Went in more through circumstance, then read the reviews which it turns out are highly accurate. Absolutely NO meat on the ribs and the chicken didn't look cooked. Mine was tasteless with a funny smell to it. Just grim all round. My partner said he thought this is what the food in China might be like, I've been and can say hand on heart this isn't the case. This is some of the worst food I've ever had

Excellent food, perfect spice and clean would go again

This place did not need to go so hard, but they did. As someone who's Malaysian and lived in HK before, this place lives up to satisfy my cravings. The claypot rice was really really good, and for its price and quality, I was more than happy to write this review as it was student friendly and student satisfied. The staff were also super nice and all around if you want a good claypot place I would recommend this.

Absolutely loved it!!!! Tried the spicy beef udon noodle with soup and it was perfect. Size was perfect for one person and the spice was spot on. The broth and beef was so flavourful. The noodles were cooked to perfection.

It is our first time of visit and we are totally in love with the meals there. Pepper Pork Belly Soup is definitely a must-try for any fancy pork belly skin - very generous portion of soup and by its authentic taste there must have been a lot of ingredients put inside while cooking. The soup came to us really hot and that kept us warm during the winter. Clay pot was also a great dish and the portion was relatively on average. All toppings was seasoned well and very rarely we could find lilly bulb / cloud ear雲耳 in the country. I wish there could be more “burnt rice” (飯焦) as this is the feature of clay pot rice. It took us around £40 for these two dishes and price was reasonable given the rareness of ingredients.

Great find late one evening, delicious and fresh food, and very good service. A little cool inside, but otherwise a great meal.

I've been here many times, and it's the taste I want to eat.

I ordered Beef,chicken and spare ribs. It came on a bed of boiled rice with a few thinly sliced mushrooms. It was tastless, very small portions of meat, the spare ribs were about 3/4 of an inch long and had no meat on them, very dissapointing and would not go back.

My boyfriend and I were really excited to try Bobo Express during our short trip to Sheffield that we had been planning for months. We enjoy trying foods from different cultures and since Bobo Express is in the heart of the city centre - we thought we couldn't go wrong. However, we were very wrong. Upon arriving into the restaurant, we were met with a man and woman who came across as grumpy, unfriendly and unprofessional. I was curious as to what the filling was inside the dumplings so I asked about it. The man replied 'pork' in a really snappy abrupt way. I was a bit surprised by his manner since we were polite and friendly, it was our first time in the restaurant and I had simply asked a question about the dish. It was his chance to sell the dish and he certainly didn't do that at all. My boyfriend and I had planned to dine in but since the attitude of the staff members left more to be desired, we decided to order a take out. We also planned to have a starter and a main course, but the attitude of the man and the woman was terribly off-putting. We decided to just get starters instead. I ordered chicken honey wings and my boyfriend ordered steamed dumplings. What was meant to be chicken 'honey' wings didn't taste of any honey, in fact the wings didn't taste of anything at all. I paid £6 something for 4 or 5 small, dry flavourless chicken wings. It didn't come with any sauce either. My boyfriend's steamed dumplings tasted a bit better than my chicken wings, but they still left a lot to be desired. Neither of us enjoyed our food and the customer service was absolutely awful. The man and the woman are very rude and need to rethink their attitude when dealing with people from different cultural backgrounds. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect whether they share the same ethnic background as you or not. Terrible customer service and terrible food.

特别不好吃！非常不推荐！除了锅巴是好吃的之外，剩下的食材和煲仔饭一点关系都没有，田鸡香菇煲仔饭，田鸡一个味道，香菇一个味道，没有任何联系！咖喱鱼丸也特别不好吃！就是冷冻的鱼丸浇上一点都不好吃的咖喱，鱼丸咬一口里面还是冷的！是我吃过谢菲中餐里最不好吃的之一了！

Had the spicy chicken udon big pot noodles. Definitely the yummiest one I had. Also ordered the honey fried chicken, Chicken dumplings and hot and spicy beef noodles. All for a total of £34, which I would say it was worth it. We left with a big smile on our face🤌🏻🥹. Definitely will go back.

Nice clay pot rice , however this place is a place suited to mainland Chinese student with we chat Alipay ordering system. Cash only or we chat pay. Not a place for westerner as they wouldn’t understand the food and system, hence some poor reviews which should be discounted as they don’t have the clay pot culture. For myself personally I would of liked it to be a bigger bowl .

the soup was delicious and came in a huge bowl, fed two people just fine. the server also gave me an extra bowl and fork so I could share the soup with my friend even though I hadn't ordered anything which was so sweet, highly recommend.

They've got a lot different variety of foods and its also at a good price 👍

Relaxing atmosphere with a huge menu to choose from.

