Called in for a quick coffee and cake. Ridiculous ordering system. Waited 15 minutes for them to be brought to the table even though it wasn’t busy. When it finally arrived they’d brought the wrong coffee, completely forgotten the scone and the sugar (couldn’t help yourself) and because there was no choice of gluten free cakes I’d ordered toast, well done. It finally arrived barely toasted at all and the bread was awful! Won’t bother going back!!

We revisited Blooms again today as we found an offer on set of draws we saw yesterday marked as half price we ask lady at till for help she was brilliant at helping but till would not show offer so called supervisor Janice to help she was unhelpful and said some customer must of miss placed sign but staff verified and help us to the till anyway supervisor wormed her way out of the offer very badly leaving us unhappy at poor customer service and customer rights to offers. So now working how to get help from a small claims court to get this settled

Stopping for a quick lunch, it took ages to order as not enough staff manning the tills, unable to order a cappuccino as the machine was broken.... Alternative drinks arrived timely, but after 30 minutes waiting in an emptying restaurant, I went to the counter and asked them to check our order. It then arrived straight away - with no apology. I advised the server that I was not happy and asked to have a chat with the Manager. No one came to see us. By the time we finished our rather underwhelming 'quick lunch' we were running behind schedule and therefore did not seek the Manager. A poor experience all round. Shame because it has goo potential.

Sadly, Bressingham is quite close to where I (we) live and being Sunday and lazy we decided to eat out. Having used Bressingham frequently but during the week when shopping, and stopping for the odd coffee and sticky bun, it seemed an idea to go and have a carvery and relaxed lunch. The carvery is open until 3:00pm but, it would appear that by 2:15 the only thing left was beef and no potatoes, or if memory serves, no mashed potatoes! OK, so back to the drawing board. Now a little background. Although quite but not overly busy, there was only one till open and the girl on the till was not only taking orders but was also responsible for prepping none lunch items Items like warmed up sausage rolls and drinks etc. So, the result was after each order was taken there was a wait in the queue, often three of four minutes EACH time, before she returned to take the next order. This was commented on quite extensively by people waiting in the said queue. So, from my point of view having waited almost ten minutes to find out the carvery wasn't still a carvery, it was back to the table to look at the alternatives. Once chosen we had another eight to ten minutes BACK in the queue again. OK, not a situation designed to impress I would suggest, but nevertheless, onto the food. A gammon steak, fried egg, chips, peas and onion rings for me and an omelette for the better half. Now, I have to admit I was hungry so I did attempt to eat what was put before me but, burnt onion rings, stone cold peas and chips not much warmer and a gammon steak that it is wasn't confined to a plate would still be running around in a field going oink! Was not my idea of a wonderful Sunday lunch. The better half's omelette was not much better: we eventually discovered they buy them in READY COOKED and FROZEN!! (How the hell do you do that with an OMELETTE?). I did complain to management who offered something free but no! That is not the reason for a complaint, I had managed to eat a fair amount of it first (I said I was hungry) as had the better half so I refused any "compensation" suggesting their staff may need a little more training in the art of cooking! Did I say I trained as a French Chef many years ago? I do tend to know when food has been cooked or just passed across the grill (salamander actually) to ensure it's dead! So, needless to say I would not recommend Bressingham for Sunday lunch, coffee and a sticky bun during the week? Absolutely fine, when doing our garden shopping that will still be the plan but Sunday lunch? Sorry but, I only have to drive a little way up the Thetford Road, and I can see lots of pigs all enjoying the outdoors, just as I suspect my gammon steak should have been.

We rang you're garden centre Saturday morning to enquire about garden chairs we spoke to Joy and she was very helpful and she told us there was 2 in stock we said we couldn't get there until Monday morning she said no problem I will put them by for you . We arrived Monday morning and saw Joy and once again she was helpful. We could only get 1 chair in the car so had to go back Tuesday to get the other chair and saw Joy again and once again she was very helpful. We are writing this email to say what good customer service Joy has and she made the experience of buying the chairs very enjoyable. We often come to Bressingham and have always found good customer service. Would you please thank Joy for her good customer service. May we suggest the management buy her a cake and a cup of coffee in the restaurant as nothing was too much trouble for her . Yours sincerely Gordon and Janet Wilkinson

Our cokes arrived ok, still no sanwiches. There we sat until a young waitress came and apologised for the wait. Some people came and say on the next table and went to order food. Theirs arrived!!! It happened again with another table near us too. Ours eventually arrived. It was ok. Shan't go there again and order food.

