Bluebell Inn in Malvern Hills

One major complaint is that it's practically impossible to use the WiFi because instead of just asking for my age, you're asked for your date of birth but are not allowed to select year of birth without navigating back one month at anytime- that's 646 taps to 1969 which is ludicrous, an awful system. Food was good but for me Colmans English mustard is a must, Heinz is sub standard. And freshly mashed potatoes would also be preferred.

We recently visited the Malvern hills and needed to get our lunch in the area. We were lucky enough to find this cosy and atmospheric country pub. We had a great lunch that catered for all our needs, Vegan, vegetarian and carnivores in our party. The food and service was excellent and we will be sure to go there again when we visit Malvern next time.

Family Saturday lunch time celebrating our Un_Birthdays. The Bluebell is beautiful inside and out. Very drinkable alcohol free ale so got to enjoy two pints with my food and still drive. Food was a bit slow to arrive but very worth the wait. Very tempting menu but we stuck to classics. Chicken and mushroom pie, Steak and Ale, (& mash potatoes and veg) chicken tikka masala and sea bass and mixed grill . Good sized portions, Didn't need dessert tho' very tempted. Staff very courteous. Very enjoyable lunch.

Great Pub with well tended to ales and lagers.. We were greeted friendly and sat promptly. Our drinks took no time at all and refills offered and delivered. Service was friendly and attentive. The portions were perfect and tasty and came out hot. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert, definitely next time.

Staff very friendly and welcoming, Cam and his team did a great job. Food was excellent... We had pies which were crisp with good fillings.

Despite the 30% discount my food was awful..supposed to be a veg curry with chick peas but just huge chunks of butternut squash in a tasteless sauce with no curry flavour! I've had better ready meals from Iceland!

Went at lunchtime not to busy but gradually got busier, nice atmosphere and very polite and friendly staff. The food was excellent piping hot and very tasty, l recommend the fish and chips, hunter's chicken and the apple and cherry crumble excellent. Had a meal there last night. I tried the cauliflower wings very nice, also had a mixed grill quite a plateful washed down with a couple of pints of Orchard Thieves a perfect night out Just been for the Xmas Dinner again l also had one last week, what can I say apart from Excellent. I had the pate starter followed by the main course of turkey, roast potatoes, carrot and parsnips, sprouts, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing ball,pig in a blanket, cranberry sauce and gravy. Followed by Xmas Apple and Cherry crumble with custard. And the usual 2 pints of Orchard Thieves. Please do go and try the Xmas menu it's a Cracker for both adults and children. Went for a meal last night, EXCELLENT again we had a sticky chicken starter, followed by the very best fish and chips in the area VFM. Not forgetting the 2 pints of Inch's River cider. A great atmosphere and excellent service really made the night.

Really enjoyed our too-brief stay in Malvern. Service at Cannara was wonderful. Comfortable lodging, easy parking, fantastic breakfast, good vibes all around. Great place - we hope to return someday.

I was able to book easily online for Sunday lunch. The food quality was excellent and served without delay. The only slight issue was that when we arrived at 12pm the room temperature was a bit on the cool side for an overcast chilly October day but after I requested for it to be increased it was soon at a pleasant temperature. We would however definitely return again.

We love the Bluebell but this visit there was a little problem. Cameron, the manager sorted it out for us with no quibble or judgement. An absolute professional. Superb service and food . We would highly recommend the Bluebell Inn 5*

This pub isn't what it used to be. Being polite now, we would visit for Sunday Lunch regularly (nearly every week) and the occasional meal out, as a treat. Now, the service is slow, the portions are 'rather skimpy' - but the food is OK (no complaints there) - if rather bland and mass produced (standard stuff really) and to be honest, although the pub is giving 30% off Main Meals, we would rather go eat elsewhere. We used to have a family pre-Christmas Meal here (for 4-5 continous years) & spend hundreds of pounds to treat the family (15-16 covers). But today, the pub has no atmosphere & there is not a great, friendly welcome either. Our choice - but this pub is not for us anymore. "Good Luck Bluebell !".....

Excellent food and atmosphere. Our doggy was allowed in and even got food and treats! We had to order food and drinks at the bar, but otherwise service was good.

