Food is always very good, been coming here for many years, staff are so nice and friendly the owner is not so friendly, preferred the previous owner

Absolutely terrible. Honestly don’t have the enough words to describe how dire this was. Ordered a takeaway via U for the family. Several dishes missing and rest was poor with very low quality meat / prawns and very few of them. Called up to complain about the missing dishes and had the lady who answered call me a liar then literally laugh at me and tell me tough. Worst experience in years. I have submitted a complaint with U and told them frankly if the bill isn’t fully refunded I’ll be deleting their app. Also have a very large family in the local area and have advised them all of the service and we have unanimously blacklisted them. What more can I say. Worst food in years, worst service in decades and now several locals will never use them again. Disgusting in every sense of the word.

We visited on a Saturday evening, I phoned and booked a table for two a couple of hours beforehand, good we did as the restaurant was very busy. The staff were very prompt but not pushy, they were obviously working on two sittings system, nothing wrong with that it seemed to work well. We had a quarter of aromatic duck to start, and four main dishes, the food was very good, served hot and plentiful.. I even took a doggie bag home. Only complaint I have was the price of the wine, we like a Rosè with Chinese food, we had a choice of two, a Zinfandel at £21.00 or a bog standard French at £26.00. Well over priced in my opinion, apart from that, we really enjoyed our visit, the food and service was very good.

The food here is always tasty, amazing and high quality. The staff so kind and friendly - even when it’s super busy! Always my go to for Chinese food for a night out or celebrating!!

Having not been to this restaurant for a few years and remembering many visits over the years I was looking forward to visiting with my family. This used to be an absolutely excellent restautant but this is sadly no longer the case. From reading here I now see that it changed hands a few years ago and the family that had this restaurant for many many years took a well deserved retirement. Unfortunately, it really has gone down hill. The service is not at all friendly and is incredibly slow. The restaurant lacks any kind of ambience and it is now like sitting in a plain box of a room. The food was quite bland, the soups were ok, as was the duck but everything else was lacking in flavour and presentation was unappetising. Soft shell crab is usually my favourite dish but for me it had a really unpleasant taste this time. When it came to brushing any crumbs from the table between courses they brushed them into a bowl that already had crumbs in from other tables - come on at least empty the bowl between visiting different tables! On the whole the restaurant just had an unclean feel. They were slow to clean empty glasses from the table and just not on the ball service wise overall. On a side note - they desperately need lazy susan's for their big round tables to make dishing up and sharing food easier. It was a really disappointing visit as I was really hoping my nostaligic memories of many visits while growing up would be maintained! I won't be in any hurry to return there are much better restaurants to spend you money in.

A taste sensation! I've been here for a very long time now and have always enjoyed the great food and friendly service.

It's been a while since we have been to the Welcome Inn but we will definitely be returning. The food, service & general ambience were outstanding.

This food is spectacular, we have struggled to find a nice Chinese takeaway for such a long time! When I first arrived to collect my food, I was stunned at the beautiful restaurant too. Food tastes fresh unlike any other Chinese I’ve had. It’s a shame they don’t deliver to my house as it’s too far but it’s definitely worth the 15 minute drive for this good food! Staff are very friendly too :)

We have been a regular here for a few years, dining in as a group we have always had good food, even if a little pricey. The last two takeaways - Jan/Feb 23 have been really disappointing, Singapore Rice Noodles were charred on one occasion and when they were not, they were bland. It’s a shame as we rate this venue.. definitely good for a meal in, not so for takeaway.

16 of us went to the Welcome Inn for a birthday meal last sunday The staff were very attentive and looked after us all very well.Despite our large group which included children and dietary reqs it proved no issue for the kitchen the food was served quickly and more importantly was of a very high standard both in quality of ingredients and taste.Maybe not the cheapest but i have no quibbles especially when the service and the food is of such a high standardThanks to all the team at the Welcome Inn and will be back soon 10/10

Pre booked a table for 10 Saturday evening. It’s best to book as the restaurant is very popular. Always a friendly greeting by all members of their staff. Food always arrives hot, including the plates you are given. I can not fault the quality of the food or service. Everything is delicious. Highly recommend Chineese restaurant

We normally order from The Welcome Inn but on this occasion we found maggots in my special fried rice. The whole family have been ill vomiting including my 6 year old son and 3 year old daughter. This is disgusting. Shame on you Welcome Inn!!!