First time been here for lunch in a long time the restaraunt was busy not many people in the queue but lots of people at table's, had to wait a long ten minutes while 1 assistant took orders, made coffee and took payments, while to my amazement her colleague just carried on trimming a Christmas tree, I ordered my food then waited 10mins for it to be served up by a kitchen assistant who really seemed like she would have rather been somewhere else, needless to say we will not be eating there again. On the other hand the rest of the garden centre staff were very friendly so would visit the garden centre side again.

After waiting at the til to be served for half an hour, by one memeber of staff only and slowly, with no help from other members of staff, and thats if you could even find them for general questions about products and items in store. I then decided to go with benefit of the doubt and go for food. Equally a disgrace, semi warm food and items left out for anyone to pick up at leisure. A let down, compared to the previous years we have come here and had knowledable memebers of staff greet us and assist, and lovely ladies who in the canteen have been more than accommodating for us both

Visited on a weekday lunchtime. It was fairly busy but not packed. We found a table in the family area as we had young children with us who wanted to use the soft play. (£3 per child). There was only one other family in there but virtually every table was full of dirty plates, cups etc.... not impressed. It felt like as it was separate it was forgotten About. The main seating area looked clean and tidy. We went to the tills to order our food. The person serving was extremely slow and took ages to write everything down, she then made a mistake so wrote the whole ticket out again, painstaking! After about 10 minutes our food arrived. Jacket potatoes were lovely. Kiddies pizza was awful, hardly any cheese and very dry. The kids refused to eat it, ended up returning it and the manageress agreed it was not good enough and gave refund. The cakes looked lovely as did the hot food. I would eat here again as the food in general was nice but wouldn’t call in especially.

Decided to pay a visit with my mother as not been for a number of years. Not as big overall as thought it would be. Not many gifts. We ate in the restaurant and had latte, scones and cake which were all nice - but very expensive. The restaurant itself was clean and tidy and staff friendly - did notice the play area for children which looked good as parents can eat in there with them and watch the kids play. Was disappointed you can't look around the gardens only, without having to pay for the steam museum too - I think this should be reconsidered as we would have liked to walk around the gardens but not necessarily the museum. In all I think expensive for what is there and wont be returning in a hurry. Disappointed.

This is our local garden centre & overall the garden centre is good. I'll be honest our first attempt at eating at the café was 'in and out'. We were rushing to find a quick bite to eat & looked at their menu which wasn't impressive & overpriced for basically a microwave meal! However..... Our second visit was more successful. Not sure if we missed out on our first trip or if they have changed their menu recently but they offer a good range of meals from jacket potatoes, paninis, salads, hot food and healthy options. Their cake looks lovely. I think they are overpriced but this seems typical for most garden centres. We both enjoyed a tuna melt panini with side salad. Will likely eat here again at some point but because the food is slightly overpriced it wont be regular. Staff were lovely and helpful though.

The selection to purchase in store was really limited, looked like they were left overs from last year, nothing new, the gift selection was reduced, as was the candle selection, and if you have a child whose name begins with R, forget looking for a Named Christmas Card. We were really really disappointed. At least the food in the restaurant hasn't changed and is still as lovely as ever, even if the service is slow. #disappointedfromPortsmouth

I really want to like this place, the soft play is a reasonable price and the food is good. But the service is horrible! They only have one poor soul working the till and making the hot drinks/taking orders, meanwhile you can see the other employees in the kitchen standing around talking and refusing to help with the long queue. The prices are food are very expensive, especially the kids menu. I decided to buy my own lunch but brought food for my 1 and 3 year old since they are very picky and I am tired of paying for expensive food that doesn't get eaten. Unfortunately, I had an employee give me a very loud lecture when she brought my lunch telling me "this is a restaurant, no outside food is allowed". I had bought myself a lunch and my 3 year old a drink, it wasn't like we didn't spend money in the cafe. Not being allowed to bring some snacks for my children - especially my 1 year old, is ridiculous! I'll pay the extra gbp to go to a real soft play that allows me to bring snacks for my children.