Bar staff helpful and friendly. Clientele fleeting. More attention is needed to drinkers as most was on food. The choice of cider was very lacking at a whopping £6.30 a pint. The most expensive in malvern and almost all of Worcester... I simply couldn't afford nor justify visiting there again unless serious changes were made

Trio of meats, beef full of gristle and knives not sharp enough to cut. Overall food could have been hotter as it was all lukewarm. Seemed a long wait for lunch but they did appear busy. Cauliflower cheese looked lovely but it was made with mild cheese so there was no flavour to it. Veggies were all nice. Nothing majorly wrong but I have had much better sunday dinners at a lower price. Would I come back? Probably not Staff were friendly and it was all clean and tidy but the food didn't taste as good as it looked

Went for Sunday lunch with my family and Dani and the team were so welcoming, I’m so glad we found this gem and we are already planning our next visit, the pub is immaculate, the service is impeccable and the value is great thank you Dani for a great time

What a find! Visited here yesterday with my partner, the decor is amazing, food was spot on & the service was very attentive without being intrusive, would highly recommend the pate & sea-bass, great selection of real ales on tap. Will now be booking my Christmas party here!

We passed by whilst on a walk into Great Malvern town centre from the campsite. We stopped for coffee, which was very nice. The inside was clean, spacious and attractive, there was even a table dedicated to dogs, with treats and water bowls. We asked if we booked for dinner the following evening would we be able to stay overnight in our camper, they were very happy for us to stay and we had a lovely afternoon/ evening enjoying coffee, drinks and a yummy meal at a very reasonable price.Thank you very much, we would love to come again.

Went to the Bluebell for Sunday lunch with the family. Lovely staff and prompt service. The food, however, tasted pretty average and the portion sizes were very mean. Considering this, charging extra for mixing roast meats, cauliflower cheese and additional stuffing seemed very frugal. Nice atmosphere and staff but there are better options in the area.

Slow service, poor availability of items on menu, sadly this was a second change for the Bluebell after experiencing similar the first time we ate there but it is still the same weeks later and on a different day!

Popped in on off chance, really pleased we did. Kelly made us feel welcome from the off. Had a meal which was excellent, surroundings very clean.

We had a lovely Spring evening drink outside and ordered a bunch of starter dishes to nibble on too. Staff were very nice, but perhaps weren't as up on their wine options as you might expect. I asked for Sauvignon Blanc. Husband returned with "white".

Didn't need to wait for table. Food and drinks arrived quickly after ordering. Food was excellent. Friendly welcoming staff. Would recommend.

Have to say we have now been 4 times and decided to give Sunday lunch a go, have to say food was adequate and not up to its normal standard. Busy service but gentleman who appeared to be in charge didn’t really do himself any favours rushing around and talking bluntly to the rest of the team, food cold but waited 1 hour to have main course served, drinks ordered and didn’t arrive until chased. Waitress apologised. Not up to its normal standard, but owners didn’t appear to be around so maybe this is how it is if the owners are off. Has put me off going again to be fair.

Very unhelpful people, poor customer service, not willing to help, would expect better from such a lovely place.

Draught ales perfectly served, food piping hot & tasty, puddings delicious, only issue was the service was a little slow, however we weren’t in a rush so that was OK.

Food was fantastic. Atmosphere was ok, it was lunch time on a Wednesday. Shame the bar staff couldn't crack a smile, they are not the friendliest I've ever met.

Stopped off randomly for a pub lunch and immediately on arrival got a good welcoming vibe. As we were about to order the waitress told us about a 30% off voucher available online - she didn't need to do that - we were about to pay the full price. And when the food arrived it was excellent! So good I've just booked Christmas Day lunch there for my family.

Servers were helpful at trying to offer solutions for my Husband for the 2 course lunch menu offer when they did not have the cut of meat he ordered which was the only thing he could have from the lunchtime offer menu that we were choosing from due to being gluten free. The server went to speak with the manager to see what they could sort out and the manager was very abrupt and said they could not allow him to have anything off of the main menu as part of the lunchtime offer even if we were to pay slightly more as they cannot put it through the tills due to the ways the tills work. We were not told before we were given the menus and had chosen our meals that the steak was not available so he had chosen that because it is what he wanted along with the soup starter. He ended up with a bowl of chips because the other gf options weren’t what he had chosen or what he wanted to eat. The decor is lovely and the meals we did have were good quality but the service in providing options for someone to be able to choose from the lunchtime menu we wanted to order from who is gluten intolerant were limited to just the steak which wasn’t available and the manager was not going to offer any solutions to enable my husband to have the steak he wanted. There were so many ways around this it’s unreal. Edit: we were happy to pay the difference for the price in the steak if my husband could then have still had the two course meal but you said no because you couldn’t put that through the till due to how your tills work which is absolute nonsense all of us at that table have worked in this industry and are very aware that a manager/owner can override the tills and input things differently - you could have sorted this out and you didn’t want to. The gf menu was limited and hardly anything on it that was suitable for my husband I think he knows what he likes and doesn’t like. You could have worked around it and you chose to just say it couldn’t be done and not even offer him a way to be able to have the steak 🥩 he wanted. Do not deflect and try and make it look like you did everything you could because you did not. There were so many ways you could have worked around this and worked out a solution for us but you didn’t even ask if we were willing to pay the price for the bigger steak and then you would still provide the soup and gf bread as a gesture of goodwill - you just said you couldn’t (wouldn’t) over ride the till system. Poor customer service at best