Pre booked a few hours previous to going. The restaurant is on the high street. On arrival, We were sat in the main walk way of the restaurant, but asked to be moved as I didn’t want staff constantly walking past. We ordered the vegetarian mixed starter the green beans were delicious. The restaurant was very busy at 8 o’clock For main we had 4 dishes to share ( 2 of us) and it was plenty. The boch Choi I ordered in garlic was a bit disappointing as I’m sure there was no garlic just oyster sauce. The place is spotlessly clean. The staff wore masks too. Who were all very friendly. A Chineese restaurant I recommend you try.

I picked the Welcome Inn for a meal before visiting the Queens Theatre Hornchurch and it didn't disappoint. The food was excellent, good portions, nice flavours and great value for money. I also felt the service was very good as well, we were running a bit late and they turned the dishes around quick even though it was full in there, this meant we got to the theatre in good time. I would definitely recommend and will be going back again.

A mid week meal evening meal here. Pre booked. Service was friendly as always. The food here is delicious. We had a mixed starter a vegetarian one was delicious. Food all hot and tasty and our plates were lovely & hot too. Can’t fault the food or service here. We had a lovely evening and wasn’t rushed.

Shocked to find out if you are a table of 6 or more you have to pay an extra 5% surcharge???!!. Would have thought you would get a 10% reduction for bringing in such custom on a quiet Thursday night. Make sure if there any more than 6 of you you sit on separate tables. Just saying.

Having more or less tried every Chinese in Hornchurch & surrounding areas, I can safely say this place is hands down the very best. No close seconds either - it's the only Chinese I'll get now. We get it every week without fail. 10/10. Amazing food and the delivery drivers are always really nice and friendly too - always service with a smile!

What has happened to this restaurant now the meat is processed slimy stuff you get in all bad Chinese restaurant and it used to be exceptional. I don’t like having to write bad reviews but they charge too money for there food

Ok but far too expensive for what it is. All food was nice. But £65 for two people is too much......

When my daughter booked this they asked if it was an occasion and she said it was for her birthday. When we arrived they had put a 'happy birthday' banner on the wall by our table! What a lovely thing to do. When ordering we explained my husband has a fish and seafood allergy. The waitress could not be more helpful informing my husband which dishes he was unable to have. Which was a big improvement on other chinese restaurants we have been to where they would only allow my husband to eat vegetable dishes. We ate a mixture of hors d'oeuvres crispy duck, chicken lettuce wraps, salt and spicy chicken which were all extremely tasteful and plentiful. Then we had soups, I had chicken and sweetcorn which was delicious. Then we had a mixture of egg fried rice, kung po chicken, triple pork, beef in black bean and chicken with cashew nuts. Again all very tasty. We were too full up for dessert but next thing the waiter appears singing 'happy birthday' with a candle in a chocolate cake, which was scrumptious. The waiter then took a photo of us with his phone and gave my daughter a printed copy and whatsapped the three photos he had take to her!!!! My daughter was so happy as they had given her a wonderful birthday meal. As if that was not enough the waiter asked if we would all like a drink on the house for her birthday. So we finished a perfect evening with a bailey's. Thank you so much Welcome Inn!!!!!!

We were happy to see that the restaurant were operating a take-away service during lockdown and we went twice for take-aways. Still the same polite and efficient service .Good value and generous sized portions. Looking forward to returning to eat in the restaurant soon!

It's a while since we visited and I think ownership has changed. Not quite so busy as it used to be on a saturday night, but we felt that the food was of the same high quality. Personally, I wouldn't eat at any other Chinese restaurant in the area - it's always good. We had duck with pancake roles to start and three dishes to share and all were freshly cooked with good flavour. Served with a smile!

