Bo’s Beach Cafe in South Hams

this was a very pleasant surprise! Given the gorgeous location in exclusive and rather expensive Salcombe, I wrongly expected that the very reasonable prices at Bo's would lead to a fairly mediocre dining experience. Very happy to be proved wrong. The food was fresh, tasty and well presented. I also noticed that they don't charge extra if you want oat milk in your coffee. This is a bit of a bug bear with me just now, so extra points to Bo's for this.

What a fantastic find, and a view to die for! Even on a wet rainy day it was just wonderful to have breakfast and coffee looking out over the beautiful beach and out to sea. Reasonably priced breakfast menu mostly breakfast baps & nothing too pretentious. Great tasting coffee. Parking may be an issue, we parked up near the national trust and walked down. Dogs welcome.

Just the best beach cafe ever!! Super, dedicated, friendly staff, great atmosphere, delicious food. The best place to eat pizza, overlooking beautiful South Sands bay. The pizza is fabulous and the Coronation Chicken sandwiches are the best you'll ever taste!

Just had a really tasty brunch, asked for a keto breakfast and they came up trumps without fuss. Can't ask for more. Stunning views to boot!

Delightfully located in the old South Sands Lifeboat Station with commanding views across the Ria and out to sea, outdoor seating on the old slipway with full sun til late afternoon, limited covered seating if its raining. Food is prepared freshly, try the sandwiches ... I really enjoyed the Coronation Chicken, but there's a good range prepared daily on site by Kim and the crew. Hot and cold food, Paninis, crisps, Devon pasties, drinks and a whole range of soft and alcoholic drinks as well as teas and Coffees. But, for a real treat, as the sun goes down on a hot Summers night, Try the amazing Pizzas, with a beer or a wine, for an unforgettable evening ( Booking needed as extremely popular ! ) Friendly helpful staff, Beach friendly pricing and a range of child friendly chocolate creations and ice creams .... you'll be back !!

Usually I have lunch at South Sands Hotel or the Harbour Beach Club, but I decided to go to Bo’s, nestled in between both, for a change. What a pleasant surprise! I had a lovely salad, for half the price of anything at either of the hotels and enjoyed arguably the best view on the whole beach, from the slipway that gently slopes straight into the sea (Bo’s is an old lifeboat station). It’s the perfect lunchtime spot, but they also serve into the evening also when they start serving pizza from 5pm on the weekends. Parking is limited at South Sands, if you’re not visiting the hotels, so probably best to catch the South Sands Ferry from Salcombe Town, which is also great fun in itself. Highly recommended and you will almost certainly catch the owner, Kim, in the kitchen herself. 👏🏻

This gorgeous beach cafe is right on the beach with stunning views of the estuary. We come here for coffee, breakfast or pizzas. It’s definitely our go to spot. The staff are friendly and the food is great. There is nothing like one of their delicious pizzas after a day on the water. Pre ordering pizzas is highly recommended as they are so popular- says it all really.

Best pizzas around. Love love love Bo’s cafe, great service, friendly staff and you can’t beat their bacon sandwich after a morning swim.

Not a bad place to enjoy some food and south sands view unless you want to spend a bit more and go to the south sands hotel. Pizzas are ok. Coffee is good.

Lovely spot right on the beach in the old lifeboat station. Pizzas freshly made and absolutely gorgeous. Great staff and the view was lovely. Visiting here is recommended.

We stopped here while on a long walk to get some drinks and a light bite. Smoothies were lovely and the freshly prepared sandwiches were delightful. Great place to stop and refuel on a long walk with lovely seating area and views!

Loved the view of the beach along with the delicious food we were served! The Smoothies and Coffees were some of the best drinks i’ve had in a while. We will definitely be going back for more.

My wife had read online about tasty pizzas right on the beach at South Sands so we came along on a very cold and windy evening and ended up having the best meal and evening of our holiday. The pizzas were great, the vibe was really fun, the drinks were strong and we had a great time chatting to the owner. All of us had a really memorable night and will definitely be coming back next time we're in the area, hopefully it will be abit warmer! All of the pizzaz were great, I'd definitely recommend the Mexican which was spicy and had loads of flavour. Thanks to everyone at Bo's for the great food and welcome.

We had a private party here with pizzas and drinks ,wonderful service in a stunning location ! Highly recommend this as a fabulous location for a celebration. Five stars all round !

Great spot to eat lunch just by the sea tractor for the South Sands ferry. Sandwiches and panini available at lunchtimes and we can definitely recommend the chicken, pesto and mozzarella panini.