Not even worthy of a 1 star. Customer service was non existent. They add a 5% service charge but only give certain customers full equipment to eat with. Not once did we get a check back on our food and because of this we couldn’t express our dislike and poor quality of the food provided. We both ordered dumplings 1 steamed and 1 fried. The steamed dumplings were more boiled and were drowning in water and were soggy. Flavour wise I must commend the seasoning. The fried dumplings were burnt and crisp and not pleasant to eat at all. Overall I did not enjoy my time at Bobo Express nor would I recommend to anyone wanting a decent meal worth the price

Really nice food! Was good value for money, really nice portions, food came out quick and steaming hot, and my spicy noodles were decently spicy! Do bear in mind, they only accept cash, WePay or Alipay, so no card, but there are plenty of cash points in the centre of town so not a big deal. Definitely will go again and explore more of the menu, the selection seems to be quite authentic Chinese cuisine!

Been here a couple of times and there's a great menu to choose from. In particular the pork and jellyfish in chilli oil and any of their large soup noodles are delicious. Clay pot rice was alright and their prices are extremely reasonable (around £8-10 a dish, you can eat like a king for £15), yet another excellent Chinese restaurant in Sheffield.

Food covers a wide range, very healthy, delicious and affordable. The environment is also bright and cosy. Highly recommended!

First visit today and won’t be the last. Staff helpful and food was gorgeous! Only negative is that they could do with having a menu in English as the app is only half translated as well. But other than that, we’ll definitely return

Absolutely brilliant. Came to Sheffield for a food crawl today with friends. I have tried one claypot rice from this restaurant when they was in taste orient. Having raved to my friends about it we came here as of last meal. It was quiet when we came and was kinda shocked. Anyway we went ahead and placed or orders. Food came out and the staff added soya sauce to our clay pot which sizzled We all got our phones out to take pictures and the staff laughed and joined with us. Everyone enjoyed the food here and we was trying to think where in Leeds or Manchester had a claypot rice place...No where. I'll keep this review sorry and sweet... I really like clay pot steam rice dish

Terribly rude, I was humiliated (and left hungry). I'm a wheelchair user, and am not British - so I'm constantly on the hunt for good food in my new city. If i find a place with authentic or even just delicious food, I'm a loyal customer and big tipper. Sadly I've not been able to eat at 98% of restaurants I want to. And I'm really tired of the excuses which hold no weight at all. But worst of all is when I'm given a BS excuse as to why the restaurant isn't #accessible, while being mocked, abused, or made fun of. I've been after authentic Cantonese food and heard good things about bobo. Was told they were accessible yet when I got there, there were steps into the restaurant. But they had an 'accessible' automatic door opener with the wheelchair symbol, so i assumed they had a ramp. They ignored me as long as they could til a customer came to talk to me outside. He got a female employee who told me they didn't have a portable ramp. I asked why the wheelchair symbol was there and she said, very sarcastically and condescendingly, "well, I didn't design the building", laughed and walked away. I don't care who designed the building, but why can't they spend £30 just once to have a ramp? I was humiliated, as I so often am when I try to go out for a meal.

One of the best clay pot rice in town. The price is pretty decent for the quality of the food. I would like to visit there again if I am in Sheffield. The service is pretty help yourself.

Simple, quick Chinese food, mainly clay pot rice/noodles/congee at £6 - £11. Great for a quick meal with no hassle.

Authentic interesting Chinese food from many regions of China and not just Cantonese. Delicious herbal soups are one of their specialties.

He estado aquí con mi familia varias veces. La primera vez que visitamos Bobo Express me enamoré de su claypot arroz y verduras. Antes de pedir algo, estaba un poco ansioso porque no estaba seguro si podía esperar que me ofrecieran opciones veganas. Pero a pesar de su inmenso menú, los cocineros estaban abiertos a cualquier idea de platos que me conviniera. Obtuve una combinación fresca y deliciosa de champiñones y verduras con arroz caliente y eso era exactamente lo que necesitaba ese día. En mis próximas visitas no me decepcionó. La calidad de la comida todavía era excelente y sé que seguiré recomendando este lugar para cualquiera que busque sabrosa cocina tradicional, un servicio encantador y un espacio pequeño y acogedor para pasar tiempo con amigos y familiares.

One of the worst places in sheffield. Had claypot noodle dish that cost around £9 - barely any meat in it, what meat there was barely resembled meat. Basically £9 for a bowl of less than average egg noodles. Plenty of far better places in sheffield around west one area.