We have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions and always enjoyed the food and the staff have been very good, unfortunately, this time was a bad experience. We had our starters, tasty as usual, but that’s when it changed. The main courses arrived and as you do, we all stuck in. I was about to eat some of the sweet & sour dish, and found a screw in my dinner, all be it, a gold one! We told one waitress, who did apologise and said she would get us another one. Then another waitress came up with the dish and again apologised, but said “these things happen”! We then decided that we no longer wanted to eat there and said we would pay for our drinks and would be leaving. Her face and attitude towards us was appalling, then said that the whole meal, which we had, mixed starters, duck and drinks were on the house. As we were walking out, she smiled, clapped and said “you got a free meal, well done”! We was willing to pay for the drinks and was not looking or free drinks, but the gesture was appreciated, but unfortunately she spoilt the whole thing. This restaurant has been one of our favourites, but unfortunately will not be going back. The staff need to change.

Seventeen of us went to the Welcome Inn to celebrate my mum's 70th tonight! The staff were amazing, just couldn't do enough, they were so attentive and patient with our lot. The food was delicious, best chinese I've ever had.They even presented my mum with a small cake and took pictures for us. I would rate this restaurant 6 out 5 if I could. Definitely coming again.

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Hornchurch, largely for the excellent,helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Usual large menu with good choices but the set menus are the easiest to navigate and are recommended. Useful wine list at reasonable prices.

Visited in the run up to Christmas. Our family have been using this restaraunt for a number of years and both the food quality and standard of service has never been less than first class. If anything we thought the portion size and quality had been taken to a higher level. The toffee banana is to die for.

Let down by Rienna in Hornchurch after booking with them in October and confirming in December we went to theWelcome Inn to see if we could get a take away. They were so helpful and although they were fully booked they managed to fit us in and just like their name made us very welcom.

Have visited this restaurant many times over the years, we are aware that it has changed ownership earlier on in the year but, pretty much, nothing has changed! Basically, if you want a decent chinese meal in a nice restaurant vist this Welcome Inn!

Lovely food however - Paid £29 per person and was served a beef dish with 4 pieces of meat only. We complained and was given an extra dish and told this was there standard portion so ‘we’ll know for next time’ You’ve been warned

We used to live in town so went here frequently, having moved away we were recently down for a visit and decided to return here.The meal was fine but missed the filet steak I used to have. Service was fine if a little over the top as waitress was constantly hovering around us.

We went here for my daughters birthday meal last night, which was absolutely brilliant! The food was so tasty and hot in temperature not spice! The staff were excellent and I called them the day before to say it was my daughters birthday and asked if they supplied a small cake, which they did and they even put a happy birthday banner on the wall where we sat and took a group photo of us all which they gave us, which were lovely unexpected gestures! Cannot fault anything and will definitely return again!

This is a small family run business in the heart of Hornchurch, and one of the oldest. Excellent food and service and great value. Everything is freshly cooked and tastes great. Clean and comfortable with plenty of space. We have been coming back for years and have never been disappointed.

As the title suggests! The staff could not have done more to help us feel welcome and special. The food was very tasty and well presented and well priced. This is our new favourite and we will be rebooking for our Christmas meal.

Just returned to the Welcome Inn after the change of ownership. Glad to say (although sorry that the old owners have deserted us ) that it is still as good as ever.

Been to this venue a number of times and really should use it more based on just how good the food and service both are. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is good. Worth a try Guys!

Ordered a takeaway as are usual place was shut on a Monday. Was quite a bit more expensive but thought we would give it a go. The meal was not great, rubbery chicken and the meat in the special fried rice was rubbery. We ended up throwing it away. We will not be ordering a takeaway from here again.

Always a great meal at the welcome inn, with excellent service and a friendly welcome the staff. At this chinese resturant they will remember you when you go back, which is a nice touch.

We have been enjoying the Welcome Inn for 25 years. It has long been our favourite Chinese. The new owners were friendly, the atmosphere good and the service excellent. The food is not the same, some dishes better others not so good. We shall try it a few more times as it’s early days with the new owners. If I was a first time diner and not a long standing customer I would say do try this restaurant, the food is great. We had the set dinners with a few changes and we certainly had generous portions.

Have been twice in two weeks so it must be good! Loved the ribs and the soft shell crab to start. Shared mixed noodles and chicken in XO sauce - all delicious. It' not as cheap as other Chinese restaurants but the quality and presentation of food is excellent. Complimentary prawn crackers to start and chocolate and sweets to finish.

