Happy with the food and service. Only negative comments is that the furniture is looking shabby and the toilets are not great and need a good spruce. First impressions etc etc.

This is a lovely looking tearoom in a beautiful location. Parking close by can be a bit tricky, and so you may have to find a residential side road. Very polite team who quickly offered drinks and the menu. The food was a reasonable portion size, and very tasty, we had the jacket potatoes. Once we had eaten this the table was cleared, and that was the last we saw of anyone until we got bored and we just paid and left. We did want some further drinks and dessert, but having failed to get the attention of any staff member, it was a little frustrating. If the tearoom was very busy then I could have understood that, but I would not have said it was that busy. When we did go to pay there were 3 staff members chatting by the till area which just added to the frustration. I am not one for clicking fingers or shouting out for service, and just assumed someone would have just come over, seeing the table clear and empty cups. To sum up, nice food but left frustrated.

This place could be amazing, being a beautiful location and beautiful building. But the food is now very poor, ordered a Brie and cranberry panini. It came in a cheap panini with about a tub of cranberry sauce which made it difficult to eat. I have also had a breakfast which came with cheap sausages and other ingredients you can only have scrambled or fried egg no poached? It’s a real shame they’ve taken their eyes off the ball.

Too wet to walk. Get together with friends. Table of 8 for chat and food. As always lovely food. Couldn’t resist take away cake! We all enjoyed our panini, salad or sandwiches. Such good value. (The next day I met up with a friend in the Gail’s Bakery in Epping. Huge contrast and much less value.)

Stopped at this place halfway through a bike tour as it had good reviews. Plus points - very friendly staff and good menu choice. Lots of places to leave your bike. My apricot loose leaf tea very nice. Negative points - panini overpriced ( £7 odd) and undercooked. Bread not at all crispy, soggy in fact. To be honest would not return, sorry.

What a lovely place to enjoy a cream tea on a hot July afternoon! We parked opposite the tea rooms and sat outside enjyoing the sun. The Earl Grey tea tasted rather unlike any other Earl Grey we've had, but it was OK. A pity that they have rather a limited gluten-free menu, which meant that my partner couldn't enjoy scones + rodda's + raspberry jam. But such a nice location and such nice, friendly staff!

We had our friends down from the Lakes and said we MUST go to the Tea Rooms, as last time we went about 4 weeks ago, both the food and service was superb. Unfortunately this time it was nowhere near as good. We booked in advance to ensure our table, but when we got there, a much nicer table which had been booked for us was occupied and the people refused to give it up, so we had a makeshift and very tight for space table made available at the back. Then we ordered the breakfasts and my friend ordered a simple fried egg on muffin. What she received was scrambled egg (which she accepted), but the muffin was so hard (overcooked) that it broke when trying to cut it. It was inedible. They took it back and redid the muffin, but not the scrambled egg, so now she had cold egg on reasonable muffin. The toast arrived for the other 3 breakfasts and most of it was overdone. Several sausages across the 3 breakfasts were also overcooked. Then tried ordering some additional coffees and took 3 attempts of asking, for them to send someone over. When we got the bill and was asked "was everything ok", I said "a bit disappointed as many parts of our breakfast were overcooked". Waitress just replied "sorry" and made no attempt to rectify the situation. I hate criticising this place as I loved it first time around. However this time was poor despite all the ingredients being really really good. Badly cooked and poor service.

This is a really nice friendly village cafe. Varied menu, that was reasonably priced, the tea room is in a quaint old setting well spaced out and clean. The service was quick, the staff polite and friendly. If you are particular about scrambled eggs not being over cooked and full of oil this is a good venue to try as they were very good. It’s also dog friendly and plenty of place to safely leave a bike if you cycle.

Blackmore Tea Room does what it says on the tin. Service was good, food was lovely (we had the High Tea) and felt we got value for money. The property is old and lovely but I felt the decor was a little jaded/faded/dusty. The menu is good, without trying to do too much but the laminated menus felt sticky and not clean. The cutlery also failed to impress. They do a super delux High Tea which we would happily have ordered but you have to pre book at least 24 hours before arriving . . . Bit pointless having this on the menu. Sounds as if I’m being picky; I’m just being honest. To be clear, I would definitely go again. I would definitely pre book the super delux monster High Tea!

Before I start, I must say that I write as many good reviews for businesses as bad, and I am merely giving my honest opinion. I cycled into Blackmore today, and stopped for a cup of Tea. I sat outside next to the entrance door wearing a hi Viz jacket. It appeared there was very few if any customers inside, after a few minutes a member of staff appeared outside to serve one other lady her breakfast, on her return back inside the tearoom, she walked past me without acknowledging me, at this point I assumed she would be back out shortly.. I waited 5mins, then 10mins but nothing.. So I just got up and cycled off) I'm patient enough, but with just an acknowledgement it would of kept me there for half an hour without complaint.

