From the moment we arrived, he made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing time. The atmosphere was electric, the drinks were top-notch, and Darren’s energy made the experience even better. He was friendly, attentive, and really made the night special for our group. Most of the taps were out when I went which was annoying, but the love music scene is cool, it's just a shame about the lack of drinks available

Had my 30th in the downstairs function room, love the space -feels intimate but not too small. Everyone I dealt with from booking process to on the night itself were super helpful, service was great & staff all really friendly and accommodating. Lots of options for big bookings in terms of drinks, food, experience (karaoke etc). Also just another typically stunning Electric Star venue. Highly recommend! Thank you so much Star team. X

Kind of a weird vibe. Had a full pat down before entering, bar was mostly dead but a DJ was playing music on the Saturday night. Bartender seemed annoyed to serve us beers, some of the patrons near us got into a confrontation with the door guy and that was entertaining for a little while to try and figure out what the issue was. Seemed like it was the patron’s fault. Then, curiously, the other patrons near us left their table one by one to go use the handicap restroom to puke, as the men’s restrooms only had urinals, and I guess they had more class than to toss into a urinal. Cheers. One of them came out of the restroom and tried to coach us on Polaroid camera photography because he did a stint as a photographer on a cruise ship, sometimes dressed like a pirate (his words). I thought the Polaroids came out alright for low light & no-flash… but what do I know. Probably wouldn’t go back, tbh but I live a few thousand kilometers from here so don’t put too much stock in that part of the review EDIT: rereading one year later I was second guessing how I know the bros were tossing in the bathroom and not going in there to do bumps of booger sugar, but my beautiful wife confirmed to me that the door was ajar and we both saw them and heard them as they were heaving. sometimes I’m glad my memory isn’t so good.

Went to try the food at Banzai Kitchen who was serving on the night. We had Two chicken burgers and chips each was very well priced and probably the best burger I have ever had! I highly recommend this place for the food alone!

Leroy, security guard, who called himself Mo after I requested his name, refused re entree after my friends and I bought drinks and we stepped out for a vape and check on our friends. He was very intimidating and rude. The manager came out and agreed we had been served previously and the security man still prevented us from coming and put his hands on me. The bar ladies were so lovely and provided a refund for the drinks we bought but the security man was so rude.

First time in the Star last night with my work colleagues and we were served by the most wonderful member of the bar team! I think it was only her second or third shift but she commanded that bar and the busy venue like a pro! Her cocktail skills were second to none and she was so friendly and approachable and more than anything a great laugh. I will certainly be returning but mostly for Siobhan she is a keeper!

Nice and cosy would definitely go there again staff open and honest I dropped my wallet and Kyra found it and handed it to me 10 out of 10

Was a really nice place to stop off with some work colleagues for a few drinks. Good selection of beers and a decent cocktail offer (weekdays).

Awful. Too much music and people inside & outside. Impossible to listen to a conversation and the choice of speakers for the music is very poor quality.

They don’t serve food here, has to be ordered in from an external pizza delivery place, we went to watch the football Eng vs Denmark only they were not able to link the TVs to the speaker system so no one could hear what was going on

The pub upstairs was quite nice, but the downstairs area was even better as they had live music. The performances were great, and we had a very enjoyable time,I would definitely recommend!

It's a sports pub from the nineties, with karaoke bar downstairs. Simple bar menu and guaranteed to be lively any night of the week.

two stars. I've only been to the place after midnight. Vibes are kinda off. Music was okay. As a DJ myself I can say the DJ had no idea. Pressing play after every song it felt like. No mixes or transitions. I'm glad I only paid £5 for the entry. Next time I'm in shoreditch I'd recommend going to the place opposite. It's an extra £10 for entrance but if you're looking for a vibe and the same music, I highly recommend. If you're looking for a dead place with this sort of DJ then come here :) no hate to DJs or creatives or DJs, keep doing your stuff. But this place...

Weird experience here-had a free shot coupon from Pub Crawl I was on and bartender said they don’t take them and gave me a beer. Not mad about it because I got free beer but I think pub crawl and The Star should communicate better because pub crawl advertised free shots at each pub

DJ AF and Kris Brown rocked the house last night banging out classic old skool house tunes. Great atmosphere and fun crowd. Keep the party going guys and see you again soon!

More atmosphere on the moon! Made a booking for the football game on Sunday, I didn’t need to bother booking, it was empty! Had to listen to below average songs no one had heard of. I thought at least these will be switched off when the game starts however they just kept on warbling away. I enquired when we would get the sound for the game inside however I was advised the speakers weren’t working. It would have been nice to have been called or emailed to notify me before hand. Then I could have gone somewhere better. Especially at £5 for a flat coke and carton orange juice. Tbh I wish I had stayed at puppy yoga, more atmosphere in a room full of miniature dachshunds! Please save yourself the trouble of wiping your feet on the way out and go somewhere else!!

security didn't help at all when my friend got spiked, absolutely awful service.

My friend was spiked here the other day and was not given proper attention from any of the bouncers when she informed them she wasn’t well and was refused when she asked if she could have some water and take it outside 0/10 would never go again

Great vibe at nights, the basement is very small for live events and it was not clean at all. Lots of stickers in walls.

Was here last night for a gig. My drink was spiked and security was really unhelpful. I wanted to stand outside with some water as I explained to them I felt awful and like I was going to collapse but they stopped me from taking it outside not just once but on multiple occasions.

I was there on Friday night and my girlfriend got spiked and the security or staff did nothing to help after repeatedly being told that she was not well and there was no precautions when entering the bar like ID or bag check so anyone could enter.

Top boozer nice change from the rest of Shoreditch where turnaround is fast. Especially good for the boxing if that's your thing.

Great vibe. Blair created a great vibe, They have heaters to. Open until late. 2 for 1 cocktails until 8 - perfect.

Unfortunately, I went there to the Sunday evening singer songwriter session downstairs which was brilliant but more than once, the girl behind the main bar upstairs was miserable, slow & unhelpful. There was a line queue & eventually another member of staff did help & was ok. 3 other people were complaining about the same thing which is why I thought I should mention the experience!

Best place in town. I will return soon.

About 20 of us booked some tables here for a couple hours for my birthday. The staff were really nice in making sure we were happy with our space and having a good time, thank you very much!

The star in Shoreditch, great pub I popped in to by chance. Fantastic vibe, smoking area with seating and a nice view to boot. Had the absolute pleasure of chatting to and being served by one of the barmen Billy. He was welcoming and warm, everything you'd want in a barman.

On 25/08/2023, my jacket and umbrella disappeared between 2 am and 4 am. They were placed on a chair near the ladies' toilet. I'm uncertain whether they were stolen or if a staff member brought them inside. Unfortunately, the staff members couldn't provide details and asked me to return tomorrow. However, I have work to attend to and can't do so. I hope the general manager sees this review, checks the security cameras, and provides me with the necessary details.

Junior was amazing , such a great member of staff, he was so friendly and made the place feel great from the beginning. He also helped my friend get her phone back as she left it at the bar, and he made sure she got it back!! Love this place but junior made it so much better. Thank you<3
