We went for breakfast, i had shakshuka, It was the nicest brwakfast iv ever eaten!!!Brilliant service, brilliant food brilliant prices, very much enjoyed our visit!

We have been here 3 times now and every time we've had a great experience. Had dinner and brunch, today we had brunch and food was delicious as usual. Service is 5* everytime which makes the experience even better. I have coeliac disease so struggle to find places I actually want to eat in Carlilse so was delighted when we found this place. Highly recommended!

This was our first visit and we were very impressed and will definitely return. We were shown to a table in the window and advised we could either scan the QR code, which was displayed on the table, or we could order at the counter. The young man who showed us to our table asked if we had any allergies/dietary requirements and did we need a vegan or gluten-free menu. We visited on a weekday morning and noticed there were several more senior patrons who preferred to order at the counter, but the queue moved quickly. We imagine that using the QR code will be more apparent on weekends/evenings. The food and drinks we ordered were served quickly and the quality and presentation was excellent. The staff we encountered were all courteous, friendly and polite. It was refreshing to see how wheelchair friendly the establishment is.

First time here in Carlisle and in this restaurant. Had a wonderful time here. Nice ambiance. Excellent customer service. Spacious. And most importantly, the food was fantastic! We ordered the lounge breakfast and nasi goreng. As an Asian, I enjoyed its balanced flavour. Will defo recommend to everyone. Great job

Was there over the weekend and the food was very lovely and the aesthetic of the restaurant was great. The manager with the tattoos was very helpful and kind. All the staff were very attentive and friendly.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was great. Food was lovely. Good range of dishes, including vegetarian. Vegan and gluten free also available. It was quiet but pleasantly so. Great music playing in the background. The "bang bang cauliflower" was excellent. Good flavours, just a little bit of chili heat but not too much. My son had the "steak frites" which he said was excellent.

Friendly staff and very dog friendly, highly recommend.

The staff member we spoke with was very helpful in supporting our requests. The salad with feta and lentils we ordered was very tasty.

Friendly and attentive staff. The food is alright but a touch overpriced for what it is. You can order at the counter or via a QR code. We ordered off the brunch menu and had a couple of coffees. The coffees were well made. £10 for a regular full English or £15 for a big one. A positive experience but I don't think I'd rush back as there are better options nearby.

I've been in a couple of times just for drinks. Decided to try the food to as it looked nice. We had a chicken, avocado and bacon burger, and a cowboy smash/mash? Burger and fries. Both are very nice. After we had a cheesecake and a brownie, again, it was very nice. Value for money about what you would expect. Will be back again.

I went into Bordo Lounge on Friday afternoon 23 August and stood next to the sign saying "wait here to be seated" There were 2 members of staff behind the bar area, both of whom made eye contact with me - but they then both chose to ignore me completely. I stood for a while then when it was clear that I wasn't going to be attended to, I walked out. I have given 1 star for everything as I can't give 0 stars. Appalling service, or rather, lack of service.

Nice place to go for good, especially at lunch time or early evening, good menu choice

Easy to walk in and get a table. Friendly, helpful informative staff team. Clean environment. Clean toilets. Good place to pop into for a early dinner. Food was tasty and reasonable portion size. Good range of soft and alcoholic drinks offered.

Had the cow boy smash burger it was one of the best burger I have had also the staff super friendly and the food was ready in now time

Not great. The ciabatta's were pricey and small. The chicken inside mine was cold. There were plenty staff but a lot of them were gathered on a table together. Didn’t feel like I could complain as no one came over to ask how the food was. It wasn’t busy so staff should have been more attentive. Had to get my own cutlery and sauce from the station at the back of the place.

Stopped off half way through a 100 mile bike ride. Tasty food. Quick service. Friendly staff. Great vegan menu - lots of choice.

If you want something different this is the place to be.

Main meals very small, more like starters. Chips cold, steak tiny, macaroni cheese we ordered was large request but was tiny. £33 for a bottle of rose wine, ridiculous prices for food and drinks. I really feel you need to review prices for the amount of or lack of food you get. Food was bland and parts of it cold. Waiters and waitress' lovely though. Think you need a new cook because the lack of taste and presentation of food, requires improvements. It was our first time and last time we will be there. We spent a lot of money but walked away still hungry and went to "Subway"

I visited here with my sister and we ordered the philly cheese ciabatta, to share between us as I can't eat alot due to recent surgery. But oh my gosh it was awful. It was certainly not made fresh on site and was a premade offsite sandwich that was warmed up. It reminded me of something you would get at a service station that you would put in the mircowave. I asked the waitress if it was made fresh or premade and she told me they were bought in premade I did ask her if it had been mircowaved and she said no. But I'm positive it had been warmed up in the mircowave the bread was rubbery and the filling was like slop. I did complain to 2 different members of staff but were just told sorry and they both walked away. For almost £10 for a sandwich, then another £2.55 for fries to go with it, I expected alot more I honestly can't describe how terrible this sandwich was. The fries were slighty undercooked and there was only about 10 fries. It's a shame as the decor of the place is lovely and I was looking forward to trying it out. Staff need more training on how to handle situations where customers aren't happy... I did wait after complaining wondering if maybe a manager would come over instead we were stared at and we left feeling totally unheard and judged for complaining.

