Bobs & Berts in Belfast

We ended up visiting here twice on our trip to Belfast as our boys particularly enjoyed the smoothies. Nice cakes and coffee.

Overrated and overpriced. I went in there the other day and I asked for a toasted soda bread and well done bacon that’s all I asked for in a cup of tea and they charge me £8.75. Outcomes the toasted soda with a plate full of bacon, greasy fat. I asked the young server to get me a piece of back bacon, not that greasy fatty bacon . She returned with the same soda bread that she took away and one piece of so-called back bacon that had half of the fat on it . I cut the fan off and I put it on a quarter of the soda and I used jam for the rest of the soda . I went up and I asked her why she charged me 875 for that not even a full slice of bacon. She said that that was the cost and she broke it down the other thing. it was disgustingly undercooked and fatty. She should’ve at least given me two pieces for my soda bread so that I could’ve at least put it on a sandwich, but that did not happen. I will go back to this café for anything because it’s not the first time I’ve had either a cold or a bacon meal .

Food was great! Eggs benedict was one of the best I've had! We had a mixture of desserts which were amazing. The waitress also gave us a free slice of birthday cake as I was wearing a birthday badge, that was appreciated! Would defo recommend for brunch!

I’ve only ever had coffee and a traybake twice in this franchise and I know why. First time the coffee was tasteless and the traybake like a hard piece of wood. The second time round wasn’t any different. Who eats in these places? Overpriced cheap buns which taste hard and of absolutely nothing I may as well eat sawdust

I love B&B but it's got a bit expensive. Recently enjoyed loaded fries and coffee with friends. Toilets clean lots of room for prams

The staff got our order wrong (it happens no biggy) and then blamed us for it (not so good) and were rude about fixing it (pretty poor). From there is degenerated into the ridiculous. From where we were sitting I could hear them talking about us in the kitchen and complaining about us and it was clear one staff member had passed the order to the other incorrectly (regarding the drinks). We had our drinks and I then walked past the till and a different staff (the chap that had taken the initial order) member then sarcastically said ‘Have a nice day’ clearly thinking I was leaving. I wasn’t leaving but looking at the menu. I know it’s hard to reflect tone and an objective person will say that they were just saying it normally but sarcasm is very easy to detect when not applied subtilely (and this was not subtle). I didn’t acknowledge it because….life is too short …and went back to my family. We then left…. passing the till again ….and he said the same thing louder and with more emphasis on the sarcasm.I said thank you, you too and went to leave with my family. A third staff member then said ‘yeah our pleasure’ in a loud and very sarcastic tone in front of the whole cafe. Other customers stopped and looked. He then followed that up by saying to my wife ‘I’m usually a nice person but I am sarcastic when you give my colleagues crap’. No one had given them any ‘crap’. We were polite about their mistake. They got our order wrong and blamed us for it. He wasn’t even present when that order was made so his comments were clearly going off the gossip in the kitchen when the other staff were complaining about us. I did order the wrong thing separately (food) not realising that something that sounded vegetarian had meat in it (the menu is digital and flicks through the screen quickly and I missed it…though it is very small!!). I didn’t complain or ask for a refund for the food because I had read the menu wrong. I just didn’t eat it because it had meat in it and I’m vegetarian. That was my mistake and didn’t mention it to the staff. Though they offered no resolution but I just left that to experience. The member of staff that said he was sarcastic because we had given his colleagues ‘crap’ continued to sound off at us in front of the assistant manager and had to be asked to go away by her 3 times. He wasn’t even present when the order was made and was talking absolute nonsense full of inaccuracy. After all of the rudeness on leaving the assistant manager refunded our whole bill and apologised. Her suggestion not ours as she accepted the staff behaviour was wrong. She explained they had had a hard week and someone had called in sick that day and apologised for being rude over the drinks order articulating that it was down to the stress of the week and staff being sick. In fairness to her she is the only one of the three that showed some form of decency. We all make mistakes and are human. It was an amazingly bizarre way to treat people and I still can’t believe this happened from ordering two hot chocolates with cream and marshmallows!! First world problems! There were crossed wires all over the place between the staff but rather than try and find a resolution they just reacted to what each other had said to each other, were defensive, rude and sarcastic. It was really immature and if I owned the business I would be very worried that this culture towards customer service exists. Staff should try and avoid confrontation and not needle at customers and then be openly rude to them. Really sad because our family love Bob and Bert’s and visit the different cafes regularly. It was so humiliating and unnecessary. We just wanted a bit of family time in a nice setting. That said as always the drinks were great.

