Fabulous service and atmosphere

The NYE menu is so much worth it!! 😋😋 And the ambiance is simply perfect! Totally recommended either for a drink or for a good meal.

Perfect spot for a quiet evening! The atmosphere was cozy and quiet, with only a few people. The music set the mood beautifully and the waitress was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and came in generous portions — I tried the linguine with seafood and lamb, both of which were absolutely amazing (pictured). Highly recommend!

Delicious food and great quality drinks

We had a Boxing Day dinner here and was disappointed. The food seemed pre cooked and heated up before serving. The vegetables were cool in the middle and dry. Even the ice cream was icy. Although the service was really good and friendly. (Only photo I got was the dessert)

Amazing bottomless brunch at the Botanist. Starter and main, plus a range of cocktails and Prosecco included at a very reasonable price. Our food arrived quickly and the place had a warm ambience. Shout-out to our server Sophie who was courteous and efficient and ensured that we had a wonderful experience. Thank you.

We came here twice during the Christmas period and the food was good both times as was the service. Bit pricey for wine and was a bit chilly tge first time by the door. Overall a good experience.

This is excellent value for money-bottomless bubbles-unlimited drinks (specific but lovely menu), delicious food and a boujie but comfortable atmosphere. Great friendly service (thank you Sophie!) xx

We booked Botanic Bristol for our Christmas Eve dinner and had a mixed experience. The atmosphere was mediocre, nothing particularly festive or warm about it. The staff, unfortunately, seemed absolutely exhausted and lacked the friendly hospitality you’d expect during the holiday season. It felt like they were indifferent, as if their attitude was “take it or leave it.” On the bright side, the food was excellent—tasty and well-prepared, which was the highlight of the evening. However, the Christmas menu, advertised at £35.95, came with numerous hidden charges. If you’re not paying close attention, the final bill can end up being much higher than expected, which felt a bit sly on their part. Overall, while the food was great, the lackluster service and the hidden costs left a sour note. It was a decent experience, but I wouldn’t return.

It's a bit cold in terms of atmosphere. Food is good but service is a bit with "not caring" attitude.

Visited The Botanist in Bristol for Christmas Eve dinner and had a generally pleasant experience. The restaurant itself is quite good—lovely ambiance with a charming, festive atmosphere. The food was well-prepared, nicely presented, and of good quality, though the delivery was on the slower side. Still, for a special occasion like Christmas Eve, the effort in the presentation made it worth the wait. The staff, while polite enough, didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic or engaged. It felt like they were just going through the motions, which took away from the otherwise good vibe of the place. One thing to watch out for is the additional charges. The prices seemed fair at first glance, but there were some hidden charges added to the bill, which left a sour note at the end of the meal. Transparency here could definitely be improved. Overall, I’d rate it 4 out of 5 stars. It’s a nice place to try, and I would recommend it for the food and ambiance. However, I’m not sure I’d return personally. If you’re looking for somewhere to dine in Bristol, The Botanist is worth a visit, but just keep an eye on the bill.

Service was poor. Order was totally messed up. Ordered medium rare, they made rare. Ordered a soft drink, they served a cocktail. Waitress came back twice as what we ordered was not in stock….Food was not nice at all. Disappointed.

Updated post. Recent visit 24/12/2024. Fabulous welcome on arrival. We had reserved a table but we were able to sit down and hour earlier. We opted for fish (cod) and chips and a fillet of sea bass. Both freshly prepared and so tasty. Standard of food wasn't compromised even though it is the party season and it's traditional Christmas lunch. And bottomless brunch day to. The Portion sizes we thought were good for lunch. Lovely atmosphere. Decor and ambience was also lovely and it was nice to actually feel the heating was on really high as it was an extremely chilly day. Our waitress was absolutely lovely and checked with the chef on our allergy requirements. Front of house manager was a welcome site with his happy attitude. Offering all options of dining to us. Unfortunately a change of dish ordered was necessity because we have a mustard allergy. It was in the meat pie not the mash as first thought. The food was reasonably priced however we did feel the House wine by the glass over priced at 14.10 each but it's unusual to offer Pinot noir as a house in my experience so we opted to drank draft peroni.