Only went in for drinks, menu for food was great for choice and what we saw being brought out looked amazing. Such a chilled venue and worth a visit.

Disappointing. The cowboy smash burger had very small patties, the smallest portion of chips which are frozen chips, the burger was £16.50 but if am honest it was only worth £10 max, I have had better burgers for around £8-10. Also Worse cup of tea known. Far too weak like dish water, and a plastic tea bag, get rid of this please. Waiters are attentive and decor is ok. Website to order is a bit of a faff. But Won't be back. UPDATE. in reply to your reply using a plastic tea bag isn't eco friendly and the tea is horrendous and weak as dish water. And yes I know what a smash burger is, the portion Vs the price it's not worth it, and regardless if the frozen fries are weighed or not the portion is tiny. So maybe you didn't understand my review. Terrible

The food is good as is the coffee. The prices are slightly higher than other establishments. The only negative thing is when using the app to order it asks for a gratuity up front which I find very wrong.

Great meal here as is usual with all the Lounges. Very friendly staff too, however did seem very understaffed, as an example we were left waiting ages to be seated. Still good and would definitely be back

Nice restaurant, with eclectic art on the walls. Staff great, friendly and quick to serve. My streaky bacon sandwich was flavoursome and I enjoyed it........but the coffee! I make better Cappuccino with my Nespresso machine at home, and my daughter's 'Americano' was like dishwater. That's why I only gave 2 Stars. So, up your game with the Coffees, and a visit to the Bordo Lounge would be a perfect place for a respite after a heavy shopping day in Carlisle.

A mix of Wetherspoons and the Ivy. Somewhere in between. Great location in the centre of Carlisle. The pink lemonade was very good. Quite expensive though.

Fell over and smashed my face into someone else’s eggs benedict. They were so understanding and were happy to help me clean up, however I quite enjoyed walking down the street covered in yolk with two bits of bread sticking out of each ear. Would visit again

Absolutely lovely place, brilliant food! Marshall on the floor staff was amazing, we weren’t exactly easy customers and they went above and beyond! We’ll absolutely be returning. A shame they didn’t have the buttermilk chicken on the day we went, but it was easily substituted after we’d ordered and the staff were so kind about it.

Lovely decor. We visited as a family with children but was also busy with couples and groups. Food was delicious and portion sizes were good, even the kids meals which are reasonably priced. As a family of 2 adults and 2 kids with drinks we spent around £70 and that was with sides. Ordering is either done at the bar or via app, didn't have to wait too long for food and you can also find board games kept upstairs to keep you entained whilst you wait.

Good place to eat and meet friends pleasant atmosphere and plenty of time to enjoy your meal.

Extremely impressed with the design of this establishment and the food tastes incredible. Tried to get here three times and finally! I recommend this establishment - it is beautiful, pleasant atmosphere, aesthetically pleasing, clean and tasty. I was also pleasantly surprised by the presence of a painting by a Ukrainian artist. I love it!

Just needed to eat a after a long train journey. Had a smash burger, was very good, always really disappointed with the tiny spoonful of coleslaw that virtually everywhere does with their burgers however. Plate just looked bare.

Looks great and had a very nice atmosphere, staff friendly, first time here with my wife and 3 grown up daughters, ordered various food dishes 2 cappuccino 3 flat white, and 1 bottle of Harrogate sparkling water, staff member gave us five glasses for water , I asked if we could have clean glasses as they looked a bit dirty she looked for other glasses but they were the same, said it was due to constant use of glasses and not the dish washer, they had a cloudy look about them, food was okay a bit over priced but maybe that was just me , coffee a bit weak tasting , might come back again just to see the decor, but had a great time with my wife and daughters

Part of the 'lounge' chain, this place doesn't disappoint. Excellent service from friendly staff. Great menu options, and tasty food. Ordering at the table using the app is quick and easy ( or you can order from the bar).

