Bombay Rickshaw in Haringey

Had a delivery and the chicken tikka malasa had a strange sweet taste - the paneer tasted like old frying oil and the dhal was mediocre as well. The raita wasn't tasty either... do not recommend...

Booked with a TheFork discount, prices are super competitive and the food is delicious. Just be careful because when they say that something is spicy, it really is a lot spicy. Only the atmosphere is not so great: the place is cold and lacks a bit of personality, it does not reflect the food that they are serving

Gave a 4 but I'd say 3.5 if i could. Chicken Vindaloo very nice, dhaal very nice, lamb was really nice and soft, naan was good, chicken shashlik was good but chicken wasn't very soft, tandoori chicken was average Chilli paneer however was awful, cheese tasted disgusting, undercooked and sauce was basically sweet chilli. Slow delivery around 15 minutes late past latest estimate.

Had a takeaway from here last night. Decently priced, although the lentils and sag paneer were quite sweet and the chilli paneer was just some paneer in a sweet chilli sauce. The garlic naan was also very sweet.

This is the second occasion we have booked through Fork with the 30% discount which is available every day and had a problem with the same waiter who says the offer is not available. I showed him your confirmation showing the discount and that I could book ahead as well. The attitude was not good and I was grateful no other customers in this small restaurant to observe. We have taken so many people there over the past two years inc four only last Friday so very unpleasant. We did get the discount in a very ungracious manner which is a shame

Enjoyed my first takeaway delivery from Bombay Rickshaw today. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of the food, especially the chef's own aubergine dish which was delicious. My favourite dish has long been saag bhaji and in this case it was superb. The chili paneer was firm just spicy enough. 4 stars because the tarka dahl was watery and an extra free poppadom would have been a nice gesture as this is something I've always been gifted with in the past by other South Asian restaurants. Otherwise a wonderful experience and I shall be ordering again soon. Thank you, Bombay Rickshaw!

Ordered Chicken Tikka Masala - tasted like canned tomato sauce and sugar with a few tiny bits of dried chicken thrown in - we couldn’t eat it. Absolutely no salt or flavor. Ordered the chickpea side dish- absolutely no flavor. At least the onion baji and garlic nan were decent.

We enjoyed another excellent meal at this MUCH underrated restaurant, do NOT be put off by the surrounding area ,or being on the main road. We were warmly greeted by Ray & his team, the food was delicious, freshly prepared, served professionally & most enjoyable. Given the current offer of 50% discount it is a NO BRAINER, try it, worth every penny!!!!

First time trying this local takeaway. Everything tasted great especially house special item such as Butter chicken, Lamb Gosht and Tandoori chicken. Outstanding value for money.

A simple, no-frills restaurant with good food at decent prices. We ordered the Bombay aloo, saag paneer, parathas and veg biryani. We ordered the curries as sides but the portions were big enough for 2 people. The biryani was a tad spicy for us, but we really enjoyed the rest of the food.

Had a lovely dinner there tonight. Fine curry, exemplary service from friendly waiters and at a good price too. Can't ask for more. I just wonder, in the spirit of helpful feedback, whether they'd get more customers if they had more booze on the menu!

The staff are friendly and you always get a warm welcome. We are normally greeted by our first names, which I like. It's nice how the staff get to know their customers. I normally order my food by phone and go and collect it, but I have dined in a few times and really enjoyed it. The service is really good. I've been using Bombay Rickshaw for years and the food is so good. The lamb biryani is so tasty, and has just the right amount of spice and the lamb is tender.

We have eaten at this restaurant several times & have NEVER been disappointed. At first glance the area is not the most welcoming BUT the restaurant is clean, well maintained & the food is fabulous. Freshly prepared, served professionally, polite & friendly staff, exceptionally good value. Everything considered this restaurant deserves a MUCH HIGHER RATING.

Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Great food & service. Just remember to bring your own booze if you're a drinker. All in all, it's excellent.

One of the best Chicken Jalfrezi’s Ive ever had and the best freshest Garlic Naan! Service was absolutely fine, and the food was ready within less than 10 minutes. Many of one star reviews give the food good ratings but not the delivery of the food, which I doubt is the fault of the restaurant so those ratings are misplaced in my opinion.

By the end of the evening, we all actually felt uplifted by the whole experience. NB! Parking is fine in the evenings from 7pm outside the restaurant (August 2023). - I’m not sure what the parking restrictions are in the side roads. - We all left saying that we would definitely revisit Bombay Rickshaw.

One of the worst service experience in my whole life in a restaurant. I am not sure whether the person was manager or waiter but instead of greeting, he rudely asked whether you want to eat starters or full menu and kept conditions to be served after sitting in restaurant. I will definitely not recommend by any chance to visit this restaurant and experience rude behaviour. If people are rude, I am sure taste must be worst.

