Liz was a great host, told us about the specials which we really enjoyed. Restaurant has a great vibe and ambience the Sunday roast is amazing. Quality food and great service.

Avoid. It’s a ‘restaurant’ and a bar/club downstairs in the basement. Some of the staff are unfriendly, the food is unauthentic. The menu is illegible, writing in a cursive type face at 8- or 9-point size, and around ‘200’ items.

If you’re craving the perfect American steak experience in London, look no further. Also, best burgers. Period! The staff is on point. They make you fall in love with the place.

This is the best BBQ I have ever had! It’s now my favourite spot for an old fashioned and ribs. Great service, will definitely be back soon! Thanks guys

We went to the Red dog saloon in Hoxton square expecting a delicious American style meaty lunch. I was with friends and we hadn't seen each other for a long time, so it was going to be a celebratory lunch - instead it turned out to be a disappointing unappetising one! We ordered baked oysters, meat ends (can't remember the name) Two plates of ribs and MacCheese. There was obviously staff problems in the kitchen (confirmed by a waitress) as we had to wait nearly an hour for most of the food to arrive. When the food was delivered it was by a surly, miserable cook who wasn't in the least personable. The oysters were overcooked and tasted of old cooking oil. The meat ends were truly horrible. I had the ribs which had little flavour, were fatty and were slightly under done and the MacCheese was stodgy and unappetising. i asked for two complimentary drinks to help appease our discontent. An AGGRESSIVE man turned up at the table waving a food docket and proceeded to have an argument with my friend. Really? Is this kind of aggressive banter considered customer service these days. APPALLING. A personable waitress/manageress? came over at the end of our meal and apologised the delays. But with restaurants and eating out becoming more expensive, one expects a little nod towards customer appeasement and pleasure! Needless to say - WE WON'T BE BACK!!!

We came here for a late lunch yesterday and the restaurant was very quiet. Got off to a good start with a friendly welcome. The waitresses were helpful in taking our order. Sadly it went downhill from there. Food was incredibly slow to come. By the time we’d been in the restaurant an hour we were chasing our main courses (having asked for all food to be brought out as soon as it’s ready - we were starving and one us is T1 diabetic and had low blood sugar levels). After an hour in we’d had just the fried oysters (which were the best part of the meal). Then a very long wait so we chased things and the waitress admitted there weren't many people in the kitchen. We asked for a complimentary drink. Almost immediately our food arrived, delivered by a miserable looking server and all of it luke warm. It was underwhelming to say the least. The burnt-end nuggets were especially bad and barely got eaten. (Cold and chewy). However just as we were about to eat, an angry manager appears, waving some bit of paper around and denying we’d been waiting that long. It’s quite unbelievable that you run a restaurant by picking an argument with customers just as they’re about to eat their long awaited food. This really p*ssed us off. An simple apology would have been a better approach. We were well aware of how long we’d been there, so to start arguing about this was just ridiculous and unprofessional. Whatever time was on his ticket was irrelevant - and who knows when the order had been put through to the kitchen. He then stormed off waving his arms around when I asked him to leave us alone to eat. All in all a horrible and expensive lunch experience with a bad attitude from management. Given two stars for the simple reason that our waitress when returning from her break was apologetic and understanding about the situation - the guy could learn a thing or two from her about how to talk to customers. Naturally we didn’t pay the service charge as we simply couldn’t after such a lousy experience.

I have been here many times in the past and have always held it in high regards. I went today and it was a let down. After telling my son 15yob how amazing it was I was left embarrassed. The menu has changed and become overly fancy, which wasn't needed. The atmosphere wasn't the same and the food was terrible compared to how it used to be. The meat tasted and looked like it had never been near a barbecue, pale soggy and cold and it's meant to be a barbecue restaurant the crispiest part was the fries which I am glad I ordered because the wings were cold and soaked in buffalo sauce until they were soggy. The pork shoulder was sloppy and plain and pulled pork was too fatty. The ribs looked the part but was let down by the undercooked texture which was more like pork belly fat than rib meat. The only up side was the polite young lady that served us. £36 per person for a platter that seemed a little small for 3 of us. For the money i will be going somewhere else in future. Red dog you have lost the dog within you.

