Wonderful pub with amazing food We dined here on a Friday evening while staying at the nearby caravan park, we were so impressed we also had Sunday lunch there as well. One of the nicest Sunday lunches I’ve had for years Service was superb and food good value for money Will definitely return

A beautiful restaurant, love the decor. Very welcoming and freindly. The owners made us feel very welcome. The food was all freshly made, good quality and good choice. The food was probably the best we have had and the price is very reasonable. We'll worth a visit.

Came up from Shropshire for a 3 day break. The bluebell Inn was definitely the highlight of our stay. 5 star everything!!

Great atmosphere staff very helpful and friendly. It's not a very big restaurant so it's better to book in advance, which is what we did. It's not a pub so you can't just nip in for a drink, which I believe the locals are upset about. The food was good and the portion sizes was good.

Had a lovely meal here. We had game pie, prawn and fish pot plus desserts from the set price menu. The quality was excellent with good sized portions. The pub was decorated beautifully for Christmas and felt very welcoming. The manager was very pleasant and attentive. Everything is kept clean with an eye for detail. Definitely worth a visit.

First time we have visited this wonderfull pub for Sunday lunch and a birthday celebration for 10 guests, wonderfull atmosphere, superb food and lovely staff, will be visiting again soon too this wonderfull little gem.

I am a carer for a local lady. We ordered 2x meals for sunday delivery at 12.00 arrived with nice young lad approx 12.10. Salmon in zlemo. Sauce with accompaniments plus Chocolate Brownie with either ice cream or or cream plus one full Roast Beef dinner with the all important Yorkshire Pudding and Rich Meat Gravy plus Apple Pie with Ice Cream or Cream....it was all sooo delicious and generous portions. On my break l walked to the pub for a coffee, had a very warm welcome and a Cafeteria for 1... good strong Coffee great atmosphere..nice place to chill in my break. Will he calling in for more coffee

Highly recommend this restaurant, we had garlic bread with black olives to start and it was the best we have ever had then black sheep beef pie with mushy peas and hand cut chips, the portions size was very generous and the amount of beef in the pie was outstanding and was so soft it was absolutely delicious too full for dessert but seeing what the next table had I would recommend that also would happily go back any time

We have visited the Blue bell a number of times for the early menu. Great value and excellent food. My wife and daughter love the design of the interior and it's such a lovely building. it's a must if you're in the area. Cheers to the Blue bell

A fabulous Inn, and a fabulous location. I don't believe we've ever had a meal at any restaurant, where all 3 courses were totally amazing. Cannot fault the food whatsoever, however not much choice for vegan or veggies. The filter coffee was also lovely. A little soft music in the background would have been nice, but it doesn't detract from the overall ambience. The building is stunning along with the outside. The lady who served us was very friendly and lovely. Highly recommend.

Not a pub or what I understand an inn to be, very much a posh restaurant. Didn't stay for a beer as it didn't look welcoming to someone not buying food.

This place is excellent, lovely welcome, a great menu at a very reasonable price and the food is amazing, well presented and very tasty. Definately one of the best places I have visited in recent times. Less than £30 for a lush 3 course meal and drinks.

What a lovely find in a quiet Yorkshire village. Set in its own beautiful grounds and well presented. A lovely friendly greeting was given in a quaint pleasantly decorated premises. The menu indicated we were in for a treat and were not disappointed. Excellent service with quality food and company. Such a pretty pub in a lovely village. Really enjoyed our meal in the garden on a summer's evening. Also loved the toilet with its built in seat for little ones! Such a clever and thoughtful touch! 👏👏

Enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch at The Bluebell. Nice cheery welcome on arrival at this tastefully refurbished restaurant / pub. Excellent menu, great service and sensible prices. Family group of 7 - all chose different options but all meals arrived together, piping hot and generous portions. Spot on!

Lovely place in Alne, where we are currently visiting. Definitely a foodie pub rather than a drinking spot. Good choice on menu and friendly staff who were very helpful. Also dog friendly, so the 5th member of our party was allowed to be with us, which was a nice bonus. Food was very good, well cooked and good portions - highly recommended.