We ordered a take away from welcome Inn, and the chap on the phone was really helpful and couldn't go enough for me The food surprised me massively the flavours we 10/10 I wouldn't change my choice Can't wait to have there's again

We have been going for over 30 years and finally got around to going back this week for the first time since the change of management. The good news is the standard of the food is still the same and in some cases (egg fried rice, satay chicken) was in fact better than previously. No complaints from us!

We have been going to the Welcome Inn over thirty years, the new owners have taken over the reins and are maintaining the excellent quality of food and service. Crispy beef better than ever and fu Kwai prawns maybe need some attention. Well Done.

The original owners have now taken well earned retirement, after decades with the same family. The vibe now is not the same :-( Saturday lunch food was still good - the menu was unchanged - but the old charm has gone :-(

Sorely disappointed with chinese food tonight. Been coming to this restaurant for years, lovely family who served amazingly tasty food. However the chinese I had this evening was not in comparison. Instantly knew that it was not the usual standard of food served. From service, to taste and consistancy of food, found it very average. Very upset that it is now under new management. Chinese food will never be the same again.

Me and my partner have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Friendly staff and the food is delicious. If you like a bit of spice try the salt and pepper prawns! On Friday and Saturday nights it can get loud in there with groups of women on their nights out talking over each other! but other than that very enjoyable!

Visited with family mid-week and we was not disappointed. The food was so fresh and flavoursome with so much choice. Could not fault the service, very friendly offering drinks on the house as we was celebrating two birthdays. Looking forward to returning already.

Came here with my parter, brother and son. Absolutely fantastic meal, best Chinese we’ve ever had! Will definitely be going back. Staff are friendly, service was a little slow but there wasn’t an empty table in the place.

We went on a Saturday evening and it was packed. Service wasn't the quickest but the food was the best Chinese meal I've had. The plates were zinging hot so the food stayed hot too. We had salt and pepper chicken and squid which was superb, sweet and sour, chilli beef, beef in black bean sauce and every dish was stunning.

On New Year’s Day we tried the takeaway from this Chinese restaurant but was disappointed as our usual one was not open.We had the same as our usual menu takeaway but was £13 pounds dearer.We didn’t like the hard strips of carrot in our meals of noodles and rice and satay prawns on sticks were all runny and not sticking to the fish.The shredded chicken noodles were nice except I could count the chicken on one hand The chicken in black bean sauce was ok but not as good as the other Chinese restaurant which I think I cannot mention on this review.We will not be going there again as they were open New Year’s Day but not our usual one Oh! the prawn curry was passable but it’s not a restaurant/takeaway we would recommend

Used to go here regularly, but haven't been for a while and it was good to go back. The staff are friendly and always remember regular faces and your name. It's was busy and this is a testament to it's popularity. We chose three dishes to share, including one noodle dish and it was all exceptionally well cooked and presented. I like the complimentary prawn crackers to start and the chocolate to finish. Won't leave it so long to go back next time!

This is by far my FAVOURITE Chinese Restaurant- this delightful clean “Family owned” restaurant is staffed by the Family who have ran the business literally for generations. personally I’ve been coming here for 20 plus years as an Adult and 22 more with my parents so 42 years for me, the food is always freshly cooked, delightfully flavoured, and ythoroughly en joyed, there is a vast menu if you take your time to peruse the menu you will see what a vast choice you have - they do have Set menu’s - at a set price, but enjoy my own choices - the Scallops are to die for. I recommend you book a table as this is a very popular Restaurant with the best Sezchen dishes. You will always have a warm greeting, great efficient table service - the family that own and run this delightful restaurant, go above and beyond great friendly service, great for a romantic meal for two, a Birthday and caters for any group size, they do ‘Take Aways too’ but then you will miss the lovely staff and ambience of this delightful restaurant.

Love this place. Staff always very friendly and accommodating. The food is amazing, portions could be slightly bigger if you were in a party but that’s not big deal as the food is so good. Definitely the best Chinese in Hornchurch

This was my first time here with my partner and we were both very impressed with the efficient and friendly service as well as the tasty food.

