Red Dog Saloon in Hackney

They slotted us in with no booking on Valentine’s Day! All the staff were so professional and lovely and the food was great. I overate because it was so tasty 😋 We appreciated them serving champagne by the glass too as we were celebrating our eleventh anniversary. Hope to come again one day.

We came and didn't have much time due to an event nearby. Jade was amazing throughout our whole stay. She recommended us dishes that are quicker to get, was so friendly and attentive, checked in with us and made us feel like no request was too much. The food was amazing, we had the ribs with a couple of sides and couldn't even finish it. It was perfectly cooked, tender and had a great taste. At the end Jade was super fast to check us out and we were on our way. Our visit was short and sweet and we'll be definitely back for seconds.

Restaurant felt cold and so was the food. Short rib and pork rib were both quite tough. Fried chicken was good. Service was really good though.

Amazing food and alot of it- sharing platters could feed 4 people if having sides as well. Good night for 6 of us and nice booth seating 👍

Waited for ages and food come out cold - very disappointed

If anyone is wondering if it's authentic, it is. I am originally from the American south and everything from the decor to the food is about as close to southern BBQ that you will find in London. I don't know if the head chef is from the U.S. but would not be surprised if they are. Come here if you want to revive memories from "home". Pay no attention to food snobs from Texas. Their ego is big but their palette is not.

Service people were really nice and welcoming, and we received the food quicker than expected. Somehow, the food was ... underwhelming. It was plenty but we really did not enjoy it.

Red dog is the best place to go for American style BBQ in London.

Terrible service no table was ready even though we reseved a table. The lightning was dimly lit could not see the menu. The food was awful, Macaroni burnt. I did not enjoy my birthday.

That was an amazing experience! Had fried pickles for the first time and I love it! Will come there for sure!

This type of food shouldn't be that hard to get right but everything just seemed to be over salted and just lacking taste. Others had the chicken wings and said these were really good.

Absolutely amazing food and a fantastic atmosphere. Everything was cooked to perfection, full of rich flavours and the portions were just right. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even better. You can tell there’s real attention to quality and detail here. Definitely a place I’ll be returning to soon, highly recommend for anyone looking for a great meal in Shoreditch.

I traveled from Liverpool, where Red Dog Saloon is a favorite of mine and the Hoxton location did not disappoint! The food was just as incredible, perfectly smoky, tender and full of flavour. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere had that same cozy, Southern-style vibe I love. It’s rare to find consistency across locations, but Red Dog Saloon delivers every time. Can’t wait to visit again!

Damn cool place. Food, drinks and service were top notch. Awesome cocktails and the Kentucky platter was damn good.

Came here with the family and order a New york platter which came with 2 burgers and sides it was a great value for money also ordered a pitcher of beer and some cocktails . atmosphere was amazing and service was quick i perfect spot for a family meal will definitely be returning again 👍🏻

Been to the Hoxton branch this week for a family Birthday celebrations ... And we wasn't disappointed at all. The food came really quickly, the staff were all friendly and patient with us, being a booking of 15, it must have been difficult getting all our orders. Also a big shout out to the bartender Stuie. He was very knowledgeable in the drinks on offer and gave such flair to the bar that it kept us all entertained. Well worth a trip if your looking for a good meal out

Everything was excellent. I recommend to arrive with a reservation made at least sooner that day. The attention from the waitress also perfect. I totally recommend this place

This was our 4th time visiting since opening. We usually have nights away in London a few times a year and for a while have been to Reddog each time. First 2 times really good very happy with everything but the last two times really not been very good especially our last visit this past Saturday. 3 wrong orders delivered to us where the server had wrote down the wrong orders. One being the starters so then we had a long wait to be reordered. The second was a side of onion rings instead of fries and the third being brisket instead of beef rib. After waiting then again for the beef rib to turn up after everything else it was uneatable very chewy we couldn’t bite through it to eat it. Everything was just very tasteless compared to any other time we had been it was disapointing because we have recommended this place to many people in the past. We still payed our bill without complaining as the rest of the staff seemed rushed off their feet and made us feel comfortable asking for anymore drinks etc and doing a good job. We seemed to think there was many orders being ordered wrong from certain other members of staff and others seemed annoyed at this. I hope to see reddog saloon back to how it was soon and hopefully this gets to the right ears to help fix the issues.

