This little gem serves freshly cooked meals, so a little wait is expected, definitely worth waiting for my meal was excellent. I will be eating here again once in Carlisle again.

This is a basic cafeteria style eating place, but importantly the food is delicious. The stuff and Services is friendly and efficient. Take away meals are also available if required. There is a large variety of different Thai meals, and all are very competitively priced. It has grown in popularity over the years and has expanded its number of tables. Whilst the facilities are basic being in the center of the market, it lacks the ambience of a more market restaurant, of course but it is clean and popular with people who want a quick, but nevertheless, tasty ,spicy Thai meal at an affordable price. It is most busy over the lunchtime hours and is ready to close by about a5pm. Non alcoholic drinks are also available.

We went at 4.30 last night, asked if there was time to eat in. They said yes so we ordered food & drinks. The food took between 20-25 mins to cook so we had no time left to eat. We asked for takeaway boxes which they seemed annoyed at. They were quite rude. We asked for takeaway cutlery to which they just replied no. The food wasn't good. I ordered a massaman curry which was nothing like one. The soup was extremely salty. The beef jungle curry was the only decent dish. We weren't given our green teas, despite paying for them. The prices are cheap but the quality is poor and the service terrible.

First time ate here won't be the last. I had Thai spring rolls for starter followed by a delicious red Thai curry with rice. The curry cost £6 with rice, I've paid treble this in posh restaurants for a inferior dish, it really was lover and nicely presented. Don't be put off by this little gem being in a market it's definitely restaurant quality food at less than takeaway prices.

Coconut T was talked up to me for a long while by my friend. So, upon going to visit them, we decided we had to go there for food. There is no pretension. No snobbishness. Just a small kitchen area and a few tables. It is basic. Arguably more like the kind of thing you would see on the streets of Thailand or China etc where the locals go to eat. And I have no problem with that at all, it is good to see somewhere taking a simple approach yet still offering good food at low prices. We shared a starter of chicken satay. Which I have to say was delicious. Nicely cooked chicken and a peanut coating/dipping sauce with just a touch of chilli to it that was unexpected but also excellent. My main course was chicken red curry. There was a little confusion when both our mains arrived, as they looked eerily similar. But, a taste test solved any questions we had. I can't complain about the main course. Decent portion size, freshly cooked ingredients, and it tastes great . . . . and it costs very little really. Sure, the snobbish out there will bemoan the location and things like that. But forget them, as this isn't a fine dining location. It is a small, genuine little place to get some quick, freshly made tasty food for next to nothing. And if you turn your nose up at that, then me and you can't be friends!

We call in here whenever we're in Carlisle. We are never disappointed, wonderful food, complete taste sensation, excellent value for money & totally love the girls! I think they have a restaurant that's open in the evening.

Having lived in Thailand for three years, I tend to avoid Thai restaurants due to high prices and not always that "authentic". However, this little place was superb. The massaman, red curry and green curry were brilliant and properly priced. The ladies are very polite and everything cooked fresh to order, as all Thai food should. Found in the markets, definitely worth a visit!

We had freshly cooked pad thai, which was delicious. The interior is simple and main dishes around 5 pounds. Excellent value for money.

I can agree that the food is cheap but it is nowhere near as good as these reviews indicate. It is basic thai food served in very basic surroundings. Maybe they should charge more in order to improve the ingredients. I had a beef red curry and the quality of the meat was poor added to which the sauce was very watery. My wife had a green chicken curry which was a little better but again the sauce was too runny. By all means visit but be prepared for a pretty average experience.

We spotted this cafe while wandering in the market. Without much expectation, we sat down and ordered Prawn pad thai and Chicken with cashew nuts. The Pad thai was very very tasty, the best pad thai I have ever had. It was only £5. I have never ordered pad thai else where ever since because I know I will always compare the next pad thai with one in Coconut Tree. The girls working there were very friendly and courteous. If I had a chance to go to Carlisle again, I will put Coconut Tree on the top of my list.

My husband and i have visited this cafe twice in recent months, the food here is really excellent and the staff are very warm and friendly the prices are very good they have a good selection of food such as Jungle curry(spiced to your liking) ,pad thai, green curry.red curry, thai fish cakes, spring rolls just to mention a few. There are not many tables but they do take away as well ,but they are only open through the day.You have to remember that its an indoor market cafe so your not in a palatial setting but the food and staff more than make up for it.We will go back again.

My girlfriend and me found this place by accident while camping in Carlisle and it couldn't have been better. We visited 2 days in a row and even bought a takeaway for the train home. The food is some of the best I've ever tasted.

Stumbled across this place by accident and glad we did. The meals were freshly prepared and very delicious. Stuck in the back of the market hall it looked a bit dodgy like something you would see on a trip to Thailand but looks were deceiving as we found out, popular with the locals and I can see why. Only complaint was, although the meal was £5 it was a small portion and I could of eaten two or had I known then ordered spring rolls etc.

This is one of our favourite takeaways, situated right in the middle of the city of Carlisle, Cumbria, UK. We have bought food many times, our favourites being Pad Thai prawn noodles and the green curry. The owner-cook is a friendly smiling lady who keeps track of individual preferences and even packs small boxes of extra chillies and masalas. Lip-smacking!