Salad came out without the chicken, oter complaints witnessed from other tables. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the quality of food was very average pub grub. No potatoes to go with the seabass, so the fish was served ontop of chips. Very poor for the price.

On arrival we informed staff we had a gift voucher worth £20 birthday gift for wife ,the young lady checked and said that's fine ,food ok staff couldn't do enough but on payment was told the £20 voucher could not be used as the blue bell was not on the list of marstons pubs on line they are saying you can buy them ,very disappointed as the gilf was off our niece .we were looking forward to using the pub regularly but not happy we would like an explanation why this as occurred looking Forward to hearing from you thanks. An update on the review above ,as been resolved ,a nice reply off the manegar to say how sorry our dining experience when, couldn't do enough to correct the situation of a gift voucher mix up we were invited back to correct the situation which was dealt with by another manager on duty ,very professional and understanding, we had a lovely meal and experience like to thank them all and we will be dining there in the future.

Staff were friendly but service was extremely slow and unittentive had to wait very long even though there were very few customers. Food was very pricey for basic meals.

Came this afternoon for a family meal. The service was very fast and the staff very friendly. The food was to a high standard and very lovely. Would definitely recommend !

A fantastic experience. Food was spot on (Mixed Grill), the service and the people there were great and the pub itself is looked after and has a really comfortable feeling. Just mind your head if going in through the front door. Highly recommended!

All I wanted was a burger. It took nearly an hour to arrive and when it did it was the most disappointing burger I have ever eaten. For £17 I received a stale bun, rubbish burger (probably from frozen), 2 bits of soggy lettuce and a small quantity of Mc Donald's style fries. Way worse than a wetherspoon burger and over double the price. I ordered extra onion rings of which there were 3..also rubbish. Hannah had a veggie burger that she couldn't even finish. The bill came to over £50 including 3 pints...I had to have a second as the food took so long to arrive.

Very accommodating when a change to meal requested. Always great service and friendly staff.

Great place for a family gathering; service at the bar was excellent and on the whole the food was ok 👌. Would have preferred the roast potatoes to be larger and crispier and the green veg to be more interesting than peas and green beans, but on the whole a generous roast; loved the gravy!

Lovely food here. Quick service. Only downside was our female server stank of cigarette smoke. Would suggest having a mint or spraying something before coming and breathing stale smoke over your clientele.

Stopped here at the end of a cycling adventure. The garden was lovely as well as the environment inside. The food is good value and was fresh with great quality. I recommend!

We went for a family meal (7 of us) early on a Friday evening. The seating was good and the food was much better than the last visit a few years ago. What completely ruined it was the presence of a yappy dog that barked loudly and regularly (every 30 seconds or so) for the entire time we were there - we had to leave early as a elderly member of the family couldn't cope with the intrusive noise any longer. Why do they allow dogs into a restaurant? Why did the manager think having a dog barking next to people paying to dine was OK and chose to ignore it? The dog owners were completely oblivious to it of course. Awful experience. Avoid unless that you enjoy eating in that sort of atmosphere.

First of all the greeting from the 1 waitress was very poor. No smile. Then proceeded to tell us there was no steak, roasts or gammon. Once sat, we were then told there was no onion rings. The prices were over priced for what we received. Then, to top it all off, my daughter then got electrocuted by the lamp on the window sill as there was no light bulb in the one side of the light. We will NEVER be back to that pub.

We are visiting the Malverns and had previously stopped for lunch on a day trip before Covid. Remembered how nice it was so booked for an evening meal not disappointed.