Our waitress Jade was extremely helpful and friendly and made sure we were happy with our meal and drinks. Jade and her colleague were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Food was pretty poor for the price Served cold and waited a long time for the main course Service was not great and drink sat at the bar for ages until we asked where the drink had got to. Was questioned with a form to answer why we requested the service charge to be removed from our bill by a stroppy waitress

La funcionaria dijo que su gerente le había pedido que llamara y que no tenía idea de cuánto tiempo llevaba reservada la fiesta. Fuimos a otro lugar, pero muy mal servicio al cliente.

Great place for a burger or bbq type food

Food was flavourless and bland all tasted the same. Presentation was poor. The beer was cold on the upside. Will deffinatly NOT BE GOING BACK AGAIN !!!!!!!!

Food was delicious across the order and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We went as a group of 8 and the service was fast and effective. The burgers tasted really good and it was obvious that they use good quality meat. Wings are highly recommended so be sure to try them if you go there

Quality of the food is quite poor compared to what you’re paying. The burgers are nice however very sloppy and an overall lack of flavour. The platters while full contain majority beans, corn and coleslaw with a handful of semi dry cuts of meat. The choice of pickles is also strange, it’s like they cut up cucumbers and only brined them for about 10 minutes before serving them (not very pickely at all!). The staff were very nice so no complaints there but for the price you’re paying that are many better alternatives if you want Texas style slow cooked meat.

FOOD- I got a platter, the food wasnt hot it was luke warm & some parts were cold. All the bbq is rather one note, even if its dry rub it doesn’t taste of anything other than smoke. Theres no depth of flavour , spice, marinade nothing. Meat was 100% tender & nothing was dry or overcooked, however it tasted bland. The drinks were delicious we actually got several cocktails & were happy with those. SERVICE- when we first got there it wasn’t busy so service was as expected. We had a really nice lady as our waitress who tried her hardest to stay on top of things & provide good customer service, she even made good recommendations which we appreciated. However as it got busier we realised she was working the whole floor (taking orders, cleaning tables & running food) & one person on the pass/lift for food & deliveries. Which meant no one was running drinks regularly once they became overwhelmed. *we waited near enough 15 minutes for our drinks*, which lead to barman making drinks then leaving the bar to run them. Its NYE its busy, & as a hospitality manager I completely understand these things happen so I just didn’t feel the need to complain & add to their stress. they tried their best to deal with the situation at hand, it was just a little chaotic for a while. Overall i would return for drinks and maybe starters or a burger, but the BBQ is lacking and needs some improvements imo.

Absolutely gorgeous food, brilliant atmosphere, we had a brilliant night celebrating our son’s 20th. Also loved the playlist, excellent choice of music!

Overpriced. Main course was more of a starter and the ‘brisket’ was more akin to a poor Sunday Carvery. Music was far too loud so the people trying to serve couldn’t hear and brought out the wrong stuff

The food had just the right amount of seasoning, and the service was great. All of the waiters were very welcoming and nice.

We visited Red Dog Hoxton with high hopes, especially after bringing along our champion, Alex Brown, who had previously devoured their red hot wings in an impressive 01:30. He was told that, as a reward for his victory, he and his friends would receive a lifelong 20% discount. However, when the bill came, Alex was the only one to receive the discount, leaving his friends bitterly disappointed. While the meat was decent, the experience was soured by the broken promise of a group discount. It’s hard to overlook the fact that what was supposed to be a fun and rewarding experience for everyone ended in frustration. Sadly, we’ll be leaving a 2-star review, not because of the food, but because of the unmet expectations and lack of proper communication.

Great place where you can enjoy a night out with tasty burgers and fries went for a Christmas party there which was awesome and the staff very friendly and polite defo recommend it for anyone to pop by and try it out.

Great food great service quite pricey for what you get but enjoyed it

All was good, I shared a 2 course platter and couldn't fault the quality or quantity. The atmosphere was good especially after some people had already had one or two drinks prior. Service was ok but it was unclear who ordered what and shouting out the different burger names seem to confuse people, probably needs some improvements eg table numbers etc

Food wasn't too great. Not enough flavour for my liking. Service was poor. I waited over 10 minutes until I had to get someone's attention. The atmosphere was ok.

As a BBQ restaurant i was expecting to be wowed by the smoked meats and I ordered one the the platters. I'm not sure how the meat could be so disappointing. Dry, bland, under seasoned and Brisket that was so overcooked it was criminal. Service was pretty good, and those in our party who ordered Burgers were very happy. My advice, treat it like a BurgerJoint and you won't be disappointed but if you are thinking you will be getting a good BBQ then I would strongly suggest going elsewhere.