This place should be enjoyable to visit what with a decent sized cafe and soft play area for the young kids and a good selection of garden products. The problem is though it isn't enjoyable in any way shape or form! Things start well enough in the car park, plenty of parking and ideally located next to the motorway, however things go down hill fast once you enter wyevale. The lay out of the place is a mess, you'll struggle to find what you're looking for and there are no staff to be seen anywhere. It's like the Marie Celeste, a ghost ship of an establishment that you're sure would have once been filled with staff. Maybe they've seen the light and walked out like I should have done. We made our way to the "restaurant" which is again poorly laid out, don't make the mistake of engaging with the staff behind the counter with the food, they aren't there to serve customers. You order your food and drinks at the till point and then wait.........a long time, I aged considerably awaiting two muffins and two coffees. It's all overpriced, hot drink are anything but hot and you'll have to ask for those optional things like milk! For an additional payment toddlers can use the soft play, it should be noted that a middle aged women with terrible roots will check the children's wrist bands, she stomps around the place barking at the toddlers to come over to her so that she can check wrist bands, it's quite something to behold, may I suggest that this female perhaps puts those talents to better use by actually serving some of the many people stood waiting for there lukewarm drinks that they have ordered ? Awful service from start to finish

Lovely garden centre with lots of other merchandise available and a good source for buying gifts. Nice looking cafe area but very muddled system as to where to order. Never have all the tills running and usually coffee/cake area very busy with one person making the drinks and the other manning the till in a small area and getting in each other's way. Not clear as to whether to serve yourself cake or order at till point, I got it wrong and person on till wouldn't put a cake on a plate for me so had to go back and start again! Then there is nowhere to place tray while you try to serve yourself a cake.On a recent visit I wanted a toasted sandwich at 3 pm to be told that it was too late for hot food of any type, very poor when the garden centre is open until 6pm but beware the cafe closes a long time before that. A few days later I arrived at 12.45 for lunch to be told soup had already sold out. There definitely needs to be some sort of overhaul of the systems operating here.Service is very slow once you have ordered food but when it arrived it was very good, no complaints there. The festive turkey bap was loaded with filling and was a meal in itself. Cakes are also .tasty but again they do run out leaving a limited choice. As others have said this is on the coach stop radar as its just off the motorway junction so can be manically busy and the soft play area makes for noise and children running around so try to sit at the opposite end where it is quieter. The garden centre itself is lovely but is let down by the cafe which could be so much better with just a little attention. I am often in the North east of the country and without exception EVERY place where I have eaten has been exceptional as can be seen by my reviews, there is almost nothing of equivalent standard in my home area, shame!

This place is really poor , had two bad experiences now . The layout is awful ! how can you expect anyone let alone elderly people to stand with stuff on their trays for ages in a queue with no where to put the trays down , I don't understand when their going to change this . Secondly today when we went I watched one of the baristas poor a shot of coffee into a cup so fast it spilt all over the side of the cup and she used a cloth previously used to wipe the work surfaces to wipe the edge of the cup, not ok! They had shut two of their tills down at one end I have no idea why, if it was to cover breaks , breaks should not be taken at your busiest times and should certainly not be few people at once you shot yourself in the foot closing off two tills leaving a massive queue and struggle for staff all on one the other end . Our panini and toastie arrived with just rocket when was advertised as coming with mine coleslaw and my mums with crisps and neither came no sorry or explanation why until we asked , if you've paid for something you would expect it, so you need to apologise to the customer that you are not delivering their full expectation of a product when you give it to them . Coming from a catering industry myself there are a lot of things going wrong in this restaurant clearly demonstrated in the online reviews , something needs to be sorted out . We won't be going back for a while now and await improvements

This seems to be the way all garden centres are going. On entry you're hit by a large food area but you have to look hard for lawn seed or weed killer. Very average, but watch out if coaches are in the car park as you may have to queue behind them for service.

