Called in today during the Northwich Pokémon hunt. To even see this place in existence is brilliant. A safe haven for people to enjoy wholesome fun. To people complaining at £3 for 3 hours, please take just 5 minutes and google ‘running a high street shop costs’. It’s literally going to be running a loss if you don’t eat/drink there I can almost guarantee it. Best of luck to Boardbeans wish you ultimate success and hope you have a long fun future

We love this cafe! Such a great place to come and have some fun. The selection of games is insane! You will find a game that suits everyone and if you don’t know how to play then the super friendly staff will teach you and play with you. The vibe is fun and cozy. We regularly go to board beans - such a great place which caters for all generations and allows grown ups to be kids again! Staff are always very welcoming and helpful. I always try and book so we don’t get disappointed if they are full!

Only been here twice but the second time was not a good impression, I came with my partner to meet up with a friend hoping to have a few games the evening started out well with a nice atmosphere but fairly quickly a very rowdy group began shouting and just overall being a little obnoxious, I understand enjoying games but I expected a certain amount of wariness for over customers. I wasn't able to hear my friend or my partner over the group, again I understand games can be exciting and you can get caught up in it but this was beyond that. By halfway through my game the atmosphere seemed more like a pub than a café (in all honesty I have had an easier time playing at Wetherspoons) I normally wouldn't mind but since we had to pay for a table as well I didn't feel it was worth it to have to put up with that.

Walked past and thought we give it a go. Friendly staff, great selection of games and atmosphere. We went as a family with two pretty young ones (3&5) and found plenty of suitable games. There’s something for every age. We will come back!

We booked out a few tables for a gathering and the staff were super helpful all evening. Whenever we needed anything they were on hand, the selection of food and drinks all looked good. Really nice atmosphere and great selection of games to choose from, would definatley visit here again.

A great, local independent. There were 5 of us and total cost for 10 cokes, toast and 3 sweet / savoury bowls, along with 2 hours of gaming was under £10 per person. Great value and very knowledgeable staff.

This is the most marvellous place for an unbelievable choice of board games, and delicious food. There is nowhere better to enjoy a wonderful time with children. We all love it !!!

Great, mature atmosphere that's great for both adults and kids. If you're wanting to sit down and play a game with your family or friends then this is definitely the best place to go. Great selection of food and drink, friendly and happy staff that will be very happy to help you pick out and learn a game. And speaking of games, theres an amazing wide selection of board games to choose from, with shelves going as high as the ceiling. If you fancy an afternoon sit down, with some good food and fun games, this is definitely the place you want to visit.

This place is great. Really friendly. Loads of interesting games. Lovely coffee and cake. We visit often and easily spend and afternoon or evening having fun. Edit: They will even do a deconstructed g&t.

This is a brilliant place! My wife and I went for a date night and had a really fun time. The staff were very helpful and suggested games and even went through how to play (optional if you like to read the rules yourself). The place does food which was really nice and its all very well priced! My new fav game is patchwork. I sound like i work here lol, but no, go check out this place!!!

Unique experience at this cafe. It is essentially a games playing area that sells coffee, food and drinks. Place was busy when i was there and a great atmosphere of families of all ages interacting over board games. Should be more places like this. World would be a happier place.

Great place for a family day out in the afternoon. We booked table in advance as it can be busy. The service was friendly and helpful. The children enjoyed the selection of board games. Will definitely be back.

We went today for the 1st time, the cafe is jam packed with hundreds of boardgames for any age. I went with a friend and my 2 boys, age 6 and 8. We played games for 3 and a half hours, they didn't want to leave. The staff were very friendly and also knowledgeable about the games they had, very willing to help and reccomend. The service was EXCELLENT! We ordered hotdogs, savory and sweet nibbles, crumpets, tea and hot chocolates, and will definitely make it a regular treat! It's our new happy place.

Great little board games cafe with a huge range of games to choose from. Game recommendations and explanations were really good. The panini sandwich and milkshakes were also excellent.

Such a fantastic location! Northwich is mega lucky to have such an excellent destination on the high street. Service is excellent and the range of games is brilliant.

