Smashing Saturday lunch .. it’s like sitting in your living room… very comfortable afternoon, great for meeting friends. Great menu, lots of choice. Service great as usual.

Had a lovely post graduation meal here with a big group and it was absolutely lovely. The food was really delicious and the service was top par, everyone was super sweet and quick despite the big group. Very well coordinated. The decor was and the atmosphere were also very nice and warm. Would 100% recommend, will definitely be back!

We recently celebrated our wedding in the private dining area, and it was absolutely perfect. The decor was stunning, and the courtyard was a great space for fizz and canapés. The staff were fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly. We couldn't have asked for a more memorable experience. Highly recommend for any special occasion!

Good service and had delicious meals 😋

Loud children - this normally isn't a place for small children. Frankly, it's on the parents. It ruined the atmosphere and was quite distracting from across the restaurant.

Had the Sunday roast & it was excellent veg cooked to perfection as well. Staff friendly & welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Would absolutely recommend this restaurant! It was an amazing experience! A fantastic introduction to a Cullen skink! The staff are amazing and great at service, the atmosphere was cosy and intimate for each table which was perfect for a cold evening and to top it off the food was out of this world! I wish we had one back home!

Great atmosphere, great service, friendly staff, good food

Restaurant located in a somewhat hidden street in the university area. You enter a truly welcoming and warm environment, we hadn't booked a table but they made us sit right away. We ordered initial drinks and then a main course (deer fillet and goose fillet) both exceptional, the meat very soft and very tasty. The service is courteous, we even found an Italian waitress to have a chat with!! We highly recommend coming to dinner here to be pampered after a long day 🤩

Really enjoyed my food, and great service

I travel solo. And I like to eat! In Edinburgh at The Kitchin and in Inverness at the River House, i enjoyed a wonderfully sited table where I could people watch and see the choreography of the staff in production of the entertainment of dining. The dane for other “lesser” restaurants. At the Bothy I was put in a “passageway”, nowhere near other diners, but lots and lots of waitstaff rumbling by my table, the only table in this passage between two dining rooms. My service was perfunctory and spotty. I felt like an afterthought. Maybe not a place for choreography, but not a place for solo diners either. I generally tip well, but not here.

We booked the Sunday roast lunch, but not sure we would return here. The food was mediocre - there was oil standing in the bottom of the Yorkshire pudding, the meat was chewy and the potatoes had a weird texture, as if they weren’t made from fresh potatoes. Lastly, they gave us a table in the back of the restaurant at not a very nice spot, despite us having booked the lunch a week in advance. If you are booking in advance and never visited before - definitely ask for a table at the front of the restaurant!

Very disappointed I this restaurant very over price food we had a 3 course the starters were ok the mains very bad meet was very chewy my partner couldn’t even eat hers and for the desert one was nice the other was disgusting would never go back plus it cost over £140 pound sorry plus 2 glasses of wine and plus didn’t feel well the next morning stomach was very bubble and sore would not recommend at all

Very good food (first and best Haggis we tried) and nice setting

This place came recommended by an acquaintance, but it ended up being a major disappointment. Dinner menu was bland and unimaginative - we had chicken supreme, sea bass and buffalo mozzarella. Elderflower drink was overly diluted and we were charged for a second beverage in order to make it right. Inattentive waitress was incongruous with an upscale dining experience. So much for our 20th wedding anniversary celebration that we had planned for months…

Our first visit for Sunday lunch really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere, will deffo be back thank you , my only point is I never picked up on sides , I wish I had ordered more veggies as they are pretty scarce on the plate that comes with the roast .

Excellent restaurant, tasty and exquisite food, in a very beautiful setting. I recommend if you are passing through Glasgow. Easy to access via the metro.

Service was professional and attentive. The overall dining experience was let down by a cold and hard sticky toffee pudding! Would definitely recommend it, but I would advise you to skip the sticky toffee pudding!

That was one of the greatest experiences in last 2 years in restaurants. Thanks a lot for having us there.

Pleasant terrace, friendly service, tasty Cullen stick but very expensive price (almost 3 pounds more compared to the price of a Cullen skink found in the same street or even in the old town of Edinburgh).

Service great, atmosphere great, food, wine and whisky excellent.... loved it!! Everything again excellent, wedding meal and drinks...... all served impeccably. Probably the best restaurant in Glasgow.

The place is very nice, the waiters dressed as Scottish, the menu is very different, elaborate sticks with very strong flavors, I ordered the lamb, very delicious, but heavy and my wife ordered the pork, equally delicious but very heavy. If you like different food, this place is for you.

