happened in the event of someone not turning up for a reservation, to which I was told there was a 2nd reserve list. At which point we didn't bother sticking around. There was a que around the block to get in, so they must be doing something right but I'm not sure what. Instead we chose to watch somewhere we was made to feel welcome.

The live music is so loud your ears will be ringing for hours after. Also the sound of the matches is way too loud. Even if everyone in there agress, they still dont turn the sound down.

Said would put rugby on before buying a drink, said no after. Bought 3 drinks 1 didn’t arrive, had to pay again for the 3rd.

Came here on a Tuesday night (Spurs Vs City game) the whole place was severely under staffed. One barman upstairs and the whole place was busy. Ordered food and took over an hour again not the fault of the staff, I actually felt sorry for them. Who ever did the staff rota got it completely wrong! Awful experience.

Had booked a table to watch a football game here. Arrived 40 min before kickoff to be told that they didn't have our booking but we could sit wherever, which was fine. As they had loud music on we asked whether the sound would be put on for the football game, we were assured it would be. We then ordered some extremely pricey food and more drinks. 5m before kickoff we ask again whether any sound would be on for the football, at which point we were told that even though a lot of people were here to watch the game, because not enough people had booked in advance they had booked a live band instead! We then watch the kickoff while the band starts playing, which was just about tolerable with the house singer. What tipped it over the edge was the fact that it turned out to be bandeoke, meaning members of the public could come up to sing along with the backing band. Except it wasn't members of the public, it seemed to be exclusively staff singing. So while the majority of people are there to watch the football, you have the bar staff doing awful renditions of various songs - the same manager who 5 minutes ago was apologetically telling me there was nothing he could do about there being music during the football, was now gurning with his microphone, jumping around and screaming badly to Katy Perry. It honestly made us feel like the staff were intentionally trying to get people to leave. We left after 20 mins or so and went over the road to the pub (not sports bar) where we could actually just watch the game. basically: - if you're not going to have the football on properly, it would be nice to be told that when I ask, not misled so that we spend more money up until kickoff and waste our time - I'm sure the staff love karaoke but save it for the work night out...if there's no takers for bandeoke then we would much rather listen to the singer than listen to the staff f about - why position yourself as a sports bar if you're going to book live music at the same time as the sports? not everyone books a table a week in advance for a football game! some people expect to be able to go into a "sports bar" and watch whatever live sport is on third time I've tried this place to watch sports but never been great, after this don't think I'll be back

Great atmosphere and nice place if you want to watch live sport on TV.

We were racially abused at this venue and the staff told us to leave as a result. This was unacceptable as the people who abused us and punched us along with dragging my mate across the bar by his neck were allowed to continue watching the match inside the bar while we were forcefully made to leave by the staff which included being shoved in the face by the bouncer. The manager who spoke to us outside the entrance after we had been racially abused and assaulted told us that we were all all involved in an altercation and this was their policy when 5/7 members who were asked to leave were seated at the table during when my mate was being punched and dragged by the throat.

Yep nope never again. Absolute rubbish is what they call it in the Uk. People were falling everywhere, getting drunk and even twerking. I saw a granny start popping her hips like it was tje 1960s all over again. Get in check please guys and sell drinks that don’t cause people to go footloose in your establishment. This is a bar, not an elementary playground. The bartenders should seek help and the owners need counseling for this behavior. Never again am I going here

Shame decent bar and staff but the front of house manager is the rudest person I’ve ever come across in the hospitality industry. Would never return because of Ella. Failed to see how her staff made a mistake and wanted to shout at us for a mistake that her staff did. Once she realised the mistake her response was “I’m not arsed” and when I asked for her name she said I’m the front of house manager so good luck complaining. Shocking 👎

The pizza we ordered was pure raw and when we asked the manager if they could sort it out for us they said it was not raw and would not offer us a refund. Manager was very disrespectful and rude.