Immediately impressed by the welcome and friendly staff.Went on. Friday night so was very busy and a bit noisy but food and attentive staff made it worth while.Food was good with a good choice .

Had crispy duck which I love but very salty. The food was tasteless. The only good point was the staff was friendly.

I have been coming to The Welcome Inn since I was a child with my parents, now in my fifties my husband and I are regular visitors to this fabulous restaurant along with our family. A small intimate restaurant with Mrs Poon and her family running the business. Attentive friendly staff who really do get to know their customers. They come and have a chat but are not intrusive. The food is amazing and we always go for set menu B. I know that sounds boring but we have tried lots on the menu over the years but that is our favourite. We don’t even have to order now as Ga, just knows what we want - it’s wonderful. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. At the end of the meal you get gummy bears (the little chewy teddy bears with a chocolate mint) which is lovely. We love coming here and the staff always make a fuss of us on family celebrations too.

Absolutely delicious food and great service. Competes with all the beat London Chinatown restaurant. The only place in the area where you can get Dim Sum. Will definitely come back!

We had a family meal here for 12 people. The service is great and the food is very tasty, slightly expensive so ideal for a special occasion. I recommend the crispy duck and crispy beef.

I visited this restaurant one Saturday evening, the first thing they said was could I only stay for 1 hour. Should have walked out then. Food not very good, staff very rude, After the hour was up waiter kept staring like when you going. Not cheap and certainly will not be going there again.

Food is poor bland and not a lot of it. Expensive for what you get. Service is not very friendly. I won’t be coming back. I don’t know who wrote the glowing reviews on here!

Being Chinese myself I am super critical of Chinese restaurants to say the least. Welcome Inn by far is the best Chinese restaurant in Hornchurch!

Arguably the best of oriental cuisine in Hornchurch. Most certainly attentive service that ensures your visit is a memorable one.

This is our favourite Chinese restaurant in town. Extensive menu with good selection of fish dishes like crab and scallops, the sizzling steak is define.

My wife and I visit this restaurant at least twice a month, food is always top class, service is friendly...

Visited welcome inn for the first time after reading the positive reviews. We were very disappointed.

Visited here tonight after many years since our previous regular visits.. 100% lived up to our expectations! We ordered starters & could not decide on mains.. waiters were very patient & did not rush us at all. We were the first table in.. & the restaurant filled up within 30mins. We finally ordered we waited no time at all. Food was delicious.. adding more dishes during our meal. Great service. Exceptional food! Nothing was a problem for the staff.. not even when I had to stop a busy waiter and sneakily pay the bill in a rush before my grandad did. Will definitely not leave it so long before we dine again! Thank you

Been going here for years, and like many chinese restaurants are probably stuck a little in the past regards to their food choices and style. One only has to go to London to see the vast difference, yet we are only an hour away from some amazing chinese restaurants.However this is our local, and locals become favourites for family. We know what we want to order its the same mostly every time, and they really give us what we expect. The service is always excellent, and these are genuinely nice owners here. Try the prawn noodles and the aromatic duck . Always a winner. Reasonable prices.Fab

The welcome inn is not a cheap Chinese, but it's worth paying the extra to eat here! The food is fresh and tasty, the service is fantastic and the staff make you feel welcome.

El servicio era increíble que nos dejó una generosa propina. Era el cumpleaños de mi miembro de la familia e hicieron un gran esfuerzo, aunque nunca les pidió que. Que pongan un banner de cumpleaños cerca de nuestra mesa, Trajo una tarta y tomó una foto de grupo en su cámara y nos dio la foto. El servicio era rápido y el ambiente era agradable. Sin duda volveremos y lo recomiendo altamente el Welcome Inn!

Went to the restaurant before going to the theatre with family food came which was not good the chowmein was almost inedible the mixed meat curry was tasteless and the special fried rice was not very special. but the service was good. We all got a big shock when the bill came, this place is way too expensive for the quality of the food, there are much better restaurants in Hornchurch and cheaper avoid this place if you don't want to be ripped off and disappointed with the food.

