Bowburn Hall Hotel in County Durham

The hotel, grounds & lodges are excellent. The service is great & staff are friendly & make you welcome. The interior of the hotel has interesting features including pictures and the light-fittings. The menu is extensive there is something to suit all tastes. We dinned in the restaurant & were very pleased with our choices well done chef.

Just home from a amazing stay at Bowburn Hall. We were well looked after from stepping in the door to this beautiful building. The building and grounds are absolutely beautiful, so elegant. We had afternoon entertainment in the ballroom with Christmas meal. Food and service was outstanding from all the team We were upgraded to the executive room. Wow how beautiful also with amazing views of the garden. Comfy bed and everything you need for your over night stay. Breakfast was really nice with a wide choice with excellent service once again.. The young waitress was so friendly and made sure there was nothing else we needed. 100% credit to her. Staff go above and beyond to make your stay so perfect. Staff are so friendly. We will certainly return again. We would like to thank Lucy especially you made a hard few years. In to a magical day and night. Thank you so much we are so grateful Eileen and Gary. 😊

My best friend's wedding reception was had at Bowburn and it was perfect! We got prosecco on arrival, then the venue was in a beautiful room with flowers on the ceiling and on the tables. After dinner, we had tea in the lobby area while they set the event room for a ceilidh. A couple of the brideaids and I stayed in a lodge which was very cute and luxurious, and was just beside the hotel. It was an amazing night at an amazing venue!

Went to bowburn hall on Sunday for lunch. Fantastic food, fantastic staff, lovely time. Will definately be back!

What a beautiful place inside and out. Never knew this excited and been going to Durham for 5 years.. will definitely be staying here again. Price for this beautiful place wasn't even expensive

I stayed here and the housekeeper left human feces on the floor. With a note reading “learn to be nice to the customer service”. I was appalled. Disgusting and unacceptable.

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The parking was right outside, free and easy. The hotel has a lovely look, and the restaurant is lovely. Our room had twin beds, both comfy and good pillows. The bathroom is fab- big shower stall with rain shower and sprayer! Excellent! I woke up too late for the breakfast but the manager offered me coffee and a breakfast sandwich anyway. So appreciated! Highly recommend this place for its facilities and great service.

Exceptional service throughout my visit during my wedding booking today! Serving a range of elegant canapes to accompany their fine selected drinks reception. A true delight every visit!

Brilliant place, beautiful room and staff were very helpfull especially Tracey.

Went for Sunday lunch. I'm sorry to say I was not very impressed after recommendation from friends. On arrival noticed high chair for my grandson was filthy but had wet wipes so we cleaned it. Then saw glasses were all dirty with lipstick on 3 out of 6 glasses and 1 was chipped so they were changed there was also dirty side plate and knife. The meals arrived very quick but were not very hot of which 2 of our party had them changed we noticed someone on another table also having theirs changed. My daughters glass of coke was also flat but she was to embarrassed to mention it due to the other things. This is a lovely hotel and the sunday lunch is not cheap so was supposed to be a bit of a special treat unfortunately I don't think we will return.

Food was pretty generic and nothing special. The staff were very friendly. The tv's in the rooms were completely useless having no reception on any channel other than bbc1.

Attend a friend's wedding here, the service was lovely, dining room spacious and food good. Garden beautiful and suitable for an outdoor service weather permitting. Friendly staff and well priced bar.

Granddaughter was married here recently. Staff were amazing and the venue and food were to die for.

Went for a family wedding and the venue grounds, service and rooms were all magnificent, friendly helpful staff, very clean. Stunning venue gor a wedding or even a night away at very competitive rates

Attended my nephew's wedding. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our stay was absolutely beautiful. We stayed overnight in the lodge across from the hotel. It was extremely clean, great space and the beds were very comfortable. All in all we all had a magical weekend.

An excellent place to visit, warm, friendly atmosphere with good food, bar and lounge. The function room is also a good size for weddings and other functions and being on the ground floor is very easy to access. Excellent free parking with easy access to the main building and conservatory lounge with a lovely relaxing view over the garden and grounds. Can be a little tricky to find just off the A1 at the bowburn service's but your satnav will get you there and it around 2 miles from the A1 .

We had a very pleasant couple of nights here, warm welcome when we arrived, room was warm, clean and comfortable. Don't know about anyone else, but i like a decent shower in hotels, and the one in our bathroom was excellent! Hotel food was very good, in fact i enjoyed it that much i forgot to take photos 😅 excellent hotel with character and a good location if you are visiting Durham! Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay 😘 I've added a couple of photos of the free car park on the morning we departed for home reason being there was only a handful of cars the night before so my long winded point is ..we didn't even hear them all arrive..💤💤💤😍