Blooms is a great place for a coffee and chat, if you want things a little more peaceful, make sure you sit the opposite end to the soft play area but on cold days you can feel the icy blast from the main entrance each time it opens. Alternatively you can sit "out" under cover in the plant area which is very pleasant as long as you don't get watered along with the plants as I once did.The food here is perfectly adequate but can be a bit hit and miss in quality - the toasted teacakes and jacket potatoes are lovely, the scones are awful. The one thing that spoils Blooms is it seems to constantly suffer from a lack of staff - queues can be long and the one service station for just coffee/cake seems to be always shut these days which compounds the queue problem especially considering that coaches tend to use it as a toilet/beverage stop from the motorway - which can also contribute to messy loos!.

Nevermind the staff refused to acknowledge you, give any eye contact or any customer service at all.. We won't be back to this particular wyevale cafe. We went for breakfast on my partners birthday whilst waiting for Aqua Jardine to open. On entering the restaurant it was unclear as to where you ordered your food, we didn't know what to do so we asked two ladies next to us who also said they didn't have a clue, there seemed to be no system. I asked the lady at the food counter if I could order a Great British Breakfast and she points at the cash till and told me to order there. Why there was a massive hot plate there that was the length of 20 people I do not know. So we were ordering a breakfast that we could not see or smell that was cooked behind closed doors. I then asked where we order drinks, another lady said at the cash till. So you can imagine the queue at the cash till, they are taking your order, taking money and making drinks, all 3 of them, all under 16 and didn't seem to have a clue what to do or even know where they were! I ordered 2 Great British Breakfasts at £6.50 each a latte and a coffee with cream. I paid £17.70 and was given my coffee, I had to remind the boy that we also ordered a latte too, from the guy stood right next to him not 2 minutes ago! We collected our drinks and table number and went to take a seat. There were plenty of seats which was good as we had a choice of here to sit. We have now since figured out that this place was so quiet because it was so poor! We sat down to drink our drinks and my partner told me his latte was cold, they hadn't heated the milk up! Our breakfasts came, both incomplete. Now when we order a Great British Breakfast at £6.50 each we were expecting quite a feast. To be presented with a small plate with a miniature sausage on. 2 rashers of bacon, I had an egg, a frozen hash brown the size of a £2 coin, a round of black pudding that wasn't fresh, half a tomato and an espresso cup of baked beans. I had no mushrooms and my partner had no egg. The food was tasteless, bland and not worth more than £2.50 in my opinion. I was quite upset by this so I asked a young man to please fetch me the manager. He came back telling me the manager was too busy! This should not have surprised me as the staff look like they would rather kill you than smile, it feels like they are all petulant teenagers (including the mature ladies) who have been forced to work there! I didn't have all day as it was my partners birthday therefore I thought I would forewarn anyone even thinking of getting breakfast here not to bother.

After half an hour waiting for the meal we ordered it transpired that the order had not been transmitted from the till to the kitchen. When we finally got our meal after 45 minutes we had to bolt it down because we had another appointment. Also the selection of cakes and pastries is very limited - not enough variety - too many sponge cakes - needs more choice, things like apple strudel, fruit cake, bakewell tart, portugese tarts, pain au raisin etc. This is not the first time we've had poor service there - the cafe seems to be poorly managed - there is no evidence of anyone being visibly in charge. Also the layout is not ideal - you shouldn't have to stand in a queue for a long time with a laden tray with nowhere to put it down until you get to the till. There were some coach parties there for which they appeared totally unprepared. They had 2 tills open when there were long queues - when the queues had dispersed and things had quietened down they opened a third till!We have been customers there for years but this was the final straw - we will be eating at Highfield Garden Centre in future - so much better in every way.