This was our treat breakfast on our girls trip to Belfast - pancakes and waffles. At more than twice the price of a full English at Wetherspoons! I was a little disappointed that my 'stack' of pancakes was only actually 2 pancakes - surely you need more than 2 to be classed as a 'stack'!? But they were actually more filling than expected thankfully. I choose bacon and maple syrup but saw other pancakes came with strawberries, so I asked for this to be an add on. £1 got me a teeny tiny portion of about 2 strawberries served in a tiny jars that you usually get ketchup or a sauce on the side in! Service was fast and the restaurant was very clean. We liked the decor and motifs on the walls. Slightly larger portions would have brought this upto a 5* review.

Ordered a poached egg on toast, but the eggs were tough and over cooked, the bacon was alright but not the best quality either, very tough also and hard to cut. Could definitely make it better myself and for the price, I would expect much better. Only thing I really ate was the toast it came with. Lastly, I sat on a booth and there was bird excrement on the seat right beside us as I’m sure the seagulls from the street come in regularly. Will definitely not be back.

Here in Belfast for a few days and found bobs and Bert’s. Very welcoming staff and great food. Loved the atmosphere and added bonus allowed our small dig in. All in a nice experience.

Went here for cake and coffee, was not disappointed. The cakes were wonderful, the drinks were amazing, and the little booths were lovely. I loved the decor, would love to come here again.

Reasonably priced, especially for breakfast. Great choices on the menu and friendly staff. Very clean and prompt service

First time visit and aboslutely delighted with the results. Best hot choc ive had. Really friendly staff. Quick service. Very comfortable and great atmosphere. Will be back again defo to try some food.

Best breakfast this side of the border the menu is fantastic! Staff are so helpful Food is so fresh Restaurant so clean and tidy I would recommend this little hidden gem to anyone. A big thanks to the manager a fantastic girl nothing was too much hassle

Possibly the worst lunch I’ve had out in Belfast, 3 tiny bits of chicken and a scoop of chips for £8 and chill cubes that where basically raw, shambles of a lunch and will not be back.. avoid

Went to stranmillis rd bobandberts this morning we had2 great breakfasts with coffee only complaint is why we were charged different price than on your website ?

What a fantastic day out for me and my family, staff were brilliant, food was out of this world but can't wait for city picnic reopening

Pulled pork BBQ burger lovely, very nice informal place to eat. Plenty to choose from. Close to City Hall, amongst shops, right by where you get the bus to Titanic, just off Wellington Place.

Visited Bobs & Berts for breakfast & was not disappointed. Cheery & friendly service. Excellent breakfast options including veggie friendly ones. Came out really quickly too. A real find. Would definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

Well, need I say more? 5* is fully deserved. Stumbled upon this place and rather glad we did. It's quick, the coffee is good and the food even better. Both had the breakfast, which did the job and more. Full of flavour... Cooked to perfection....

I've visited this restaurant a few times recently - especially if staying in a city centre hotel but don't fancy paying their breakfast prices. The spud stack breakfast is divine. The staff are always efficient and friendly. I would eat here again.

Went to have breakfast. Returned next day for lunch and the following day for late lunch. Friendly, cleaning, welcoming. Staff helpful. Lovely sandwiches, and fantastic sausages rolls. Stay as long as your like with a cuppa and a book and take in the atmosphere.

Staff were very polite, cafe was well decorated. Food was quick at coming out of kitchen and well presented. Lots of options for meat eaters, although not any breakfast vegetarian options which was disapointing. Would go back :)
