My husband and I went here just before Christmas. We ordered two large sausages and a large portion of chips. We were told they only had small sausages so we'd be given 4 small ones, which was fine. It came to £4.50 in total. We got home and when we opened the container there were only 3 sausages inside and the portion of chips was barely enough for us both. Very disappointed and we felt it was a lot of money for not a lot of food. Chips were okay, but nothing special. Unlikely to go back unless they look at their pricing or at least review their portions sizes.

I used to Attend this fish bar before it closed for what seemed like forever then I heard from a friend that it was open. I went in ordered fish and chips with gravy. It came in a great box with great presentation. The chips were soooo nice Nd the fish was gorgeous. Highly recommended guys

New chippy opened up so thought I’d support the locals worse mistake of my life!! Chips weren’t burnt, battered sausage not cooked properly so whole dinner in the bin! Avoid at all costs!!

I was using this chippy regularly when George was in charge and was a great little local chippy. Then it shut for a long time and I'd given up hope of having a local chippy again. Much to my surprise I was walking past last night and it was open so I thought I'd pop in. I asked for sausage, chips & curry, was "offered" 2 sausages as there was only 2 small ones so said yes. The price = £5:50!!! That should've been my warning & I should've walked! I reluctantly paid as I like to support a little business like this. Then k get home, open up to find no sausages at all!! Seriously, I'd paid £5:50 for chips & curry which was bang average (at best). I was the only person in the shop so no excuse of confusion or anything like that? Honestly, I'm not sure people like this should be allowed to run a business, it certainly won't last long. All I can say is avoid at all costs & just go Tean or Meir chippy if you're in the area.

Went in one lunch time. Was great fish and chips and the portion was fantastic. The chips tasted like they were cooked in beef dripping (not sure if they were) but they were great! Highly recommend.

The worst fish and chips, I have had in 67 years, soggy greasy warmed through chips, fish in a soggy greasy batter, fish was dark in colour and did not look or taste fresh, after 2 mouthfuls, we threw them in the bin, disgusting, don't bother.

New owners in March 2015 and they certainly have a task on to turn around what was once a great chip shop which was changed dramatically by the last manager. Everything in there now is cooked very traditionally, the chips are lovely and yellow / brown, none of these transparent things you get in a lot of chip shops these days!! With it only being a small place most of your extras are cooked to order but these don't take long and the staff are pleasant and friendly. If they're not too busy they will even bring out your order to your car whilst you wait. Give them a go!

Went for breakfast, coffee machine broken so ended up with a cup of Tea Ordered 2 breakfasts and nice but helpings are getting smaller every time we go. Cake slices have gone very stingy and not much filling. But the carry on charging the same if not more. Did a bit of store shopping but prices high so shopping limited. Disappointed that this store have no charging facilities for electric cars etc. I cannot believe that we are in the year 2024 where Sainsbury's is advertising renewable energy and doing it's bit contributing towards saving the planet. But WHY has it not got EV Charging point a massive store with no facility to charge your cars.i fing This not only unbelievable but disgusting that a super sized store that been built a few years ago and would have had plenty of time to install chargers. I think I'll be shopping at Morrisons in leek at least they have chargers

We had not been to The Wheel for quite a while so decided to walk up and have tea. This is a lovely, old school traditional pub. The food was really good. The menu is exactly as you'd expect from a decent pub. Nothing fancy, no pages and pages to read through so you can't see the wood for the trees, just a good menu of real food at excellent prices. My husband had the lamb shank in red wine special and I had scampi. Portions were a good size and we both really enjoyed it. As it is such excellent value I am sure we will be back.

We ate in quite a few restaurants and visited twice in our 5 night stay. Once for a simple Pizza but the next for one of their specials. All very good and frankly very good value. Nice friendly staff as well