Services was really bad had to ask 3 time for cups with ice and water from 3 different waiter and still got nothing, I had to go to the bar my self and get it I was also charger twice when paying and have to email them to get back refund back!!!

We came as a party of six, two of us had burgers which looked amazing. We had two of the platters which were a bit disappointing unfortunately. Both the brisket and the pork were well over cooked which was a shame. The service was great and the atmosphere good, nice wines too, but not a patch on the food at say Smokestak or Blacklock

When we arrived the reservation was not recognised Finally was given a table then everything seem to be a rush Drinks order came - disappointed in the quality in drink cocktail which was 10 ice cubes and nothing else Food was forced upon us order food hurry up Everything was a rush and the first hostess seemed to have big chip on her shoulder, didnt make me and my friends feel welcome at all The second hostess was much more polite Food was semi ok, felt it was cold and pre prepped Overall a disappointing venture at red dog

Visited here today with my family and I can firmly say I'll be visiting again next time.im in London!! Wow !! I saw this place on a freinds review site on tik tok and omg it didn't dissapoint !! Everything was banging!! Service and food 😋 the barman Stuart was a great laugh and super freindly and pure waitress keira (sorry if I spelt it wrong ;) ) was super freindly , happy and very polite :) I thank ypu guys for making us feel so welcome , now the food !!! I ordered the brisket / pork shoulder / link sausage and mash ....The brisket was the perfect mix of smoky , rich , melt in the mouth slow cooked perfection ! , the slow cooked pork shoulder was out of this world , tender , seasoned smoky and sooo buttery !! Was a perfect companion to the creamy mash potato and gravy , the gravy was a nice southern style with a perfect mix of flavors , and then there's the link smoky sausage with a rich southern taste and lovly with there house bbq sauce witch has a kind of cayenne pepper kick to it too , and lastly there texas toast is the nicest I've had too , perfectly toasted with a soft , but crispy finish with a lovely buttery taste , I cannot fault this place what so ever , I recommend highly , get down to red dog saloon and enjoy the awesome atmosphere with a true American saloon feeling and good country music to suite , many many thanks to you all there , best wishes and look forward to visiting again soon 😁😁😁😁

Only 3 star because of the food - rest of the restaurant is easily 4 to 5 star. The food over last cooked of times I have been had been disappointing. Chicken tenders overcooked / dried out. The sharing platters are mediocre as the meat tends to be quite fatty and marinades can be over powering. With the disruption of independent bbq chains - Red Dog are now held to a higher benchmark of what good food is

Amazing food if you're a big meat eater like me! My partner & I had a sharing platter & it was massive. Really good quality meat & very tasty. Quite pricey but worth it if you're in the mood for a feast. Sexy, cosy ambience & atmosphere with cool decor. Will definitely be going again!

Fun place and staff is good! Unfortunately the brisket was very dry and overdone in my sandwich. It was a waste of £16 to be honest. The house beer is very bad, don't ask for that! The gooie burger was very nice!

The food was over priced for a platter Drinks expensive was not impressed with the bill when it came for the amount of food you get for two people . Food not seasoned very bland more pork than meat and it was fatty . Wings were just hot with no flavour . They gave us black pudding which there should be a choice . I think this place is overrated . I have had better food for less money .

OVERPRICED AND UNDER QUALITY. We had heard a lot about this place over the years, and as we were wandering Saturday night we spotted in and thought ourselves very lucky to get a table on the spot (should have been a red flag). We went for a platter to get a nice range of bits. This was £70 for two people. For one dish, with no chips! Well, we bit the bullet because we were excited about the food. We needn't be. It looked the part, but when I say there was not one bit of flavour in any of the meats I promise I mean it. I'll attach a photo of how much we left . We ate a fair bit, but that was only because we were spending so much on this, also waiting for something to give a little flavour. The wings were about the best, but that's probably just because they were covered with sauce. The mash was nice. Chips were ok. Very disappointed. There are so many more better places for this kind of food. Id understand if one of the meats was not upto scratch, but all of them?! The service was fine, the ladies were nice. Unfortunately my partner asked for a gin and lemonade, she was given a double which she didn't ask. So that was £8 for the gin and £4.59 for the lemonade! Wtf. £105 for two people, one dish, two drinks. Shocking

10/10 any other reviews are wrong. Staff great quick service food is always on point. Drinks are great. Been all over London and this is one of the best smokehouses by far.