We went there yesterday for a late lunch! Food was lovely and we were having a lovely time until I needed to go to the loo! My sister kindly offered to push my wheelchair for me, getting inside no problem but on the way to the loo we came across a step about 9 inches high, I had to get out of the chair and holding on I managed the step but hanging on for grim death. My sister put the wheelchair up the step and I sat down again but as we approached the loo there was a heavy table by the door so we could not get the chair through the door so again so again I had to stand and struggle through! Once inside there and behold was a brilliant disabled loo. On line the tea room describes itself as disabled access with an accessible loo. Such a shame!

Lovely food and very reasonably priced. Staff very pleasant. However, we were disappointed in the room we were sat in. It was lifeless, dull and boring. Not inviting at all. We felt like we were in the back room of a village hall. Such a shame because it could look so much nicer with a bit of money spent on the decor. For us this spoilt our trip out.

I’ve had a lot of afternoon teas :) My usual experience is one of getting onto the cakes ASAP as I’m still hungry after the 4 small triangles/fingers of sandwich. Not here! There were 6 chunky finger sandwiches each, all with a different filling (the duck and hoi sin was fab) and on 3 different types of bread. Add in a pot of crisps and a generous warm sausage roll and I was struggling. But it would have been rude not to - Devon scone, cream and jam and a further 4 mini cakes and a macaroon. I’ve had a look at some of the reviews here (the photos of the tea are good and accurate) and ‘luxury’ seems to mean different things to different people. To me, a luxury high tea is a feast for the eyes - along with the taste, variety and value for money - I got all of those. Thank you ladies at the tearoom - who also put our uneaten cakes in a box to take home :D

Off work for the summer, my friend and I decided to indulge in the luxury high tea at Blackmore Tearooms. We were both impressed with the quality and quantity of food - certainly value for money. My friend’s husband is a keen cyclist and the size of the rustic finger sandwiches would certainly refuel him for the return journey. With six different fillings; one of each for both of us, these were, for me, the star of the show. A warm sausage roll and a pot of crisps were lovely accompaniments. The warm scones with individual pots of cream and jam were plentiful. To be honest, by now I was feeling pretty full but who could resist the dainty array of cakes to finish. With macaroons, bread pudding, coffee & walnut cupcakes, individual lemon meringue pies and profiteroles I just had to indulge. Very impressive. Will definitely be returning for more.

Everything about our tea was only average. Its a pleasant venue but desperately needs brightening up with a lick of paint as its quite a drab interior with dark brown furniture. Staff were pleasant. The tea for two served in a nice tea pot with strainer was very weak . Even after 5 minutes the tea looked very pale.. Scones were plain warm and quite tasty but the jam was more like a conserve without any fruit bits. Other people sitting nearby had the high tea with sandwiches etc which looked good.

Visited the village for a youth football match, and discovered this lovely little tearoom in the town square. You can have a nice hot meal in addition to the usual tea room fare. Brought my family back on Mothers Day Sunday and found half the cafe filled with happy families enjoying afternoon teas, but we could still enjoy the ambience and food/beverages. The village is enjoyable in itself and the cafe seems to be the hub for cyclists riding on the routes around the lanes in this area so Sunday mornings may be a bit busy but a visit any day/time is a treat.

We both had a small breakfast which was reasonable at £5.65. They do pots of tea with tea leaves and nice cake. As we were there so long I also tried the Illy coffee which was good. A very busy place, nice atmosphere and good friendly service.

A great looking place with plenty of tables and parking. Lovely setting in the picturesque village of Blackmore. The food is very nice with a modern twist. The cake is mouthwateringly gorgeous!!It is pricy but you do get what you pay for. Many bike riders stop here because of its location. I must say the staff are happy to serve them where many cafes may find excuses not to accommodate them. Plenty of room for bikes too!

Great 15th century building full of character in a beautiful village.Old fashioned with traditional homemade cakes & loose leaf tea.My favourite coffee in the world (Illy) followed by a large portion of Rocky road. Very popular place to be & will be my regular spot

A genuine cafe menu, but an added Tea Room experience for those who seek that little extra. The Blackmore Tea Rooms are in a charming old building sited in the historic village of Blackmore known for its connections to Henry VIII and ancient Priory Church of St Lawrence dating back to 1135. It is a place to relax and enjoy the food and surroundings and to observe the many cyclists who are attracted to this venue.

Nice to pop into for a cup of tea and a cake or icecream. Lots of cyclists use it as stop off point. Old historic building inside with lots of different seating arrangements from squashy sofas to bar stools and conventional tables and chairs.

What a gorgeous setting. A beautiful village and such a wonderful atmosphere locally. The food is well prepared and tastes beautiful. All homemade which is something that really stands out when you visit a small independently run tearoom. You certainly won't go wrong dropping into this lovely little shop and enjoying the local atmosphere and the very helpful staff. Well done. So few of these lovely little places be in you in nowadays. Mmmmmm.

It's got a 'cafe' menu but it's somewhere you can just go to visit for a drink and to read the papers. There are many settees in here. The service and welcome were good. The menu was a little lite on cafe staples but we found dishes we liked so no issues.Price wise it's not in the cheap eats section but it's Blackmore, so .....Yes we would visit again.
