The food is obviously the best Chinese. That's a given. Not forgetting any boxers or families of them. The service, hospitality, care and humanity encapsulated both family, work ethic, altruism and expertise. I'll never order a take away from anywhere again. Plus if meeting a client, then done deal, with good food.

Excellent here been eating there for 43 years I love it its my favourite Chinese restaurant I go for my birthday and wedding anniversary each year, going on the 14th Dec

£16.50 for 8 prawn balls, taking the absolute piss. I made a genuine mistake by paying £2 less with cash and the waiter joked ‘ I know your kind’ this really ruined my night and will not be coming back

All the testimonials that I'd had recommending the Blue Orchid raved about the place. After going there for the first time recently, I now understand why. The food is outstanding, the staff unfailingly polite, the service excellent. I only wish that I'd taken enough of an appetite to do justice to the Set Meal that we'd ordered. The vast majority of the reviews of this place are eulogies; if you go there yourself, you'll see why. I'd give this place six stars if I could. NB For avoidance of doubt, booking is definitely recommended. Don't turn up on spec, particularly on the weekend, and expect to get in.

Just got. Takeaway from here. Charge extortionate prices. I got half a container of curry sauce for £3 each. Chips that were soggy for £4.20 And food is not all that. Absolute rip off

The blandest Chinese food I’ve ever had it. Not worth the high price at all. Literally had no taste of seasoning. Take away. Good customer service

On my hunt for an excellent chinese restaurant/takeaway i finally decided to try blue orchid . Seeing the restaurant nestled on north street roundabout for many years i thought it looked very good and quite upmarket . Unfortunately after parting with 60 of my hard earned pounds for a dinner for 2 adults and 2 children takeaway , i was very disappointed with the very plain , ordinary bland food . Nothing exceptional at all, acceptable food . But not worth the upmarket price tag . Could have brought a similar dishes from another takeaway restaurant for at least a 3rd of the price less .

Definitely worth a visit in all respect.

Visited recently and it was our first time coming here. A lovely family owned restaurant with great service and food. Reasonably priced - however the spicy pork dish was not spicy at all and tasted very sweet like BBQ sauce, that was the only thing we didn't like. Portion sizes are very decent too.

This family run restaurant is a hidden gem. We always treat ourselves to quiet birthday dinner here and it never disappoints. Top tip book your table in advance as it is bustling especially on a Friday and Saturday night.

Recently had friend's 60th birthday dinner here upon another friend's recommendation. We had a wonderful time, there was 4 of us and the place was fully booked. The portions were decent size and we ordered 4-portion sharing platter of appetiser, and a couple mains (crispy duck pancakes, mix vegetables, fried rice, steamed sea bass and beef with oyster sauce). We shared the mains between us and we were all satisfied and full at the end of the meal that we didn't have room for dessert. The sesame prawn toasts and spicy shredded beef were amazing. Would definitely recommend this place. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to in a long time, and will definitely be coming back! Only downside is there isn't any parking near the place, the closest local car parks were about 7 minutes walk (Romford Brewery or Liberty Mall).

Perfection. I can't praise the food, staff and management enough. We have been eating here for 5 years regularly and a further 20 years previously Normally I list what we have. All I will say that a Chinese restaurant that only uses fresh ingredients hits every spot. Every dish I have ever had has been perfect. They specialise in seafood and am sure nothing sees a freezer. It is fresh and meaty as it should be. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. We only go here and avoid all the cheap imitations. Advice is to book ahead as it is really hard to get in. Two floors of perfect food. Nothing is ever too much for them to make your experience perfect. A family business that deserves all our support.

I moved area so don’t come as often however i came for my Birthday last December and am always pleasantly surprised how delicious and fresh the food is. Ray and Richard have been doing a great job for many many years.

Very good value lunch and good choice of set meals

Had a wonderful time, there was 11 of us and even for that amount of people the service was unbelievable. The prawn toast was amazing, the beef sizzler blwas excellent but the honey prawns were the star of the show. Would definitely recommend this place.

This restaurant has been here for decades. It’s a family run restaurant with the owner Ray and his children all working to help out! My 18 year son had never been to a Chinese restaurant (always had take aways) and I said the best I remember was the The Blue Orchid ! Hadnt been here for 17 years (ex wife and myself are here so avoided for years!) Covid turned the world upside down but we eventually got to go for a meal tonight along with my daughter and her partner, my eldest son and his partner, plus my 18 year old newbie ! The whole night was amazing! Atmosphere was perfect ( as my 18 year old said, we can talk to each other) , temperature perfect , food was amazing !! This really is the best that can be!! Further proof of attention to detail , after about 5 mins, the waiter (owners son) remembered me from 17 years ago!!! How many restaurants could that ever happen !! I won’t leave it so long to return and now my son realises Chinese food is much better here than the delivered via scooter and in Tupperware !! 6 stars ⭐️ Enjoy

What I asked for was Roast Duck fried rice in black sauce (with roast duck on top of the rice) like the first picture, but I got egg fried rice with shredded and mixed duck like the second picture. ROAST DUCK FRIED RICE NOT SHREDDED DUCK FRIED RICE

Whilst the restaurant is well run, clean I found the food whilst cleanly and professionally presented really bland and the prices are quite high for the lack of flavour...other local chinese although they are takeways cheaper and offer more flavoursome food

Delicious Chinese (Cantonese) food. Quality ingredients and very friendly staff. We ordered the Chicken with black bean sauce, salted chilli King prawns, salt and chilli bean curd and sizzling fillet Cantonese style. These king prawns were our favourite but all dishes were nice. Would definitely go back again.

The Skate fish and jumbo prawns are to die for. Beautiful food, would definitely recommend. 👍

A gem of a restaurant just outside Romford's inner ring road, so not an obvious destination. It is well frequented by locals who appreciate the great food and wonderful service. The only criticism is that the portions are rather large and toilets are upstairs. I didn't notice any disabled facilities.

Our first visit and was well worth it. Excellent size portions, served hot and fresh. Staff were very attentive and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. They obviously have a lot of regular customers as for a Thursday evening it was very busy. Cannot wait to go back.

The food was very bland for the price. Set menu was a lot of food, but local takeaways in Romford are far tastier and we didn't eat most of it. Also, its like a sauna in there!! Probably because they charge £3.50 for a small bottle of coke. We definitely won't eat here again. Disappointing experience.

Much anticipated first visit after hearing good reviews. Setting, staff and service excellent. The food was imho average. Spare ribs in barbecue sauce was lovely as a starter. Staples like chicken chow mein (too greasy) and beef in black bean sauce overcooked. Maybe an off night.