The restaurant was qiuet as it was mid week , but i see it ass the the chef has more time to prepare your order. First time tasting a brisket sandwich, and I was not disappointed. The cocktail could have been severed in bigger classes, but overall, the service and meal were to a good standard, and I will be returning.

Outstanding food, we came for my son’s 18th birthday, he said it was the best meal he’s ever had! Great choice on menu, everything cooked to perfection, would definitely revisit.

I haven’t been her in the evening for a while and to be honest I’m not sure I will again. There were for 3 larges groups of men sat together who completely ruined the evening for us. They were incredibly loud and to be fair to the staff they did move us which was super kind but then the football chants started. The staff are difficult to get the attention of most of the time, and the male servers genuinely look like they hate their job and all the customers. The food is good but it took a very long time to come to our table. I’ve been here a lot before and I recommend it to everyone, so it really is shame we had such an unpleasant evening.

I hadn’t visited for a while but have been many times before. I’m glad I ignored some recent reviews. The food is as good as it has always been and yes the menu has changed but a restaurant can’t keep the same menu forever. I had the hickory burger, the burger itself was spot on, the brisket was great and the onion rings were perfect. The burnt end nuggets were amazing! This is a restaurant to visit if you want BBQ’d meat and burgers etc. If you want deserts and went to Red Dog then you went to the wrong place. Staff are friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. Great food and great music. You won’t be disappointed.

Have been visiting Red Dog at Hoxton square since they launched, but we had a long hiatus since 2020 (boo-hiss). Me and 4 mates, all BBQ lovers with an assortment of eggs and offsets to smoke at home came for a catch up. Buffalo wings have always been a stalwart starter at RD, the burned end nuggets are an amazing addition to the menu, and the sausage platter all went down well; great spice levels in the morcilla. Shared a platter and some full cuts for mains; brisket was excellent, other cuts great, pork ribs were the only slight let down without much flavour- sauce to the rescue. Great service from our lovely waitress who had to put up with our table's antics, all in all glad to be back to a great venue with some great meat dishes.

At 12:30 on a Sunday the restaurant was quiet and near empty. Service was prompt and personable. The food was plentiful and tasty but could have been warmer.

The service was brilliant and prompt and the guys were welcoming and friendly, they even told us about puppy yoga across the road and showed us a puppy!!

Red Dog Saloon never fails to deliver on a great meal. Portions are healthy and food is delicious and fresh. We ordered the platter of mixed grill and still took left overs home.

I arrived ahead of the rest of my party and was seated. When they arrived, they were told there was no booking in my name, so I had to go and show them to the table. The food was generally good, although the chicken in the chicken & rib combo was very over cooked and so dry as to be inedible. We pointed this out to the wait staff, who shrugged and said they would tell the chef. Service wasn't particularly quick, but there was a large group seated nearby requiring attention. We spent quite a lot of money and didn't really feel it was worth it.

Took my partner and 2 kids everybody was sick at home after this meal apart from my daughter who only had chips luckily.

If you’re craving the perfect American steak experience in London, look no further. Also, best burgers. Period! The staff is on point. They make you fall in love with the place.

Good was excellent and tasty lacking a bit of salt though. The brisket was tasty but a bit dry but this isn't an American all day smoke house so that makes sense.

We came here for a late lunch yesterday and the restaurant was very quiet. Got off to a good start with a friendly welcome. The waitresses were helpful in taking our order. Sadly it went downhill from there. Food was incredibly slow to come. By the time we’d been in the restaurant an hour we were chasing our main courses (having asked for all food to be brought out as soon as it’s ready - we were starving and one us is T1 diabetic and had low blood sugar levels). After an hour in we’d had just the fried oysters (which were the best part of the meal). Then a very long wait so we chased things and the waitress admitted there weren't many people in the kitchen. We asked for a complimentary drink. Almost immediately our food arrived, delivered by a miserable looking server and all of it luke warm. It was underwhelming to say the least. The burnt-end nuggets were especially bad and barely got eaten. (Cold and chewy). However just as we were about to eat, an angry manager appears, waving some bit of paper around and denying we’d been waiting that long. It’s quite unbelievable that you run a restaurant by picking an argument with customers just as they’re about to eat their long awaited food. This really p*ssed us off. An simple apology would have been a better approach. We were well aware of how long we’d been there, so to start arguing about this was just ridiculous and unprofessional. Whatever time was on his ticket was irrelevant - and who knows when the order had been put through to the kitchen. He then stormed off waving his arms around when I asked him to leave us alone to eat. All in all a horrible and expensive lunch experience with a bad attitude from management. Given two stars for the simple reason that our waitress when returning from her break was apologetic and understanding about the situation - the guy could learn a thing or two from her about how to talk to customers. Naturally we didn’t pay the service charge as we simply couldn’t after such a lousy experience.

