Boundary Fish Bar in South Kesteven

The restaurant was not busy, we waited 20 minutes to give our order. Waiter kept looking over at us and ignored us. We walked out. Terrible sefvice

We came for lunch on Sunday and only three tables were occupied, including ours. Perhaps that was an omen ? We ordered plaice and chips and an apple juice each and asked for one in golden batter and the other in light batter. After a 20 minute wait the meals arrived but the batter looked the same for both. I queried which one was the light one and the response was a vacant look and an uttering of, "Er.....dunno". At this point the lady who took our order came over and apologised profusely and said the "chef" ( interpret that as "fish fryer" as the term "chef" is an affront to actual chefs ) had got the order wrong and arranged a replacement. The cost of the drinks was deducted from the bill. We both had a horrible aftertaste from the cooking oil for the rest of the day. My wife also had very bad indigestion and when we got home in the late evening I had severe stomach cramps and diarrhea. Will definitely never be coming back here.

This was our third visit here and each time has been excellent. We sat in the lovely well maintained garden. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We had the seniors meal which consisted of fish, chips bread and butter and either peas or beans with a large pot of tea. We finished off with homemade apple pie with single cream ( not uht) service excellent and staff lovely.

Went here for the first time today and will definitely be back. The cod was fresh and so tasty with a light crispy batter. The chips were possibly the best I’ve had, not overcooked or reheated as I’ve had in other restaurants. A bonus was we could have extra complimentary chips as we made our way through the meal. The place was spotlessly clean and the flower baskets at the front and the lovely garden at the back with rows of begonias were beautiful, all well tended, and a credit to the gardener. Our waitress was polite and efficient and very attentive. All in all a lovely lunch ….. absolutely no complaints

We wondered whether the place had changed ownership, as we were rather disappointed with our visit. We have eaten here before and loved it. The place did not feel clean. The tables, table mats, everything seemed sticky. Also, perhaps because the door between the restaurant and adjoining Fish & Chip Shop was open all the time (previously used to be closed) there was a very strong greasy smell. The ceiling looked dirty. My husband is hard of hearing and wears hearing aids, and the noise from the radio station being played through the overhead speakers was irritating. Also disappointed with the meal itself as the fish was very hot but the chips were at best luke warm. The lady serving was lovely, but I dislike being directed by someone that there is an "option to add a tip" on the screen when making payment. Presumably this is because they have gone cashless. Would recommend that the place has a deep clean and/or changes its table cleaning product if that is what is causing the unpleasant stickiness.

The time before last I went there it was great. But last time I went, the service was so slow I left. They didn’t seem to have any orderly system or logical way to queue, so people were pushing in, all bumping into each other and exchanging stares and apologies. It was just a poor experience caused by a very simple issue to manage. The prices on the board have also risen dramatically since I was last there and chippy’s generally need to be careful not to price themselves out of the market. If you are going to charge lot, you need to provide an excellent product and service and while the food is good, the service on this occasion was dire. Note to staff: smile every now and then!

On a cycle ride on stopped for lunch here. Open all day and fish freshly cooked. Chips a little disappointing but okay. Very acceptable but not outstanding.