We had an excellent meal last Sunday and everyone said how good the food was. The staff were very polite and could not do enough. The children all enjoyed the food as well. We will be returning soon and can recommend it for a lovely meal, friendly service and lovely surroundings.

I saw the menu online and managed to book a table for 4 people. There was ample parking and we were seated on time. We chose from the Early evening menu, there was a good selection and the portions and presentation was great. We were full after 2 courses so we are going back soon to try for a dessert.

Twenty three of my family attended The Bluebell Inn for a late celebration of my 80th birthday. Everyone loved the inn. The food was outstanding, very good value for money, and the service excellent. The waitresses were very pleasant. Thank you to all for an incredible time spent in a great location. Dorothea Scarlett

Excellent Food and good Service.

We booked this meal to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Unfortunately it turned out to be a very busy Saturday and we arrived with 3 other tables. We accepted that they may be a delay but it took nearly half an hour to be served a drink, a further hour before our 1 starter arrived and over 2 hours from arrival before the main course were delivered. My wife was disappointed with her lobster salad (at £22 not cheap) and my salmon en croute was very average. The potatoes were the most tasty food served and the other vegetables were cooked well. Apart from indifferent main items, what grated with me was the £3 charged for each of 5 small glasses of Diet Coke - if we drank alcohol we could have had a bottle of wine for less! Glad to get home to a promptly delivered coffee. Obviously it was not a great birthday celebration and we will not be returning.

Just been for a meal with my husband, lovely menu and lovely place . Starter was amazing! Ordered the beef stroganoff, it was lovely apart from the fact that there wasn’t much beef I wasn’t going to mention anything as I hate to complain and the waiting staff were so young and polite but I felt that the meat was so sparse I’d let them know for future reference. I mentioned to the young girl after she asked how the meal was, that there wasn’t much meat and made it clear that wasn’t complaining at all . She said she would tell the kitchen Well following our comment the bar maid made us feel unwelcome, so unprofessional openly laughing at us ( looking at us )with the waiter . It was so unprofessional and intimidating!! None of the waiting staff came over to us to ask how we were or follow up on my comment about the lack of meat ! The same bar maid she came over with the bill even thou we hadn’t asked for it No one asked us how the meal was So shocked ! Shame as the food was lovely!

We booked earlier in the day which was necessary as most tables were full. We ordered from the Earlybird menu. The food was excellent and good value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. Dogs are welcomed inside and water provided by the door. The small outside seating area can be used for drinks dining or just sitting.

Brilliant lunch, had the steak pie takeaway which was to die for!! So much flavour, cannot recommend enough!

We really enjoyed our evening at this restaurant despite us being the only table booked due to the Covid restrictions. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the food was delicious. The server was so friendly - nothing was too much trouble. It is such a shame to see places like these so empty at this time of year - would highly recommend a visit, well worth it for everyone!!!

Liverpool’s original T3 restrictions and Lockdown 2.0 mean that it is 2months since we have been to a pub. But oh how that wait was rewarded at The Bluebell tonight. Excellent beers, and the food was just superb in choice, presentation, flavours and quantity. Couldn’t fault it at all and the friendliness of Karl, the landlord, and his staff was exceptional. The pub is beautifully decorated for Christmas and welcoming in every way so treat yourselves and get in there for a fabulously festive evening out or phone and book a table for your bubble for New Year’s Eve. It’ll be the best Christmas present you’ll give yourself - and Karl.

Nice place, but after 5 minutes of being there we were the only ones in, this was due to the covid restrictions apparently, we weren't made to feel overly welcome though, the room was cold and you could hear a pin drop, there should have been some background music at the very least. No other staff present besides the young lady that served us. Bit disappointed really as it was meant to be a special treat for my wife's birthday. Just to note we couldn't fault the food it was excellent.