Came here on a date night recently ! It’s very small inside but the atmosphere and decor are lovely. The staff are really friendly which is great. Me and my partner got a sharing platter and omg all of it was amazing. Best buffalo wings I’ve ever tasted! Everything was delicious …. I can’t wait to go back! Also Mac and cheese is a MUST!

Food was great but they can’t even print a menu properly, my friend ordered a plate and I ordered a hamburger and they charged 2 plates. On the menu it says the price for one person but they charged for 2 ??? Wtf Also we had made it very clear to the waitress, but still they charged however they felt like it. It would make a lot of difference and less bad reviews about it if you could just specify on the menu that the plate is for 2 not for 1 person only. AND THAT YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR 2 even though we asked for 2 different items.

Waited 1hr for a cold greasy burger. Took one bite and left. Avoid- update following responses from RedDag manager- typical lies from unprofessional individual running a so-called restaurant. We had one bite before calling the server back. If as the RedDog manger clams we had “consumed most of your meal before requesting a full refund” why would you offer to replace the meal??? Normal restaurant managers will offer to take part or all of it off the bill or complimentary drinks. As a fraud investigator let’s hope our paths don’t cross again.

Best customer service me and my partner have ever had. Our server Jeremy made us feel comfortable straight away and the two other staff members ( one being the manager I believe) working were lovely too!

Make sure you bring your appetite when you come to the Red Dog Saloon. Great choices on the menu, large portions, and very tasty. It's a little expensive, in my opinion, but still worth visiting, maybe for a special occasion.

The food was great but the experience was tarnished by poor management. My friends ordered ribs which were on the menu at £45 and when the bill came it was £75 (full rack pork ribs). When the manager came to speak to us he informed us that it is actually £75 and there’s nothing he could do. Originally he was asking if we were sure that our menus said £45 and suggested we had read the menu wrong. Eventually he admitted that their menus had been printed with the wrong price and they had manually edited most of them and must have missed a few but that it wasn’t his fault, they provided a large meal and quality meat, therefore we should pay the extra £30. In the end, he agreed to amend the bill but had been very confrontational. To us it was obvious that the price should be corrected, we wouldn’t have ordered it in the first place had we known the price. They should ensure their menus are correct before giving them to customers. Aside from that, I have a nut allergy and wasn’t informed that I couldn’t have the coleslaw until everyone’s orders had arrived and my friend who is lactose intolerant had her meal arrive smothered in cheese and had to send it back and wait another 20 minutes while everyone else ate their food. This being said, they were very busy and compared to the £30 drama, not our biggest concern. The service charge is 12.5% which we only paid because the waiter and waitress were lovely. Honestly appalled by how the manager spoke to us. All in all, great food overshadowed by poor service from management.

The restaurant was qiuet as it was mid week , but i see it ass the the chef has more time to prepare your order. First time tasting a brisket sandwich, and I was not disappointed. The cocktail could have been severed in bigger classes, but overall, the service and meal were to a good standard, and I will be returning.

Shame on prices of burgers you don't get fries/chips with it. Gotta buy separately

Having been to the red dog saloon many times over the last 10 years or so I have found that the service, menu and value has gone down massively where as there was once an attitude to accommodate there now is nothing and also the menu has become narrower and gives far less value for money

Booked ahead, arrived on time to be told table not ready. Waited 15min at the bar and finally given a table, ordered then waited about 40mis for the food arrived. The bugger was cold to the touch and very greasy, same with the chips. I suspect the oil hasn’t been change for some time. Customer service?? NONE the manager was patronising. Worst experience ever.

We waited an hour for the worst burgers of our lives. Greasy, cold and tasteless. The fries were undercooked too. Service started out friendly but became defensive when we complained. But in their favour, they did agree not to charge us - since we had literally had one bite each. (My husband, by the way, will eat almost anything) Oh, and why is the menu written in tiny, curling font? The lights are low, and though my eyesight is fine, it’s a struggle to see what anything is.

What an amazing dining experience! This place exceeded all of my family's expectations. The food was delicious and plentiful, the mocktails were yummy and the service was second to none. We loved everything about it, well done to all the staff both front of house and behind the scenes, you have something pretty special here!

It was a really nice experience I really loved it, celebrated my 21st and it was my first time there, really enjoyed the food so did my friends enjoy it.