Had dinner and drinks with friends here: the food was creative and delicious (a rare combination, I suspect). Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself was a pleasure to dine in (exceptionally clean toilets too: always a bonus).

we went based on the rating after the graduation of a good friend to Bothy. Based on the first impression, we had some high expectations maybe. Looking at the rather limited lunch option I went for the burger. so the easy lunch, but again a good restaurant proof quality preparing simple things good. the uuuhhh we are fancy and put brie on top doesnt help if you use a cheap meat patty which has the consistency of a snow tire. Service was quick and friendly, its also kind of nice inside, I just dont like the tables in front of the entrance door, and everybody coming in is walking around me. I really did enjoy the shandy...

Good haggis and vibes. Love orange wine on the menu, definitely will return.

We went here as a party of 5 for our sons graduation. The service was great all the staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. All the food we ordered was really nice and would recommend 👌

A family lunch presented a welcome opportunity to visit Bothy. It is held in high regard for its Scottish cuisine and somewhat decadent interior. A niche I very much enjoy. Firstly the venue is nicely curated with lots of wood, mood lighting, tartans and curious artefacts. It’s upmarket but not in a stifling way. With a large group we were able to take a fairly large sweep of the menu. From risotto, lamb, fish and chicken everything was beautifully cooked and presented. Sides of triple cooked chips and broccoli with sriracha were not just an afterthought and tasted fantastic. Maybe not the heartiest of portions but the quality was there with aplomb. Top marks. My only bug bear would be the service. It’s a personal dislike to have numerous different waiting staff. Understandable at times when it’s very busy but on a fairly steady afternoon service it felt less personal to have numerous unnamed staff helping throughout the meal. But I’m also sure others would be less perturbed. All in all Bothy offers top class cooking at a moderate price level in comfortable surroundings. If I was to return it would be an evening service and maybe kept to a special occasion but with happy patrons on this visit it’s doing the important things right.

This restaurant came highly recommended by multiple friends and it did not disappoint! Cozy and comfortable atmosphere with great service. All of the dishes we ordered were well presented and had great flavor. We tried the haggis and neeps dish, venison, lamb, and salmon - all were quite tasty. We look forward to coming back here again in our next trip to Glasgow!

My main problem was the food. It wasnt necessarily bad but it wasn't anything special. However the price made it not worth it not a bit. Service was pretty good, the people were nice and i liked the interior of the place.

High level and hearty cooking make this a must when looking for a modern take on Scottish cuisine. The decoration and atmosphere create a relaxed and cosy feeling and even the music was a perfect soundtrack. There is also a little garden with a few tables, but you need to be extra lucky to get the rare sunny rainless Scottish day.

Great restaurant, good cuisine and wine list, excellent staff and premises are very clean. Well worth a visit. The Cullen skink is awesome.

It is a good, pretty and cheap restaurant that I haven't enjoyed in days. We went with my son because a colleague had recommended it to him. What success! They have a well-priced menu and a reasonable menu. The wine was somewhat expensive but delicious. We shared a delicate and very well presented Haggis. Each one ordered a starter and a main. I opted for a salmon (rillette) and a saithe (grilled); The first was a feast of flavors and the second allowed me to taste quality fish. We shared two desserts: a toffee pudding that filled you with flavor but overshadowed by a nut tartlet that took your hiccups away. And the best: all in an endearing environment, decorated with exquisite taste, and served by professionals who made you feel special. In short: highly recommended.

Had dinner and drinks here evening of Monday 29th April. Food was outstanding and service was good. Not a fan, however, of the 12.5% discretionary charge added to an already expensive bill. Sure, it’s possible to ask for it to be removed and replaced with a different percentage / amount but I feel like that’s inviting an awkward situation between both customer and staff. Would be five stars if not for this approach.

Staff lovely and nice place to be but food nowhere near good enough for the money. Had two course Sunday Roast. Couldn’t taste the haggis in the haggis bons bons. The roast beef was tough, gravy gelatinous, roast potatoes soft instead of crispy, veg overdone and the Yorkshire puddings were raw in the centre. There’s no excuse and frankly I can’t believe they’re getting any with it, for the £30 paid you can go to Gaucho or Porter & Rye and get change for an infinitely superior roast.

Have been going to the Bothy for many years for all occasions. Went for anniversary Sunday roast dinner. Food was ok at best!!!! Prices are now very expensive for what's on offer sad to say. Changed place!!! although not for better. Certainly will not be rushing back if at all.

Excellent food and drink, I had the venison loin which was absolutely stellar. The only negative criticism I have is that we asked for our bread to be served along with the starters but it came before.