Welcoming village pub with fantastic food. Menu choices were so varied it made it difficult to choose. They kindly accommodated our dog for us which is always a positive for a family with a fur baby. Drinks well priced. Would certainly go back again

This is the only venue for food and drink in this small village. It’s a lovely little place, which accepts quiet dogs if you ask nicely! It really is more of a restaurant than a pub, though you can visit for drinks alone. The food was really impressive and the staff great. A family run place, which fills a gap in Alne. Would recommend

We visited as we were staying at a local hotel and we took advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out offer.The Inn has an early bird menu which was already excellent value, we totally enjoyed each course, generous quality dishes. The Inn itself has lovely surroundings, with the friendly staff what more could you need....

Perfect one night stay in this traditional country pub, accommodation clean and comfortable, wide selection of fantastic food excellently presented , dog loved it too🐶

Spent a lovely couple of hours here on Wednesday evening taking advantage of government eat out scheme We dined al fresco very nice outside terrace ( would suggest phoning to pre book as only a few outside tables ) Our meals were outstanding staff were very helpful all following social distancing Would highly recommend a visit. We will be back even when the government scheme ends.

Came here on the eat out to help out earlybird special. Very impressed with the quality and the service. Had a lovely table too on a gorgeous evening! What's not to like?!

On holiday with another couple, we chose the Bluebell as it was one of the closest to the hotel where we were staying. And what a good choice it was! The decor was great, the food was excellent, much better than the significantly more expensive place we visited the next evening, and the staff had the right degree of attentiveness. Highly recommended: definitely the food highlight of our 4 days in Yorkshire!

Once again beautiful food, lovely staff and a great evening had by all. We love coming here when we come to our caravan. Will be back on our next trip in September. Thank you

Whilst we have had to endure many weeks of lock down the high light of the week has been the take away from The Blue Bell . Good choice of food at excellent prices. Having been regular diners here ( including Year Years Eve ) can say the food was of the same high standard, served up by the enthusiastic owner & his daughter. I understand the takeaway is to continue, but we will be back in the dining room, but it has certainly been a life saver over the last few weeks.

Just had a couple of the takeaway meals in lockdown and it was just superb, very tasty and excellent value. Will certainly order again. A lovely change from the lockdown problems. Highly recommended!

Lovely food, good value and friendly service. I was very impressed by the number of choices they have for gluten free. Not just"well you can have Sunday roast but without Yorkshire pudding or gravy" which is what you get in most p!aces. They had GF Yorkshire puds, gravy and bread, which for such a small place, I thought was very good! We will definitely be back.

Used this place quite a few times the prices go up and the portion sizes come down (share a small bowl of chips between 2), don't believe anything you read on their website it's never right. The service is good and polite on the plus side.

The Bluebell was busy and we should have booked. However, a table was found and the staff were very obliging. Service was excellent and the ambience really lovely and relaxing. My husband and I had roast dinners which were pleasant but not the best we've ever eaten. For me, the roast potatoes were very disappointing and they are my favourite part of a Sunday roast! Our desserts were delicious and I recommend the mulled black cherries.

Our party of 12 had some really nice food, apart from one meal. The day was spoilt by the blonde lady in barefeet, wandering around being very rude. We think she is the owner. She looked like she had drunk half the bar, before dinner. She was also very obnoxious when we went to pay the bill, less the not so good meal. It was a shame really, we have been here on a few occasions and this was by far our worst experience. I hope the lady can get help.The first time we visited here, it was a five star place, it's a shame all the hard work by the staff and chef was overlooked because of one person.

My wife and I visited this Inn with a friend for an evening meal . The dining area was warm with a log fire and the menu also warming . We were greeted by a lovely blond young lady with a great personalty ( we so wished we had asked her name ) The choice of food was wide and the quality superb . The young lady was attentive as she brought our food and all in all a massive assett to the Inn . We visit the area 2 /3 times per year visiting relations and will make a Bee line for this Inn from now on .

We just turned up and were given a table by a lovely warm fire. We went for the set menu but were really pleasantly surprised. We thought the food - salmon in a lemon sauce and a brace of partridge breasts in cranberry and red wine would be ok, but actually they were both wonderful. What surprised us most was the subtlety achieved with really strong flavours. We shared a mulled cherry desert which made us wish we'd ordered one each. I also wish this place was my local.