If anyone is wondering if it's authentic, it is. I am originally from the American south and everything from the decor to the food is about as close to southern BBQ that you will find in London. I don't know if the head chef is from the U.S. but would not be surprised if they are. Come here if you want to revive memories from "home". Pay no attention to food snobs from Texas. Their ego is big but their palette is not.

The best BBQ food in the area, from the beef ribs to the brisket, and everything in between. The drinks are well crafted by the excellent bar staff, but the real winner here is the food. There are an abundance of options, and I recommend trying something you wouldn't normally, even if it's just a starter. For example, the deep fried oysters are a stunning way to start the meal. The portions are huge as you'd expect, and the monthly specials are always a hit. This is a thoroughly recommended spot.

Me and my friend decided to come Red Dog Saloon as we fancy some brisket and hadnt been here for a over a year or more. Service was ok (although part order wasnt correct but anywho mistakes happens). My biggest disappointment was the meal. We ordered what we usually order- 2 brisket sandwiches,mac&cheese & chicken strips. I am not sure if the chef is changed, the brisket sandwich has colesaw on it, not on the side but on it which was straightaway a disappointment and then the brisket was unbearably salty that we couldn’t eat it. Mac&cheese was so runny, it looked like mac with cheese soup. I added the brisket from my sandwich to it which made both more edible. We ordered hot chicken strips and i remember them tender and fully flavour but these weren’t really seasoning. So overall disappointed and wont be ever coming back.

Only note to take into consideration is toilets are downstairs for people with vision problems or walking problems. Food was fantastic and huge portions so very good value for money

The best Jamaican restaurant I have eaten at in London. The cocktails and dishes are excellent. The service is pretty quick and everyone is super friendly and friendly there. I will definitely return there when I go to London. It’s value for money.

All good is amazing. Huge portions. We over ordered but we’re able to take a doggy bag home.

The macaroni cheese could’ve done with an extra 2 mins as was al dente. Some of the meat was very greasy. However some of the meat was delicious, as was the chips. The service was ok. I won’t say about one incident but upon finishing our meal it took ages be acknowledged to try and get the bill. Didn’t get offered any dessert menus either. It’s a shame because it’s my third visit and I really enjoy it normally.

Extremely disappointing. We ordered the Texas meat tray. All of the meat options (brisket, ribs etc.) were extremely fatty. I know this type of meat needs the fat to cook and become tender but it was so fatty it was jelly like, leaving most of the meat inedible. The mac and cheese and homemade ice tea were delicious but that was about it. The BBQ sauce they served it with was also pretty horrible. I’ve eaten many bbq sauces in my 30 years but never have a tasted one like this, it didn’t even have a resemblance of bbq sauce. I asked for some buffalo and was given a tiny pot and was charged an extra £1 which I thought was cheeky considering how expensive the meat tray was £40per person! Annoyingly we ordered 2 ice teas then started looking at food and saw that the meal we ordered came with free ice tea. I was told it wasn’t the same size as the ones I ordered so would still need to pay for them. I thought this is quite bad and the server should have asked us what we intended to order before giving us the ice tea to prevent us having to pay for ice tea that should have come free. Having said that the servers were friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. Just feel very let down by this place and quality of food isn’t good enough for the price. Won’t be returning

The worst Philly Cheese Steak I have ever had in my life. That thing should be illegal and off the menu. The smoked stuff is great, but take that disgusting monstrosity off the menu for god sake. The waiter of course didn’t charge me for it, but your restaurant deserve more.

Me and my team came here for a meal out and we’re not disappointed! We had the platters split between us all and the food was amazing, the beef rib was huge! Brisket was juicy with nice crispy edge, smoked sausage was unreal! The creamed corn was fantastic as was the pulled pork and brisket beans! What can I say we loved it all, it is definitely not right on portions here so be prepared for a big plate of delicious food. I had the red dog lager which was lovely too. Would 100% recommend and I’m now trying to find another reason to come back to London to eat here!

Incredibly expensive for an average experience. The menu looks much more detailed than what you actually get on the plate and the choice for beers is extremely limited.

We went to Red Dog Saloon last night and although it was fairly quiet, the service was excellent and the food was incredible. Left feeling rather full but very satisfied. Excellent cocktails. All around a great experience.

