came to bonneys recently for lunch with a friend and it was lovely! i had the lasagne which was on the specials board and my friend had eggs royale and it was delicious. the staff and service is great, they’re very welcoming and it’s a warming atmosphere. the menu is also served all day which is a bonus! we will definitely be back and will be recommending to friends and family!

I love Bonney’s Cafe! It’s such a warm and welcoming place with delicious home-cooked food. Their handmade scones and cakes are amazing, and as someone who’s gluten-free, I was thrilled to find four options just for me! The staff are so friendly and make you feel right at home. Whether you’re local or just passing through, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Wow, really appalled at this cafe. Walked in immediately felt uncomfortable. Went up too the counter were the girl at the counter with two French braids just stared at my partners face like he was an alien or she had never seen a black person before. She was sarcastic and smug and clearly has no customer service skills. We still proceeded to go and find a seat as we were hungry. I could feel eyes burning a hole in the back of my head, as I walked towards a table a different girl aggressively told us we can’t sit there. This made us incredibly uncomfortable as I felt as though they were just watching and targeting us as I believe if we were one of their regulars we wouldn’t have been spoken too like that . Don’t go here if you are not a regular and an ethnic minority, further down the road is a lovely, welcoming cafe. Go there instead !

We have been here three times now. The food is excellent. However, the service/atmosphere not so. This is purely because the staff are moaning and talking about each other all the time. It is not only unwarranted but very unprofessional. This went on and off (in between serving customers) for the whole time we were there. It’s been different staff as well, not just the same people. We’ve all done it, moaned about whomever. But….my boss would not be impressed if that was the service I provided in-front of a paying customer! If the staff put in the same amount of effort to chatting to the customers as they did about each other it would be a wonderful place. When we left we said “thank you” twice but the staff were so busy speaking to each other we never got acknowledged.

We walked in to have some food and a coffee, straight away they told us that there was no food being served there was 5 staff on. We waited at the door until they cleared a table for us. We sat down and waited 5/10 minutes and still no one came over to take our order. 4 other people came in and they decided to serve them instead and ignore us . So we walked out and went somewhere else.

It's a bit twee. Food was not hot enough and served on a plate which was too small. The server was rather obtuse. Tables are very close together so we get to hear this annoying woman asking 20 questions about the constitution of a cup of coffee.

This cafe allows dogs. The food is ok but the service is very slow. We waited ages- over 40 minutes for 2 soups, one jacket potato and a sandwich. I don't think we'll be returning

We arrived at around 11:15am without a reservation and had a bit of luck and got the last table!! We ordered 2 traditional breakfasts, one gluten free, the waitress was very clued up and checked whether the request for gluten free was a choice or concerning a health condition, once we explained it was due to coeliac she explained that although the hash browns were g/f they were cooked in a shared fryer so would be unsuitable. She substituted the hash brown for another breakfast item to make up for it. The poached eggs were the best we’ve ever tasted and the whole breakfast was amazing! We went in later and had coffee and cake and my husband said the g/f toffee cake was amazing. I had the standard sticky toffee cake which was also delicious. The coffee was good too. We will definitely recommend and will definitely be back. So nice to see young staff who’ve been correctly trained in such important matters. Thank you.

Waited 25 minutes for my order only to be told they lost the ticket and forgot to cook it - not even busy. Would have given only 1 star but the coffee was good.

Told to sit, 1 waitress doing bin, two stood eating, one clearing table,after 15/20 mins oder not taken we left, not good enough at 3.50 pm

Good option for a quick light lunch. We had the mac&cheese and ham with eggs, and later cake as dessert; the food was good and reasonably priced. Portion sizes can vary between dishes. The dining area was quite busy but tidy. The service was friendly, a bit slower at peak lunch time.

Went because it was convenient on the high street and looked OK . Menu is quite good but had a very long wait, over 25 mins for our order of a shared sandwich to arrive but the sandwich was tasty and of god quality. The real rip off came when we had to pay, they charged an additional £2.00 because we wanted to share a sandwich which they served on two plates. Vey very disappointed and over priced

Went with a large group of kids/teens in a choir, but they had room, split inside and outside. There was a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected when you make 20-ish orders all at once. Once the food arrived, it was lovely and high quality. I left full and happy, so it was a success!

A group of us cyclists turned up at probably the busiest time. They found space for our bikes in a side passage and we sat out in a lovely back garden /patio area. Service was very good and attentive, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. We visit several cafes a week between us and this was up there with the best.

Our regular stop for coffee or hot chocolate when in Battle.

Stopped off here on a motorcycle trip, I just had a coffee but my fellow riders said the breakfast was delicious. Very good service from the staff, very friendly. Will come again.