Been a few times but the service is starting to be very slow for both food and particularly the bar with not enough staff. The staff that are there are lovely there just isn't enough. One person on the bar in a peak bank holiday Sunday is not enough

Family brunch upstairs, very smart room, food was great, bacon was ultra crispy, we had pancakes, bacon roll and burgers. Brilliant 👏

Enjoyed a meal in pleasant surroundings with attentive staff. From being greeted and seated, the service was good. We do like the decor that this franchise employs. It's well worth calling in and taking some time to spot those items that were popular during the early and mid-20th century. I say franchise, but each restaurant does the decor slightly differently, and it is really well done. We called in early one afternoon, and there was plenty of seating even though it was busy. I can certainly recommend this place and we will definitely visit again when in the area. The photos are of the upstairs part, I forgot to take some while downstairs, so you'll need to call in to marvel at the light fittings 😃

Lovely atmosphere, friendly, pleasant, very tasty menu.

What a fantastic visit we had today, the food was fast but more than that it was fresh and delicious. We came with a group of 7 and we're accommodated with ease. The manager, Shem, was wonderful. Hospitable, friendly and very knowledgeable about the products. I must add Hannah, was a great server for us. Great team. Brilliant new space for Carlisle. Keep it up and thanks for a lovely experience.

Missed a burger of our order, Finished food and the Waitress had walked passed the table multiple times and still hadn’t cleared our table.Then had to ask for them to take our plates away and still hadn’t . Drinks were flat too.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere & staff great. We spoke to the Assistant Manager who was doing a great job when the restaurant was busy & it was just him plus the barman taking orders &serving. Excellent. Thanks.

What a lovely spacious cafe with a large menu choice and beautiful decor for a bit more of a "fancy" bite to eat. Very impressed with their full gluten free menu and then option to go half size for my daughter (only 5 and no kids gf options) We didn't wait long and the service and food were great. I'll definitely go back.

Great venue, awesome food, and super friendly and attentive staff. This place is a breath of fresh air to Carlisle and the atmosphere is fantastic, I highly recommend you try this place. We'll be back again, already been 5 times in 2 weeks 😁🤩

Good selection of food and drinks, some things may seem a little on the pricey side. Good atmosphere. Accessible by ideally located in the city centre. Very clean. Havenr struggled getting a seat, even when it seems busier - seating upstairs and downstairs.

The staffs are very difficult to communicate Music: Good Cleanliness: Very good With a lot of disheartened feelings I am writing my second review, today I went there with my family and we were refused to seat in unreserved sofa table and told to seat in a shabby spot. We were happy to wait for the sofa table to prepare but they refused. So, we had to leave the restaurant for better options. My request to management, every customer is equally valuable and should expect equal respect.

A nice bar eatery lounge right in the centre of Carlisle. The decor is modern and clean, the staff are very friendly and the service is good. The food was nice, if a little expensive but you get what you pay for. Easily accessible will visit again when in Carlisle.

I've been here before and loved it. However, I went yesterday and because it was packed we agreed to sit outside and just have a coffee instead of food. When the coffees were delivered 2 of the cups were very dirty and still had the rim of the last coffee at the top of the cups. They had not been washed. I returned them and the woman behind the bar was so rude and didn't even apologise..She then sent the coffees back over but had poured the coffees out of the dirty cups into another cup instead of doing fresh ones. We will not return.

Fantastic place with loads of gluten free options and they check with you when ordering which is really reassuring that they take allergies and intolerances seriously. Lovely atmosphere, the team were wonderful, the food amazing. Will definitely be returning.

UPDATE Went back and the pot was clean. Had lunch, friendly staff, although waited to be served, as no phone to order. Food arrived before drinks. When drinks arrived, teapot was stained on the spout all the way down the pot, teaspoon was sticky with sugar and saucer was chipped. Had to ask for cup to be changed as it was marked and dirty inside and out. Lovely place but attention to cleanliness needs to be addressed.

Food was 5 star for the price, but one of the sides was a bit on the cold side - great service, brilliant atmosphere. Plenty of gluten free options too. Spend per person (about £30) included starters, mains and drinks - very good value. Will definitely be back

The best daytime hangout in Carlisle big credit to the atmosphere and the view. HOWEVER they need to re-examine the tastes of their iced coffees, homemade drinks, and cocktails. I believe many customers share the same concern.

Went twice in one day! The first time we’d been. Great location, seated quickly, lovely staff, they looked after us and gave our dog water and treats! Such a nice comfortable atmosphere and so refreshing that we could go as a family with our 3 month old baby and our dog. Already arranged to go the following weekend with friends! Really hope they arnt shut down like a lot of premises in the town! Our new favourite place to go!

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime & was very busy. The restaurant is spacious & we ordered via the in-house app which was seamless. Service was quick & the staff were efficient & polite. Our meals, all day breakfast, burgers & smashed avocado were all excellent. Would recommend this restaurant.