Lovely little cafe. Went with my daughter and we enjoyed the milkshake, coffee and bowl of sweets! The sweet bowl was massive and you could choose what went in it. Coffee was also huge and delicious. My daughter loves her milkshake. Loads of fun games to choose from. We'll definitely return.

Really high quality boardgame cafe. For such a small footprint there is an incredible range of games from big to small. The owners make you feel like you’re a regular immediately and are more than happy to help you out with games. Also the food is worth a visit on its own, had the nachos and they were some of the best I’ve had.

A brilliant edition to Northwich! It does get busy at peak times, so I would recommend booking if you don't want to be disappointed. The café has a lovely, chilled atmosphere and, as you'd expect, a huge range of games to choose from! If you don't know where to start, just let the staff know what kind of thing you like (or don't like!) playing - they'll pick something for you and get you started; every suggestion they've made for us has been great! There is a decent range of items on the menu with reasonable prices to provide fuel for your gaming session!

I have been a few times with to the cafe and every time I have had a great time and the 3 hours have just flown by. So many games to play with knowledgeable staff to help out if you’re struggling to work out how to play a new game. The coffee is great and I like how you can build your own panini and wraps. All in all, lovely stuff.

A cafe with lots of games (100's) available for all ages. the food was good and nearly all tables were occupied with people playing games. there are also games nights, Pokémon was advertised for example. nice friendly place, worth a visit

Brilliant cafe with super friendly staff and an amazing selection of games to choose from to play (although you can just go in for a drink, grab a takeaway coffee etc). The staff are happy to suggest a game if you can't decide on one and will teach you how to play it. They have a good selection of drinks and there are always delicious, freshly baked cakes available.

Best place in Northwich. Great food and drinks. I have been at various different times during the day, from AM all the way through to being chased out past closing. Brilliant range of games, both new an old. All very reasonably priced when you account for the fact that the (very attractive) owner will not only help you choose a game to play, but will also help you get started, so you don't need to mess about reading badly translated rule books. Also a good selection of games to purchase, which help you avoid Amazon Could not recommend Board Beans more highly. Oh also the cake is great

Very nice place. Owners are very friendly. All of the members of staff are amazing and quick to serve you. They are also very happy to help you pick out a game from beginner to advanced. I am someone who finds it very hard to settle in to places due to having anxiety but board beans is like a second home to me and it’s all thanks to to the lovely atmosphere of that beautiful place. If you haven’t been then what are you doing? Book a table and get down there!

Favourite place to spend a couple of hours. Such a large variety of games, many of which we’d never heard of before coming here. Good atmosphere with lovely, friendly staff that are happy to help with game recommendations and set up. Selection of snacks, food and drink is good too and can adapt to some awkward customers ;)

This is the best board gaming cafe I have ever been in. The staff are the friendliest of any cafe, in any city, in any country in the world. If you like playing board games you would be a fool not to go here.

Great night out. Really safe and so much fun

We brought our four year old here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The selection of games for kids was reasonable, the food and the quiet atmosphere were good and we will be returning. However, the experience was let down by poor service. The food we ordered took half an hour, despite only being three paninis and there being noone else ordering food. I also had to wait several minutes for an employee to finish their game before being able to pay, despite being stood next to the till. Never the less, it was on the whole a good experience.

Kids and I had a great time as always, gaming pods ensure social distancing and the used games area ensures a high level of safety.

A huge variety of board games, friendly staff, a great atmosphere and great food too.

Good atmosphere and friendly service. Food was OK. Some of the games were a little worn (e.g. guess who didn't have stands to hold the boards up, the Uno card deck was tatty). I am being a bit picky though. We had a great time there and would go back.

Board Bean has been a place I've enjoyed on every visit. It's staffed with friendly, knowledgeable faces who can help with more then just your food order. The sheer number of board games in store for playing in the library offers a great selection for any age and experience. The food and drinks are also, great for any age that I've seen, catering to so many whilst providing tasty meals and snacks. They have regular evenings for gamers, from school age, to adult, casual to adult. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Great place for a family friendly night out.