We visited our favourite Indian restaurant again & were warmly greeted by Ray, who remembered us from our previous times. His attention, professionalism & service was superb. In addition his sense of humour was an added bonus. Without doubt in our experience the service, presentation, freshness & quality of the food is of the highest standard. We enjoyed our meal & with the added bonus of a discount made it even more enjoyable. We look forward to returning in the near future & highly recommend this restaurant to fellow lovers of Indian style food.

We found this restaurant by chance & decided to give it a try. We were fortunate to find a parking space immediately outside, but with the restaurant being on the main Archway Road. this could be a minor issue. From the outside it is very likely one would not give it a second look, however that is a BIG MISTAKE. THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC, full of flavours, freshly prepared, presented nicely & professionally served. We both enjoyed our dishes & will be returning very soon.

I do enjoy occasionally to have an Indian meal and we found a perfect place. The service of Mr Kamel and his team was great. The menu is quite extensive with plenty of choices and a very good descriptions. Our food was prepared freshly, piping hot, very tasty. We had starters and main courses, we also got tempted to have naan bread which was ever so light and delicious. The stuff is very professional and kind. The restaurant is very clean, bright and it easy to park your car too. Thank you. We will be back.

Great Indian food at decent prices and good service

So late with delivery. Call and they say 10-15 minutes and it will be with you and then it’s another 15 minutes late after that. Food is good but cool because it’s so late. Such a shame, looks like it’s better to dine in from other reviews

Me and my partner went to Bombay Rickshaw last night for a quick late dinner. We have just moved to the area and we can now say we have a fantastic local to go to. The food was very yummy and authentic. Our waiters were also great, going above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. I would highly recommend this place! I am excited to go back and try everything on the menu.

Probably the best Indian food I’ve had in London -certainly in North London. I regularly visit them; whether I dine in or collect a take away, their service is simply outstanding. Couldn’t recommend more ❤️

Got a range of dishes for takeaway - most were ok but the chilli paneer was disgusting. Literally small cubes of paneer in sweet chilli sauce…totally wrong. Onion bhajis also seemed a bit stale and the naan not very fresh but fine. A chicken balti and prawn dish was fine but nothing special. Probably wouldn’t order from here again.

Pls don’t accept a delivery order if you can’t commit to delivering within an hour or so. We placed an order on Uber Eats at 9:30pm this evening, it is now 11:45pm and the order still hasn’t arrived. We enquired several times, on one occasion the phone was put down mid-sentence. We were told the order is on its way at 10:15pm when clearly it wasn’t. It would have been better not to accept new orders when you can’t commit to delivering them in a reasonable time, whether it’s due to a lack of drivers or adverse weather conditions.

Ordered food over an hour 1 ago - food was marked as out for delivery for 50min - after waiting so long i gave then a call after 100 attempts and all of a sudden its marked as delivery while speaking to the guy. While trying to speak he just put the phone down and i could hear everything they was speaking in bengali. What a terrible customer service. Will never order from a cowboy establishment again.

This is our local Indian Restaurant. We have been many times, and the food doesn’t disappoint. I tend to get a different dish, every time, good to a high standard. The staff are friendly and attentive, would highly recommend

I ordered lamb sag a aubergine veg dish and a garlic Nan both the lamb and aubergine dish were favoursome and well spiced the Nan could have been fresher but okay. I have a salty lassie as a drink which was cold and excellent. They arrived in good time and very polite

Excellent service and yummy experience! We dined in and experienced 5 star service despite our 1 star attire lol. As Bay Area Californian tourists, meal was excellent as expected, and we got a bonus treat of heated napkins at the end of the meal and mini chocolates! Their tipping option on their pay machine wasn't working when we opted for it, so be sure to have cash on hand.

In Highgate at the end of a Capital Ring walk, our party of four sought good food on an early Saturday evening. We were not disappointed. The food selection has a mixture of classic and their own special dishes. We ordered some of both and every dish was superb. Throughout the meal the waiting staff were attentive without being overbearing, polite and keen to ensure we enjoyed our meal. We all commented what a really enjoyable dining experience we had before setting off back to Highgate station. And here is where the staff showed how much they cared. A few minutes after departing we heard a car horn tooting. We turned round and one of the waiters pulled over in a car to return an item of great value that we had left behind. As you would imagine we were surprised and relieved. The restaurant was not quiet when we left so the other staff would have covered his absence whilst he was out of the restaurant. This is the type of service which is rare and wonderful to experience. We offered a reward as way to thank him, which he categorically refused. What more can you say about a restaurant that not only serves great food but is run by people who really care? If we lived nearby we would eat here all the time.

Get this quite often and the quality/service is always very good. I always get the madras with garlic naan and never fails to disappoint

I’ve had takeaways here before and it has always been good. The food took a bit long to arrive today (an hour), which was annoying, but all the food was fantastic. I would definitely order again.