Great place but sometimes the little things matter. When your get served a coffee and the waitress spills the coffee it woukd me nice from them to offer to clean it up for you! Good job we had our own supply of napkins 😀

Fab fab fab fab fab! What a delightful find in Carlisle's main square. The Bordo Lounge is elegantly decorated with a warm welcoming atmosphere, which is much appreciated when the rain is sideways! The menu is a delight, a variety of classics (with a twist) and meals that you just wouldn't find elsewhere (in Carlisle at least). We had the butter chicken and the nari goreng. My daughter had the chicken which was really hot (hot hot, not spicy hot) as well as being absolutely delicious. I went for the Nari Goreng, pulled beef with Malaysian rice and wow. It has to be one of the best meals I've had in restaurant in a long while. To top this off, the service was excellent and wirh a smile. The Bordo Lounge uses a QR scan to order system or you can order at the bar. If you're in town, this is the place to go, you won't be disappointed!

We visited the Bordo Lounge today (Thursday 14/03) for an early lunch, of which we are very pleased we came in. Being just before lunch, there were ample tables available however we did notice the place filled up soon after 12noon. Externally the venue looks very attractive and is just the same inside, very retro. Inside there is ample space and the tables are spread out nicely meaning you aren’t sitting on top of other people. We were seated quickly and advised how and where to order. We did try to order online through the QR code however the 4G wasn’t brilliant so a trip to the bar solved our predicament. All the staff we encountered throughout our experience were lovely. We ordered a Twisted Chicken Club Ciabatta’s and a Lamb Shawarma Flatbread, side of fries and sweet potato fries. The food was with us in around 20 minutes which was great. Both dishes were beautiful, very tasty and very well prepared. Both highly recommended. From the look of other plates coming out the kitchen, it all looked very good. For the food above plus two coca-colas the bill came to around £32 which I thought to be very reasonable and excellent value for money. Perhaps with the quality of food and service, plus the price, that’s why it’s an incredibly popular venue for all ages. Without a doubt we will definitely return here to try another dish on the menu.

Staff are rude , clueless and very slow. Staff seem to be everywhere but no one knows what's going on. Food menu wise, there is a lot of choice but quality is basic . Alright for a quick drink but don't expect friendly reliable service. For a new establishment in the centre of town , you'd expect impressions to be a high priority...just another cash cow ...get them in , get them out .

The place itself looked amazing, fantastic decor, staff are very friendly, but that's it unfortunately. The food is edible but I feel they're trying too hard to impress. Not everyone wants all the dressing,tart, and clart on their food. What's wrong with cheese toastie or panini. Instead of that with sauce, chutney, and loads of other ingredients. The process are to high too, we got fries, which looks like you get a lot, (presented, beautifully,in a tin cup, with grease proof), but looks are decieving, the paper only goes half way so you get way less than a handful, and they charge £3. I also feel the staff should have at least colour uniform, eg, all black, black and white. You can't tell the difference between staff and customers. Hair should be tied back as I found a hair on my plate, I didn't say anything though.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon with friends we weren’t able to book prior to our visit, but we could not get a table when we arrived, one server told us 20 minutes another told us more like 45-50 minutes. Obviously communication between staff isn’t the best!! Rather silly that bookings cannot be taken for a Saturday you just have to ‘chance’ it and turn up, overall very disappointed and very unlikely to return again.

My aunt and I were on a day trip to Carlisle today. She's gluten intolerant and I'm lactose free, so eating out is ALWAYS difficult. However, not at Bordo Lounge. We struggled to choose what to eat....not for the usual reason (that we can't find anything that inspires us) but because there was so much to choose from!! The food was delicious and the staff are so helpful and friendly. If Brodo wasn't 188 miles away round trip by train, we would undoubtedly be regular visitors!! So, now we are going to try out your lounges in Leeds. They have a lot to live up to!

I'm not impressed with this place. This is the second time I've visited as I wanted to give it a second chance. Should have stuck to my instincts. We arrived at 11.15 am, ordered our food and drinks , and ended up waiting 35 minutes for our drinks, which were only a tea and a latte, then another 10 minutes for the food to arrive which was a 2 x breakfast muffin. There was lots of staff wandering around but very slow service. It's a shame as the actual place is beautiful.

Nice new place to eat with friends and loved ones in Carlisle. So much artwork on the walls, you'll have too much to look at, at times. Relaxed vibe and good food. Bit on the pricey side for some dishes but they have a few deals on - tapas Tuesday for example, which are worth a look, if you plan on having a cocktail too. Personally I've been here twice, and both my wife and I are keen to return to try out some other items from the menu.
