My second review after not a good one in February. Having said that, my visits since then have been fine until Friday. At 1pm, the cafe was as busy as I have seen it, I was informed by the young man at the till there would be a delay in drinks and food. Tea arrived after about 10 minutes, my two toasted crumpets took 43 minutes. How long does it take to toast and butter a crumpet, about two minutes. The server apologised for the delay and said...I do not know why that happened. One person said there would be a delay, the other had no idea why there was a delay.. Not much communication going on, but to be honest, nobody in the Cafe looks in charge. Booths a premium supermarket, better than Waitrose and M&S with its fresh fish and meat counters etc, has a cafe that is run like a Greasy Spoon.

I live 30 minutes drive away, but as I have a friend locally, I am more than happy to visit Booths Hesketh Bank and have a reasonably priced lunch in the upgraded Cafe 1847. What is noticeable on a number of occasions is the slow service and there does not appear to be any body in charge directing the very young staff. I visited last Friday for an excellent Lancashire cheese and chutney sandwich with the Booths excellent breakfast tea, but despite the cafe being quiet, the food service was slow. As I enjoyed the food so much I was there again today at 1pm and ordered the same. The cafe was a lot busier with perhaps just over 50% of the tables taken and no queue to order. The tea arrived after a small wait but after at least 25 minutes my sandwich had still nor appeared. I went to the counter and within a few minutes my sandwich was served. But it was no where near the quality of the previous week, one side of the bread was quite dry as if it had been sitting on a warm shelf for ages before being served. I was not an isolated case, an elderly couple sat near to me, I could tell from there mannerisms that whilst they had been served their drinks they were waiting ages for their food and were getting fidgety. Eventually one of them went to complain and when I left 10 minutes later to buy some groceries they had still not received their food.

Booths cannot be bettered: fresh, well presented prawns in marie-rose sauce on a mixed leaf salad. The service was quick and efficient, polite and helpful. The portion of freshwater prawns was generous.

Ordered 2 rounds of toast and a sandwich. Told it was a 25minute wait.Fine. After 40minutes we asked how much longer. Got told another 40mins?! Don't get me wrong it was busy, but this was ridiculous. Got a refund instead and went to Boskins.

If this cafe had stocks of food it could be good. When we called in they had stopped serving bacon barms! The had no toasted teacakes. Very poor. We went to a local cafe who were more expensive but had a full range of food available. We don’t mind paying extra if food is available and of good quality.

Having been numerous times before, we were this time sadly let down . The breakfasts we ordered were mostly pre cooked and dried up, the only saving grace was the toast and scrambled egg.

Dropped in to do some shopping plus have some lunch. We were both really hungry after having had a few drinks the night before. The food didn't disappoint. We both had the chorizo and cheese warm sandwich and chips. The only negative is that it took a long time to arrive and from where I was seated, I could see it was ready but sitting on the pass for about 20 minutes. Subsequently the chips were tepid in temperature. The issue seemed to be that the food couldn't be served prior to the cups of tea we ordered but there was a lack of cups perhaps, hence the delay. Staff lovely.

We often walk to Booths for lunch - we like the ambiance especially when the kids are back in school lol. We find the staff friendly and helpful and the sandwiches are very fresh - coronation chicken is lovely also it’s not expensive

I had ploughman's. The bread was stale pork pie was dry pastry was terrible. And served on a slate. Wife had nut roast which was dry and burnt to the paper. Looked like it had been cooked in a microwave on full blast.

Love the new look cafe!!! The new menu is amazing all the food is cooked fresh, you can tell as food take 15/20 mins to arrive clearly no microwaves used!! The staff are so friendly and helpful when I couldn’t decide which one of the many cakes they have on offer. The girl who served me recommended the chocolate cake and it was definitely delicious! Will definitely be back

Came in for breakfast with my daughter. Whilst having breakfast we overheard the manager of the cafe speaking to the staff on shift in an appalling manner. Rude, patronising and disrespectful. After this, another member of staff, fairly young with long dark brown hair, I believe to be the leader was even more rude, controlling and intimidating!!!! This is not the way someone of authority should be speaking to their staff! We are not impressed with what this cafe has become which is a shame!

Friendly staff greeted us as soon as we arrived, despite being busy they cleared a table for us and offered us menus as we sat down. After we'd had time to browse the menu they let us know what the soup of the day was and asked if we were ready to order. Once we had ordered our meals (veggie lasagne and a cheese omelette) our drinks were quickly prepared so we enjoyed those whilst we waited for our food. The portion size was ideal for lunch and it is real comfort food. We enjoyed our visit to the cafe as it was relaxed and the staff were brilliant. Would definitely recommend!

Nothing like a McDonald's to calm pre-wedding nerves :) especially when you have an hour to find two random witnesses Update: 7 years later, a child together and another one possibly on the way still think this was the best drive thru I have ever been to. And yes I did spill ketchup on my shirt. God Bless 🙏