I’m glad we booked for Sunday lunch as the restaurant quickly filled up around us. The service was reasonable while taking the order and bringing the food but I haven’t given full marks as they seemed reluctant to return to us after the meal to ask if we’d like a dessert or a coffee. The food was lovely. My wife had roast pork (superb crackling.... I tried a bit). The meal was plentiful with a good portion of pork and nicely presented. I had the rabbit and vegetable pie. Actually it was a casserole with a pastry lid but, semantics apart, it was a lovely dish. The rabbit meat was in thin strips rather than chunks (as in rabbit dishes I’ve eaten elsewhere) and it was all the better for it and the pastry was really nice. Altogether a nice meal.

Popped in here on Saturday night on the off chance of a table, having never been here before. Lovely friendly and welcoming staff and an unexpectedly delicious meal. The chicken liver pate was yummy and one of the best I've had. Even after a massive portion of venison and partridge I still managed to find room for the brioche bread and butter pudding - so scrumptious that I almost finished that too! At least an extra half hour on the cross trainer, but worth it!

We had a celebration dinner and it was lovely. the fire was lit and the bar area has a very cosy feel. The staff were helpful and made us feel welcome I had the veal and partridge which was superb can highly recommend

We'd booked an anniversary dinner at the Aldwark Arms in nearby Aldwark village. When we arrived, though, their electronic booking system had no record of our reservation. They were full, too, so we had to go elsewhere. This was a Saturday and we didn't think we'd get in anywhere. Just four miles down the road to Easingwold, however, we came across the Bluebell Inn in Alne. It was reasonably full but they were able to take us nonetheless.So then we had an absolutely brilliant meal. Total surprise. Mushrooms, Beef Stroganoff and Morello Cherries for me. Chicken Liver Pate, Venison and an "unforgettable" (but now forgotten) pudding for my wife. The service was good. The food excellent, The wine slightly above average. And the total cost, including an optional service charge was just £84.00.Any criticisms ? Well, I suppose the portions were over-generous. And we wouldn't have been able to stay anywhere nearby if we'd wanted to. Otherwise, an excellent evening.

Went into the Bluebell on a Thursday, at around 17h45, we were asked if we were eating, we relpied no, but we would like a drink and to look at the menus as we were planning to eat there the following evening. When we looked to sit down we were told all the tables were reserved for diners, and were ushered into a 'back room' needless to say we never went back the following evening. Never been made to feel so unwelcome

What a lovely place to visit. Beautiful surroundings, great little village. Popped in for deserts this evening & couldn't have been better, helpful staff, very nice sticky toffee pudding & strawberry pavlova. Visiting tomorrow for Sunday lunch. Reccomended.

This restaurant had been highly recommended to us. The ambiance was lovely but everything else was very disappointing. It was a special occasion in it was my sisters last night before going back to Canada. It was her treat. We were greeted by very miserable staff who were very casually dressed. Even though we arrived early we were kept waiting for over half an hour before we got our meal. Had to grab attention to order extra drinks. The food was okish nothing special. Small portion of chips for three people. The service was poor. They then got the bill wrong. Would not go back again or recommend it to anyone!

Went for Sunday lunch here and also again for the early bird menu during the week. Both times the food was amazing and very good value. Service was very good, staff very friendly and lovely atmosphere. It would be five stars, but for the pot of tea, which was a weird colour and didn’t taste as good as I would have expected - given the high quality of everything else.

We went with friends for an evening out. When we arrived at 7pm we discovered we could still order from the early bird menu. Unlike most places where this finishes at 7pm it was on offer till 7.30 pm. It had a large choice of items on the menu,and each one of us had something different,and no one was disappointed,and at £18 for 3 courses it was excellent value. My friend and I can also recommend the Pinot grigio rose, very nice idea. A lovely meal in delightful surrounding,with really lovely staff. Well done everyone