We arrived at 1120. The signs showed that breakfast was served until 1130, lunch/toasted sandwiches (paninis), jacket potatoes served at 1200. For dietary reasons one of us cannot eat pork or eggs, so asked for a veggie sausage sandwich. The reply was (after consultation with another member of staff), "we don't have vegetarian sausages." "OK, can I have a panini then?" "No, we don't serve those until 1200." "Could I have a jacket potato then?" "No, we can't serve those until 1200." Other half ordered full English breakfast, I just went for toast. About 15 mins later the food arrived, dumped on the table by a surly member of staff. Another customer wanted a main meal at @ 1145, but was told they would have to wait until 1200 to be served. They were very tolerant, they sat and waited. So, questions to ask are: what can the garden centre actually serve between 1130 and 1200? Why don't they have veggie sausages in their freezer? Why can't the cooks cope with serving up whatever the customer asks for, at whatever time they pitch up? Is the restaurant in the garden centre there to serve fee paying customers, or for the benefit of their staff? BTW - the full English was nothing to write home about.

Had breakfast here with 6 others had to move tables to accommodate. Food fine but when the cafe is busy it is luke warm by the time you queue up and pay for it. Recommend get you drink first and then the food and pay for it at the drink counter not food counter as it is less busy

Visited today for a look around the garden centre and tea and cake. The garden centre itself is okay (it's part of the Wyevale chain) and there are some outlets selling books, clothing and shoes. The cafe is not okay. It is desperately in need of a shake up. It is poorly staffed with long queues at the till. One member of staff was serving drinks, providing tickets for the children's play area, taking food orders and accepting the payments. I wasn't asked for my loyalty card and neither did I receive an apology nor a thank you for waiting. In fact there wasn't even any eye contact. There were no forks, the menu was extremely limited with no hot food available and half of the seating area had been closed off. I don't know why. I did see one or two other staff members but they all appeared miserable. There really isn't any customer service to speak of. No one seems to care. The management team need to review the catering arrangements from every angle and come up with a plan to turn this place around and make it a pleasant place for visitors and staff. It'll be a very long time before I return here.

Had breakfast here this morning. I ordered a veggie breakfast swapping mushroom for another fried egg and tomato for toast. It arrived and the eggs were rock hard so asked to woman if I could have 2 runny ones. A few minutes later she returned with one runny one and one broken in the pan egg again as hard as hell. No toast. No apologies. Hubbie and the parents breakfast wasn't great either. No yoghurt on the pancakes had to ask and some brought over with no apology and very careless attitude. If I could give a minus star I would!!!

Called in Sunday to look around the garden centre but decided to have a drink, Thought that £4.90 for a small BLT sandwich was rather expensive. The coffee was so strong that we had to get an extra pot of hot water and extra milk to make it drinkable. Tables were left piled up with dirty trays (Small round table by us had 5 full trays on it and each of the 4 chairs had a full tray also. This was quite common looking around the eating area. Also the clean cutlery & clean trays were in very short supply as no one was topping the sections up until sometime after we had arrived,One positive, it had free WIFI

Blooms of Bressingham Garden Centre, situated at Haresfield, Stroud, Gloucestershire. It can be arrived at by travelling from the direction of Gloucester, and outwards towards the direction of Stroud ( sign posted ). Travel passed the joining slip roads to the M5, and continue towards Stroud for approx. 1 mile. It is on the right hand side of the road, and is very noticeable with Blooms Garden Centre signs. It has a large car parking area, which accommodates for a line of shops, such as Laura Ashley, also a men and womens clothes shop, and Aquajardine (Tropical Fish Centre ) and Blooms own garden centre, which is the main attraction to the area. The premises of Blooms is quite large, and within it is a considerable size garden centre, which one has to pass through the store to get to. Part of the garden centre is open air, and part of it is under sheltered roof. The garden centre has good quality garden plants, flowers and sapling trees of several varieties. Additionally, it has garden furniture, stoneware, wooden chalets and sheds. Whilst most goods are of better quality than other garden centres, you can expect to pay considerably more for them. As you make your way to the garden centre area, the Cafeteria is on the left hand side of the store, and can not be missed. The Cafeteria is quite expensive with its foods, whether you are having a cooked dinner, or simply a cup of coffee and a bun/cake. I found it to be well over priced.and for what reason I have no idea, because there are 'no added comforts', a poor service, and basic chairs and tables at which to sit at and eat your food.. There is nothing different about this cafeteria, no more than if you were going into one of the old Woolworths cafeterias. There has always been a long wait at the food service area when I have visited Blooms Garden Centre. The staff are far from cheerful; I found the price of a cooked meal to be extortionate, especially when the portions you receive on your plate are meagre; more like a child's dinner, and hardly adequate for the average adult. Nothing special about the cooking either...far from delicious, and nothing to write home about. The cafeteria is well below standards for a 'up-market' good class garden centre (though pricey). Blooms could do better when it comes to providing an eatery within its store, though it seems to me that they fail to recognise this.I no longer go into the cafeteria section of the store. I would have to be very thirsty and/or hungry before I would use it again.