The wait staff were great, proactively giving suggestions for drinks and easy to catch an eye. We also really enjoyed the commitment to the Wild West style decor with the buffalo skulls/horns on the walls. In general chill weekend vibes and not too busy. The burger, chicken tenders, oysters, burnt end mash and creamed corn were all good. The mac & cheese was not so great and the non alcoholic drinks options were a bit limited unfortunately. Nice spot overall.

We had a great time here last night. We ordered the Oregon platter and some burgers and they were amazing. The meat was really well cooked and tender as well as being delicious! Our waitress was super friendly and fun making sure that our friend who had lactose intolerance was looked after also. Very much recommended to look forward to coming again!

We needed a place with good food, good service and a great atmosphere, I booked the Red Dog Saloon due to its location and menu. Not having been here before and dining with great friends who were visiting from Aussie we were all delighted with everything. It was a great night.

Went last minute, no reservations but was seated quickly. Service is on point, professional, friendly, informative and felt welcome. Food was delicious, seasoned, tasty, hot, great choice and prices very reasonable. We had the Oregon platter and would definitely recommend it. I actually got severe thigh cramps during dinner and staff were very attentive and helpful. Will certainly return.

Despite booking in advance, we were given a terrible table right under two gigantic speakers from a hired house DJ, blasting at ridiculous volumes. We couldn’t hear each other speak and all other tables were full so couldn’t move. Service was not great, messed up drinks orders, inattentive and took 25 minutes to order food.

Incredible! Service was brilliant from start to finish, friendly and really helpful - explaining the menu and what all the items were on the platter when it arrived. Food was soo good, my partners always wants a meat platter and I always fancy a burger so to be able to order a platter that included a burger was great. The meat was melt in the mouth and full of smoky flavour. Burgers cooked perfectly, and even the sides like Mac and cheese were delicious! The fact desserts are free is also amazing… probably because no one can ever manage one after all the meat!! We definitely didn’t, but the food was such good value for money! If you’re a smokehouse lover I really recommend this place - very confused about the negative reviews it’s received!

Started off a bit rocky when we were given a table too small for 9 people with only 8 seats, it was very busy at the time so we thought it would be an issue to have more room but we were offered an alternative downstairs which was perfect. It was extremely loud in the main restaurant, considering it was a Saturday night and with a dj there too so take that into account if your considering a booking on that day specifically, it’ll be hard to hear people around you. Once moved, I couldn’t fault a single thing. Our waitress Amanda was super attentive, patient when people wanted more information about the menu and just a genuinely lovely person. As a chef in the industry, I can say confidently she was the best server I’ve had in years. The food was amazing, definitely not style over substance, accurate to what you see online and just as delicious. I highly recommend the gooey louis burger! My husband who’s birthday we were celebrating that night, really wanted an Long Island iced tea and even though it wasn’t on the menu, they were able to make it on request which he appreciated so much and tasted amazing, the pornstar martini was also a solid favourite at our table. A rare 10/10 for me, a gem of a find. Thank you to Amanda, the bartender which I didn’t catch the name of and the chefs for making my husband’s birthday one to remember. All my family and myself will DEFINITELY be back as soon as possible!

Music is great, food is amazing size spent £280 For 4 people I suppose you could say it was expensive but when you value what you get it’s incredible. The services was good the bartender was giving some good entertainment while mixing up. The food was amazing cocktails cheap and good. Also had a guy ask for £2.80 for a glass of wine of the street made up to the atmosphere great experience here today.

We booked a table for 2 adults and 2 children, noting on the booking form that it was my daughter’s birthday. I completely forgot that I’d added this information until some of the waiting staff came over singing happy birthday with a dessert for my daughter, after we had finished our main course. Such a lovely and thoughtful touch. The food was excellent. The fries were delicious, as were the chicken goujons and the burgers were definitely some of the best we have ever had. The service was fantastic - really friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value for money for a central London restaurant and highly recommended!!

Decor and food options says saloon but pricing and the style of menu is for expensive central london restaurant. Also sides like the slaw at 5.50 and burnt end mash at 7.50 were average and not worth the money. Nice enough but very expensive for what it is.