The food and the atmosphere in here was like lovely. Was saying we will come back here.Just one problem when asking for the bill it came with added drinks we had not had. I E one extra pint of larger two glasses of wine and an extra soft drink. This meant we was over charged £25 which we found an absolute disgrace. If you go here remember to check you bills as they add on drinks which you don't have.We won't be returning here and will always check our bills.

We used to come here a lot and everything was always excellent. Circumstances meant that we couldn't come for a while so when we went back recently we were a bit worried whether it would be as good as before. It wasn't, it was even better! Food still great, friendly staff and very good value for money - we'll definitely be back.

Sat in the restaurant with three others. Ordered one small beer. This was served along with a dish containing about SIX prawn crackers. We then studied the menu and realised that everything was really expensive. We decided to leave but offered to pay for the beer. Up comes the bill.... the small beer was £4 and the VERY SMALL dish of prawn crackers were priced at £2.40!! We paid and left with the opinion that we would not be frequenting there again.

We usually order take out from this restaurant. Order placed over the phone and we go to collect. The restaurant is always busy inside and the atmosphere seems nice. The food is lovely however it is a bit pricey compared to other local Chinese places.

We come here for family birthdays and special occasions and the team never disappoint. The food is delicious with generous portions: we usually order one of the set menus: great duck and mixed starters. The service couldn't be more pleasant. They always do something special for a birthday: a cake, some birthday drinks, a photo of the family they print out and present to us. Really, the hospitality is great. Best Chinese in the area: a family run restaurant at its best.

Arrived in a Wednesday about 8.15pm and had a warm welcome for our first ever visit!Staff (Gar) could not have been more attentive without being intrusive! We asked for a number of dishes that were versions of the menu and they accommodated every one of them to perfection!Thoroughly recommend this place and reasonably priced also!Try it Guys!

My partner and I ate here recently. The menu was very good and varied.Our only downside was the fact that we weren't provided with hot plates so the meal turned cold very quickly.Not the cheapest night out, but well worth it for the quality of the food.

Went here on friday 17 feb 17 with fiance after a couple of drinks in weatherspoons opposite.Must say its the best chinese i have had in a long while. Fresh, tasty and not greasy. Beats manadarin palace hands down.And it was packed at 7pm.Keep up the good work

For the price, you'd like to think its the best you'd get... but we've been going to Kim Ton takeaway for years and the food there we think is better... better portions and better prepared. Ok, for a takeaway you don't get a sizzling skillet or scallops, but for nearly double the cost??

Chinese hospitality at its best! Menu is a bit overpriced but the food is very good and the restaurant is very relaxing nice for families and couples.

Excellent tasty, straightforward, uncomplicated Chinese cuisine, served by the friendly helpful staff. Reasonably priced, probably just lacks a bit of atmosphere. Recommend the mixed starter, beef with ginger & spring onion.

We have been here a number of time for different occassions and what always gets me is how get the staff are - they fantastic. The food is really good I have tried a wide range from it and I have never been disappointed. If you go for a Birthday they step it up a notch and make the person who's Birthday it is feel special. This is a family owned restaurant and the staff are charming and give excellent service . The first course was very tasty with a mixture of small starters . However the main courses were a little bland . Just not flavourful enough for us .

Not much to say about our experience at Welcome Inn, we are unlikely to be returning. Food was nice enough but overpriced and nothing special. The service wasn't great, staff weren't helpful in describing dishes in any detail and we didnt feel particularly relaxed. We have had better experiences at other Chinese restaurants in the area.

Fresh, beautifully presented food. Small but cosy restaurant. Service was excellent, and can't fault the food.

After spending an afternoon shopping and pretty hungover, we were starving and decided we needed a Chinese. So we ended up here and I'm so glad we did! Food is first class! Always tastes fresh and not too salty, superb!

Came back to the welcome inn first time for a while usually a buffet Sunday meal but they have changed it to off the menu . Nice food as usual never the cheapest chinese but its good food and good staff .

Went again last night, having not been there for about three months. Still up to standard! The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the pace of service is just right. We see many regulars each time we go, and this is a good recommendation in itself. They will also tailor dishes to your specific requirements, i.e. adding or taking out ingredients. This is possible as everything is freshly cooked.