Horrible stale rolls they were tiny but still cut in half ??? Cake on top was tasteless. Wouldn't bother eating here again . Wish I had gone somewhere else. Not worth £1-99 let alone the £9-99 I paid for two . Very very disappointing how wrong can you get Afternnon tea ? Well try here as they can'...... Slight detour off the motorway to have some lunch. A well stocked garden centre with a variety of goods on sale. The restaurant is light and airy and welcoming until you meet the staff who in general, look as if they would prefer to be somewhere else. We thought the food was very pricey, especially the snacks and so we settled for coffee only. My husband was so long at the counter, I thought they'd gone to Brazil for the beans! We use this motorway regularly but wouldn't go out of our way to eat here again.

The staff clearly couldn't cope and when the drinks were brought over the woman (older, tall and dark hair who I later saw chewing gum in the service area) just stood at the table holding the drinks- didn't say 1 word so we took the drinks. Service what service. Save your money and go to gloucester services- much better there!

The children enjoyed the soft play but we didn't enjoy our lunch. The food was "edible" but disappointing: My sandwich was okay but had just one mushroom and a piece of pepper, no sauce or seasoning. My friend and my husband ordered a "traditional sunday roast". As a beef joint was on display we did not think to ask what the roast was. The plates arrived with baked chicken legs, potatoes and overcooked carrots and cabbage, not what you expect for £9.95! We did not complain because we were embarrassed and hungry. Later on we were overcharged for 4 brownies (£2.60 instead £2), and while I got my money back quickly, my friend had to wait 10 mins to get a refund on her card!Next time we'll have lunch somewhere else and have a drink while the children go and play! ( £1.50 charge for 1h, but if it's not busy they let you stay as long as you want)

We quite like this place - although I think it's a Wyevale garden centre now. It's just a shame the staff in the restaurant are seem so grumpy. We popped in to pick up a few Mother's Day gifts this morning and we're served by a rather miserable member of staff. This is the second time we've come away commenting on the unfriendly staff. That being said, the restaurant is always busy and the coffee is good enough.

Ideal for motorist looking for a break on the motorway. Large garden centre plus other shops in this complex. The restaurant is always very popular but worth noting all hot meals are prepared as you wait and not sat under heated lights. We had occasion just last week to call having been shopping nearby and ordered cod, chips and peas. Good size portion we waited just ten minutes and the meal was served by friendly waitress. They have specials here everyday so there is always something to suit ones budget. Its worth joining Wyevales Club to take best advantage of the best food deals.

As I had a lunch voucher decided to try again, what a mistake, I had the Christmas dinner, turkey. The turkey was dried up where it had been kept warm in slices, roast potatoes like mush, carrots so overcooked they were watery & tasteless, red cabbage again overcooked and a sort of very light purple colour, the pig in blanket was the best thing on the plate. My voucher included a sweet but decided not to bother, will not go back again even if they paid me.

I got in the queue and waited for about 6 - 7 minutes there were 5+ staff on, 2 serving drinks, 1 folding napkins and the others just looking on and in the time I waited not 1 person moved out of the queue - needless to say we left before being served.as there were about 6 people in front of us. It would be good if this review is read by the management of the cafe and if it is please have a front of house manager as it is so disorganised you are losing money! By the way we found a lovely pub and had lunch there instead!