Gran descubrimiento en el centro de la ciudad de Sheffield. El servicio era amable y eficiente, y el precio era buena relación calidad-precio. El arroz estaba delicioso estilo claypot, el arroz en sí estaba muy bien preparado y el cerdo saladas peces de vientre que tenía en ella era suculento. El condimento aceite de chili en el lado es realmente buena, picante pero adictivo. Lo más destacado para mí fue la variedad de sopas que son duros, trayendo doble el sabor de los ingredientes. Se puede decir que es hecha, como las costillas en la sopa que tenía era tan rosado y tierno que venía del hueso. No he tenido estos sabores de casa en un rato y realmente lo disfruté. Las bebidas también bastante barato en 1. 50 para una bebida caliente, hicieron bien no enlatada o paquete. Tuve la miel rojos fecha. Las bolas de pan frito (guo tie/gyoza) estaban recién fritos y delicioso. Sin duda, volveré cada vez que estoy en Sheffield, especialmente para la sopa. Lo tomé de una niña china, la sopa es legitimo. También tienen un estilo cantonés congee que gachas/ansío probar. Si viviese en Sheffield, me frecuentan este lugar para algunos alimentos alma china.

Great find in Sheffield city centre! Service was friendly and efficient, and price was value for money. The claypot style rice was delicious, the rice itself was very well cooked and the salted fish pork belly that I had with it was succulent. The chilli oil condiment on the side is really good, spicy but addictive. The highlight for me was the variety of soups they have, which are double-boiled, bringing out the flavour of the ingredients. You can tell it's cooked properly, as the pork ribs in the soup I had was so pink and tender it came off the bone. I have not had these flavours of home in awhile and really enjoyed it. Drinks also pretty cheap at 1.50 for a hot drink, made properly not canned or packet. I had the honey red date tea. Would definitely return again each time I am in Sheffield, especially for the soup. They also have cantonese style porridge/congee which I look forward to trying.

We've had food delivered to us several times and it has been delicious. The dumplings taste fresh and well flavoured. The 2 claypots were also delicious however the quantity of the dish was disappointing considering we paid £9.50 for each. The ingredients were thinly sliced and there wasn't much rice. It was highlighted by a few of my friends too. If this could improve it will be 5/5.

Ordered a takeaway for 2 and it was really delicious. The bang bang chicken, minced pork and pickled vegetable rice clay pot, and pan fried dumplings in particular were amazing. So much better than your average takeaway! And came really quickly. Thank you!

Got a takeaway from here based on the good looking dumplings on deliveroo. Ordered some dumpling which were nothing like the picture and not great tasting. We then ordered 2 of the clay pot dishes, I had the beef ribs in garlic which was just a dish of unflavoured cooked white rich with some small portions of ribs on top. Most of the ribs were all fat and gristle and just inedible. My girlfriend enjoyed her noodles in black bean but I would never eat here again based on my terrible dish.

I personally like claypot rice very much and have tried many claypots in Sheffield as well as some other restaurants across the UK. In my opinion this restaurant has the best claypots I have ever eaten in the UK. I tried few claypots as well as some other side dishes here with my wife. The foods are excellent and comparable with the claypots I used to eat in Asia. The rice is freshly cooked and the portion is just about the right size for me. The foods look healthy too. The price of claypots is cheap considering the location. I would highly recommend mini rib claypot rice which is my favourite. Staffs are friendly and the restaurant is spacious too!

Good food at a decent price, with friendly service, in a spacious, clean restaurant! What else could you ask for? Will definitely be visiting again!

I have tried this place twice so far. I had them pack me something for take away yesterday and now I'm back here having dinner! There is ample space for atleast thirty five people (or more) in this restaurant, on heavy, stable wooden stools at tables for two or four people, which could easily be re-arranged to accommodate more. The seating is spaced so that you don't end up elbowing people next to you or having to share tables! The young lady who helped me order yesterday and took my order today is very friendly and patient. She took the time to go through the menu with me on both occasions and helped me order my food based on what I said my favourite flavours are. The food here is tasty and the quantity served is more than adequate. I have tried noodles with pork and black bean, claypot rice with Chinese sausage and pork, shredded chicken with sesame and chilli sauce and also pork dumplings and it's been amazing! I will be definitely coming back here again!

Not gonna go there again, rice were burnt and stuck at the bottom, pork bun had little to nothing and were hard as rocks, luckily the owner were nice enough to replace it. the only good thing was the bubble tea.

We went to bobo express on Tuesday night. Myself husband and son.it was a really nice experience. The man who owned it explained the menu really well.we decided to try thing we had never tried before we tried pigs feet and jellyfish. And some hot and cold dishes the food was excellent. And the staff were so friendly. Please try a nice young man trying something a little bit different .

Stopped in after seeing the good looking food on the windows. I'm really glad I did. The dumplings were huge and the clay pot noodles where delicious with different cuts of pork included. Very good value price wise, large portions for not a lot of money. Will definitely visit again.