The one star is for the food as the food was nice and warm I wouldn’t say any better than any other place i’ve been too but it was served warm and portions were good.The waiter we had was a bit grumpy though and made the overall experience not as good as i’d hoped. I will not be back as there are several options for places to eat for me to be paying to have to deal with grumpy staff. I did have a look at the reviews of this place after having been there and noticed i’m not the only one that’s had this problem hopefully this place has a reassessment of their staff soon.

A warm welcome in this high street eatery. Excellent made to order sandwiches and delicious cakes too. Also welcomes 4 legged friends

Amazing food and great service, could not recommend more. I had the ham, eggs and chips, eggs cooked perfect and the local ham was amazing.

First visit today since moving locally, absolutely amazing range of food and all freshly prepared. Definitely will be visiting again.

Hooray for Battle Deli and Bonneys...the best places for friendly service and a welcome. Oh, how we miss coffee catch ups in Bonneys plus the best tapas this side of the Med!! The deli do authentic Cornish pasties, ( I have Cornish roots) Since lockdown, we have enjoyed delivery of very gorgeous burgers and divine pasties. I may have to give up cooking myself🍔

Love this place, the food is varied & tasty & coffee is also good. Love meeting members of my family there for a quick catch up. Highly recommend their cakes also.

The only thing worse than the coffee was the service. It seems they don’t know how to make coffee, we were waiting for about half an hour and when we enquired we’re told they were very busy, despite there only being about 8 people in there. The fruit scone was also dry. I will not be visiting again.

Went out for a brunch with the local family, who suggested Bonney’s. I was pleased to see good vegetarian options. I had the Big Vegetarian Breakfast, which was a hearty meal and great tasting, and good price. Had a latte, which given the cup size could have done with an extra shot of espresso. Nicely fitted out older premises, providing a great atmosphere. If I visit Battle again I would readily go to Bonney’s again.

This was our first time in Bonny's and we enjoyed the experience and will be back. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food was very tasty. From outside we didn't realise how spacious Bonny's was so we didn't have any problems getting a table. Will look forward to our next visit.

Lovely Cafe. Deceptively large. The full english breakfast was fantastic. The black pudding could have been cooked a little longer but every other item was flavourful and the portions were good for the price.

It was busy. Food was plentiful and very tasty. Delayed service was apologised for. No pressure to move on. Good value too

Never been here before my wife and I popped in for some lunch and we were very pleased with the food and all staff where very friendly would highly recommend.

We always use this cafe in Battle but today @ 12-15pm walked in and my wife made her way to an empty table when the lady behind the counter said ! Sorry we are full ! and turned around facing the other way before I could respond with ! You have an empty table ! Good Luck to you in the future if you treat your locals like this .

Such a shame because this Cafe could be so lovely, perfect location but the staff are probably the grumpiest I’ve ever seen! We felt so uncomfortable & unwanted. Food is nice but the staff need to learn how to smile.

Fantastic quality food and service. We had a breakfast, sandwiches and eggs benedict. Everything was delicious 😋 highly recommended. We also had a baby in our party and a highchair was available for her. You will not be disappointed!

Lovely café, friendly staff and nice food which is very reasonably priced. I had a jacket potato with cheese & beans which came with a nice side salad and my hubby had fishfingers flatbread. We both enjoyed the food 😊

We popped in here as a little treat today for lunch. My husband had a steak flatbread and I had the humous & roasted vegetable flatbread, both were delicious and the service was really good. We will definitely return in the future.

Food was good. I've only given 4 stars as the scrambled egg was wet and I like mine dry. If you know, you know. Will definitely return soon. Staff really friendly.

Nice cafe for reasonably priced lunch I had a very nice quiche which was obviously homemade with coleslaw Mediterranean salad and side salad My partner had the prawn sandwich which looked lovely however it was a bit heavy on crunchy salad and low on prawns

I had a lunch dish consisting of pieces of breaded chicken on a handful of rocket on a flatbread smeared with chutney. The chicken was hard and stringy and couldn’t be cut with a knife. The manager was dismissive .

Nice popular eating place in Battle. Good helping of lasagna, nice cakes and dog friendly.

This is a great place to get meals throughout the day. We had a pre-wedding breakfast which was amazing. The menu offers wide variety and excellent choices. Using local suppliers and produce to create stunning meals.

Never had a bad meal here. Great for families, couples, friends gathering or solo. Menu is varied. Food quality is always top notch. Lovely staff. Highly recommend.

Although we went for lunch, my wife and I both had the small breakfast and it was very good. Well-presented, the portion size was ample and it was good value for money. Very friendly, helpful staff. Our first visit but we will certainly go again when we are in Battle. An added bonus was it is dog friendly.

I came here with my 14-year-old son to have some lunch. I had a prawn jacket potato, and my son had a coronation chicken jacket potato. My potato was barely cooked, and my son's coronation chicken looked like it had come out of a cheap supermarket pot. The salad portions were meagre, especially for the price. We were both left with uncomfortable stomachs. Also, we were not asked how our meals were at any point, so we could not express these concerns at the time. Overall, it was a bad experience which was terrible value for money. We will not visit here again.