We visited the restaurant with our 3 Grandchildren on May 28th. 2014 at 1300hrs. Having chosen children's picnic boxes, my wife went to stand in the queue to pay. There were three other customers ahead of her.Mean time I went to order baguettes for my wife and myself. I joined a queue of 8 people, After 15 minutes I reached the Server, I said I wanted Baguettes and he called his colleague. whom said she couldn't hear me - so I was to go back to the sandwich counter. Where I re-joined the queue!!I was duly served by a nice polite Lady, and went to take my receipt to the till to pay. To my surprise my wife still had one person ahead of her.It was a further 10 minutes before she got the coffee and paid. In total more than 30 minutes in a queue. The Till service was chronic. The delay was due to lack of team work, and very bad planning. There should have been a facility to get hot drinks separate from the cash tills. There were so many people with hot meals and cold drinks that just wanted to pay, but also were held in the queue whilst their meals were getting cold!A truly shocking experience not to be repeated as it appears that the management is oblivious of the recently recorded reviews.!!

Visited here on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon with my mother-in-law, husband and son. Had a nice walk around the garden centre and decided to treat my 91-year-old disabled mother-in-law to tea and cake - that was the first mistake! After leaving my mother-in-law at a table we helped ourselves to cake and went to the till nearest the back of the garden centre and queued behind several other people so we could order some hot drinks. We got to the front of the queue and the server just disappeared without saying a word and didn't return. Therefore, we took our cake and re-queued at the other serving area for hot drinks. Eventually we got to nearly the front of the queue where we ordered two coffees and a pot of tea. We waited and waited. By this time, looking back over to where we'd first queued the server was back (the second mistake was moving queues!). There was a problem in front where a lady was trying to use her rewards vouchers but, apparently, according to the server, they had already been redeemed; this the lady denied. So we waited and waited. Whilst this was being sorted another two servers carried on dispensing drinks up the queue which meant all drinks were cooling the whole time. As my husband and I were silently shaking our heads at each other the lady behind us caught us and said this was always the level of service unfortunately. In fact if it hadn't been for the fact that we were treating my mother-in-law to an afternoon out we would have just upped and left the drinks and cake and gone home.We eventually got to pay and returned to our table where mother-in-law asked us where we'd been as we had been so long. She took one sip of her tea and said it was undrinkable, in fact the worse she'd ever had, and so left it. My husband and I took a couple of sips of our coffee which by now was virtually stone cold, therefore although he was determined to drink his I left mine. It was a complete waste of money. On the plus side, the carrot cake was lovely!

How difficult is it to make two hot chocolates and a latte in less than 10 minutes? How hard is to place each drink (made separately) on the customer's tray? How challenging is it to apologise for running out of milk mid service, having to go in the kitchen, return, open large crate, install it in the fridge, while all the time the first drink is cooling down? Then make the other two drinks? Unfortunately they'd already taken my money, almost £9 for this! And no explanation, apology or even eye contact! Even funnier, when my friend went back for a £1 refill the assistant was scratching her bottom! Delightful! Needless to say I won't go back!

Blooms used to be somewhere really worth visiting as they sold a wide range of delicious cakes and food. Sadly, in the past year or so, the quality of food on offer has declined whilst the prices have crept up. The standard of service is also poor - staff seem to be ambivalent about serving customers. Not bad, but plenty of better alternatives around.

For families looking for a nice place to visit - don't go! It's probably fine for shopping (although everything is really overpriced), but the cafe and play area left us really disappointed. The staff were very slow and didn't seem to know what they were doing, and the play area (which is tiny) charges £1.50 for an hour of play! We decided to eat lunch there while our 2 year old played - the food that arrived was nothing special at all. The portion sizes are extremely small for the price and we ordered our daughter sausage and chips from the children's menu... It arrived with no cutlery, on an adult plate and was literally 2 sausages and a small heap of undercooked chips! no beans, or any thought that this meal was for a child whatsoever. The play area itself is well maintained but I will not be taking our daughter there again because of the charge and the lack of catering for toddlers and the poor quality of the food that evetually arrived.

On visiting the garden centre today surprised to find that they have now decided to charge £1.50 for an hour at the children's play area. It is not cheap for families to stop for coffee and a bite to eat and this added charge to keep the children entertained whilst the parents are eating is not acceptable. The children usually only spend a short time anyway in the area and it is not even supervised.