Very disappointing flat white coffee in disposable cup despite sitting at tables (loads of rubbish left at tables and not collected by staff who were disinterested). Lovely venue and fabulous view so could be great place as good footfall too . Cheese sandwich on next table was prepacked garage takeaway style

Absolutely fantastic beachside cafe/restaurant, wonderful food, drinks and lovely friendly staff at very reasonable prices. An amazing selection of pizzas made to order too some evenings, not to be missed and with the most beautiful view thrown in too, for free :-)

Great little place for some food and drinks the pizza is lush

Perfect little beach cafe - incredibly friendly, professional and helpful staff. Very relaxed atmosphere. Coffee and pastries are nice. Our children loved the amazing hot chocolates with a tower of cream and marshmallows plus the ice cream served in waffle cups! We really enjoyed hiring paddle boards - an hour is perfect for children and the cove shelters you from the elements. Great paddle boards for beginners - wide and easy to balance on. We came back day after day on our holiday! Would have loved to try the pizzas - maybe another time!

If you visit this beach cafe, you will not be disappointed. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The salted caramel brownie is delicious and you’ll want another one! Pizza is amazing and the drinks on offer are plentiful. We will be back!

Popped in for some coffees and cocktails while on the beach. The owners are lovely and made us feel very welcome during our stay. A beautiful building and the view is the best you can get.

OK, Bo's aren't responsible for the fantastic views, but they ARE responsible for the very tasty bacon sandwiches, the unusual, but lovely carrot and courgette cake and well filled selection of other sandwiches and snacks. But our absolute favourite is the pizza with home made cole slaw (check which weekend evenings). Enormous, crispy, tasty base, and plenty of choices of fillings. Staff are really lovely and friendly. If you are anywhere near South Sands, then Bo's Beach Cafe is a must for a visit. Usual hot drinks and a well stocked selection of cold drinks and ice cream. Can't recommend Bo's highly enough, we visit every time we're here on holiday and during the last week or so we have visited too many times to remember; never been disappointed.

Great beach cafe, great food, great service, great views. Prawn salad box is a must, packed with king prawns.

We stumbled across this absolute gem. The pizza was the best we’ve ever tasted. Bombay Sapphire gin in a can was fab too. Staff very friendly and made the whole experience even better. Thank you!

Great picturesque spot based in the old RNLI boat house to sit outside chill out and have a drink and lunch etc whilst the kids play on the beach. Friendly staff with a good selection of light food on the menu. They do pizzas in the evenings too which looked great.

Lovely location, service poor more interested in speaking to friends in the queue, I got a lovely four word service Hi, £6.50, your coffee. Coffee isn't great, would not recommend !

Good provisions considering the location, a touch on the high mark up of prices (both food and equipment hire) but captive audience and all that. Best option for food on South Sands if you don’t want a formal meal.

Nice spot with plenty of food options. Well done for vegan, gf options. Nice salands. Dairy options for ice cream (although didnt try). Not many seats.

Great little business offering good quality food at reasonable prices. The young staff run an impressively efficient operation. The kitchen in the Beach Club & Spa restaurant next door could learn a lot from this young team!

We had great pizzas on our holiday from Bo’s Beach Cafe. We pre ordered the day before. We had The Med and Hawaiian and coleslaw, the food was delicious. Service great too. We ate them on the beach at Bo’s cafe, it was so nice. Would really recommend.

Had lunch and dinner here, the panini’s were delicious and the pizza is well worth ordering. Very busy with limited tables, but plenty of benches along the harbour wall to sit at and eat.

Many thanks for taking in my husband's wallet when he dropped it on the beach from the ferry tractor. Then went to the trouble of phoning the South Sands Ferryman to let us know, almost before we realised it was lost. By the way good drinks with an amazing view. Thanks again.

The staff, the views and the food are all top notch. I just love this beach and this cafe!

Lucky to be staying at a house nearby meant we could pick up eight pizzas to have back at the house that evening. Plenty of toppings, all excellent. Bombay Bad Buoy being a great one for those who like some spice!

Popped over to Bo's while sat on South Sands beach, We had a chicken salad, GF cheese pickle and a childrens ham. They were really good sandwiches, and obviously the setting is brilliant.

Bought coffee, pasties and sarnies. All good quality and served by lovely staff. Good COVID adherences and very satisfied with our beach picnic food.

This cute little beach shack that does pizzas in the evening is the perfect way to end your day in South Sands! Lovely staff and service. Ate our pizzas as the sun went down. Happy customers, thanks Bo’s! :)

Had several sandwiches and Pizzas over the Summer and each one was so tasty - on top of all that you are treated to a view out of this world coupled with the awesome team at Bo's!

Just next to the water ferry landing and in the former lifeboat centre, this little gem looked after us perfectly. Lovely sandwich and sausage roll and later tea and coffee and an amazing Jamaican ginger cake. Served with smiles and kindness.

We were looking out for a place to get lunch and happened to be passing through South Sands when we came across Bo's. Located on the beach right by the South Sands ferry. Was a very popular place with all outside tables being taken. Lunch...

We came for dinner on pizza night. ( Thursday) and we had a great meal. We had a group of veggies, meat eaters and a coeliac and we were all catered for. They even cleaned the kitchen down for the coeliac pizza. Very impressed. Thank you!