Burger came out burnt. Replaced with just a burger and no bun. Yes I agreed that I just wanted the burgers replaced not the fries, but I would have thought common sense would be to give me a fresh whole burger complete with bun and lettuce. Can get a nicer meal at McDonald's for cheaper. Will not be coming back!!!!

The Bluebell Inn. What a pleasant surprise. After many years I have returned to the area and have been dismayed in the way Malvern has changed and not for the better. However,The Bluebell Inn has been transformed to how I remember it. As you walk in everything is fresh, clean and airy. Staff are welcoming and friendly. To drink I was presented with the chance to try a tipple of the three most popular ales before making a choice. My choice of “Old Thumper” ale was followed by a pint of “Banks Amber”. After supping these tasty pints I felt I should eat something, and wow was I in for a treat. As I was eating a large meal later that night, I chose a light lunch comprising of Hunters chicken in lovely slices of toasted homemade bread and a portion of chips. What a delight this was. If the standard was that good on something fairly simple, then what can I expect on my return indulging in a steak or one of the other mouth-watering main courses they offer. The Bluebell Inn has nice touches whilst I was there a woman taking her elderly Father out was made to feel very welcome and couple with a delightful what looked like a small husky, had obviously been there before again were welcomed like old friends. Another nice touch is those who are slightly infirm on their feet, can entrance via the back door where there are no steps and wide doors. The other thing is you can park right by the door what a great idea. Overall, The Bluebell Inn is welcoming, has an excellent choice of drinks, the food is superb and presentation was excellent. They manage to cater for all ages. I recommend them fully. As I said at the beginning of this review, I was pleasantly surprised and as the famous line in the Terminator says" I'll be back" lol. 30/5/2024- You know when you have been somewhere sometime ago and you return, you wonder whether it will be the same, well rest assured it was better. I returned with my aged 94 year old Father today and it was nice because I was able to park around the back and he could get to the table on level ground. I had pre-booked the table and we were able to get table 16 which in my view is the best all rounder. We were made to feel very welcome and the food and service was outstanding. I ordered the Hunters Chicken which is a favourite but my Father had the Lamb Koftas. After tasting these I wish I had them even though the Hunters Chicken was delicious. The Koftas were superb in flavour with just the right amount of spice and to be honest the portion could easily have been a mains course Anyway, I digress, the Bluebell Inn, Malvern is still an excellent choice.

For a big dining area I would of thought the pub would of had more people working on duty that day they was not like it was full of people when I came with my husband and friend and we booked the table and still waiting for along time for drinks and food to arrive so that's why I couldn't give the bluebell a high score and I also didn't think the food was worth the money in value ..

We like to eat here when we pop over to Malvern to visit my parents, this is normally during the week rather than at the weekend. When we sat at our table we felt it looked a little dirty so we did give it a quick clean, we did comment to the lady who cleared our plates from the table to ensure you were aware. It was a busy Sunday, however the service was still really good. I’m gluten free and was happy I could still have the Sunday roast (minus the stuffing and Yorkshire) my families yorkies appeared to be frozen ones, so it would be a lovely touch if you could just get some gluten free ones in to ensure your customers with dietary restrictions don’t miss out. We eaten at other places that do this and I’m always extremely grateful that I don’t feel like I’m missing out on my favourite part of a roast dinner. It’s great that the gravy is gf. On the whole the food was good and tasty, it arrived hot and was enjoyed by all. My parents were impressed by the amount of meat they received! The team were friendly, polite and knowledgeable, this is one of the main reasons we keep coming back!

I had booked a lunch for my friend and I,while our children were at school. We turned up promptly and were met with friendly staff as usual. Just as we settled with our drinks we were informed that our children's school was closing and we had to collect them. The lovely staff at the bluebell held our table for us while we collected the children and allowed them to join us for a beautiful lunch,the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. I frequently eat at the bluebell, the calamari is amazing.lovely friendly staff and an inviting atmosphere paired with beautiful food. I am looking forward to my next visit which is already booked.

A characterful old pub; a cool refuge on a very hot Sunday afternoon. The staff were lovely and very welcoming, and cheerfully arranged a different table to keep the dog (and us) out of direct sun. The meal was rather slow in appearing, and the Hunters Chicken could have done with a little less time under the grill as it had become a quite tough. Overall, though, a pleasant experience.

The team were welcoming and service was good and the meal was fantastic as always.