Was really excited to go, went down at 8pm to see the place closed up. The online and in store opening hours clearly state they are open until 10pm. All you have to do is let people know if you are closing early, but not even an explanatory notice in the window.

Such a great concept, the cafe is full of board games and the staff were very accommodating on our first visit. I'm all for supporting local business, but unfortunately I didn't feel the food we had represented good value for money - maybe it was just the day we went, and judging by other reviews with photos of the food, It may have been a one off thing. Nonetheless the food we ordered cost £4.95 and consisted of a piece of bread topper with tomatoes,balsamic vinegar & vegan cheese which was nice. However it was accompanied by a really tiny salad, and in fact there was one piece of cucumber on it but it was about a 1cm cube, and that was all of the cucumber in my salad. It also came with a side of crisps but I recieved a mean 4 in total :( I came out feeling a bit hungry to tell the truth. I will try again as I think the board game aspect is a real treat.

Fantastic place for an alternative night out or a family afternoon. Superb selection of games for every level of interest from beginner to enthusiast. I go almost every week because its so nice and fun 😁

I first visited when the café first opened and have been going regularly ever since. The people are really friendly and can teach you how to play the games if you are unsure how to play or don't want to read rules for ages and there are a good variety of games for all tastes. The food and drink is great too and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Superb afternoon in a extremely welcoming environment. Highly recommended.

Loved it! Our party had a panini and a pizzadilla (like quesadillas but with cheese and tomato) and they were delicious. Had a super fun game of Battle Line which was explained thoroughly to us whilst we enjoyed delicious coffee and a bowl of jelly beans. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere and staff were welcoming. I was even enjoying the background music without being distracted by it. Spending a couple of hours there while ordering drinks etc. can get a little pricey, but overall a genuinely fun and relaxing experience which I will be repeating soon! (Oh and lovely toilets!)

I really enjoyed this board game cafe. There is a good choice of games, for mixed ages and number of players. There is food and drink available which also includes beer and are reasonably priced. The staff are happy to explain game play so you dont need to spend loads of time reading the rules.

The staff can't do enough for you, they seem to have an encyclopedic knowledge of all the games they have to play, they have lots to choose from too! All the games are in great condition and there is something for everyone. Add Really well priced food and drink to the experience and it's the full package. I've visited several times with my son and will be a frequent visitor.

Brilliant idea for a cafe with friendly and helpful staff

Honestly this one of the best places in Northwich! Great food, affordable and friendly staff! It's £3 for three hours and you so many board games to play. They do special events evenings such as DnD or selected game nights. The menu caters for different dietary types and the drink selection has a range of alcoholic and soft drink options. Would 100% recommend coming here.

I'm really enjoying my time at Board Beans, the games are great, there's always a friendly atmosphere , the staff are super helpful and accommodating, plus they have a great selection of food and drinks.

Recently visited with my unit of Explorer scouts for a 'games night'. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. There's a huge range of games to play, suitable for a range of ages. I ordered a cappuccino which was so nice I then ordered a second one...my buzzing head has still not forgiven me! The premises are clean and tidy as are the cups and cutlery. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit and I will be visiting again and I'm sure my Explorers will too.

Wow this place is so relaxing. Snacks, whiskey, board games and laughs. Absolutely delightful new store making the people of Northwitch get together again. A wonderful creation, I wish the owners all the success they deserve!

Easily the most fun place to hang out. So many boardgames to choose from there is something for everyone. Staff are super friendly and always there to offer a helping hand understanding rules on some of the more overwhelming games, so no need to be afraid of trying something new. Food and Drinks are great too. All round great atmosphere, and nice to get lost in a game for a couple hours with snacks and drinks with friends.

I love this cafe, as it seems really chilled, and a wide variety of board games that can keep anyone busy. They serve food here, too which means you can eat whilst playing your favourite games! I would definitely recommend going there.

The best thing that could have come to northwich. The owner is amazing and staff are just incredible with my 3 year old. They always help to suggest games for you to play and help explain it to you.Its a daily trip for us after preschool and work. We wouldn't imagine going anywhere else. The food is amazing and really reasonable and the cakes are just to die for!