Poor vegan menu, ordered same dish twice, one was missing or had less ingredients the other had. Sauce missing. Pile of salad dropped on it as decoration or hiding missing ingredient, no oil or vinegar. Sorry but really need to rethink that dish and presentation and wooden board was last century fad. Will try again in 50 years, menu probably the same. Disappointing experience. Staffs to busy chatting than customer orientated

Hotel sent me here for breakfast. Mushrooms and tomato practically raw, bacon shoeleather-esque with no browning at all, and to top it off the only place in England I’ve been scolded like a child for trying to charge my phone. At least service was quick (though I wish they would’ve taken a bit longer to do it properly)

This is a lovely friendly cafe. It is a shame they allow smoking at the table by the front door. We sat at the end of the cafe near the garden and could smell the smoke from there.

Nice little cafe.. I had a little wait to get a diet coke, but it got quite busy after I arrived as there was a lot going on and it is a bank holiday! My food came out piping hot and really tasty. They had a varied menu, and I would go back to sample other items from the menu! There wasn't a huge amount of seating as only a small place, so quite a few people were turned away, but again, it was extremely busy in Battle. Friendly staff.

This was such a hidden gem on the high street. Food was lovely with really good choices, beautifully cooked and well-presented. Staff were helpful and friendly. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Me, the wife and dog popped today for a late lunch. Service was good with attentive staff and the food was lovely. I had the sausage and mash, the wife had haloumi flat bread. No complaints from the dog either who was give a bowl of water and a biscuit.

I called the day before to book a table for six friends. When we arrived they had reserved a lovely table in the window. Staff were attentive and we weren't left waiting to order for too long. Drinks were delicious and all our different food orders came in a timely fashion. All food was fresh and tasty. Definitely recommend this place. Payment

Had lunch with two friends at Bonney’s today. We were glad we had booked a table as it is obviously popular. Lovely food and service with a smile in spite of the fact they were very busy. I had a quiche lorraine which had crumbly light pastry and tasted lovely and my friends had fish cakes which looked chunky and were enjoyed. Nice to see they are welcoming ( well behaved) dogs inside now. I shall be back soon with OH and canine.

Always enjoy visiting Bonneys in Battle. The staff are friendly and the food is always tasty. They have recently painted the exterior and it looks fab.

Nice little cafe, comfy etc. however hugely over priced food for what was given and poor service from waitressing staff - cutlery dumped on table, drink order wrong, took 20 minutes for a glass of water to arrive, and only after I got up and asked for it to be told “yes it’s just being “made” now”. At least just say you forgot! Looking at the menu online I was also over charged. Review is much more related to manners of staff rather than food - nice enough just very expensive for what it is!

My wife and I popped in for a break on our coach day trip for a slice of cake and cup of tea. The cafe is a delightful old worlde type serving lovely home made cakes by very friendly staff. A very pleasant experience that should not be missed when visiting Battle.

I am responding the the review below stating the coffee is “Nescafé” and scones gone in one bite. I believe this could be meant for elsewhere due to having seen the own branded coffee, huge coffee machines & scones myself first hand! Just wanted to state the facts. I’ve even got photos of it all!

I can’t believe how cafés like this can get away with selling coffee as bad as this, don’t ask for a flat white, you will get a tasteless Nescafé. The scones taste OK but two bites and its gone. We are local and like to use independent business but not ones like this.

I had the quiche & salad off the specials menu & it was the best I've ever had, fresh, presented well, tasted fantastic. My partner had sausage & mash, sausages were massive & local. He couldn't finish it all, but he said it was the most tastiest. Gingerbread latte was so hot & perfect Staff were so friendly & service excellent, would definitely visit again

Super tasty lunchtime sandwich but service was a little slow! Prices were reasonable and the choices on the menu were extensive, including the specials. All sounded delicious and if anything like our salted beef open sandwich goes you will not be disappointed. Unfortunately there were not many smiles on offer, it all seemed a bit business like, in terms of service which was a pity. We all have days like that I suppose. Generally pretty good but a little more welcoming would have been nice.

A little gem. We had a lovely lunch here, flatbread with various toppings, delicious. Loved the chunky chips too. The service is was excellent, very pleasant staff who also helped by telling me I could pay for my parking from my table using Rinho as I had forgotten, this saved me getting a ticket! Would highly recommend, plenty of choice on the menu.

Offensively Average. Went here for breakfast and was left disappointed and bloated. Good quality sausage was perhaps the standout feature of an otherwise poor and slightly garlicky / oily breakfast. Eggs, black pudding and mushrooms were not enjoyable. Deco of the establishment appeals to more sickly, flowery type tastes, though some good watercolours by a local artist. In terms of the eggs Benedict, the less said, the better; it was cold. Service was average..... Chef was freindly. Cup of tea was excellent.