Most expensive trash food I’ve ever paid for 2 adults 2 kids ( teens) £200 bill And the food was terrible rather of ate at McDonalds Would mind if the price of food more of a price that’s suited the standard of food given but for dry meat burnt over done chicken. We went to the Red dog saloon in Hoxton square expecting a delicious American style meaty lunch. I was with friends and we hadn't seen each other for a long time, so it was going to be a celebratory lunch - instead it turned out to be a disappointing unappetising one! We ordered baked oysters, meat ends (can't remember the name) Two plates of ribs and MacCheese. There was obviously staff problems in the kitchen (confirmed by a waitress) as we had to wait nearly an hour for most of the food to arrive. When the food was delivered it was by a surly, miserable cook who wasn't in the least personable. The oysters were overcooked and tasted of old cooking oil. The meat ends were truly horrible. I had the ribs which had little flavour, were fatty and were slightly under done and the MacCheese was stodgy and unappetising. i asked for two complimentary drinks to help appease our discontent. An AGGRESSIVE man turned up at the table waving a food docket and proceeded to have an argument with my friend. Really? Is this kind of aggressive banter considered customer service these days. APPALLING. A personable waitress/manageress? came over at the end of our meal and apologised the delays. But with restaurants and eating out becoming more expensive, one expects a little nod towards customer appeasement and pleasure! Needless to say - WE WON'T BE BACK!!!

Food and service was amazing, only criticism was the tables are too short. We were a party of five and it was very tight one side, as we were put in a booth, and the tables are fixed so you have to shimmy out. Other than that it was amazing.

I have been here many times in the past and have always held it in high regards. I went today and it was a let down. After telling my son 15yob how amazing it was I was left embarrassed. The menu has changed and become overly fancy, which wasn't needed. The atmosphere wasn't the same and the food was terrible compared to how it used to be. The meat tasted and looked like it had never been near a barbecue, pale soggy and cold and it's meant to be a barbecue restaurant the crispiest part was the fries which I am glad I ordered because the wings were cold and soaked in buffalo sauce until they were soggy. The pork shoulder was sloppy and plain and pulled pork was too fatty. The ribs looked the part but was let down by the undercooked texture which was more like pork belly fat than rib meat. The only up side was the polite young lady that served us. £36 per person for a platter that seemed a little small for 3 of us. For the money i will be going somewhere else in future. Red dog you have lost the dog within you.

Second visit and food was even better, the sausage platter (especially the one that tastes like stuffing) was lit… We’ll be back!

Food was great but they can’t even print a menu properly, my friend ordered a plate and I ordered a hamburger and they charged 2 plates. On the menu it says the price for one person but they charged for 2 ??? Wtf Also we had made it very clear to the waitress, but still they charged however they felt like it. It would make a lot of difference and less bad reviews about it if you could just specify on the menu that the plate is for 2 not for 1 person only. AND THAT YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR 2 even though we asked for 2 different items.

Waited 1hr for a cold greasy burger. Took one bite and left. Avoid- update following responses from RedDag manager- typical lies from unprofessional individual running a so-called restaurant. We had one bite before calling the server back. If as the RedDog manger clams we had “consumed most of your meal before requesting a full refund” why would you offer to replace the meal??? Normal restaurant managers will offer to take part or all of it off the bill or complimentary drinks. As a fraud investigator let’s hope our paths don’t cross again.

Came here on a date night recently ! It’s very small inside but the atmosphere and decor are lovely. The staff are really friendly which is great. Me and my partner got a sharing platter and omg all of it was amazing. Best buffalo wings I’ve ever tasted! Everything was delicious …. I can’t wait to go back! Also Mac and cheese is a MUST!

Food was great. Four of us had a platter of different things.. everything was fantastic and tasted so good. Will go back for sure and recommend.