Came for our Christmas do... bar was busy but it didn't take long to be served. Great deal on cocktails- 2 for £15 and they were good. Pints around 7 quid. We had our own little area for food which was lovely. I had Mushrooms for starter, enjoyed this. The main course- turkey etc was really good, I'm always apprehensive about Christmas do food but the Botanist didn't disappoint! I ordered an extra side of Pigs in blankets - when they came out they were Stuffing in blankets! I asked the waitress if this was the "pigs in blankets" and she said yes... I didn't want to object with my colleagues there so I had them anyway, bit gutted as the one pig in blanket on my plate was yummy. The brownie after was HEAVENLY! I'd return just for that and a nice red wine! Outside space was pretty. Lovely little side area that was covered was also nice. All in all, a great Christmas dinner, and I would definitely return for food in the future. Disappointed I didn't notice the £15 supplement I could've had on my Christmas menu that includes a cocktail and Prosecco! Oh and very nice touch to include Prosecco on the house for larger parties. Had our works Xmas do, first time visit. Highly recommend bottomless brunch, good choice of food full of flavour, a variety of quality drinks and staff were attentive. Thank you, will be coming again.

Booked for 10 people for Christmas dinner. We were lucky enough to get the private dining room which was great. Lots of outside (heated!) space. Honestly one of the tastiest Christmas meals I’ve had, and my colleagues agreed. Veg cooked to perfection, a little pot of gravy on the side and moist turkey! It’s normally so dry at these meals! The crackers were brilliant, a little wooden toy for the Christmas tree as opposed to a rubbish plastic toy or gadget that you never use. Peroni (draft and non alcoholic) was delicious, cold and crisp as it should be. Great location with nearby parking and felt very festive. Thanks to all the staff for their hard work. Editing to add- have been here every year since my review and it has always been amazing. This year, Sophie was the star of the show. Thanks all!

Great food, complete information on allergies, fantastic 30 days aged ribeye, excellent pan-fried sea bass. We shared the panazanella salad as starter. Wow.

Had a reservation, but despite this was left waiting for 30 minutes as the table was not ready. To make up for this I was offered a free drink by way of an apology but when the bill arrived I noticed this had not been honoured. Once seated the service felt like I was being rushed to order, eat and be done. Ordered the prawn, chorizo and crab linguine which was very watery and unfortunately rather bland with little flavour. Overall, not an enjoyable experience, and as you can see they don't seem to care. Generic response, no attempt to address any of the concerns raised.

The atmosphere was great and the place had lovely decor. Service of food was slow (had to wait 30mins for starters) Service in general was great and staff always came over to check if we needed anything. Overall price of the food was great and would definitely come again.

Party of 35 for 3 course Christmas meal, absolutely smashed it on the organisation, delivery, food quality, all our needs were taken care of nothing was too much trouble. It’s nice, but only nice. Atmosphere and service is fine, but food was a bit of a let down and smacked Of indifference my the chef. For example, my main course of pie and mash: great pie but obvs bought in, mash which was slightly dry from the microwave, slightly under veg and cold (not even like warm) gravy. I had a “mini” dessert which was half a lemon tart (so less mini more half a normal portion) smothered in a berry compote that had almond essence in, and some small meringue pieces on top. I’d only come back here again if I could be assured that the kitchen cared more about the food.

Birthday celebration, which seemed to mean nothing. The whole experience was rushed and felt like a swift turnaround to release the table for next seating. The server wasn't that warm and welcoming, so did little to make the experience feel special. The food service felt rushed, with main courses turning up, whilst our starter plates were still on our table.

We were waiting for more than an hour for food. And 15 mins to even get noticed to get a drink. Short staffed and they do everything half arsed. Save your money go somewhere else

Visited The Botanist during the weekend for a Sunday Roast. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was great. Not so busy at around 3 pm in the afternoon and service was quick. Would definitely recommend for a family meal or celebration as well as they have private areas where you can enjoy with your family / friends.