I have tried numerous times to resolve the issue experienced with Box via email, but the manager was rude and the area manager has ignored my emails since. It's a shame as I regularly attend the Leeds branch and the staff have always been great. Long story short, went to box shortly before Xmas, juts me and my friend for a quick drink before a meal. Football was on, but we were just wanting a quick drink en route to the restaurant. I went inside to get the drinks whilst my friend made a call. Purchased drinks and found a seat. My friend then rang to say the door staff would not allow him in as the football had restarted?!? Surely some confusion right. Left seat, walked to the door and spoke to the guy inside. Yes of course definitely some confusion. However the doorman was adamant my friend was not to coming in (maybe he took a dislike to the look of him) and the staff inside (two members at the point) trying to reason with him seemed to make him dig his heels in harder. No reason no rationale..pub wasn't packed and people were leaving. So basically I had to leave the two drinks I'd just purchased and leave the venue. Contacted box as I was shocked at the poor customer service (not by the indoor staff) and they are not interested. Seems like they are happy for customers to be treated poorly with no attempt of apology and refund (on principal). I honestly rarely write reviews, but I was so taken a back I thought I should raise the matter with box, only for the them to fail to act and be pretty rude in correspondence. Very disappointed.

Great night, booked in to watch the Super Bowl. Cracking atmosphere, Ella worked her socks off to make sure we had a good night. Meat feast pizza was well worth the money.

Now I usually love this bar, but tonight 1 sed Head doorman was an absolute jobs worth!! I watched half a football game in here, bar half empty, in front of the bar 45 mins no issue. Enter ‘Mr Jobsworth Ego 2 big Gestapo Supervisor’…. He makes a point about my cap needing to be turned backwards so the cctv camera can see me. I make the logical point that as long as my cap isn’t pulled over my face the cctv can see my face no problem with my cap raised high on my head. Not only can it see my face, but the cctv operative can freely bask in the all inclusive zone of viewing my stunning face….. Not enough for Mr Jobsworth……. demanding that I turn it backwards, but a no from me not wanting to look like a right idiot with my cap backwards…no thanks!! I ask for manager and jobsworth tells me he’s the manager even though he’s the head ‘Ego doorman’. Ego doorman then lies and isn’t the manager, but at this point he caused that much commotion and embarrassment including other customers commenting how badly he handled it was beyond belief!! We simply left part way though (See my lovely face in full display on cctv) went across the road to another bar with no gestapo style rule!! The box lost our custom and future custom full stop. I was bringing 50 people in here next month for a function, but that won’t be happening now. Lesson for ‘The Box’. Teach your staff to behave with a human level of customer service rather than bring absolute egotistic bad attitude. No reflection on the two lads on the main door or the bar staff who were great but, ‘Mr Jobsworth’ was an absolute first class weapon….. I would though like to clear up any miscommunication or concerns with you. Due to the licensing requests of Manchester City Council we do not allow headwear to be worn on the premises, whether this be a cap, a beanie or any other style of head wear. You will find the same rule in many of the bars down Deansgate, especially the ones as busy as we can get when there is large sporting events or even in the evening when we receive a high amount of footfall down Deansgate. Our Security personnel need to be able to monitor the crowd, both in person and with security cameras, and hats can make their job more difficult by concealing faces. Maybe in your case you felt your cap wasn't covering your face at all but I hope you can appreciate now why this rule is implemented. I apologise that maybe the situation in your opinion was not dealt with in a reasonable manner and as I said previous this will be addressed with our security company. Part of this issue is addressing the head doorman’s arrogant behaviour and abuse of power towards a long standing customer. My personal view is that the head doorman should be removed from his position of responsibility based on his overall behaviour. I would have expected that my party were offered a level of compensation by the Box following the unprofessional behaviour of this rude staff member. I have also been onto the council and your website finding no mention of any hat restrictions? My friends have visited the box never having the same issue with any hats or headwear. No request to turn your turban or beanie hat around on these occasions. I note you mention the councils rules around no hats within same area doesn’t exist either. You often see footballers entering similar bars in the area with hats on no issue. Please send me copies to the links to the policies you are citing. Thanks

This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with a flashy design including the lit up slogans on the walls! The counter is stylish and well-presented, manned by friendly staff. Live music was fantastic and seating is comfortable, where I enjoyed a refreshing pint of Coors!