So many big wins in this place. Inside the layout is clean and cool, the chairs are super comfortable. The waiters are attentive and friendly, getting a perfect balance of checking we have everything we need and leaving us to enjoy the meal. The food is delivered in good time and is fresh and delicious. And to top it all the price is great value for money. So pleased we found this place a short walk from the station.

Nice Personal and very good Food

We ordered a takeaway from Bombay Rickshaw from Deliveroo and it was pretty disappointing. Rice was undercooked and hard, the motor paneer was awful - incredibly bland with hardly any paneer cheese in it (it literally tasted of nothing!) The chicken tikka masala had 5 pieces of chicken in it and the rest of the dish was just a weirdly strange red sweet sauce. The only nice part of the take away was the roti bread and popadoms (they were quite pleasant). If you want a nice curry avoid this restaurant.

I have had one meal there so far and it was great I will be going back very soon and would recomend the you try this place food was to a very high standard and service was the best.

I really enjoyed my dinner with friends in this place. I had Murgh Madhu and it was absolutely delicious. All dishes looked very nice and fresh. I need to mention the great work of staff who was making sure we are enjoying our time there. Looking forward to next time!

I used to order from here regularly when it was Bengal Bertie’s; they were wonderfully polite and helpful. However, I went in their today to order a takeaway and had my electric fold up bike (£1.5K) with me. Whilst one waiter politely helped, another came over and told me no bikes allowed; classically impolite and jobs worthy. This is the second bad and slightly ‘odd’ experience I have had since it has been taken over. Weird place. It turned out to be very fortunate though, as I found another restaurant ‘Indian Bengal’ down the road, who were so helpful that they even helped me with my bike as I waited for my order; perfect customer service. My new local. I shall not be using ‘Bombay Rickshaw’ again. - TV Producer / Director

Mixed feelings about this place. We ordered for collection. The chicken tikka masala was really good BUT two things were wrong with the order. We ordered some rice, but this was missing. And the duck breast dish we ordered was definitely not duck breast. We think it was probably duck liver, or some other kind liver. Would probably order the chicken tikka again, but not much else... Disappointing.

We stopped here off the cuff on the way back to Manchester to avoid the traffic and we are very glad we did. The food was hot and tasty, Nan breads where perfect and the staff where very friendly and polite. I would definitely return if we where in the area. Fantastic 👍

Just had a takeaway with my husband. Honestly the best curry I have had in years and I love curry. Food was delicious came a little late but not surprising as the quality of food is outstanding. I would definitely recommend this.

We had a chicken tikka bhuna and a chicken tikka rogan josh with pilau rice and it was excellent. Delivery was before the estimated time and the food was hot. We will be back!

We visited this place on the 11th of December 2021 as a family as I was celebrating my birthday. As soon as we arrived we were nicely greeted by a member of staff. The food was simply beautiful and authentic. The best indian restaurant I have been to so far and trust me, I am well travelled. Fresh food cooked to the highest standards creating a range of imaginative fusions. I was really touched by the fact that towards the end, they brought a birthday cake with candles to our table. Very friendly people. Thank you so much. We will definitely come back when visiting London.

This is our local Indian and we absolutely love it. We get takeaways regularly and have eaten in a couple of times. We visited on New Years Eve and there was a great atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious. The Handi Ghosht is my favourite, the lamb falls apart and it’s so flavoursome. The staff are what makes this restaurant even better as they are so lovely and the service is amazing. It’s also BYOB which is a bonus. Would 100% recommend.

After trying many alternatives, Bombay Rickshaw has the best Chicken Tikka Masala in the neighbourhood. Friendly service and they're always eager to please. Food comes freshly prepared, on time and tastes excellent. They even go above and beyond and make Paneer Tikka masala for my wife (off the menu!). Sorry to all of the other Indian restaurants in the area but this is the best. You can order on their app (it had many more options there too). Keep up the great work!

This is our local Indian and we absolutely love it. We get takeaways regularly and have eaten in a couple of times with friends, including on NYE. It’s amazing every time, quality tender meat and such nice flavours. The team are what makes it so amazing though, every single member of staff is so friendly and welcoming. It’s BYOB as well which is a real bonus.

I’ve come here a few times and it’s consistently great. Such good value too (the Wednesday Deal is unbelievable) and the staff are so friendly, accommodating and grateful to have you.

To be honest I don’t care what other customers say on here in regards that the food is poor quality . Let me tell you this , one of the very first best curries in the area , honestly these guys behind the cooking scene as per customer service is just great , keep it up !! We’ve eaten here several times in the past couple of months, both dine-in and takeaway/delivery, and each time the food was really delicious. Particularly recommend the house specials, a number of which are rarely found in other restaurants, and they have excellent vegetarian options too. Big portions and very friendly, attentive service. We’re happy to live close to this restaurant and would recommend it highly.