Sunday lunch November 2024, update: Sunday 2024 roasts were pleasant but not the best in Bristol. The service was pleasant but slightly disconnected, almost distracted. Maybe just an off day. I will go back but could do better. Pleasant eatery in the centre of Bristol with very large and attractive bar and a really appealing restaurant. Outside tables too. Interesting menu, with an eclectic mix of dishes, ranging from stir fry to pizza, fishcakes to chicken ceasar salad. You are bound something you like and all served with a smile.

It was for Sunday Lunch at starting at 1pm. We had the private dining area beside the bar. It was unexpected but brilliant as we were 7 adults and 2 children celebrating my stepson's 50th birthday. This helped a lot with two young children. It was so easy to have a tab at the bar for drinks and we were so well looked after! Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I brought balloons and a cake. When we finished our meal, they brought in the cake, all lighted and it was all done perfectly. We ordered some ice cream servings to go with it which came right away so we could 'dig in'. After when the children were taken home, we continued to enjoy our special space and some of us had a couple of after dinner drinks and left at our leisure. Now that was amazing... I don't ever remember being able to do that in a pub or restaurant before. The food was excellent, but our biggest impression was the helpfulness and lovely attitude of the staff. We will certainly be back. There are lots of other offerings on the menu other than Sunday Lunch. That is really appealing as some of us are not always up for a big meal. Cheers again for a great family day and we will definitely be having our family occasions there in the future!

SO DISAPPOINTED. Came with my boyfriend who is visiting from home and therefore hardly see, came for a Sunday roast and were sorely let down. Firstly my wellington roast dinner and some sides were stone cold and had to be sent back to be reheated. We were not told that there was no Yorkshire puddings left until AFTER our meals were brought out and we had to ask. The amount of food included for the price is horrendous, dauphinois potatoes were £4.50 and it was literally ONE POTATO. So disappointed service was also terrible we were not checked on once and had to ask the waiting staff ourselves to come over to us so we could ask for our meals to be reheated. Awful for the price, won’t be returning.

What an amazing place for a 40th celebration! 17 of us had a great time, and the drinks were flowing 🍸 🍹 🍷!! Would definitely recommend. Thanks to Hisha and the servers who did a fantastic job :)

We and all our guests had a fabulous evening of drinks and buffet dinner on the covered heated terrace for my Birthday party. The evening flowed really well. So many of the guests commented how wonderful the food was - I thoroughly agree - visually impressive, tasted great and also very plentiful! The service both ahead of the event in terms of organisation and the service on the evening was all really great, from very friendly personable staff. All round a pleasure.

Went here once a few weeks ago and the roast was nice, over cooked potatoes and not too keen on cauliflower cheese- (more like sweet rice pudding taste) thought it was a one off and as the service was good and very quiet which we like we came back and it was shocking! Sat outside as too overwhelmed with noises inside the music outside was extremely loud. The roast was below average, everything was burnt ( not shown well in photos) we got the extras and they were all over cooked barely edible with the tops of the tenderstem brocolli actually flaking off. Yorkshire pudding completely crumbled where it was over cooked. I complained and said it’s barely edible but we were starving so eating what we can, I I said it’s all so overcooked and dry can I have more gravy- no apology just a comment about it being dry then if it’s overcooked… eventually gravy came out but it was rather cold by then so left. Parsnips and carrots were nice. Won’t be having another roast.

Such a fab visit. Four of us came for bottomless brunch and were absolutely spoilt. Katie was a delight and ensured we always had drinks. The food was delicious, especially the seabass. Kye had also been very accommodating who I had spoken to earlier in the week to move my booking due to my friends train being cancelled. Overall a fantastic visit around fabulous people.

We enjoyed both of the starters we had - scallops and chicken liver. For mains we ordered slow cooked pork belly and King prawn linguine. The pork was small and dry while the pasta was like a tomato salad. It was tasty but did not expect it to be like that.