My mum had her 60th birthday in the room upstairs. Great night service was great. There are a few mistakes on the set menu, but it was all really good food and great staff. Recommended.

Mixed reviews, I had the ribeye steak but would normally have a fillet bt no option on the menu. at £41 it was very thin although tasty, chips and spinach also lovely, raspberry mocktail was very sweet and like drinking creamola foam from being a kid. Cheesecake wasn’t a hit, cream wasn’t great and left with a flower taste in my mouth not sure if it was the cress garnish. Coffee was lovely as was the tablet.service and restaurant itself were lovely, the bill was expensive and whilst expect to pay that in Glasgow Westend few things could be better

Long overdue Review. We wanted to try some authentic Scottish food and this place does not disappoint and deserves all the Hype. Been Away from Glasgow. Back now and glad it is still getting such excellent reviews after 8 years.

Went for a Sunday roast (beef) which was great. Service was good, walked in a busy Sunday night with no reservation and was seen to right away. Atmosphere was lovely, food was delicious (sticky toffee pudding was unreal). Would recommend for a nice sit-down meal, spent 40 on roast dinner (surcharge for beef) with dessert and a pint which was fair for the quality of food

Tucked away in an alleyway brimming with Harry-Potterian charm, this restaurant is a laboratory of exquisite flavors. Their impeccably presented dishes, colorful, refined and complex at the same time, make us discover unexplored combinations. A fairly substantial budget to plan for, however, even if vegans and vegetarians will find something to suit them thanks to a special menu dedicated to them. Unmissable 💯.

It’s a lovely restaurant area and the staff are very pleasant. The menu has several vegetarian and vegan 🌱 options which is great, but I think the quality of those courses is probably a bit below the meat dishes. Sunday roast is good.

Amazing place with its unique menu.. It's one of the place you MUST visit in Glasgow.

If you want delicious traditional Scottish food elevated by using good quality ingredients well in Glasgow this is the place to go, it also happens to be the only place in the city where I enjoy fish as someone who isn't a big enjoyer of any seafood that isn't deepfried and served with chips. Here the fish is extremely fresh and perfectly cooked, the time I went it was served in a garlic cream sauce which was perfect however from the couple of times I've gone it's I believe a seasonal menu.

Great place. Good way to get a taste of the Scottish culture including the bagpipes. Vegan food was excellent even though the menu card was very limited in choices.

I went here for the Burns night with a friend and it was a spectacular evening, the atmosphere was wonderful, the staff were really good and attentive. The food was great but not to the standard I would have expected for a higher end restaurant. I loved the haggis, neeps and tatties though the ham hock & lentil soup was just OK. The cranachan cheesecake was quite nice. My friend loved her salmon starter though felt the sticky toffee pudding was a bit heavy. She also thought the haggis was delicious. The whisky flight was very good value for money considering the price of the bottles, I had the Isles one and would recommend it. We also had a few bottles of red wine, the cheaper ones tasted better than the more expensive bottle. I'd definitely go back but would try other options on the menu along with another whisky flight 😀

Food was ok. Busy Saturday night. Nice atmosphere but is quite expensive. Tip is excessive and isn’t written as discretionary on the bill. Bill was £92 so gave £100 gift card which equates to £8 tip.but still got a bill to pay £3 which I presume was for a further tip.quite cheeky when service wasn’t anything special. Wouldn’t return in a hurry

Lovely lunch, with good choices, waiter was excellent.

We came here for Christmas eve dinner and the company were flexible with the payment as were paying separately(they allowed time for us to pay for the meal which had to be paid in full before hand). Sadly parts of the meal were not very nice. The starters were nice however there was a large hair on my daughters bread. She said there was weird stuff on the other side of the bread as though it had been on someone else's plate. The mains roast potatoes were rock hard and the gravy was very sweet. The desserts were nice. I didn't complain as we don't like a fuss and had already paid for the meal itself. I was disappointed as I had suggested the place to my family. Another issue actually was they didn't seem to have our prebooked orders and had to query that we had paid the balance!

Hmmmm....Nice little gem of a place but rather overpriced for what you get. Portion size quite small. 2 courses is £32. I don't think it's worth it. Then there's the 10% service charge they slap on. Stop it! Service charges should be discretionary. Demand that back. I don't think I'll go back.

Christmas Day at the Bothy, a special treat for my daughter and her partner. What a huge disappointment! I feel like I have been duped, had a fraudulent experience. Whoever is responsible for this shocker should be thoroughly ashamed. I want a refund

Lovely meal. You need to ask for the Vegan menu. Vegan haggis and neaps was just delicious. Dessert was ok. It was not too busy despite the Christmas season and we have a great time.
